Several times when driving my brake light will come on along the brake does not engage. when you press on the pedal you hear a loud grinding sound similar to springs being ejected from the car. it does not slow down the vehicle at all and the grinding is loud and seems to be damaging internal parts. when you turn the engine off, and restart it the problem goes away. i took it to the nissan dealership in fremont ca. they advised to change the brake pads and rotors. which i elected to do and cost me a lot of money. immediately after leaving the dealership it happened again. i called the next day for they were closed. they said that they didn't see any errors on their reader and cannot replace parts when there are nothing showing. i insisted to take it in and the mechanic suggested i clean the battery or get a new battery which i did. the problem stoped for a month until it happened again while driving 50mph down a windy road. it nearly killed me! the closest description i have of the problem is explained on this youtube video i found https://youtu.be/jvcrd2lxti8
Vehicle suddenly would not start on 12/21/2019, thus leaving my family and i stranded in a brand new vehicle. (reported to nissan roadside assistance) bci malfunction warning (see photo) and the vehicle began to automatically apply the brake as i was driving and i could not override it. i feel this is a safety issue, as i had no control over the vehicle whatsoever. vehicles automatic emergency braking system applies the brakes while in motion and when i do not intend for the brakes to be applied, causing severe anxiety and fear of driving my brand new $60k vehicle
The brake light on the control panel lights up and when stepping on the brake pedal the vehicle does not brake, instead is feels like it's skidding. when this happens i have to slowly try to pull over and come to a stop to then turn the vehicle off. when i restart the vehicle is it usually starts performing normally again and the brakes work fine. this is a huge safety concern for me due to the fact that i never know when this is going to happen again. what if it happens while i need to come to a quick emergency stop?! thankfully i am a safe driver and always drive within the speed limits which helps me bring the vehicle to a stop quicker.
Vehicle didn't want to start, towed to closest dealer (south austin nissan) for repair of brake switch. they also updated faulty software.
Driving in traffic causes brakes to lock as if the parking brakes were set. i have to pull over safely to the side of the road and place the vehicle in park, press on the parking foot brake to engage and disengage the brakes, turn off and on the vehicle to "reset" the brakes. it happened a few times especially on the freeway. in all multiple occasions nearly rear ending the vehicle in front of me especially when i have my family with me in the vehicle. when this occurs the brake light comes on, on the dash. happens on both the freeway and the city streets in motion and once when the brakes was press in traffic.
As i was leaving with passengers from store was getting on street heard a loud noise like hit something from underneth vehicle. went away as traveling was hearing a scrapping noise from passenger side rear. then got louder like something was about to bust like metal to metal grinding, scratching, popping. noise rear passenger
While driving the brake light will illuminate and the brakes will fail while being pressed. when the the light comes on the brake booster fails to operate and the while will not stop. there was a lawsuit filed against nissan back in 2014 for a delta stoke sensor which is what nissan calls the brake booster. when i looked up my vehicle with nissan no recall was issued yet my vehicle falls within the same year. this is a major safety concern that needs to be looked into.
Just recently purchased this huge monstrosity for my 3 children; today as we were driving the brakes completely went out! 10% braking power. now im reading a 2016 class action and a lawsuit where a peron was killed. there are multiple posts regarding this issue. nissan needs to recall this before more people are killed!
Braking system seems to go in/out intermittently while driving or when stopped. you can begin rolling even when the brakes are applied while stopped. it also will not allow you to start the vehicle unless you stomp on the break pedal. and in a few situations it has not allowed me to take the vehicle out of park unless stopping on the brake pedal if the car is running my mechanic and various website blog report and determine this might be a booster sensor issue which is not being issued for recall
My wife was driving my children on the highway at approximately 55mph and the 'brake' icon suddenly flashed red on the dash. my wife attempted to apply the brakes and they did not function or respond other than by making a grinding noise. the pedal was able to go to the floor but with no braking accomplished. to stop the vehicle she had to downshift and let it coast to a stop in a parking lot that was fortunately on her path of travel. there are no leaks in the braking system and the nearby nissan dealership said it had thrown a c1179 code for a brake booster sensor. turns out this is a common issue with these models and nissan lost a class action lawsuit about the issue in california in 2014. several other owners have reported the exact same scenario on various nissan forums. it is a wonder my wife and children were not in an accident.
