We have classified the 387 complaints from 2013 Nissan Altima about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 2

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2013 Nissan Altima

When engaging the vehicle into gear the engine dies. service tech at local nissan dealer confirms transmission malfunction. vehicle has 65,000 miles. nissan has had issues with similar transmissions in the past and extended the warranty to 120,000 to assist other consumers. due to my transmission being a "generation 2" it is not covered by the extended warranty. although, obviously, "generation 2" has malfunctions as did "generation 1".

The cvt transmission. while driving in a snow storm the car stalled in a turn almost causing a serious fatality on my part

Was driving my 2013 altima sl and without any warning the transmission started slipping, stopped vehicle, and everytime i attempted to put car in drive or reverse, the motor died, and i restarted the motor due to the bitter cold weather conditions, called nissan north america talked to colleen agent # 731913 with my concerns on 12/29/2017, after hanging up with colleen and continuing to try to get the vehicle to, called nissan north america again and spoke to erik case # 29343050, who adviced me to call nissan the next day 01/01/2018. i called and it was a holiday and not opened. , finally got the vehicle in drive and attempted to drive it home with transmission slipping and motor dying in heavy bumper to bumper holiday traffic. on 01/02/2018 contacted nissan north america, was advised to take vehicle to nearest nissan dealership, and they would pay $100.00 towards the record bill. i paid this wrecker bill out of my pocket with receipts. the vehicle was delivered to walter's nissan 30 walter's lane pikeville, ky. 41501 on 01/03/2018 were it was evaulated and determined to be complete cvt transmission failure, and would be replaced. i have the nissan security plus gold preferred vehicle service contract 60 months/75,000 miles, service contract # 0 7236319. this car has 68,000 miles on it, and the contract expired on 01/04/2018. it was in the dealership on 01/03/2018 and determine with the cvt transmission failure. i called walter's nissan on 01/05/218 and was told they had ordered a new cvt transmission under warranty. today i was advised by walter's nissan dealership they was in a dispute with nissan america regional specialist, due to the warranty expiring on 01/04/2018, today 01/08/2018 and would not honor the warranty or a request for a rental car. the cvt transmission has had many failures similiar to mine, yet nissan america still markets this vehicle

Car will not release from park unless you press on the brake release button. this happened as my car reached 65k miles. this could be a huge issue and safety if someone was to be stranded out somewhere and they are h able to leave because there car will not come out of park. this problem is affecting a lot of vehicles coming out of nissan.

When the car is in park, 99% of the time i can't put the gear shift in drive. if i want to move, i have to use the key down in the gear lock box to unlock the gear.

I am reporting a dangerous condition with the 2013 nissan altima transmission. the transmission failed on my car at 75,000 miles while driving 65 - 70 mph on the florida turnpike. the car is out of warranty based on miles (not time) and i was denied coverage by nissan due to warranty expiration and because vehicle was purchased used. the transmission has stuttered since purchase but it seemed to be a quirk of the car; however, on dec. 5, 2017, it briefly would not move in reverse as my daughter (the primary driver) began a 4-hour drive from orlando to miami. it engaged and she continued on her trip. while driving on the florida turnpike, the transmission disengaged while driving at highway speed. she was able to coast through traffic to the side of the road. she turned off the car and it started and moved again. it was nighttime and not safe for her to remain on the side of the road. the transmission continued to stop several times during her drive and she again pulled over, stopped, then restarted the car. she made it safely to miami. the next morning, dec. 6, the car would not move in drive or reverse. on dec 10 the car was towed by aaa to a nearby auto mechanic. on dec. 11 the transmission failure was diagnosed and i was advised to take the car to a nissan dealer because of the numerous reported problems with the cvt transmissions, including an extended warranty on models up to year 2010. on dec. 11 it was towed to nissan and we established a case with nissan customer care. today, dec. 19 we were informed that nissan will not cover any of the cost of repair. the repair estimate is at least $3,700. they will replace with the same transmission, so we are concerned about safety in the future. we still owe ~$8,000 on the vehicle and feel we have no choice but to move forward with the repair.

My warranty was good until 60,000 mi and at 74,000 miles, my transmission died. it wouldn't go into reverse or drive. according to your reports, nhtsa id #10109246 the 2013 nissan altima had cvt delayed engagement when shifting into drive or reverse. (there were also 19 other complaints on the powertrain.) i feel that i should be compensated by nissan for this. i contacted nissan consumer affairs and they did nothing for me. i spoke to a girl named summer who in a mechanical tone said to me "your warranty ran out. there's nothing we can do" nothing i said made any difference to her. she even contacted the nissan dealer however she still did not budge after he told her about my case. this is a poor representation of nissan. they don't stand by their product. i was very upset. i'm a single mother and i have to borrow $4000 against my retirement account just to pay for this repair. i feel that nissan should take responsibility for their product and pay for their faulty transmission.

My 2013 nissan altima is stalling when being shifted into reverse or drive. the first instance that this happened, i was driving and slowing down at an intersection. the rpm's dropped, the car shook a little and it died. i had to put it into park and restart. i was able to make it about 2 miles away when it did it again, this time on a residential street thankfully. i tried about 5 times and was not able to move the vehicle, every time i shifted it into drive, it stalled. i had it towed to a local shop and they were not able to reproduce the issue. they did however tell me that this is a very common issue and gave me a print out from a mechanics forum showing many other vehicles like mine experiencing the same issue. i tried to drive it from the original shop to the nissan dealer, it stalled in the middle of an intersection as i was trying to turn left. i had to restart, put it in neutral, give it gas and throw it into drive to make it through the intersection. right after that, as i was driving through the neighborhood, i came to a stop and it stalled again, it continued to do this multiple times when putting it into drive. i had to have it towed again, this time to the dealer. the nissan dealer is now telling me that they are unable to reproduce the problem and want me to pay for a software update. they 'think' it's the transmission but it is not giving any error codes, so they don't know for sure.

While accelerating on a highway around 40mph up to 60mph, the vehicle would remain above 4000 rpm for many seconds after the accelerator was released. it remained at this high rpm while the car slowed down without any help from the brakes. drive selector was on the normal drive ("d") and not on sport ("ds"). vehicle has been driven 45,000 miles and the issue has been occurring since 20,000 miles. ..updated 12/11/17 *bf

Complaint: transmission failure at 39,848 miles. on nov 10, 2017, transmission failed on 2013 nissan altima bought new while stopped at intersection in downtown baltimore traffic. when approaching intersection, car bucked, then stalled and gas pedal failed to work. turned car off and back on. car limped another 3 or 4 blocks, then stopped completely and had to be towed to nearby sheehy nissan glen burnie dealership where it was determined transmission would need to be replaced ' based on diagnostic codes p2813, p0776, and p0965. no warning lights came on before or during break down. the day before the break down, nov 9th, nissan of richmond had performed the 48 months scheduled maintenance ' during which they also did a pc490 recall, referring to it as an ' altima cvt software diagnostic update ' and describing it as a software update for the transmission ' allowing their computer to interact better with the transmission computer. but the ' cvt diagnostic update ' did not prevent/predict a break down the very next day. conditions: night time, below freezing (mid 20's), had just taken off-ramp to downtown after 3 hours of interstate driving averaging 65-70 mph on interstate and 25-30 mph downtown. history: altima bought new, all vehicle maintenance was performed at recommended times/intervals with nissan service dept. vehicle has been used almost exclusively for local driving. nissan altima experienced shuddering when taken on 'extended' trip two months ago (2 hour drive on interstate) ' then experienced transmission failure on next 'extended' trip (3 hours on interstate) ' described above. no findings as to cause were available through nissan glen burnie: service manager denied request to speak with technician who worked on vehicle; also denied request for copies of any notes/findings that service dept would be forwarding to nissan corporate.

Complaint: altima cvt software diagnostic update did not prevent/predict next day transmission failure. nissan of richmond performed a pc490 recall on my 2013 nissan altima, nov 9, 2017 -- referring to it as an ' altima cvt software diagnostic update ' and describing it as a software update for the transmission ' allowing their computer to interact better with the transmission computer. but the ' cvt diagnostic update ' did not prevent/predict a break down the very next day ' which was diagnosed as a transmission failure by the sheehy nissan glen burnie dealership where it was towed. when approaching an intersection on nov 10th, the altima bucked, then stalled and the gas pedal failed to work. no dashboard warning lights came on before or during the breakdown. sheehy nissan glen burnie determined the transmission would need to be replaced ' based on diagnostic codes p2813, p0776, and p0965. the 2013 altima was bought new with only 39,848 miles at time of break down.

Complaint: misleading service interval letter promises cvt fluid inspection - but this isn't done and can't be done on altima's sealed transmission. in october 2017, nissan mailed a glossy letter reminding me that my ' 2013 altima is due for its 48 months scheduled maintenance '. ' inspect the automatic transmission/cvt fluid ' is one of 23 items listed in the letter for the 48 month service interval. the altima was taken to nissan of richmond for its 48 months maintenance on nov 9, 2017. the next day, the gas pedal stopped working, and the sheehy nissan glen burnie dealership where it was towed determined that the transmission would need to be replaced based on diagnostic codes p2813, p0776, and p0965. the vehicle was bought new with only 39,848 miles at time of break down. in a follow up phone call to nissan of richmond on nov 20th ' i was educated on what ' inspect the automatic transmission/cvt fluid ' means: per the service advisor ' cvt fluid isn't added or checked at 48 months. because the transmission in the 2013 altima is sealed, 'inspect' simply means looking under the car to make sure cvt fluid is not leaking. no service is done on the cvt fluid otherwise ' until 60,000 miles. which coincidentally ' is when nissan's powertrain warranty ends for 2013 altimas. particularly frustrating is that per the service advisor ' any cvt fluid leak would be reported on the multipoint inspection report card -- but their computer failed to attach it to the repair order in nissan of richmond's system -- so no record of a report card exists in their system. circling back to the diagnostic codes ' online research shows causes for the p2813 code may include contaminated transmission fluid; causes for the p0776 code may include low transmission fluid level and/or dirty transmission fluid. causes for the p0965 code may include low or subpar transmission fluid.

My car doesn't pick up speed correctly i have had the car for 3 years the place closed down i couldn't take it back i'm stuck with it and also my compressor doesn't work as well it stopped working a couple months after i got the car i really want something else

Car started to spudder like it wasnt getting gas after driving for 15 mins on the highway i was at a light waiting to turn my car stalled out i needed to put it back in park to restart it. once the car was restarted i drove home once home i wanted to check my car to see what was wrong so from park i put my car in reverse and it again stalled out this happened multiple times. the next day while leaving i went to accelerate the car would move very slow trying to get up to speed you would need to press hard on gas to move then rpms acting all weird. when turning at a city light and you accelerated the cars tires would squeal and the car would jerk. this car stalls alot im worried about this happening in moving traffic. this car only has 70,000 miles on it and im being told this is the cause of a faulty transmissions. this car is still in a nissian shop.

Transmission has failed abruptly in nissan altima 2013 at 79k miles almost ending in a collision in mid intersection. nissan says it's past warranty and will not replace. i'm on the hook for $3800 for a faulty transmission that could've caused a deadly accident. my kids were in the car at the time. even though other years have had warranties extended bc of the faulty cvt transmission, mine is not included. they said i could not appeal the decision. after talking to their consumer affairs division, i was told that bc i didn't have my car serviced at nissan, i am basically not a loyal customer. this is my 4th nissan. obviously, i've been loyal. i chose to have regular oil changes, tire rotations, etc done somewhere closer as the dealership was difficult to get to all these years. i find their nonchalance in dealing w/their horrible transmission to be infuriating and i would like some answers. thank you. updated 12/8/2017*js

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving approximately 2 mph, the accelerator pedal traveled to the floorboard without warning. the gear was shifted to "ds", and the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

I was driving my vehicle when it sputtered and stopped in the middle of a busy city street,. luckily a policeman was right behind me and was able to divert traffic away from my car. i towed the car to a nearby mechanic shop who replaced the battery (because it was dead) and advised me that the problem could be with the transmission. i drove the car but the rpms were going up and down and pressing the gas pedal did not cause the car to move any faster, and the transmission does not engage in a timely manner when i put the car on "drive". i scheduled a time with the dealer to inspect the car in two days. that day it took me a long time to get the car started and moving and it broke down as i entered the dealer's service lot. they diagnosed the problem as a failed cvt transmission which had to be replaced for $3700, since it cannot be repaired. i told them that i searched the nissan website the night before and there was a recall by nissan of this car in december 2016 because the cvt controller had to be re-programmed, otherwise it will cause excessive wear and damage to the cvt. they claimed the recall was only for the reprogramming and because the vehicle was over the warranty, nothing will be done for free. i told them that this was a safety issue since i almost got hit by traffic when the car stalled, that their recall mentioned the possible damage, and that i became aware of it after the incident, but that did not help and advised me to call nissan, but he wouldt. i believe this defect with the cvt program is a serious safety issue from my personal experience. the car gave no warning signs or alarms of the problem and it happened suddenly. the cvt failure being indirectly cause by the defective programing should have been covered by a federally mandated recall. this issue is all over the internet. also nissan never made owners aware of this recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. whether the vehicle was shifted into park or drive, it would experience a loss of power. the contact stated that the vehicle operated normally while in neutral. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission was defective and needed to be replaced. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

My 2013 nissan altima, which was purchased new has had issues with the cvt transmission since it was purchased. in 9/2014 at 42k miles the transmission failed and was replaced. now in 9/2017 i am being told by nissan that the transmission that was replaced by them in 2014 is also bad and needs to be replaced at a cost to me of $4,100.00. who can afford a $4,100 repair on a vehicle that is still being paid for monthly, and why is it the consumer's fault that nissan na is making and selling faulty, unsafe products? nissan na knows of the ongoing issues with these cvt transmissions, but choses to nothing to rectify the issues. my vehicle will not pull and makes a whining noise while i am driving. this it the same issue that occurred in 2014. while i was in motion on a major interstate the vehicle began to lose power, spudder and jerk, and dropped down to about 10-15 mph. it was a horrifying experience to be in the middle of the interstate traveling at 60 mph, and all of a sudden start to lose speed. i was finally able to get the vehicle to the shoulder safely. these vehicles are unsafe to be driven. i am in total disbelief that none of the agencies charged with the protection of consumers safety and ethical treatment , will or has gotten involved to force nissan to stop endangering the well being of those of us who drive these vehicles. i am a loyal nissan owner, who has owned 2 other nissan vehicles. in fact, i currently own a 1995 nissan maxima that has never had a transmission issue. how can a 22 year old car still drive perfectly and a 2013 need 2 transmission replacements. someone needs to hold nissan accountable for their actions and treatment of consumers, as well as their blatant disregard for the safety of those of us who drive and transport passengers in their vehicles everyday.

I was stopped at a red light and the car just turned itself off. i turn it back on and as soon as i put it in drive it turns itself off again. i finally get it going and get to my destination without anymore problems. the next day i go to start it and as soon as i put it in drive the car turns itself off, i continue to try to get it going but never did. i get it towed to the nissan dealership and they said the entire transmission needs to be replaced. i get the transmission replaced. now 3 months after i get a brand new transmission it's doing the same thing again. i start the car go to put it in drive and it turns off.

This vehicle was recalled for the cvt about a year ago. it was jerking forward and we thought this repair would solve the problem. on september 7, 2017 , while driving in traffic , it would not go forward. kept giving it gas until it moved and we were able to turn off the street. had it checked today and told it has a problem with the transmission.

I have had this car for 4 years. since i have had it it has had some sort of stuttering, hesitation from what seems like the transmission. speed, cruise, uphill downhill makes no difference. i have had it looked at 4-5 times with nissan's nothings ever finding a thing wrong. now, after continued worsening it finally went out. will run in ever gear at 10-15 mph. i guess i proved my point, but lost the car. now i still have to take it back to these know nothing shade tree mechanics!

06/2015 my transmission was replaced under warranty due to malfunction. 07/2017 took my car in to the same dealer for recall pc491 cvt, 08/29/17, my transmission starts with failure problems which i was not informed of at dealer on 7/2017, 2 years after transmission was replaced. my car is a danger while driving with my children, stalls while driving, streets, freeways, will not take off. need to replace again per nissan dealer.

We purchased a used nissan 2013 altima approximately 2 months ago. we were driving westbound on interstate 71 between florence, kentucky and louisville, kentucky. the car had about 86,000 miles on it at the time of the incident. while driving the car seemed to vibrate and feel like it was missing or stalling. frequently the tachometer would rev high without any change in acceleration. we stopped at a rest area just east of louisville. when we left the rest area to merge back on to i-71 we lost all acceleration and had to pull on to shoulder before being struck by an oncoming semi. the car jerked back into movement and we made it into louisville and onto i-64. the farther we went the less responsive the car got and we slowed to a maximum speed of about 30 miles an hour and had to pull onto the very narrow shoulder to get out of the heavy traffic. after letting the car sit for about 10 minutes we were able to get it moving again and after 2 more stops made it to corydon, indiana. at that point we rode in the other vehicle we were traveling with the rest of the way home then returned to corydon with a trailer to haul the nissan home. we hauled the nissan to a local transmission shop where the owner determined the cvt transmission pan was full of metal shavings and the transmission was deemed shot! subsequent to this happening we found out that nissan had extended their power-train warranty from 60,000 to 120,000 miles on earlier models (through 2010), but not the 2013. we have encountered significant time lost, very significant expense, and were in danger of being rear-ended on the interstate when the car lost all acceleration.

I have owned a 2013 nissan altima for just over 3 years. the car had approximately 99,000 miles on it when the transmission died on me. i was making the short trip to home depot one day (approx. 3 weeks ago) when my nissan altima stalled in the middle of the street! i was at a traffic light when my car shuddered and then stalled in the middle of the busy intersection; thankfully it turned back over and i was able to continue my trip. after i finished my shopping at home depot i came to my car and tried to leave, the car started but would shutter and die as soon as i put it into drive or reverse. eventually, i got the car towed to the closest dealership which was 40 mins away. at the dealership they told me that my transmission was shot and that it couldn't be fixed and had to be replaced...$4,500!!! despite there being a recall on the cvt which controls the 2nd pulley in the transmission, they told me that the cvt recall had nothing to do with my transmission dying. eventhough, the recall itself states that failing to get the recall performed could cause damage; $4,500 contlstitutes serious enough damage to me! i contacted the nissan america corporate office and they basically echoed what the dealership said and we're of no help.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while the vehicle was stationary or while driving various low speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on numerous occasions. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled and would not accelerate forward in any gear when prompted. bondy's nissan in dothan, alabama was made aware of the failure and replaced the valve body on the vehicle, but the failure recurred. the dealer stated that the warranty expired on the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that there was no recall or tsb for the failure. the contact was provided item number: 10109248 and ntb15-0878 as possible causes related to transmission failure of the vehicle. the failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the transmission and the gear shifter failed to shift out of position. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the road shoulder. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the linkage that traveled to the the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to coast the vehicle to the right lane. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was a major transmission failure. the vehicle was taken to fenton nissan west (8800 n w expressway, oklahoma city, ok, 73162) where it was diagnosed that there was a recall on the transmission computer software. the software was updated and the transmission fluid was changed. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to fenton nissan west where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under a recall and there was nothing done to extend the warranty. the manufacturer also stated that there was a lawsuit that was still in litigation and they would call the contact when it settled. the failure mileage was 69,500.

Cvt transmission issues. received a recall notice on the cvt transmission to reprogram the cvt. issue started before the reprogram and before 100k miles, stalled out in traffic, smelled burning rubber, sputtering while driving no engine light appeared on the dash. all these issues occurred before the recall notice. once i received the notice from nissan, took into service department to complete. worked fine with little issues, still sputtering and stalled out once for about 2 months, issue started again. check engine light came on this time. took into service department for diagnostics as requested from nissan, my own expense, was notified by service department the code is p17f1 " death code" for transmission. called nissan consumer affairs to apply for out of warranty assistance from nissan was told did not qualify, due to mileage. mileage is now over 100k. the cvt transmission problems consist of the transmission oil getting to hot while driving on trips, causing the seals to burn. nissan is aware of the issues customers are experiencing with the cvt transmissions and should be responsible for repairing.

The problem experienced with my 2013 nissan altima occurs when the vehicle is in motion on streets or highways. while driving when the ambient temperature is hot (i.e. >95 degrees), the car periodically appears to enter into "limp mode" where power is cut from the engine and the vehicle loses the ability to accelerate. it is my opinion that the defect is caused by high temperature within the transmission (cvt) fluid and a sensor triggers a "limp mode" to protect the transmission from damage. this causes an extremely unsafe condition since i (the driver) may lose the ability to accelerate in traffic (i.e. while making a left hand turn) resulting in serious injury or death. my own internet research has shown that this is a common problem with nissan (cvt) transmissions and the mechanical fix is to install a transmission cooler. the nissan dealership has driven the vehicle and stated that they cannot reproduce the problem, therefore they have not offered a solution to this unsafe condition.

We have not received any recalls since purchase of car.on 06/30/17,my daughter called and informed me the car was having problems. what she described sounded as if there was water in the gas.itold her to drive to the dealer in conway ar.it was brought to our attention there was a recall on the cvt.they reprogramed it and test drove the car. they said it was ok ,but were a little iffy about whether we might have more problems.in the meantime i found out there were several recalls on the car, including the passenger side air bag and the hood latch.these were serious safety problems ,in and we had received no recalls.we would appreciate any assistance you may help with.she said it sounded as if it would blow up,at the time.she brought the car home(3.5 hr. drive)and after a brief stop,it would not budge.i loaded the car on a trailor and took it to the dealer in jonesboro ar.itold the service man about it and that i had contacted nhtsa and was assigned a case #27278124,but he didn't seem too interested in it. i later found the recall on the passenger side air bag.the conway people said they preformed the hood latch recall.p.s,ialso was told the cvt recall was internal.

Vehicle stops without any notification, sometimes stalls before shutting off.

This is the second time my 2013 nissan altima stopped. first time at sign light in traffic early march 2017 i had to push it out of danger and had it towed home. and today june 10 2017 it just stopped i had to push it into a safe area and again i had it towed home. i purchased the last may 2016.

Tl* the contact called on behalf of her husband who owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving at an undisclosed speed and coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact stated that there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the engine compartment. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to provide a prognosis for the failure. the vehicle was then taken to crown nissan located at 5151 34th st n, st. petersburg, fl 33714, to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,010.

2013 nissan altima. consumer writes in regards to vehicle accident and transmission recall issues. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle was involved in an accident before receiving a recall notice for the transmission (35-00f4-72d). the consumer inquired if the recall failure was related to the cause of the accident. updated 08/28/2017*js

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving approximately 40 mph, the transmission stopped working without warning. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the dealer also stated that the failure had nothing to do with the previous recall repair that was completed on the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was no longer under a warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the recall details were not provided. the failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

At a stoplight at a busy intersection, the car stalled. when put in gear it dies. after having it towed to the dealership, i was told that the cvt transmission was bad. the vehicle has 60,080 miles and the warranty is good to 60,000 miles.

The car was running fine until 4/26/17. it started to almost stall at red lights while driving to work, then it completely stopped moving in traffic, the engine stayed on but the car would not shift. no light on dash or warning. luckily i was able to coast to the side of the road. need a new transmission

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while at a stop light, the vehicle stalled and shut down. the vehicle was turned off and restarted. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the failure recurred. the dealer diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and promised to confer with the regional manager and call the contact back. the failure was not remedied. the failure mileage was 67,900.

Nissan cvt transmissions i always had the shaking and juddering problem after the nissan cvt software recall the shaking and juddering got worse and know the dealer is telling me the valve in the cvt needs replacing after a month of the recall and after month my powertrain waranty expired the vehicle shakes while reversing or in dfive or in park or just idle

I was driving on a city street and came to a red light, when the light turned green it was as if my car shut down. i was unable to accelerate, break, turn the car off and place in park. the car coasted as if it was in neutral and i steered it to the curb. i slammed on breaks as hard as i could and the car jerked so hard. i was able to get it in park but the car wouldnt turn off for about 30 seconds. i was finally able to get it turned off and started again and drove it home (less than a mile) and parked it. i am terrified to drive this car

2013 nissan altima 2.5s was serviced on december 19, 2016 at planet nissan 5850 centennial center blvd. las vegas, nv 89149 dealer performed r1609 ocs recall & pc490 cvt reprogram recall. during these process some electrical items damage. now cvt (continues variable transmission) is failing. on april 6, 2017 took vehicle to autonation nissan las vegas 5800 w. sahara ave the service consultant said cvt is bad and needs to be replace but nissan do not want to pay. vehicle drives but when you reach 25-35 miles per hour it jerks, also 65 miles per hour it jerks then it looses power, vehicle comes to a stop and it does not move. this vehicle is not safe to be on the road. nissan needs to correct this issue before somebody gets injured.

I bought my car used in october of 2016 with i believe around 20,000 miles on it. the car ran like a top for a while, but eventually the car started lunging intermittently, making loud scraping noise when accelerating and losing power to the wheels and red-lining the rpms. i've taken the car to the dealership 3 times and have heard nissan employees state "these have problems" "they are terrible" "that's just how cvts are" yet they won't fix or replace it. i am now at 60,200 miles and the power train warranty just ran out. the dealership won't fix or replace it and i have a case open with nissan of america. this is a massive safety issue. if i am in an intersection and my car decides to not work, i could be killed. this is honestly terrifying and i seemingly have very little recourse. i am doing everything i can to get this dealt with by nissan. they gave a me quote for $4200 to replace the cvt which is ridiculous for a 5 year old car with 60k miles on it that has been well taken care of.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving 10-55 mph, the vehicle shuttered and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to lee nissan (235 miracle strip pkwy sw, fort walton beach, fl 32548) where it was diagnosed that the ctv needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the failure mileage was 177,000.

On april 29, 2017 while sitting at a stop light, this vehicle stalled at a busy highway intersection and could not be moved, when the cvt transmission went out. after contacting nissan i was told that it is my responsibility to pay the $5000 for a new transmission. i have only owned this car for 1 year and it has less than 80,000 miles on it. i have the documentation that the cvt was reprogrammed at 24,781 miles. this is obviously an ongoing issue with the nissan cvt transmissions, and even the warranty on 2010 has been increased the 120,000, but not the 2013. it is a shame that i had a 2005 nissan with over 200,000 miles and it still ran great, but unfortunately i sold it to buy a newer nissan, expecting the same reliability. i have currently been without this vehicle for over a month. this 2013 altima was previously a leased vehicle and has had all necessary maintenance preformed, but nissan is still not standing behind their vehicle. is it going to take a death caused by the cvt before nissan will agree they are a fault? i have had over $200 in towing expenses alone plus the inconvenience of not having a vehicle for such a long period of time. nissan should be ashamed to put their name on a transmission that has so many issues. it is nearly impossible to get to talk to a nissan representative and i am currently making payments on a useless vehicle.

Vehicle while in motion at low speed began to shudder, and stalled when brake applied. afterwards, vehicle started while in park, but stalled immediately when shifting into drive. dealer determined that cvt transmission had failed.

My nissan altima 2013-only has 51,000 miles. i driving towards the gwb and was sitting on heavy traffic heading to the exit when my car started to vibrate and then shut off. all the light on my dashboard came on. i put the steer back to park. and restarted my car, it vibrated a little more when it shut off for the second time. i tried a final time to turn my car back on, which finally did not shut off and was able to drive to work. i was super scared as i was on a major highway, lucky for me it was heavy traffic and the other vehicles were driving slower than usual. this is not safe as i usually drive with my 6 year old with me. i got to work i looked up what had happened to me and there are tons of complains about the same issue with the transmission. i don't know why nissan has not addressed this issue. i cannot say this car is reliable anymore. i called my dealership and taking the car in tomorrow. i am hoping they can change my transmission as i am still in warranty.

After recent recall work done on cvt (reprogramming) 1 week ago , twice in the last week the car has failed to move from stationary when accelerator pedal was pressed from idle/standing - engine did not rev higher etc, literally nothing happened at all. had to take all pressure of accelerator pedal, wait a few seconds, then press again to actually move - dangerous stopped in the middle of the city street/traffic.
