I bought a 2003 maxima se october 2005. my left side speakers would cut in and out only on the cd player. i found the tsb on this and had only had the car for 5 days. salesman told me i would have to pay for a new one and had to get the manager to send my radio off to a place to get repaired. one month later it quit working again. i have read on numerous web sites about the way nissan treats people with this problem. i cannot afford to shell out $600 for a new nissan radio that will break in a few months anyway. and an aftermarket radio takes away from that original look for me. can they not replace it with the 2002 radio (a new one ) because i haven't heard any complaints on that year. the dealership was crown pontiac in hoover, alabama. they promised me a touch up on the front bumper and hood because of the paint chips and to redo the titanium wheels because the finish was rubbed off and the rims were turning black. no touch up, had a guy come and fix 3 of the wheels and told me to bring the other one to the shop and he would have to work on it overnight for $100. so i have one rim that does not match. i had to shell out $80 for floor mats. even bought the $1800 extended warranty. so for spending $22000 on a 2003 car, broken cd player, ugly rim, half the paint is missing from the touch up i never received. they were so nice before i got the car, but as soon as the paper was signed, all i got was sorry that will cost you. all i want is for my cd player to work and redo one rim. i cannot get that or even 1 of 2 would be okay. *jb

The headlights to a 2003 nissan maxima have been stolen on two separate occasions. on both occssions the thiefs bent the internal metal frame that mounts the bumper to the car to provide access to the headlight from below. this frame is a sheet metal stamping that can easily be bent by applying a small amount of a persons body weight to the structure. the sheet metal construction of the fender and hood also allow a thief to gain access to the headlight by forcibly bending back these structures. the plastic bracket that houses the headlight and mounts it to the frame of the car is shattered by prying it from the frame with a tool. this plastic structure is not sufficiently strong enough to deter a thief from stealing the headlight. there is an additional sheet metal structure that mounts the plastic headlight housing to the frame of the car. this structure has an electrical box attached to it. in both cases of theft this structure was forcibly bent back to access the rear of the headlight for removal. this structure too is not strong enough to prevent a thief from forcibly gaining access to the headlight. it is worth mentioning that the above mentioned structures were compromised so easily, this vehicle's armed, properly functioning, factory equipped alarm system was not set off during the theft. after the first occurrence, i brought the car to poughkeepsie nissan for them to install the 'anti-theft device'. i don't know if or what was done but obviously it did not deter the thief(s). i have been financially burdened by this. not only do i have to pay a deductible but have to rent a car.*ak

Hid headlights stolen from 2003 nissan maxima. police, insurance company, and repair shop all indicated that this is a frequent occurrence specific to this vehicle. this is poor vehicle design and manufacturer should develop a solution and recall and correct the condition. dealer installed an additional alarm for headlights at a cost of $400 to me. the alarm failed to function.*ak

Nissan xenon (hid) headlights stolen, second time in three days. after the first incident, nissan installed an anti-theft system which should have prevented theft. but that did nothing. vehicle lights were stolen during daylight in heavy populated area. this is becoming very frustrating, especially because of its frequency. safety concerns should be considered because individuals with these nissans are driving with no headlights when stolen, no lights no turn signals. nssan motor will not offer any assistance to aide in solving this problem, upon calling them they basically said they could not assist. *la

Flaw in the design of the factory alarm system allows it to be easily disabled. flaw/defect in the design of hid headlights in the 2002-03 nissan maxima. the lights are easily pried off the car with a crowbar. criminals can steal them in less than 30 seconds. anti-theft kit made available is also defective. access to engine compartment is gained with a screwdriver or crowbar. risk of driver injury is increased because of this. *jb

Nissan maxima 2003 bose system sucks.... i got my cd player replaced three times. i believe they are clarion (a bose look a like) and sometimes dealers will put in used systems. luckily i had the extended warranty, so no charge. but i did wasted couple of hours off work. if i had not purchased the extended warranty, the system runs around hundrendths of dollars. *ak

Dt: the contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. nhtsa recall 03v455000 was issued. and the consumer took vehicle to nissan for recall repairs. however, nissan refused to do the recall repairs. the recall went out in december 2003, but the consumer purchased vehicle in january 2003. she never received a recall notice, and the manufacturer stated that the recall work must have been done. they did not have the documentation to prove that it was done. the vehicle was currently in the repair shop because rear brakes failed, and the dealership refused s to repair the brakes. there were several other problems with the vehicle, such as the stereo, suspension, and other things that they will not repair. the vehicle was still under warranty. *ak
