On average, the 2006 Nissan Armada starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 99 215 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2006 Nissan Armada

This is the 5th time this had happened in one year, my brake light would come on for no reason and i would have no brakes, i check my fluid and pad nothing was wrong please call a recall before someone dies

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan armada. while decelerating from 70 mph, the brakes failed to engage. the contact continued to depress the brake pedal with force until the anti-lock braking system engaged. the contact veered to the shoulder of the road and turned off the vehicle. once it was restarted, the vehicle resumed normal operation. the failure was experienced several times. banister nissan of chesapeake (930 n battlefield blvd, chesapeake, va 23320, (757) 214-6342) was contacted to schedule a diagnostic test. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be located. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

The emergency and importance to recall my vehicle which is a 06 nissan armada and i'm sure there is plenty more out there. the issue is that my brakes will not engage out of nowhere. they will stop working and it feels as if the brakes are locking and grinding . this happens when going down hill , the most dangerous times it has happened to me is driving while in the freeway.

Brakes failure ( suddenly brake light on ) "i was on my way home from work and a car cut me off, brake lights came on, i stepped on my brakes and the brakes went down to the floor and i heard and felt a grinding noise. i immediately drove out the way and thank god there was no vehicles parked in the area i had turned into. then after that i did turn off the vehicle then turn it on and everything wors good but anyway driving with a lot concerning that might be happen again. i did take it to the dealer but they said could not find anything wrong, anyway they charge me about $ 200 dollars for the test. note; this already happened five times, three of them on just one day(02/15/2018) hope that nissan company understand that this defect/ failure is very dangerous and needs to be attended very seriously. For several month now off and on while i'm driving the truck makes a loud noise, steering wheel shakes then i heard a spring noise. it almost feels like the truck is going to fall apart. then the slip amd vdc off sensor comes on. then it stops sensor lights go away. then it happens again, it's been real frequent lately.

Adc slip light come on the car cut off and have no power motion and in park hightway and street

This is my second time with brake failure due to a faulty brake booster. the first time in 2011 and now in 2018. brake light comes on and grinding noise with very little brake pressure. taken to dealership brake booster replaced $982. my question is did they replace defective parts with upgrade. it is a well known issue that to me nissan is ignoring till there is a fatal accident. dealer states delta sensor faulty.

My husband purchased an 06 nissan armada. while he was driving on the freeway he went to slow down and the brake light came on and the pedal went to the floor and made a weird grinding noise. he pulled over and shut the vehicle off. was waiting for a tow truck to arrive. after he restarted it, it drove fine. took it to nissan themselves and they found nothing but recommended a brake booster. this has happened multiple times to us. again just recently, i was with my daughter in the vehicle and had to run through a red light because i was unable to stop.the emergency brake light came on but the brake was not engaged. there was a loud grinding noise as if i needed rotors. i let the vehicle slow down and i pulled over in a safe area and shut the vehicle off. after restarting it after 5 mins the vehicle drove fine. i had my father hook his code reader up and we came up with a code c1179 which is a delta stroke sensor. researched the code and found that nissan had multiple lawsuits for this issue but never issued a recall for it. i contacted nissan themselves about this issue and the gentleman that i spoke to at nissan told me that since my vehicle was not built in a certain factory they would not fix the issue and that his suggestion was that if i had a good repoire with the nissan dealership close to me they may be able to help me with the cost. the lawsuit never specified a certain factory the vehicles came out of. it stated 2004-2008 nissan titan and armada or infinity qx56. i could not believe that nissan is aware of this issue, has been sued not once but multiple times and is still refusing to deal with the issue.

My vehicle is having a complete brake failure. this is happened numerous times since i purchased my vehicle. i called the dealership and there is no recalls on this issue. as i'm driving my brake light comes on and i lose all control of breaking. this has happened numerous times while i've been on 95 with my two kids in the car. i've had my brakes and rotors replaced thinking that was the issue and it happened again when i was on 95 i lose all control of stopping the brake light comes on and i cannot stop my vehicle. i looked up this issue online and there are so many other people having this issue. i hope this gets resolved because i will never buy a nissan vehicle ever again.

The brakes fail when brake sensor turns on periodically while car is in motion. this happens without warning. the only way to resolve this is to turn off the car. i have been in many near accidents because of this manufacturing defect that many owners have complained about.

Issue with abs engaging at inappropriate times at low speeds creating an inability to brake. my wife drove through a stop sign with all 4 of my kids the first time it happened and lucked out. it just happened again today. at a speed of only 4 miles per hour, i noticed the brake light came on, i drove through the green light, only accelerating enough to get to a side road. when i tried to brake, there was a crunching/grinding noise from under the hood. after the first time this occurred to my wife, i replaced the brake booster (hell of a job) and i installed new rotors and pads all the way around as the brake booster was told to be the issue after nissan was sued for the problem as it grew. it still never became a tsb and i have a half ton death trap in my driveway.

Intermittently, and for no apparent reason, the brake light comes on while the car is in motion. this causes greatly diminished braking power (it feels like a vacuum has released and it is very difficult to stop). the only way to rectify this is to stop and turn the car off completely and then restart it. this is ok on city streets but is very scary on the highway. i have had a nissan dealer look at it multiple times but since the car checks out mechanically and they cannot recreate the situation, they can't figure out why this happens.

When trying to stop the abs brakes engage and the car is almost impossible to stop. i have had this vehicle looked at and different parts changed but the problem keeps coming back. i had the brakes changed, brake booster and clock spring changed. the vdc and slip lights will randomly come on and the abs engages while driving. almost caused a wreck the other day but i was able to maneuver around vehicles and then stop. this also happened back in 2011 with this same vehicle we had the brake booster changed and the problem went away until now. the brake booster was evaluated and scanned and checked out ok. last time it cost $1,000 dollars to fix it, but is now a problem again.

Brake light came one and tried to stop but a loud sound came from the brakes like a grinding sound. the brakes pads are good but sounds like a brake booster problem. i could barely stop to avoid wrecking into someone else.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan armada. while driving 55 mph, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. deland nissan in deland, florida was made aware of the failure and stated that the brake booster needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 145,000.

My vehicle was acting completely normal no dash lights until i went to stop at a stop light thats when i applied the brakes to come to a stop my breakes were soft grinding noise and did not want to stop. i look at the dash and the break light was on i pulled to the shoulder of the road put in the parking break and released it. still same issue. turned the truck off then back on and now is working completely normal again. after doing research this is a very common problem on the nissan armadas and titans. it is found to be a faulty break booster and sensor. i had 2 of my children with me. it was a frightening experience not knowing if i was going to be able to stop my vehicle. nissan needs this booster to be recalled. there is absolutely no warning that you may loose your breaks.

Brake failure. i have the same problem as many. brake light comes on and all of sudden no brakes and loud noises. this has happened for a few years and have received no help from nissan dealer. once i restart vehicle, it works like normal.

I was in stop and go traffic when a grinding/springy sound came out from under and the :brake" light came on. i had no control over the brake pedal, it would go all the way down to the floor but would not stop, luckily i was on a flat road so it didn't move forward or backwards. i was still able to drive the car to a safe spot and used my emergency brakes to get there. if i were going at a high speed, i don't know what would have happened. you can replace a car, but you can't replace a person. i have an 8 month old baby who needs me. my brother in law is a mechanic for all types of cars and has been for years, he told me this is a well known problem with armadas (04-07). mine is an 06. at this point i have to keep turning off my car and back on to restart some computer? i am not good with cars. if this happens at a high speed and i can't stop because of this issue it is on your hands.you know there is a problem, yet do nothing about it. this armada is a deathtrap. i do not feel safe in it, but i don't have the money to buy another vehicle. my brother in law suspects it is the abs, vdc, brake malfunction. i was speaking to someone else about this issue, and they said they had the same issue on their, and once when a light turn red and he tried to stop he couldn't and ended up in the middle of an intersection. does someone have to die before anything is done?

Brakes going in and out while driving making it very difficult to stop. mechanic says delta s sensor code came up and this is very common for this make, model and year. also said to report it since it is a huge safety issue. feels like the brakes are bouncing on the rotors and barley stopping the car. while waiting for the light to turn green feels like car is still trying to go forward while brakes are bouncing on the rotors.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan armada. while driving various speeds, the brakes erroneously activated abruptly and stopped the vehicle. during the incident, smoke was present coming from the brakes. the vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who replaced the brake cylinder, but the failure continued. the manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 170,000.

On the date of july 12, 2017 i was on the freeway on my way to work. traffic was moderate. as i attempted to brake i noticed it made springy grinding sound, and the brakes did not function as well. i also noticed that the red brake light indicator was on. in a safe and desperate manner, i immediately pulled over to shoulder and put my vehicle on park. after i placed my vehicle on park, i turned it off and turned off, then i turned it back on. once i turned it back on, i noticed that the brake light was no longer on and the brakes were working fine. on july 13, 2017, while traveling with my wife and kids to disneyland, i experienced the same incident again. as i attempted to brake, the brakes made a loud springy grinding sound. in addition the brakes did not function as well and the brake light was on. this time i was not able to pull over to shoulder due to heavy traffic. i had to activate my emergency lights and turn off and turn on my vehicle in the middle lane. please adhere to this major safety concern immediately. thank you

While driving on the highway my brake light came on. when i exited the highway i tried to apply my brakes i had very little brakes. there was a loud noise coming from the front of my vehicle when i tried to brake. i finally got the vehicle to stop in a safe location, turned the car off, restarted the vehicle, the problem went awake. this recently happened again on the city street. i pulled off of the street, turned off the vehicle the problem went away. i really fear for my life because i barely have any brakes when this happens. the brake petal is pushed all the way to the floor before the vehicle can stop. this happens periodically.

The break light will come on while driving and then the breaks do not work but if you shout off the car and restart the light goes off and the breaks works just fine after that

While driving my nissan armada it goes thru a complete loss of brakes when all of a sudden the brake light sensor comes on. it seems to happen in cycles like every month or so but when the car is turned off and then on again the problem disappears, until the next time. this is a definite manufacturing malfunction as many people have blogged about the same issue. many have claimed it's an abs or booster brake issue but there is no way to tell. a recall is necessary before a major tragedy occurs.

Tl* the contact owned a 2006 nissan armada. while driving approximately 35 mph and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal fractured while being depressed and caused the contact's vehicle to crash into the rear of a second vehicle. during the crash, the vehicle was destroyed and the front end was severely damaged; however, the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed and the vehicle was towed. the driver sustained a concussion and the front passenger sustained a neck abrasion. medical attention was required. the cause of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 175,000. ....updated 06/21/17 *bf ...updated 08/02/17 *bf updated 10/06/17 *bf ..updated 10/11/17*bf updated 10/23/17 *bf updated 11/2/2017*js *cn *js *js *tr

I am having issues with my brake light that keeps coming on while i am driving. and when i hit the brakes my truck jerks badly, my brake light comes on, my brake pedal vibrates while stopping. i was told i need my brake booster replaced which was done and i am still having the same issues. i was told by the mechanic the code c1179 is the issues. the code is nissan - delta stroke sensor malfunctioning which only nissan can fix the problem (and there is a service bulletin for this issues as well). what needs to happen for nissan to address this issue that is going on with several trucks. i don't like the feeling of driving and cannot stop or feel as if i am going to hit someone i have children and i don't want to get into an accident with them or anyone else within the truck because of this issue. if there is a service bulletin about this code c1179 why is nissan not being held responsible for the issues and cost? i have fixed everything that is causing the issue and now i have to have my truck reprogrammed which is costing me more. this issue has been going on for more than 8 months and it is now 11/2017.

Every so often the brake light comes on and the brakes screech and don't respond when step on the brake pedal. what i do is turn of the car and for some reason this seems to do a reset and the car goes back to normal. this is very dangerous because if it happens when you're driving and brake you can crash.

Brake keep going out while driving doesn't happen all the time... but when it happen the brake light on and when you try to step on the brake it shake and grind... i report this a coupe time already and still nothing happen...and with the airbag light keep coming on and when i reset it two day later it come right back on. *tr

Own a 2006 nissan armada le. started my truck and the brake, vdc, slip, and 4wd lights lit up on the dashboard. thought it appeared because it was getting cold. drove a couple of blocks down a city a street and heard a loud grinding noise when the brakes were pressed and the truck jolted a little bit. after another block, lights went away and didn't have more any issues on the way home. when i got home, turn the truck off and restarted the truck, no lights. did a google search and read many issues relating to this. a couple a days later checked the truck, on start-up...no lights, then when i put it in drive, the same lights lit up. took it to the dealership, lights were lit, brakes engaged, and speedometer was fluctuating and then didn't move. when i arrived at the dealership, speedometer activated again when the truck was put in park. nissan dealership did a diagnostic test and the advisor indicated both the ecm and abs actuator assembly were fried and needed to be replaced, $3,100 to start out with. truck is still at the shop, no work has started. notified nissan customer relations since there is a known issue, waiting to hear back. also called another dealership to see what they could tell me and it was mentioned that there is a known issue. called the service dept. back the next day and talked to another advisor, the advisor indicated since there are some are hard codes (u1000, u1001) displayed with the ecm and abs assembly, the systems potentially need to be replaced.

Brake issues grinding turn car off stops brake light comes on when a problem but goes of when restarted. see attached lawsuit.

I was going down east chase parkway in fort worth going towards green oaks blvd into arlington texas and my brakes went out. i heard a grinding noise and my truck wouldn't stop. so, i pulled over and car my truck off and on and the problem seemed to go away. i proceeded on my way and they went out again and i almost rear ended a 18-wheeler with my two babies in the car. i immediately ran up on a curb to not hit the semi. and, immediately went to a brakes shop and was told it was my brake booster kit that was attached to the abs system. that was recalled and since i didn't find out til later and didn't have problems til later on i got screwed and had to pay over $1300.00 dollars to fix it. and, have yet to be reimbursed which i think sucks. *tt *tr

Brakes failed to operate correctly causing my wife to rear end the vehicle in front of her. damaging both vehicles i am glad that her or my two sons who were in the vehicle and the other person were not hurt. nissan is aware of the brake issues related to the nissan armada and titan

As i was driving my armada i heard a noise and felt that something was wrong with my breaks. i tried to brake and my breaks wouldn't respond, it also sounded like my breaks were hitting metal with metal, the break light also came on. after pushing the break pedal several times it stopped had to turn on my emergency lights as i stopped at a main street. i turned off the car and back on my brake light turned off and drove home through the small streets since was afraid that the breaks wouldn't work again.

Braking system doesnt work properly at times. brake light on dash lights up and brakes pulsate like it would if you are trying to stop on ice. after restart vehicle it will be ok until it happens again.

The brake light would display in the car. there is a loud grinding noise which happen when breaking. after car is turned off and turned back on its like nothing ever happen. this situation happens randomly.

The brake light randomly turns on. when trying to brake there is a very loud grinding noise. the noise is scary and the brakes work but not as well. this has happen to me while i'm driving. i have to stop turn the truck off then the brake light disappears and starts working again. it's hard to diagnose because it's random. it has happened more than once, i was told it might be a brake booster but can't tell for sure because when i take it to the shop it's normal.

Check engine light is on

While driving and slowing down the break lights come on and you can hear a grinding sound and the vehicle begins to pulse. the only way to quickly fix the problem is to restart the car. i've taken the armada to my local dealership to rectify the problem. however, the technicians drive the vehicle around the lot for a few minutes and say they do not notice any problems with the breaks. this issue has a potential to generate fetal outcomes. fortunately for my family, we have not been in harms way. the problem has been on going since we purchased the vehicle in may 2006.

While driving on the road at slow normal speed the brake pedal went to floor no braking available with kids in my car this is a known problem with nissan armada brake debooster valve equipped with delta sensor . safety issue that needs to be a recall to resolve this problem. during this no braking the abs light illuminates and slip warning and brake warning light illuminates the only way to resolve this is by safely pulling over and turning the ignition off which then might resolve this problem. took my car to the dealership they exactly know what the problem is they got the code c1179 which clearly outlines a bad delta sensor within the brake debooster valve . i believe nissan has know this problem and has not yet made a recall o this issue will like the transport safety board look into this electrical, software , mechanical problem before it's too late whereby innocent lives could be lost . there needs to be a safety recall . the dealership also wants to charge for the software upgrade and yet said this might not fix the problem but if it happens again then the brake debooster valve would have to be replaced , i am shocked to know that they know it's a safety issue but yet tend to ignore this problem frustrated consumer .

I was driving my kids to school and as i approached a stop sign, i noticed my brake light, vdc light and slip light came on. when i pressed on my brakes it made a grinding sound and would not come to a complete stop. i had to jerk my car into neutral and then try to put it into park. when i pressed my brake pad it went all the way down to the ground and then i was able to put my car into park. this all happened while driving in the flow of traffic pulled over and parked, i turned my car off, when i restarted my car the light were off and i drove on my way.

I have had this happen multiple times. i am driving and the brake light goes on on the dash. when i attempt to apply the brakes the whole car shakes and makes a loud noise. the car barely slows. eventually if i get the car stopped and i restart it the problem goes away. no one has been able to find out what the issue is but it happens to a lot of armada owners. it's terrifying. it usually happens if i am driving, then turn the car of and then on again within a few minutes. the brakes will fail and i can only get them to work correctly if i restart the car.

Original odi #10745373 - 11/19/2010 still unresolved. review of nc dmv - 340 (rev.3/2001) with insurance company, insurance affiliated collision repair shop and nissan of north america confirmed acknowledgment of rotor/ brake damage during repairs. the collision repair shop and (nissan)modern service mgr. both internally notated the issue until the claim was confirmed by a nissan service tech (5936) on 12/21/2010 during a collision re-inspection. front/ rear brake pad replacement has not resolved the rotor issue confirmed during 2010 repairs. brake pads were not worn to require replacement during inspections to address concerns. the nissan edr issue has remained unaddressed by the insurance company while nissan has provided all warranty/ recall services for the vehicle from 2006 to the present. geico has provided a guarantee of all losses related to collision on 12/07/2010. *js

After picking my kids up from school, i was exiting the highway, and as i pressed on the brakes they began grinding loudly, the vehicle seized up, and the brake light came on. i was able to maintain control of the vehicle and come to a complete stop. however, unfortunately, that's due to the fact that this is the 3rd time this has happened in the last year, and i knew what was happening. i also know that if i turn off the vehicle, and restart it the problem goes away, making it impossible to diagnose, "code-wise." each time this has happened, i have been slowing down either, on the interstate, or exiting it, going at least 60mph. i have 6 children, and this is our family vehicle. they have been with me 2 out of the 3 times this has happened. had i needed to make an abrupt stop when this happened, the turnout might have yielded in injury, or worse, for multiple people. i have new brakes and rotars, my brake lines have no leaks, and it has been serviced at a nissan dealership with a full diagnostic check up. they fixed older recalls and changed my belts. there are clearly enough people with the same exact year model, at different milages, in and out of warranty, to warrant this as a defect. this is a major safety concern with the driver and passengers of this vehicle, as well as others on the road. please do something about this!

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan armada. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle started to shake violently and made an unusual noise as the brake pedal was depressed. the brake light illuminated. the vehicle was merged to the side of the road and was towed to a dealer. the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified, but did not offer any assistance. the failure mileage was 85,000. updated 12/03/15*lj the consumer stated the part in question, was called the delta stroke sensor, updated 12/21/155.*jb

I was driving and towing a sea doo to the dealer. as i approached the driveway, i lost my brakes by greater than 50%. they were grinding and sounded like abs was on. this continued as i crept along the driveway. the brake light also came on during this time. once the car was turned off and back on, the error reset. the dealer was not able to find anything wrong and the car drove fine. as i researched my issue, i found many items that match the description that i experienced today. they all had no luck at the dealer in diagnosing a problem. nissan has even settled a lawsuit pertaining to a brake experience that was similar to mine today.

Today friday may 01 2015 i've had the brake problem twice, first i was driving around 20ml/hr suddenly i see the vdc, slip and brake signs on then i had to park and turn off and on the engine for reset but 15min later when i reached the walmart parking lot the same problem happened again, i made a video and picture. *tr

Me and my wife bought a 2006 armada in august 2014, i did not really drive it that much but last month march 2015 ive got the same experience as everybody, i wall pulling to sams club parking lot and suddenly i lost the brakes and i felt a grinding that was so scary and thank god i didnt hit that truck was passing, then when i was leaving sams club the problem went away, i wasnt sure what the problem because i never experienced that, then last april 20 2015 right on the red light i got the same problem i was around 20mil/hr, i went straight to the mechanic, they said this problem need to be fixed with nissan dealership and they cant do anything unfortunately, i scheduled an appointment with crown nissan for fri 24 2015 , all they did its reprogramming and im still waiting because im pretty sure this will not fix the issue according to people experience. *tr

'was driving and getting ready to stop on a 3 way stop intersection, as soon as i step on the brake , a grinding noise was heard coming from the brakes at the same time the brake light on the dash came on. seems like the brakes lock up and it's hard to make a full stop. fortunately, 'was able to pull over on the side of the road. turned key in the ignition switch on and off, the brake light on the dash disappeared and the grinding noise went away.this is the second time these incidents happened. the first time it happened (about a year ago- same issue), i brought the armada to mossy nissan poway. they have to re-code the ecu and i have to pay something like $300 for the work done. nissan should do something about this safety issue. nhtsa, please order a recall for this vehicle before an injury or something fatal happens to anyone who drives it. *js

I bought the vehicle used fall 2014. dec 2014 (1st instance) i was leaving parking lot when my brake light came on and my brakes made a weird grinding noise & i couldn't stop. when i did get it to stop i tried pumping the brakes thinking it was fluid, but i checked and fluid level was full. i started it again and seem like it was fine. didn't happen again til mth half later, same thing. i pumped brakes, shut vehichle off, restarted and it cleared up. however, yesterday june 29, 2015 i was trying to get off interstate and was coming down off ramp behind other vehicles trying to exit and my brakes started acting up again. i know that i have new brakes and plenty of brake fluid. i took it to the garage where i normally have work done and was told i need to take it to dealer. since i bought it used, there is no longer warranty and i don't have money to get it fixed. i have to have vehicle, im single mom taking care of my mom and 2 disabled sisters. im the only one driving but i don't want to risk their life, someone elses life or mine if i cant get brakes to work properly.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan armada. the contact stated while driving at various speeds attempting to engaged the brakes, an abnormal noise emitted from the rear of the vehicle as the abs, slip and vdc warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 45,000.
