We have classified the 122 complaints from 2004 Nissan Murano about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
The sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano fails to stay 'up' out of the driver's vision. it starts to fall unexpectedly and becomes more and more prone to falling into the drivers line of vision. my first sun visor failed before i had the car three years but after i had driven 36,000 miles. after a number of phone calls to nissan, they replaced the sun visor. now, approximately three years later, the replacement sun visor also falls unto my line of sight. this is not repairable: it must be replaced at the cost of over $300 for the part alone, and i expect, from the number of complaints i have seen, that the next visor will also fail. *tr
The driver side sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano falls when ever i hit a bump in the road. there has not been an accident yet but when it falls it causes me to loose sight of the road in front of me and also causes me to take my attention off of driving while trying to fix it. this is a very dangerous situation. *tr
Driver-side sun visor will not stay in place. it is loose and will drop down while driving, blocking visibility. *tr
The passenger sun visor keeps flopping down and obstructing view. there is a mechanism failure in the spring that holds it up. have seen a number of complaints on blogs about this and even if you order a new visor, mechanism still fails. it is a safety issue and one that does not seem to have a resolution.... it is also on the onus of the driver to deal with a defect. *tr
The driver's visor falls suddenly blocking vision. nothing has been done to cause this. i have read of many similar complaints by murano owners online. this is a safety issue that nissan is ignoring. *tr
2004 nissan murano driver side sun visor does not stay in place, drops down and affects vision. *tr
2004 nissan murano sl drivers side sun visor falls down and blocks the view of the driver unexpectedly. started at about 6 months ago. dealership denies responsibility. *tr

On my 2004 murano se, the driver's sun visor fails to stay in place when use and falls to block the driver's vision. it also does not stay fully in the up position and i fear that it could fall down to block the driver's vision as well. *tr
The drivers side sun visor failed to keep its 'up position' or in a selected position to shade the driver from the sun. this is a safety hazard that left uncorrected could result in an accident. nissan has not issued a voluntary recall on the visor even though many people have complained about the problem. *tr
2004 nissan murano's driverside sunvisor drops down causing visual distraction. *tr
2004 nissan murano driver's side sun visor drops suddenly obscuring visibility . *tr
The sun visor of my nissan murano 2004 on the driver side does not stay up and keeps on falling into my eyes. from the forums i have visited, i have noticed that this is a common problem with murano vehicles. it started almost a year ago. at that time i used to be able to put it up in position and it would stay up for a while, but now the cognition has worsened. now no matter how hard i try, the sun visor would not stay in place and keep on dropping into my eyes. i cannot believe that a reputed car manufacturer like nissan can build such an inferior product. in my mind it is a safety issue and government should ask nissan to stand up to their product and issue a recall. this is not the only problem i am having with this car. other problems are: 1. driver side power seat does not function because some part is broken, but because of this, i need to replace entire mechanism. 2. gas cap cover does not open. i had to spend $400 to get it fixed. 3. there is some engine component that makes internal noise that could make my vehicle stop while diving. i have been told that this costs $4,500. looks like whole car is falling apart in under 60,000 miles. it is incomprehensible that nissan has manufactured this car with built-in obsolescence. *tr
Nissan murano driver's side sun visor falls into driver's line of vision when driving over bumpy roads. this is a safety hazard as it impedes the driver's visibility. it happens consistently and the only solution appears to be replacing the visor at a cost of $400+. *tr
I have a 2004 nissan murano. both sun visors have failed and i'm concerned that it is unsafe. when the vehicles is jarred both visors will suddenly flip into the down position, momentarily distracting the driver and obstructing vision. i have already spoken to the nissan dealer and the service manager said nissan is very aware of the problem but will not issue a recall. *tr
Sun visor problem: both driver side and passenger side sun visors don't stay up. this is dangerous when i'm driving as it blocks/interferes with my vision! it will stay up for a short period of time, then fall whenever i hit a bump. *tr
Sun visor will not stay in the up position. have replaced it once and the second model has failed as well.*cw
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving the drivers side sun visor fell down and made it difficult for him to see. the dealer stated that the visor is not covered under the warranty. the vin was not available. the mileage was 80000 and the current mileage was 100000.
2004 nissan murano sl. sun visor fall down and won't stay in the "up" position. while driving the driver side visor will "fall" blocking the drivers view. the visor either needs to be held in the up position, or turned to the side to keep from blocking view forward, but with visor turned to the side it blocks the side view. this has not been replaced as of yet due to a new visor costing over 320.00. i have talked to the dealership and seen on several forums where this is a very common and unsafe problem. *tr
The sun visor will not stay up. it falls down, constantly and blocks my husband's view (he is taller). it doesn't block my view, but is startling when it drops down and it does restrict my field of vision. this is not covered under my extended warranty. it is a $300 + replacement. i have read several different forums concerning this problem and there are people who have replaced the same part more than once. *tr
The drivers side sun visor falls down without warning blocking the drivers vision. this happens frequently. the dealer wants $400. to replace the entire visor. i currently use velcro to secure it. but this doesn't work very well. this is a common problem on 2003-2006 nissan muranos and should be a safety recall to correct the issue before someone is seriously injured or killed due to this manufacturing defect. *tr
Driver's side visor suddenly drops, completely obscuring view of the road. will not stay in place. now i have to hold it up with my hand while driving. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver side sun visor would repeatedly fall, obstructing the driver's view of the roadway. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer yet the dealer could not guarantee that the failure would not recur. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance the failure mileage was approximately 90,000 and the current mileage was approximately 136,000.
I have a 2004 nissan murano se. the driver's side sun visor will not stay up and is a driving hazard as it keeps falling in my face if i hit a bump or brake. nissan quoted me $400 to fix the problem and i can't afford it. i did a search online and found this is a known issue with this same vehicle years 2004 and up. i tried velcro and glue with no success. now with a teenage driver, i'm very concerned for her when she drives my car. *tr
Passenger & driver side visor will not stay up. falls to down position blocking the view of oncoming traffic. this problem prevents safe operation of vehicle. this is a wide spread problem. look at a few posts at http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/showthread/t-10542.html. *tr
I have a 2004 nissan murano. both driver's and passenger's sun visors fall to the down position when the vehicle hits a bump or when the brake is pressed. this can cause a safety hazard as it obstructs my view while driving. the cost to repair or replace the visor seems absurdly high especially when i look at several forums of murano owners having the same problem. i now drive with my hand holding the visor in the "up" position which is also a hazard because i have to drive with one hand in order to see without the visor falling. i have researched the web and saw several murano owners have the same problem. at what point or how many complaints do you need to receive in order to recall the item? does someone need to get into a serious accident or notify the media to seek action? *tr
Driver & passenger side visor keeps falling down when driving. can not see when it falls down, blocks vision. a safety issue and expensive part that i can not afford. *tr
Nissan murano 2004: driver visor no longer stays in upright position and can fall randomly during driving. there are dozens of similar reports on the internet regarding this. i reported this as a safety issue to my local nissan dealer and national nissan and they fail to consider it a safety issue - they want me to pay $300 to replace the visor. the visor is very large, and when the visor drops straight down, it can completely obscure vision out the windshield. i am afraid to continue driving this car. *tr
The passenger side sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano falls down unexpectedly while driving. this is happening at least twice a day now. i checked with the dealer and they said it is not covered under my extended warranty. it is very expensive to replace and after looking in the nissan forum it seems that this is a widespread problem. most consider it to be a safety issue. the visor does not drop completely but at an angle even with the passengers forehead. in the event of a collision a passenger's forehead would hit the edge of the visor causing a head injury and possible death. *tr
Sun visor on drivers side drops into line of sight. will not stay in one position. *tr
Driver's sun visor has become loose - will not reliably stay in position when in any position except a fully upright one. when lowered to a shade position it will drop lower and block my driving view. this can happen slowly on a smooth road or suddenly when i hit a bump. i have had to use a temporary putty to try to keep it from flopping down. this is a constant problem. i have occasionally had to hold the visor in the needed position when the sun was shining in my face - thus illegally and unsafely driving with one hand. my dealer says it will cost around $400 to replace the visor, money i do not have. my full warranty had run out when this started and the partial warranty did not cover "accessories", which is what they claim this is. *tr
I have just purchased a 2004 nissan murano and have been reading on the forum websites regarding the sun visor. my sun visor will not stay up on it's own in this vehicle. it may stay up for a few minutes, but if you hit a bump wrong the sun visor can swing down and block view of the windshield. this visor will also not stay up towards the windshield when i actually want to use it to block the sun so i can see. i feel it is a safety concern since i don't know when the sun visor will flip down and block my view of the road unexpectedly. *tr
The sun visor located above the driver side does not stay up properly. it flaps down and blocks the view of the road and traffic from the driver. this issue is prevalent in many muranos - see posting boards - and should be a recalled. *kb
Driver and passenger side sun visors fall with any minor bump (or even without any jarring at times). not only does it startle the driver when it happens (possibly leading to erratic driving, but it blocks the driver's field of vision creating a further safety hazard. many times simply raising the visor up does not work and it falls again leaving the driver trying to handle the car safely with one hand while simultaneously trying to keep the visor out of his field of vision. *tr
Driver side sun visor dropped down unexpectedly and intermittently.
Driver's side visor will fall down unexpectedly blocking driver's view. started out only 1 or 2 times per week, when you hit a dip or bump. now falls down 15 to 20 times per day at random times. we have velcroed it to the ceiling (which is very unattractive) and doesn't work 100% of the time. dealer has no suggestions other than total replacement. have also had both passenger and driver's side locks fail and have to be replaced. just quit unlocking. windshield had to be replaced after rearview mirror fell off along with a huge chunk of the windshield. bose 6-cd player quit working over 2 years ago. driver's side seat moves when you accelerate or stop. *tr
Sun visor will not stay up on drivers side. when it drops it blocks my vision. no matter how many times you raise it up it falls down almost immediately and you must use one hand to hold it up. i don't have 400 to replace it and the dealer will not even give a discount. *tr
The passenger side sun visor in our 04 nissan murano began to be hard to move up or down about 4 months ago. eventually, something inside the visor just gave up, and the visor started falling down under it's own weight. it will not stay up. the driver side visor is beginning to be hard to move now, and if it follows the pattern of the other visor, it will fail soon. i have contacted nissan customer service. they had me take it to the local dealer. dealer confirmed that it has failed and advised customer service of same. he also told them that driver side visor would probably fail soon. standard 36 month warranty will no longer cover visors as it has long since run out. i have the 100,000 mile extended warranty, but it will not cover the visors. i advised customer service that this is a safety issue, since the visor fall while driving, and obstructs the driver's vision, requiring driver to constantly lean over and push the visor back up. i also advised that i have never owned a vehicle that had visors that failed. they informed me that the warranty that would have covered the visors has expired, and they could not help me replace them. i informed them that this is not an isolated problem. there are many people on the internet who have had or are having the same problem. *tr
The sun visors failed twice within 36000 miles. they swing down and block your line of sight. they needed to be replaced both times. *tr
Drivers side sun visor flops down in drivers face unexpectedly. it will not stay in any position when out of the full up position and sometimes decides to even flop out of the up position. very aggravating and dangerous when having to drive into the setting sun. *tr
Lost site of road. the sun visor on drivers side will not stay up or if it does, it drops all of a sudden into the vision of the driver impeding the ability to drive. *tr
Drivers side sun visor constantly fell in my face while driving. when i was driving on the freeway it fell in my face and i swatted it out of my face so i could see, then the mechanism that holds the visor broke off. *tr
Drivers side sun visor consistently falls down while driving. this happens approximately every minute-two minutes on smooth freeways and surface streets. when this occurs, it blocks half of your vision to the road. the first time it happened, i was driving on the freeway with my infant son. i feel that this is an extremely dangerous defect and, apparently, i am by no means that only one having this problem. to replace the part is almost $300 according to the dealer and, according to message boards, replacements have not bee working either. in arizona, there is no way to go completely without a sun visor, but having it flop down in your face each minute is unacceptable. please do something about this. thank you for your time! please feel free to contact me with any questions. *tr
2004 nissan murano sun visor failure. driver's side sun visor does not stay up or falls down ad obstructs view with sudden obstruction. this is dangerous and product should be investigated for failure to work properly and being a sudden danger to driver. *tr
Sun visors in 2004 murano do not stay in position. on the freeway they suddenly fall down blocking vision. nissan had a tsb, but outside the 3/36 warranty, they are $400 to repair. *tr
The drivers side sun visor falls unexpectedly into the view of the driver. there is no warning and it is sudden. this blocks the view of the driver and could possibly cause a wreck. nissan will not fix the problem under an extended warranty. quotes have been around $400 to fix the problem that is a safety problem. *tr
Driver side sun visor fails. it drops down inadvertently blocking visibility. it costs $350 to replace. *tr
The driver's side sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano drops unexpectedly blocking the view of the road. this is hazardous especially for anyone who is 6' tall or more. this is a well documented defect on most muranos. the dealers refuse to cover the defect under warranty and there needs to be a recall to prevent injury or death. *tr
Driver and passenger side sun visor will not remain in the up position. the driver side is the safety hazard; it will fall down without notice. it will not stay up at all now; causing a restricted view. this is the 2nd visor i have had; the first time is was replaced under the warranty but that has run out and they will not replace it. *tr
2004 nissan murano - in mid march 2008, my driver side sun visor (lighted w/extension) fell down and no longer was able to remain in the "up" position. the visor cannot remain in any position other than a 90 degree angle perpendicular to the ground. there is no way to keep the visor up or adjust it to remain at an angle. it is completely useless and seriously obstructs forward visibility when driving, especially on sunny days. since march 2008, i have had several near accidents. there is no way to fix the visor without replacing it. the cost of replacement is approx. $300. searches on the internet reveal there are numerous other murano owners experiencing the same problem. *tr
