Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2006 Nissan Frontier

I have a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving down the road the truck shudders and shakes and cannot shift into gear. i had no pick up while driving on the interstate and had cars speeding by me at 75mph while i was barely able to drive the truck. the truck would drive fine and than this would happen out of nowhere. i took it to aamco and found out i had water in the transmission due to a leak in the radiator. i had to pay $2500.00 to have my transmission rebuilt and a new radiator installed. i feel this should be a recall on nissans part because it was a faulty radiator that caused the problem and could have caused a severe accident. i have heard of alot of complaints regarding this same problem but nissan refuses to due a recall. i have the same fuel gauge problem that was just recalled and i ran out of gas because of it. i feel that this needs to be investigated before someone is killed in an accident because their transmission just stops working while driving on the interstate. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. the fuel gauge displayed empty when the gasoline tank was full or empty. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who stated that the failure was caused by the fuel sending unit. the manufacturer advised her that the vin wasn't in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated the she doesn't have a telephone number were she could be reached. the failure mileage was 56,000 and the current mileage was 83,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. on february 1, 2010 he noticed that the fuel sensor gauge failed to display the correct amount of fuel in the tank for twenty minutes. whenever there was a half of tank of gasoline in the vehicle, the fuel gauge didn't register that amount. he contacted the manufacturer and was advised that his vin was not included in recall 10v075000 fuel system, gasoline storage, auxiliary tank, but he should take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. a local mechanic diagnosed the failure and stated that fuel sensor caused the failure to occur; therefore, he refused to pay an additional diagnostic fee. the vehicle was not repaired and he will replace the vehicle if the manufacturer does not add his vin to the recall. the failure mileage was 46,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.

06 nissan frontier fuel sending unit failed, 460,000 miles. the gas gauge shows 1/4 full when i just put in a full tank of gas. it should show a full tank of gas, but it doesn't it just shows a 1/4 tank full. this is a known problem that nissan should take care of. i'm surely not the only person too complain about this problem. what does it take to get a recall on this problem? *tr

Tl* the contacts owns a 2006 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the fuel level indicator displayed inaccurate fuel levels. he experienced several instances of vehicle hesitation due to the lack of gasoline in the fuel tank; yet, the fuel level indicator displayed that there was a sufficient amount of gasoline in the vehicle. the contact located nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 (exterior lighting: fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank) and stated that the failure was directly related. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 66,000. updated 05/06/10. *lj updated 05/10/10*jb

I have a 2006 nissan frontier, my gas gauge and vehicle computer that reads the gas level is not working. it left my new born baby boy and wife on the side of i-95 in port orange florida because it showed gas in the tank when there was none. upon doing research i found this is a problem that occurs in many nissan model spread out around the year of our truck. i feel that this is a problem that needs to be taken care of by the dealer though a recall on the fuel sending unit. this is not an isolated problem but one that reaches many nissan owners. *tr thank you

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. the fuel gauge displayed that the fuel tank was full when it was empty and empty when it was full. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the fuel sending unit needed to replaced for $500. the manufacturer was calledl and confirmed that his vin was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 31,000.

Fuel level gauge on my 2006 nissan frontier [xxx] gives sporadic readings: reads empty when tank is full. after several miles gives apparently accurate reading until approximately 1/4 tank when it suddenly reads empty. this usually (but not always) occurs. nissan claims this vin is not covered under the current recall of this model for this exact same problem, and insists they have no obligation to fix it. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Year, make and model: 2006 nissan frontier error: erratic fuel gauge reading. show 1/4 tank even when empty or totally empty when it was just filled. action taken: spoke with nissan on the symptoms and the error code received from diagnostics (p0463) which states that it is the fuel level sending unit, but they informed me that my vin is not on the list, and i would need to file a complaint form on nhtsa to get resolved. *tr

Fuel tank gauge becomes erratic, no way to determine amount of fuel in tank. common problem with this vehicle no recall issued but nissan has issued a tech service bulletin tsb: ntb07069. *tr

Gas gauge sporadically would not register the gas when we filled up the tank. quoted $500 to repair. heard radio news a couple of months ago that nissan was recalling vehicles due to seat belts, gas gauges and exterior lights. the problem now is continuously - when gas gauge reaches 1/2 tank, it drops to empty. problem has not been corrected yet.

2006 nissan frontier. consumer states problems with fuel gauge *tgw consumer sent additional 17 page letter *tgw the consumer stated the gas gauge did not register when the tank was filled. when the gas gauge reached 1/2 tank, it dropped to empty. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was half full. the vehicle stalled since the fuel tank was empty. the contact noticed that every time the fuel tank was full, the fuel gauge would indicate that there was no fuel in the vehicle. the dealer was contacted and stated that his vehicle was not included with nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxiliary tank). the contact experienced the identical symptoms that were listed in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000. the current mileage was 62,000.

I am an owner of 2006 nissan frontier crewcab se. since day one at random while filling the fuel tank it pukes gas out onto side of truck, ground and me. the dealership where i purchased my truck were jerks, said it was the pump design at the station. just dismissed me, "try another station." i have since talked to other owners having the same problem. this a health, safety, and environmental hazard. *tr

Fuel gauge on 2006 nissan frontier does not always work, leading you to believe you have more or less fuel than actually in the tank. my truck is not included in the recall announced on march 2, 2010, yet has the same problem. i've spent $250 to have this repaired and feel i should be compensated. *tr

Drove home from work with 1/4 of tank... went to fill it all the way full.... started engine, service engine check light turned on... and noticed the tank is not registering its full... started driving... after a mile fuel gauge drops to empty and low fuel light turned on... went home and did some research... and im surprised its not just me that have this same problem.... we need to do a recall for this. *tr

Fuel gauge malfunctions when gas tank is full. when the tank is fully filled, the gauge indicates empty and the gas light remains on. other times the gauge reads at different levels, mostly half full or one quarter tank. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving approximately 45 mph, the fuel gauge dropped to empty and the fuel and service lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact had to set the trip odometer to monitor fuel usage to avoid running out of fuel. the vehicle would not pass the emissions test because of the defective fuel gauge. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 65,000 and the current mileage was approximately 90,000.

The fuel sending unit on my 2006 nissan frontier le is not working properly. when i fill up my truck the fuel gauge falls below empty and the light goes on . at times it says that i have more gas than i really do. it has been brought to my attention that nissan is selling all their trucks and suv's with faulty systems. i replaced the fuel cap in hopes that would help. *tr

Fuel gauge on my 2006 nissan frontier quit working. i see i'm not the only one by far to have this problem. *tr

Defect on level sensor of the fuel tank, caused the check engine light to come on, and the fuel meter to malfunction. this defect could lead to run out of gas at any time putting any passenger in danger while in the highway. this is a very common problem with nissan path finder, frontiers and many others especially 2005 to 2007 models. nissan dealers are charging about 600.00 dollars to fix something that they do defective and continue to do defectively. *tr

My 2006 nissan frontier has a problem with the fuel sending unit. the fuel sensor (part number 25060-zs00a) that is attached goes bad and gives inaccurate fuel level readings. this can cause a safety hazard if the driver is not given a correct read out of the amount of gas in the tank. this is a well known problem to nissan, they have a "service bulletin" for the problem as of october 4th, 2007, yet they have not issued a recall for the problem as it is a clear safety issue. i went to a nissan dealership in long beach ca (1800 e spring st, signal hill, ca' - (562) 426-0333') and they needed $100+ to begin to work on my truck, and another $400+ to fix it. seeing as how this is a safety issue i should not have to pay a dollar out of pocket. i called the nissan corporate number 1800nissan1. they informed me that i would still have to pay the money to get it fixed and they could not tell me if i could be reimbursed until after the repairs are made, and my money already spent. i have done research on the internet and found many people with the same problem i do. also, the service advisor at the nissan dealership i visited was already well aware of the problem as he had seen it numerous times in frontiers he has worked with. this shows that nissan is being negligent with this safety issue and it needs to be fixed. *tr

2006 nissan frontier pickup. gas senor, after filling gas gauge would not show full. then check engine light came on. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan frontier. i had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. after filling up my gas tank, i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 41k miles. after returning home and doing research, i went online to x.nissanhelp.com after performing a search, i came across many others who have experienced the same problem. apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600. *tr

2006 nissan frontier. problem with service engine soon(ses) light, napa diagnosed issue with a faulty fuel sending unit. this issue did initiate a recall on 2005 nissan vehicles (systemic to all), but not for later models (like mine). cost of repair: $400 or more at a dealership, at least $250 non-dealership. not covered under warranty if over 30k miles. problem typically occurs after 2-3 years of vehicle ownership. *tr

2006 nissan frontier le with 45,550 miles. fuel gauge stopped working and dropped to empty with a full tank of fuel. distance to empty and mpg dashboard data turned to just blinking dashes -------. check engine light illuminated. coral springs nissan, coral springs, fl would not take vehicle until fuel level was at 1/4 tank or below. i have to drive vehicle for 1 week to drop fuel level and deal with an inaccurate fuel gauge...never knowing truly how much fuel i had along the way. turned out diag. code p0463, under nsb07069a,,,which was fuel level sensor. fortunately car was covered under extended warranty with a $50.00 deductible....otherwise this is a 600.00 repair. this is an all too common nissan problem that nissan recognizes...some vehicles the fuel gauge never moves and you think you have fuel in the tank.....a safety issue!!! !nissan should be forced to do a recall on this issue. *tr

I own a 2006 nissan frontier, the fuel level sensor has gone bad. this is an internal part of the gas tank, not conducive to wear and tear. i have no idea the amount of gas i have in my vehicle because it affects the gas gauge reading zero. having children in the car,i can't afford to get stranded in middle of nowhere. cost of repair $400+. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge registered an inaccurate reading at any fuel level in the fuel tank. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the fuel tank sending unit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000. updated 04/05/11*lj updated 04/05/11

Service light comes on when fueling truck fuel gauge reads empty after fueling this happens every time i fill up. nissan refuses to recall the truck with bad fuel sensors. *tr

My frontier is experiencing a fuel gauge and/or a fuel sending unit failure. the gauge will read empty when there is fuel and in turn will indicate there is fuel when it is running out. i have run out of fuel on at least 3 occasions one of which was quite dangerous at highway speeds. i contacted nissan and they offered to pay half of the costs (which they say were unknown) to repair this. i believe this failure falls under nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 and is a safety recall. thus nissan should be held fully accountable to repair the vehicle of a known safety problem. the above failure date and mileage are approximate.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving at 10 mph, the contact noticed a soft whining noise coming from the engine. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the timing belt tension assembly was replaced. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. the current mileage was approximately 82,000. updated 07/12/10*jb updated 7/26/10 *cn the timing chain tensioner positioner assembly and fuel gauge had to be replaced. the consumer stated a recall had been issued regarding the fuel problem. the consumer stated he did receive a recall check, however it was for less than he paid for the repairs. updated 08/09/10*jb

2006 nissan frontier has a faulty fuel level sensor and the gas gauge works sporadically. this could cause the vehicle to run out of fuel and shut down and possibly cause a crash. *tr

06 frontier fuel sending unit gone haywire. gas gauge not working properly. have seen hundreds of the complaints w/same problem. nissan doesn't seem to worried about the problem, seeing there is no recall. sure hope me or my family is not stuck in a vulnerable situation because of it. i'm hearing that its a short in the wiring of the unit inside the fuel tank that doesn't sound to good to me. vehicle is out of warranty. *tr

My 2006 nissan frontier crew cab 4x4 had the fuel gauge quit and the service engine soon light (ses) come on after filling up with fuel around 46,800 miles. the fuel gauge started to work again a few days later but the light will not go off for the ses. this truck has been maintained and serviced above and beyond all manufacturer requirements. i bought this truck in sept of 2006 , so it is not even 3 years old but since the warranty ran out at 36,000 miles i can not go to the dealer because they don't care. i also have had numerous paint issues, fading, chipping and rust on this truck and have , as stated before always taken very good care of it. *tr

2006 frontier xe gas gauge registers wrong amt. or does not work period.this is the 3rd. fuel pump and sensor unit installed in this vehicle! i will not replace this part ror the fourth time! i guess someone will have to be injured or killed, when they run out of gas on the interstate, for an attorney to brings a class action suit against nissan and question nhtsa as to why the agency has not taken action . *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. the contact stated that fuel gauge did not work and she would have to periodically check the odometer to determine how much fuel was in the tank. she called the dealer and was referred to the manufacturer who advised her to file a complaint with nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000. the current mileage was approximately 70,000. updated 6/1/10 *cn the transmission was not acting properly and the air conditioner was not working. updated 06/04/10.*jb

Fuel gauge shows empty after filling up followed by 'service engine' light coming on and staying on. have researched on internet and numerous other complaints as well as verified by my dealer (bankston nissan, lewisville, tx). cost to repair $500. *tr

Fuel level gauge not indicating proper level. especially occurs immediately after fill up. sometimes within a day or so the gauge will move to correct level and work fine until the next fill up. other times gauge will show empty even with plenty of fuel in tank. the service engine light is also sporadic. this has been happening for over a year. mileage when first occurred 45000. *tr

At 41,000miles my 2006 nissan frontier v6 began having a malfunctioning fuel sending unit causing improper reading of the fuel gauge. upon researching this problem, i realized that this is a common problem affecting nissans with the 4.0l v6 in xterra's, pathfinders and frontiers. this usually occurs between 39k-49k miles. nissan has no recall for this and i feel this is a potential hazard considering that the fuel gauge is misreading. nissan wants their customers to pay $450 for a part that is defective on their part. tr

2006 nissan frontier 40,000 mi. gas gauge not working service engine soon light stays on. *tr

With 41,000 miles my 2006 nissan frontier is giving me an incorrect gas gauge reading. apparently this is a common issue with nissan that they are not addressing. *tr

2006 nissan frontier fuel sensor has issues at 39,000 miles. failure after fuel up. *tr

2006 nissan frontier le 4x4 - fuel sending issue. this will be the fourth replacement in 18 months. 2/28/09 ' approx. 38,000 miles,1/4 full, turned vehicle off to refuel, drove away approx 5 mile down the road fuel gage went to empty, fuel light came on, mileage driven screen below odometer blinks, and check engine light comes on. paid $380 to fix fuel sending issues. vehicle work fine - nissan recall comes out return to dealer and replaces for free. , 6/15/10 ' replaced at approx 63,000 miles, 3/4 full, start vehicle, fuel sender registers empty w/light on and mileage driven screen blinking, nissan replaces. 7/28/10 ' replaced at approx 65,000 mile, 1/4 full, fill vehicle, start vehicle, vehicle is slow to register full, takes about 10 miles to level out. fill vehicle a second time same issue slow to register full. full, start vehicle, vehicle registers empty, empty light on and mileage driven screen blinking. 8/09/10 ' approx 65,500 miles, vehicle full, turn vehicle on, same issues as above. called nissan again they say bring it in and they'll look again. *tr

2006 nissan frontier king cab fuel gauge sensor malfunction , 47 kmiles on truck reported 600 dollar repair at dealer, internet search , very common nissan needs to recall and repair, fault is corrosion on fuel tank electrical connection. *tr

The fuel sending unit has quit working for the second time which causes the fuel gauge to give false readings. nissan replaced the unit when it quit at 10000 miles under warranty but, now the vehicle is out of warranty and the unit is not working again. after talking with several owners of the same vehicle i found out we are all having the same problem, going through multiple units. nissan does seem to be fixing the problem but, just coving it up. after talking with the dealership they do not want to try to cover it, they want me to pay $400 for parts and labor which i am not going to do. besides the fact that $100 for parts and $300 for labor is outrageous i am not going to replace this part just have it fail again. this part should be on a recall because it is clearly defective and not a part that should have to be replaced 2, 3, or 4 times or even at 10000 miles. now my problem is the truck seems to be using more gas because of this. i have been going off of the mileage because i know my vehicle will do a little over 400 miles on a tank of gas but, it left me on the side of the highway in a bad neighborhood at 11:30 at night with 352 miles showing. my girlfriend also has to drive this truck and i fear her safety when she is driving the vehicle. she could get stuck in a bad neighborhood or in dallas, tx traffic it is not easy to get to the side of the road when it runs out of gas. also, this problem sets off the check engine light and the vehicle inspection is out. they will not let the vehicle pass with this on. *tr

2006 nissan frontier nismo's fuel gauge is erratic. it started at about 37,000 miles, but i ignored it because i had allowed the warning light to go on and thought that after a few fill ups it would register correctly, but it did not leaving me stranded on the road. the dealer, although they acknowledge this is a common defect in the vehicle, asked for over $400 to repair, which i do not have. now i have to keep filling the tank after every 200 -250 miles fearing i may run out of gas again. there should be a recall on this as it creates a safety hazard such as when i ran out of fuel on the turnpike. *tr

The fuel gauge in my 2006 nissan frontier is faulty. it either shows a lower level of gas than what is in the tank or it shows the tank is completely empty. it also causes the service engine light to appear. this started at about 38,000 miles. *tr

Error code po463 comes up on check engine light. fuel level sensor malfunctioning gas gauge still remains at empty even though the tank is full. seem to have a lot of people with nissan trucks having the same problem. *tr

Went out one morning to go to work and the fuel gauge read e. re-started the truck and the gauge went to 3/4 tank. drove to work and back, went shopping, than re-fueled and the gauge was on e again . the service engine light also came on at this time. called dealership and they said there was no recalls on it and that my warranty was expired, took the truck to a mechanic who cleaned a part near the tank and cleared out the codes. it worked for about a week. drove the truck that week and re-fueled. gas gauge stayed on e with the service engine back on. called dealer and the cost is around $700. waiting for the price from my mechanic. *tr

2006 nissan frontier pickup - gas gauge is sluggish to move upward after a fillup. takes several days to register accurate tank level. also, check engine light intermittently comes on. occasionally drops to empty and empty tank indicator light comes on and then gradually moves to correct level. have had in shop several times without success. vehicle has less than 50k miles on it. *tr
