Recently reported EXTERIOR LIGHTING problems on 2015 Nissan Altima

Low beam headlights are too dim. i can't see well at night as a result. dealer told me the bulbs are fine and that the problem resides with the headlight assembly. film has developed on the lense/projector. nissan wants to charge me $1,300 to fix this which is unacceptable. my car is well kept (garaged)...

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan altima. the contact stated that the light projected from the headlamps were extremely dim and insufficient for safe vehicle operation. the vehicle was taken to ricart nissan dealer, (4255 s hamilton rd, # 190, groveport, oh 43125, (614) 836-6506) where the contact was informed that the vehicle was not part of a recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. no additional assistance was provided. the failure mileage was approximately 95,400.

The headlights on this vehicle have been replaced twice. i have had the nissan dealer check these headlights and they say there is nothing wrong with them. the headlights are a severe safety hazard for night driving. i have to use my brights to be able to see at night. my granddaughter borrowed my car and she thought the headlights were off. these headlights need a safety recall before someone gets killed.

Low beam lights are extremely faint when driving at night or bad weather it's extremely difficult to see everyone always asks if i have my lights on. i don't even drive at night or bad weather anymore due to the lack of lighting being projected from my 2015 nissan altima it's too unsafe for myself and others in my car and i have 20/20 vision so it's not my eyes!

Low beam headlights are very dim. (high beam is fine.) low beams are so dim you have to also use the fog/driving lights to see at night, my car has them, some models don,t. changing the bulbs did not help at all, outside lens is clear. using high beams at night irritates and is dangerous to on coming drivers. i don't like driving like that at all. low beams should be bright enough to be see, they are not.

Headlights are very dim. bulbs were changed and don't help. after reading online this is a common issue. the entire assembly needs to be replaced for both headlights. we can only drive at night with the high beams on! this is very dangerous. this occurs all the time and has gotten progressively worse.

The headlights on my 2015 nissan altima have continued to get dim. i can barely see at night, while parked or driving. it looks like my lights are not on at all from the driver's seat. my brights work fine. i changed both bulbs to led and there is no change. this is extremely dangerous. i am going to buy new headlight assemblies for both the driver and passenger side.

My headlights are getting dimmer and dimmer. i replaced the bulbs twice. but they are still dimming. now having to use high beams all the time.

When i had brought my car less than one month later the headlights was not working only the high beam works.

Have owned car for 2.5 years. initially headlights appeared fine. the headlights brightness of the headlights has degraded so much that i believe night driving puts the driver at great risk. visibility with low beams seem more like parking lights. no useful lighting for more than a few feet. the high beam now serve as my low beam and they appear to be declining. this is extremely unsafe and unsettling! i asked the dealership initially thinking it was the bulb. they said it wasn't the bulb, but the reflectors. they acknowledge that this has been a reported problem. a recall has not been made! this is clearly an accident waiting to happen. i'm totally fearful if it should rain as it further reduces the limited visibility. amazing that this problem and concern that seems to have been around for at least a few years continues to go unaddressed.

Lights are very dim on low beam. the headlight assembly has a manufacture defect that makes it dangerous to drive at night. replacement for both headlight assembly's cost around $800. i am scared to drive at night because i can't see.

When vehicle was purchase from dealer, the headlights worked great. now the headlights are so dim while driving at night it is almost impossible to see the white and yellow lines on the road ahead of you. when contacting the dealership their answer was 'we're aware of the problem' and recommended buying new headlights at 800$ a pop. after further investigation and research i find this is in fact a manufacturing defect and several thousand complaints have been made. when can i expect a recall on this potentially deadly issue? i along with many others have been taken by a car manufacturer that puts profits before safety. without the nhtsa standing up for the public this will continue to become and remain a issue for innocent and needless fatalities.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan altima. the contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the low beam head lights failed to illuminate adequately. the head light bulbs were replaced but the failure recurred. the cause of the failure was not determined. the local dealer mcguire nissan located at 716 west genesee st, syracuse ny 13204, (315) 802-4432 was contacted and notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 68,000.

Low beam lights very dim. cannot see well at night at all, it's like i have no lights. changing them did not help. i'm only 40 and have no vision problems. the seatbelt light comes on and off while driving and my seatbelt is on. nissian cannot pull a code on why.

The headlights of my nissan altima 2015 is really week and is becoming weaker day by day to the point it's hazardous to drive at night especially in rain, snow or fog. i have noticed that there is accummulation of water vapor inside the headlight assembly. they don't go away.

The headlights are dim and there is no way ti fix them. it;s becoming very dangerous to drive at night cause you cannot see nothing ahead of the car

My low beam headlights are so dim that i have to run the high beams to see at night, i googled this and there is web page after web pages of forums with altima owners with the same problem, not the bulb, but the reflective coating inside the light assembly and nissan is charging 1000 bucks to change out the assembly. you cant see the road if there is an oncoming vehicle, someone is going to get hurt badly i noticed the lawers in californa and texas getting a lawsuit against nissan for this issue, there should be a recall to fix this. i have had a few recalls for both my altima s, a seat belt and back door, but there will not be a seat belt or door if you run off the road or a head-on collision because you can't see in front of your car. it is impossible to drive a night if it is raining, just don't do it, please help us nissan altima owners

Lens in the headlight housing is burnt off to the point it is unsafe to drive at night. big safety issue. very dangerous.

The headlights on this car continue to get dimmer. they are at the point where it isnt driveable at night. i contacted the dealer because the car is under a certified warranty and they along with nissan corporate told me its not their problem. i even replaced the bulbs with brighter sylvania bulbs but it made no difference. people have similar complaints all over the internet so clearly it is a problem as the car is not safe at night. can you help?

This is the 3rd complaint. i now have no light projecting from a good bulb on the driver side headlight and there is only 1 foot of projection of light coming from the passenger side headlight. i am now driving with my high beams at night. i fear for my safety, the safety of my passengers and the public that i drive behind with my high beams on. nissan needs to fix this defect before someone is hurt or killed. i try not to drive at night, but i do have things i need to do or people i need to see that puts my in driving at night. i love my car and i am close to paying it off, so i won't be going into another car loan. i want nissan to fix this defective issue asap.

Stock headlights are very dim! polarized lens not very effective

I am told at the nissan dealer that they know that the projection lens on the headlights only last about 2 years and then the customer must spend about $1200 to replace the headlight assemblys. the dim headlights are so dim, on unlit roads, you must run the brights at all times in order to see the road and the curb. nissan does not honor any type of warranty on this issue, however they have given their service dept a bullitin so that they know of this problem. this should be a recall.

The driver'side low beam head light does not provide any side light all or front light greater than 10 feet. the light bulbs for both low beams were replaced with led bulbs 02/03/2019, which made no difference in the driver's side power. the lack of light power makes driving at night extremely difficult especially left turns which has almost caused me to have had an accident due to the inability to see during a left turn. this problem began in june 2017, the car was purchased new in march 2015.

Dim headlight problem

The headlights on low beam are becoming less effective at lighting up the road at night. this began in 2017, but has gotten worse. the high beams work just fine, but the low beams are terribly dim on roads that have no street lights. on roads with street lights, i feel like i'm driving with the lights turned off. the car is becoming dangerous to drive at night.

Low-beam headlights became increasingly dim over several months to the point where there is no forward street illumination. i now must always drive with bright hi-beam lights on. on-coming drivers often flash for me to dim/lower the brights causing a safety hazard for both me and the approaching driver. dealer technician confirms that bulbs are fully functional with normal dim brightness and do not need replacing. the only remedy suggested is for both left and right headlamp assemblies be replaced costing over $1000 each. this on a four year old car suggests to me that this is a manufacturer's responsibility. a 30 second on-line search instantly shows that other 2013-2015 nissan altima owners have the same problem with their cars.

My headlight dim not bright never was perfect even beginning time by time getting worse may getting more worse last years . i replaced light bulb but didn't changed same dim l afraid to drive evening not safe to drive if rainy day i don't drive at all because u cant see nothink these head light that bad . .l bought my car beginning to 2016 only 4 years old car.

Lens in the headlight assembly has burnt off and the car is unsafe to drive at night. numerous issues with this problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan altima. the contact stated that, over time, the front headlamps dimmed significantly, which affected his visibility while driving at night. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the bulbs were replaced; however, the failure continued. the vehicle was not repaired. an attempt was made to contact the manufacturer, but was unsuccessful. the dealer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000. the vin was unknown.

Extremely dim low beam headlights. i can barely see more than a few car lengths ahead of me and it feels very unsafe at night. i need this to be fixed.

Lights just got dim and kept getting dim. rook it to a repair shop and they said it was a shortage somewhere.

Headlights r so dim that at night it seems they are off. the lens cover is not oxidized and the bulbs are only two years old.

I have nissan altima 2015 for 4 years. i have a real problem with headlights that limited my driving during night or dark situation. the first year of my car, the headlights were fine and work, but in the second year, headlight becomes more dimer. on the second year, i took it for va inspection, and the inspector told me to take care of your headlights. after a while i noticed, it becomes more dimer. i cannot see 10 feet in front of my car. i almost hate two person and many times i hated the island or midden. i am ok and the car did not have big damage or problem. today, i took it for yearly inspection, and the inspector did not pass the inspection in the same kind of condition. i promise her that i fix my car and show it to her in two weeks. otherwise, she never passed my inspection in next year.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan altima. while driving at night, the headlights did not project or illuminate brightly enough to view the road. the vehicle was taken to carmax (located at 130 mason mcknight jr pkwy, augusta, ga 30907, (706) 650-1248) and the headlight bulbs were replaced. the contact stated that the bulb replacement did not correct the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

Headlights dangerously dim. no visibility driving after dark. lights does not illuminate road. cannot see anything in front or see curbs or people crossing roads. this is a known issue with 2013-2015 nissan cars. it is so unsafe to drive at night as you cannot see anything in front of car. changed bulbs twice, brought new headlight assembly and still had same problem after 7 mos. nissan should recall headlight before someone dies due to their faulty headlights and their silence

I've now replaced my headlights a second time in less than a month and no change. when i drive on streets, highways, or when i turn at dark i have no visibility from my headlights.the lights aren't proejecting enough light so that i can see three feet ahead of me. other vehicles pull up behind me and their headlights show a shadow in front of me. nissan wants to charge me $200 to look at them to tell me i what's wrong. i'm concerned for my safety and the safety of others.

The headlights are too dim (low beams). you can't not see 3 feet up front and there is no solution. night driving is a serius safety issue and as the car gets older the problem increases.

Headlights have become extremely dim on low beam. cannot see even a few feet ahead, cannot see anything on the sides like curbs. makes it treacherous to drive after dark. i almost hit a pedestrian twice in the last month because i could not see them without the brights on. barely bright enough to pick up on the reflective buttons that mark lanes. can't see enough of the street to make turns, without running the risk of missing the lane and hitting the curb or another vehicle. the problem just arose in the last 2-3 months. prior to that the headlights seemed fine, and i do a lot of night driving. some with city streetlights, and some on roads with minimal lighting. lights may have dimmed gradually, but i first noticed it in late august, early september 2018. at that point it was a very noticeable change. 2 passengers have pointed out that they didn't think i even had the headlights turned on. on high beam, the lights work wonderfully. unfortunately, that is not safe to use when facing oncoming vehicles or with vehicles in front of you. this is not an oxidation issue of the lens cover. the lens is crystal clear still, and the car is just now about 4 years old. has 55000 miles on it. it seems there are quite a few complaints about the low beam headlights for nissan altimas. i'm afraid someone will get killed in an accident before anything is done to correct the issue. please investigate the problem and help prevent such a tragedy.

I was told that my lights seemed very dimmed. being that i live in the city full lights so it's hard to tell but i've noticed the last couple of times i've gone out of town and had to take darker roads, the lighting on the vehicle is terrible. you can barely see 5ft in front of you and that's very dangerous while driving....someone needs to look into this and correct the problem.

The first time i noticed this problem was on a girls trip to rockport, tx on sept 1, 2018. one of the ladies asked if my headlights were on. i said yes. she asked me to pull over so she can confirm. she confirmed the lights were on. on september 23, 2018 i was coming back home on a dark highway with my sister when we found could not see three feet in front of the vehicle. it appeared as though i had no headlights on. i pulled over to check and the headlights were on. i got back in the car and drove to the first open auto parts place i could find on a sunday night around 8pm. the man suggested bulb replacement. i replaced the bulbs. however, on october 20, 2018 i was again driving and on a dark road with a lot of people walking on the side and i nearly hit a person because i didn't see them because of the poor lighting come from the headlight. i went back to the auto parts store and the man suggest a more expensive bulbs and as of today october 25, 2018 i still have the same problem. i am in fear of my life and the people in my vehicle. i am about to drive to arkansas in two weeks. this is a safety hazard to drive this way. all cars driving next to me have much more significant lighting for the road. nissan needs to recall and replace these defective, dangerous, headlights that are failing so no one become a casualty.

Car has poor visualbility during night time driving with lights on low beam has changed lights to led and bought higher quality bulbs which hasnt helped the problem car was brought brand new 2015 and has noticed problem of low light reflection since early 2018

Low beam lights are so dim that it is dangerous at night *dsy

My low beam headlights are very dim making it very hard to drive at night and in dark situations. it is the only vehicle i have and i am a nurse that has to take call and drive at night. my son and i drove at night for a ballgame and i could barely see. i went to auto zone and o'reilly's and both places told me replacing bulbs wouldn't help. this is very dangerous.

Low beam headlights are very dim. low beam bulbs were replaced, and lights are still very dim. unable to see the road - especially with oncoming traffic, in the rain, and in areas with some street lighting. must use high beams at all times to be able to see the road at night and in the rain. this is an ongoing problem.

Headlights are so dim they're barely lite. took vehicle to the richmond nissan dealership. result: the projectors are bad and the entire headlight assembly has to be replace on both lights!! quoted cost (parts and labor): $1100 -$1200. i declined the service offered. there are many, many, many links and documentation that this has been a problem for nissan for years with earlier 2000 year cars!!!! mine is a 2015. why hasn't there been a recall order on these parts? i drive on country roads and the interstaes which are not lite. please help!!

Headlights are extremely dim. i got pulled over twice because my headlights were to din or appear to be off. i have replaced the bulbs but it remained the same. this needs to be recalled immediately because it a safety issue when driving in the rain and at night. i drive a lot at night and i have to use my high beam and that makes it dangerous for other drivers because it distracts them. why won't nissan recall this issue?

The lights are becoming dimmer and dimmer, changing the bulbs does not help. the issue seems to be in the reflector. the whole lighting unit needs to be replaced and nissan won't replace it even though it is a defect in the lights. i do not feel safe driving at night. i have to use my high beams to even see.

Headlights do not project on low beam. it looks like you only have parking lights on it is so dim. it isn't safe to drive after dark.
