My truck suffers from 2 known problems that has been widely reported and are involved in two nissan tsbs. i have the faulty fuel sending unit and the whining timing belt tensioner. i am not getting any help from nissan and just get a flat 'your warranty has expired' statement from them. i feel that they should fix these problems or at least offer a very reduced rate for the repair. *tr

On 08-18-10, i was backing down the driveway with my 06 nissan frontier, upon entering the street, the steering column made a loud pop and the steering wheel became loose, moving left to right, up and down 3/4' outside the manufactured tolerances. i had the truck evaluated, 08-18-10, at murrays nissan, muskogee, ok 74403, 918-683-6605, and the fuel-sending unit replaced, 2nd time. i was informed that the steering repair would be $980.00, and nissan would not assist with repairs at 80,000 miles. they stated that the bearing was bad and the entire steering column had to be replaced, admitting, 'this was the first time they had encountered this type of failure in this revised model.' after repairing the fuel-sending unit, i picked up the vehicle, and researched the defect and discovered overwhelming evidence that there is a major steering defect with this model, and year, further validated by similar complaints filed with this agency, including high-speed total steering lockup, resulting in collisions. on 02-15-11, 87,000 i returned to have the fuel-sending unit replaced, 3rd time/check engine light turned off, 3rd time/reviewed for a steering recall status update due to increased steering issues. nissan would not assist with the steering repair, at a cost of $988.00, and indicated that the emission control canister failed, $700.00. on 02-18-11, after 3 days void of any repairs, i picked up the truck being reassured that it was safe to drive. i filed a request with nissan na customer satisfaction on 02-22-11. nissan na called on 02-25-2011, refusing assistance on the steering and emission control canister failure. we own 4 nissan frontiers and 1 armada from 2001-2009, 06 truck having multiple repair issues since purchase evidenced through nissan service records. my son, age 16, drives this truck daily to work and school and transports his 9-year-old brother. i feel that the steering and emission control canister failure should be considered under recall provisions. *tr

A transmission line from the cooler runs through the radiator. the line failed allowing fluid from the radiator to enter the transmission. this caused massive vibrations and vehicle stalling when attempting to accelerate onto the freeway or to pass, creating a hazardous situation in traffic. *kb

2006 nissan frontier fuel system. after fueling up my pickup, the check engine light comes on and gas gauge show empty and dte computer goes out. being a component of the fuel system this can be dangerous. any malfunction in a gas tank should warrant investigation and resolution. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving down the road the truck shudders and shakes and cannot shift into gear. i had no pick up while driving on the interstate and had cars speeding by me at 75mph while i was barely able to drive the truck. the truck would drive fine and than this would happen out of nowhere. i took it to aamco and found out i had water in the transmission due to a leak in the radiator. i had to pay $2500.00 to have my transmission rebuilt and a new radiator installed. i feel this should be a recall on nissans part because it was a faulty radiator that caused the problem and could have caused a severe accident. i have heard of alot of complaints regarding this same problem but nissan refuses to due a recall. i have the same fuel gauge problem that was just recalled and i ran out of gas because of it. i feel that this needs to be investigated before someone is killed in an accident because their transmission just stops working while driving on the interstate. *tr

Purchased a used 2006 nissan frontier 9/18/09 from fresno acura. approx 2 weeks later i drop it back off at the dealership, due to the heater not working & a shudder in the transmission. findings radiator/transmission oil cooler ruptured and fluid leaked into transmission & vice versa, i found out that transmission fluid was going into radiator. dealership would not honor transmission warranty due to the radiator not being under warranty and transmission contamination was effected by radiator . this is so wrong, unjust and corrupt. possible damage ranges from $3000-$6000. a consumer should not be responsible to pay this for this kind of damage that was affected by a defective part that should of been recalled or corrected. a person pays approx $23,000 for a new vehicle and should not have to dish out another 3 -4 thousand dollars on a 3 yr old vehicle . this is bad business and will give the nissan a very bad reputation. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving at 10 mph, the contact noticed a soft whining noise coming from the engine. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the timing belt tension assembly was replaced. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. the current mileage was approximately 82,000. updated 07/12/10*jb updated 7/26/10 *cn the timing chain tensioner positioner assembly and fuel gauge had to be replaced. the consumer stated a recall had been issued regarding the fuel problem. the consumer stated he did receive a recall check, however it was for less than he paid for the repairs. updated 08/09/10*jb

i own a 2006 nissan frontier, it was delivered with only half the keys programmed for the vehicle, a strange rattling of plastic shrouding in the engine compartment and as i found out a fast set of tires later, the front end out of alignment [ too much toe in ]. when i read the manual i found out that my 4wd vehicle was "not intended to be used off of the road", this was not in any of the presales literature and the reason i buy 4wd is so i can use it off road. at 100 miles after warranty i had to take it in because the fuel sending unit had failed, about a $600 repair on a part that should last 200,000 miles. the mechanic told me their dealership is replacing about one of these a week on a couple of models. when i picked it up i got the trouble light on the way home, i scanned it to see what the problem was [code po448 ]. i took it back. the first canister they ordered showed up broken [ kind of fragile for something mounted on the bottom of a 4wd ]. parts replaced under the emissions warranty were 14953zp50c filter-canister, 14950-ea20a canister assy. e, and 14935-am60b valve assy.-co. the service order says " ...inspected/found no flow very rusty....". as the vehicle only has 36,000 miles on it this does not bode well for the future. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving at an unknown speed, the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. the vehicle would sporadically stall. speed was not a factor during the failures. after the vehicle would stall, it would take a long time to automatically restart. the dealer could not duplicate the failure and provide a remedy. the vehicle was inspected by a mechanic, who stated that the gasoline delivery pump was potentially defective. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but because it exceeded the warranty, they would not repair the vehicle for free. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 71,853.

I bought the truck from a private party. as it was not registered, i have not tried. i subsequently overview, that the transmission was not normal. i looked at the worst default of the frontier on the internet and i find that everyone has a problem radiator crack leaked into transmission fluid. i have been to the garage. they said there was coolant in the oil transmission. i had to replace the transmission and radiator coolant radiator bypass. it cost me $ 2,408 cad
