I have a 2004 nissan maxima purchased in 2005 currently with 70k miles on it. i am having problems with my automatic transmission shifting. from 1st to 2nd and from r to d it slams. *tr
I first purchased my 2005 nissan maxima last year and it had 70,000+ miles, it was used, after the first week i ended up taking it back to the dealer because it was jerking and switching. they informed me it was the motor mounts so they replaced then. when i got the car back the same problem was happening, so at my next oil change i informed them of the problem again, they said nothing was wrong, so i let it go. just recently the car has been jerking once i try to accelerate. the worst part is that i found an actual site with 30+ other 2005 maxima owners with the same problem who were given the same response. if that many cars are defective shouldn't the manufacturer fix the problem or submit a recall. *tr
2004 & 2005 nissan maxima transmission problems. i own a '05 nissan maxima se and am experiencing the same problem as hundreds (thousands?) of other owners are. the car has trouble shifting from 1-2 and 2-3 and jerks forward like you are being hit from behind. there are times that you worry that you can even make it home safely! when you take it into the dealer they let you know that you need a whole new transmission at about $4,000. this is clearly a wide spread problem and needs to be recalled by nissan immediately! if i was the only one having the problem i would understand but please check out this website for more descriptions! http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_61092.html. *tr
My 2005 nissan maxima se has been bucking and jerking from first to second gear since 60,000 (now has 64,000) accelerating and braking. it's been happening regularly (every time i drive) for over a month now. transmission fluid is fine, not sure what the problem is. i have heard that many others have had this problem with 2004 and 2005 models. *tr
The 2005 maxima motors are known to have timing chains problems give a vehicle a bad rattle noise from the engine some vehicle do it with as low as 15000 miles then they try and charge almost 3000 to fix. *tr
2005 nissan maxima shifting problem from 2nd gear to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd gear, jerking effect, also after warm up, going from reverse to drive there is a bang... automatic. *tr
2005 nissan maxima automatic tramission jerks or buckles when switching from 1st gear to 2nd gear. dealership will not help. 90000 miles on car. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan maxima. the contact stated the transmission began to shift hard. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.
I own a 2005 nissan maxima with approximately 63,000miles. i have been having transmission problems, mainly jerking going from 1st to 2nd gear and vice versa when downshifting from 2nd to 3rd. i have gotten it inspected and transmission flush was done, but the problem still persist. being that my vehicle is no longer under warranty, nissan is asking for $6000 for a new transmission. i'm not the only one with this problem. please click on the link attached so you can see the numerous amount of other maxima owners with the same issue http://www.carsurvey.org/viewmorecomments_review_61092_3.html. *tr
Tl*the contact owns 2005 nissan maxima. the transmission failed when the gear was shifted from park to drive and slipped into third or fourth gear. the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. the dealer stated that it could have been a miscommunication with the computerized system. none of the parts were replaced. the manufacturer stated that they would not assist with the repairs. the vin information wasn't available. the failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 72,000.
Transmission issue. this appeared to start around the 60k mile mark. randomly the car would jerk going from 2nd to 3rd or when slowing down from 2nd back down. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan maxima. for the last 2 years i have been experiencing problems with my car hesitating and the rpm raises very high while driving. i have also been experiencing heavy engine vibrations while braking when driving. i took nissan service and have a diagnostic done and they came back with a code for the transmission. they suggested that i have the transmission flushed, which i had done 6 months prior. nevertheless, i had it flushed again and the problem continued to escalate. i decided to look on the internet to see if i could possibly find a solution. i found that these problems were common with many 2004-2005 maxima owners and have been reported to nissan for many years, but they refused to recall these vehicles. in each case the problem began right after the warranty expired, which makes me think they were built like this purposely. i am now getting a shift malfunction code and was advised to replace the transmission. these are very expensive vehicles and it is just inexcusable for nissan to install faulty motor mounts and transmissions in them and not take responsibility for the repairs. *tr
December 2007 - took car into nissan dealer because transmission was hesitating and slamming hard into the "drive" gear. dealer discovered transmission needed to be replaced. january 2008, i received my car back with a reman transmission from nissan. february through may 2008 - took car into dealer a few more times due to issue with transmission again. october 2008 - returned car again to nissan because issue with transmission was occurring more frequently. told me it was due to (2) torn engine mounts. i replaced them by my own local mechanic. a few days after they were replaced, the transmission was acting up again. took car back to my mechanic and he said the (2) rear engine mounts were cracked/torn. i ended up replacing those as well. one week later, the issue came back. october-november 2008 - took car back to the same nissan dealer 3 more times and even after showing the service manager and the head technician the problem they told me that it was "normal" and there was nothing wrong with the transmission. the problem with the transmission is still an issue and was never resolved. *tr
Transmission was jerking and pulling real hard when changing gears. took it to nissan dealer three times and had different things checked and done (flushed, and rings changed), and it just got worse til i had to stop driving it. i am still making payments on car and can't afford to pay $3400 for transmission. car cost too much to be having problems like this so soon. please help. *tr
My 2005 maxima has 47,000 miles. recently, the car chokes while stopping as the car is down shifting back into 1st gear before stopping. sometime while accelerating the car will jump into the next gear. this vehicle is automatic trasmission. *jb
I am having the same problems as indicated with other consumers. my care jerks. i have replaced the axles, air flow meter, ac line, ignition coil, spark plugs, alternator, etc. currently, the timing change and tensioner needs repairing, the axles again from the jerking. i am a single mother who can not afford all of these repairs. i do not know what else to do. i will never buy another maxima. i also have had a diagnostic and it revealed 1 problem and once fix i still continue to have more problems on top of the jerking. enough is enough. *tr
Dt: consumer bought new nissan maxima 2005 and had driven vehicle for a few days when while parked at work, a co-worker noted there was "black stuff" which was suspected to be brake fluid. concerned, called dealership and dealer said not to drive vehicle because of the distance but please go to the nearest dealership there was a definite safety issue. a local dealer accepted vehicle and was kept for 4 days and determined it needed a new axle and also replaced a new brake boot as well. told dealership from where vehicle was purchased and they said do not let that dealership make those repairs-they would come and tow vehicle back. dealer towed vehicle. the dealer has had vehicle for over 1 week and no repairs have been made. they claim repair is in process. dealer has not confirmed what the problem was however the secondary dealership insists it was a broken axle on the front passenger side. *note* consumer discovered she did not have vin available to provide upon filing a complaint. *nm
Dt: the consumer stated she bought a 2005 nissan maxim 3.5 sl on november 15, 04. towards the end of may she took the vehicle to the dealer for a routine service because she complained about the vehicle not accelerating after having come to a complete stop. *ak *jb
When putting the car from park to drive it hesitates and then jerks into gear. hard shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. when downshifting this also happens in the same gears. this started around $40,000 miles and happens everytime the car is drove. when the car is hot it jerks alot harder when shifting. *tr
I have a 2008 maxima se which i purchased last year. the car continues to jerk (hard) when the car is shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, and it also happens on the downshift from 2nd to 1st. the car was problem-free for the 1st year but for the past 3-4 months it has been a nightmare. the jerking gets so bad, it feels like you're getting punched! the problem is intermittent and rarely occurs on the highway. please let me know how i can get this defective vehicle fixed...at no cost to the owner since it's obviously a manufacture problem. i have spoke with other nissan maxima owners and have read several forums and they are experiencing the same problem! *tr
I purchased a nissan maxima sl at the start of november 2004. a harness inside the engine containing a sensor to detect engine knocks was damaged by a rodent. this caused the engine to misfire which caused the transmission to buck, stop shifting, change speed of the car on it's own, lose acceleration, not shift, shift suddenly and put the driver in a situation where if they did not compensate they could be injured or killed. the problem started when i bought the car and worsened over the next three thousand miles of driving. the dealer and manufacturer ignored the problem and said they could not duplicate it until i said i would pay for them to plug the engine into a diagnostic computer. at this point they found a misfire code, the problem was identified my the master mechanic and the dealer replaced the harness at my expense! the manufacture refused to take responsibility for a dangerous defect. this is a defect in their computer logic and/or design. a sensor malfunction should not cause an engine misfire and transmission to fail. note the date of november 3 2004 indicates that the problem started when i purchased the car and it continued until the harness was replaced. i have contacted the manufacturer many times and they are not returning my calls. the master mechanic said he has seen this problem many times before which tells me that this is perhaps a long standing problem that nissan chooses to ignore.
2005 nissan maxima, transmission shifts extremely hard when upshifting and down shifting. sometimes it just stays neutral while stop and when the gas is pressed it jumps forward. this is extremely scary and unsafe. i was reading about this and it seems that this is a very common problem with nissan maximas 2004 and newer. there are thousands of complaints everywhere. *tr
