Transmission is slipping, especially at low speeds and when putting car into or out of reverse. when the transmission slips out of drive the engine revs and there is a sudden jerk. the car also jerks whenever switching from reverse to drive. the transmission failures are becoming more frequent. the car has 70k+ miles and research shows that transmission failure is a common problem with this car at this mileage. *tr

My 2005 nissan is jerking dangerously while shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. almost caused an accident with my children in the car. nissan knew about this problem when i bought the car less than a year ago and chose not to inform me just to make a sell. i believe that the tranny is defected and should be recalled and nissan seems to refuse to help with this problem. i am concerned for my safety and spent 12,000 on the car now they are asking me to pay 4500 for the tranny. if this was told to me that this was a problem when the car was bought i would have went and brought a honda instead. rip off and danger alert to anyone that own this model vehicle. *tt

The transmission on my 2005 nissan/maxima is hard shifting when engine/transmissionis is hot, delaying take off and kicking extremely bad when picking up speed and the automatic transmission shifts gears. two motor mount are already broken as a result of this problem. nissan dealer recommended replace transmission. a transmission specialized shop inspected and tested the transmission for second opinion and did no find problem in the transmission, other than 2 bad sensors. sensors was replaced and 6 months later the problem started again. *interior sunvisor lightning cover broken in both sides, driver's and passenger. *cd player not working, not playing. *original chrome wheels are corroded, breaking the seal on two of the tires causing pressure to lower and makes tire go flat in less than a week, if not attended soon.

I bought a 2005 maxima 3.5 sl in 2006 brand new in south carolina. i first started having problems when i had my 60,000 mile service. about two weeks after the service my check engine light came on so, i took it to the dealership. they said there was no codes, and cleared the light. i then took my car in for the 90,000 service and once again around a week or two later my check engine light came on. i took it to the dealer and now their was codes saying my egr valve needed to be replaced. i told the dealership the same thing happened when i did my 60,000 mile service. needless to say their was a recall that they would have replaced it for free but i was just over the mileage where it could have been done at no cost to me. about 3 months later my car jerked really hard, and my car lost complete power then jerked once more and started to move. the gauges in the car went completely out and every light possible on the dash came on. first i was told i have to replace four sensors, and so i did so along with the egr valve. the car ran fine for about two weeks and started doing the same thing. when i went from drive to reverse or vice versa it would jerk real hard before engaging. i then took the car to the repair shop and they said my transmission sensor was bad. i just had it replaced two weeks ago, and now my car is back is the shop doing the same thing. the tcs slip, and every light on the dash is on, and none of my gauges are working. now they say it might be the computer that is bad. this last time i was on my way home from missouri and it disengaged and would not put up speed when i pressed the gas pedal. i was nearly rear ended, and had to pull over because my 12 year old daughter was in the car and got scared. *tr

My 2005 nissan maxima has been having a transmission problem since it reached about 69,000 miles. right now the main problem it does, is that in drive it jerks between 1st and 2nd shift. it also jerks pretty hard when downshifting from 2nd to 1st. when the problem was starting to begin, it only affected from shifting from reverse to drive, but has moved to the crazy jerking it does now. at about 71,000 miles i had the car taken to a dealership and they couldn't find anything from using a code reader, but from just some simple shifting out of gears (park to drive, park to rev) they recommended a trans oil change (about $250) which i denied, because i looked a the oil myself and it was still cherry red, so that was too much to spend to just "to see if that fixes the problem". so at about 79,000 miles when the hard jerking started getting bad, i took the car to a different dealership ,which then they did recognize the problem, and told me it would be about $4000 to replace the transmission, which stunned me, especially cause i had just finished paying off the car and the warranty had ended. so i obviously i denied such a costly repair, but in talking to the mechanic at the dealership , i told him that the jerking problem isn't so bad at all when i use the manual gearshifts and i asked him why. well he told me that problem could also be in the valve body which could be a cheaper fix,but they replace whole transmission units not parts, because of warranty purposes, but that he's seen quite a few similar problems with other vehicles. since i told him it was too much for me to spend he recommended a trans repair center. so when i took it there, they confirmed that just changing out the valve body would be a "bandaid fix" and that a full replacement would be needed (about $3500 from them). now in reading other stories from people with the same problem as mine. *tr

1. takes about 5 seconds to click into gear after the shift lever is put in "d" 2. very hard jerky shifts between 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st and accompanied by loud clunking noise. 3. transmission slips out of gear during regular driving allowing the engine to rev freely then jerking back into gear with a loud clunk. the is followed by a burnt oil / electrical type smell that gets inside the car and evident outside after stopping. *tr

The car started jerking when you put it in geer.then it started jerking and changing while driving and take off at a rapid speed.i took it to nissan in december 2010 to get it checked out for the jerking and to get an oil change. i was told that the car wasn't under warranty even though i had taken a extended warranty out.i purchase a new vehicle at that time. 2011 pathfinder. i took my maxima back to nissan in july 2015 because the check engine light was coming on and the car was still doing the same but worse. the dealer never sat that there was a recall on the car for the transmission. a family member found this website for me.
