Rusting of floorboard panel on passenger side of vehicle. this was discovered as part of prepurchase inspection. due to issue buyer was no longer interested due to cost of repair

Drivers side floor pan rust through. it appears to be a common problem in the 2002 to 2006 altima and maxima models. a recall should be performed. this problem is a danger, and very costly to repair.

The floor boards are completely rusted away on the driver and passenger side under neath the vehicle. you can actually put your hand through and push up into the carpet on inside of car. this is obviously a safety issue.

Floorboards on both the driver's and passenger sides are rusting out. initial holes were noticed years ago. holes have become much larger. i can literally touch carpet from underneath the car.

Door handles broke off in my hand preventing entry into the car without great difficulty

Had normally scheduled maintenance performed on 2006 altima to include tire rotation. discovered that the floor boards on front on both sides are completely rusted through, i can see the carpet. will not pass inspection, have contacted a garage for repair costs. my car is carport kept, i wash weekly and is kept spotless. after reading the many, many complaints nissan needs to take action. i have driven nissans for 25 years, even my 14 yr. old sentra wasn't rusted when i sold it.

Due to poor design or quality of material used in the manufacturing of the floor boards on either side of the vehicle is completely rusted through . you can see the underside of my carpet from underneath the vehicle . i am in fear of potential "crumple zone" / weakening of the car when in front end collision due to the rusted out area and the security of my driver and passenger seat during any type of accident because the seat mounting holes are near rusted/weakened area . i am in fear to even drive my car or sell it to someone else to drive .. in addition .. the cost to fix the problem areas far exceed the book value of the car .. there should be something done about this. this vehicle is not a rare vehicle there are millions of these vehicles on the road and millions of lives that could potentially be saved in accidents i have detailed photos of this issue of needed

The part of the floor boards directly beneath where both the driver and the front seat passenger would normally place their feet has rusted through to the extent that only carpeting and insulation material prevents the feet from going through the floor to the ground. the local " carousel nissan " dealership has taken photos and documented the damage but will assume no responsibility. the damage was noticed when a piece of the carpet or insulation was seen hanging under the car.

My elderly parent just took their 2006 nissan altima, garage kept with less than 40k miles to the local dealership for inspection. i was shocked when the technical explained that the drivers and passenger side floor boards are completely rusted out, soon pavement underneath their feet. they took pictures to prove the damage and submit to nissan for repair. apparently nissan acknowledges the problem, but doesn't want to pay to fix (about $1000) or do a [xxx] thing about the problem until someone gets hurt or killed! this is a outrage!!!!!!! nissan knowingly built the piece of [xxx] car, with crappy, rusty metal and sold the cars to the american people, but now what's to blame the consumer for the problem, we didn't build the car....nissan did!!!!! this is not only road a hazard, but a huge safety issue. they drive a very busy highway about twice a week, doing 60-70 mph, so rusty floor boards could defiantly impair their ability to brake suddenly, causing bodily harm to the driver and passenger..whose fault would that be? why hasn't there been a recall issued by nissan or the government? why is nissan allowed to get away with this..the consumer should not be held responsible for nissan producing [xxx] vehicles and selling them to american public.!!! why isn't nissan being held responsible, just like gm!!!!!???? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Upon inspection of my car. and seeing news reports about 2002 to 2006 nissan altimas. my floors on both sides are fully rotted out. the rest of the car is solid. this is a huge safety issue as ur feet can go thru the floor. i have pictures . nissan should have a recall or a fix for this...

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan altima. while at an independent mechanic for inspection, the contact noticed that the floorboards on both the front driver and front passenger side were corroded. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.

2006 nissan altima with rotted and rusted out front floorboards. $1000.00 to rebuild and another $100.00 for the dealer to reset the airbags. why is this not being recalled? it is a safety issue!! those driving an altima model years 2002-2008 take a look at the underside of your vehicle asap....updated 12/02/15 *bf

Both the front drivers and passenger side floor pans are completely rusted out. the carpet is the only thing keeping your feet from going through the floor and touching the highway. from reading the other complaints on this site, it would appear that this is a common problem and seems to be due to a flaw in the manufacturing / engineering. this is a safety issue. why is it not being addressed and remedied by nissan ?

The floor boards under the front driver and passenger seats are prematurely rotting. each side has a huge hole approximately 5 inches across and 8-12 inches long and the holes continues to enlarge. this particular complaint has been made by hundreds of times by others. it is a safety issue and nissan should do something to repair the vehicles! date listed below is when i first discovered it after a mechanic brought it to my attention while the car was up on a lift.

Both my driver and passenger floorboards are completely rusted out. i have a 12" long hole on one of the sides. nissan doesn't cover it because it's not a safety issue. it is not safe by any means. i can put my entire foot through the hole! my seat can become less stable, fumes can come in, who knows. the cost to fix it is more than the car is worth. no recall period, and they are aware of the problem. my sister has the same make/model/year and she was shocked to find out she has the exact same problem. same spots, same rust. also, both cars were garaged.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan altima. the contact stated that there was extensive rust and corrosion on the floorboards. in addition, there were holes on the flooring on the drivers side and the front passenger side of the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 44,000. updated 11/20/15*lj *cn

Within the last three weeks i observed a rusted piece of metal extending from the underside of my vehicle under the driver side. i took it to a meineke location and had them look at the underside. it is extensively rusted and needs to have sheet metal welded from the inside to prevent my foot/feet from hitting the road. i purchased the vehicle used in 2010 with 66000 miles. i am very happy with it and take good care of it. i would like to keep it for as long as possible. i have researched the issue and see that it is systemic issue with this model and believe nissan should e held responsible.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan altima. the contact stated that the driver side undercarriage panel was corroded and only the floor mat protected him from the ground. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000. updated 8/27/15*cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan altima. while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an unrelated repair, rust was discovered on the front driver and passenger side floor panels. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was confirmed that the front driver and passenger side floor panels were rusted through and needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 190,000. ma 08/14/15 updated 09/02/15*lj updated 12/7/2015*js

My entire drivers side and passneger side floor board has rotted out completely. im talking i can put my foot through it. i head all of it fall out driving down the i-90. this car is rust free from florida. this is such bs and is unsafe to drive.

I took my car in for a safety inspection and learned that the driver's side floor board was rusted entirely through. the only thing between me and the road was the floor mat. the car did not pass inspection and when i took it to my regular mechanic he was shocked at what it looked like. i took it to a body shop and likewise he couldn't believe from the look of the car (which has been well maintained) that it would be rusted out like it is. that led me to do some research and learned that this is not an uncommon complaint and that class action law suits are popping up all over the country. i want to lodge my complaint and add it to the others who have notified you of this serious safety risk posed by this defect.

Both floor boards are rusted on the undercarriage. front of the vehicle we were changing the tires and noticed the serious rusting out of both floor boards.

Passenger side floorboard has rusted through and my under-padding is exposed. the car is unsafe to drive.

I have a 2006 nissan altima and my passager floorboards are rusted all the way through. its seems that alot of people have that same issue.

The floor boards on both the driver and passenger have rooted out almost completely on my 2006 nissan altima. i have noticed this a about a year ago and it has got increasingly worse since. i can push the carpet up from under the vehicle and feel very unsafe. i am careful not to put weight on the floors while entering the vehicle for fear i am going to put my foot through the floor. this is a very common issue due to a flawed design in the drain system. the floorboards hold water which may accumulate through the door while raining and salt and water from the under side. please issue a recall and make nissan fix these vehicles that could stay on the road for many more years. my car has 109k miles on it and is in very good shape and runs very well. i don't want to have to do this job myself or pay 1,000 to get it fixed.

Observed front passenger floorboard rusted/rotted completely through with hole to interior cabin allowing carbon monoxide / fume ingress. observed front driver floorboard corrosion and structural failure in process. *tr

The floor board (pan) under driver left foot is rusted. there is a hole about 4 by 8 inches big.

I looked under my car today at a parking lot and found out that both passenger and driver side front floor board is rusting very heavily. i searched online and found many complaining about the same issue and same place in the car. my car has no rust anywhere else but only under the driver seat and front passenger seat. i am afraid that very soon it will develop into a hole in my car and i will be able to see the road under my feet from inside. this is very terrifying and i believe this is high risk safety issue. since the same thing happen to many altima owners, it is a design and manufacturing defect.

Driver floor board rusted out and felt apart, i can start to see the road while driving, please issues this matter asap. *tr

Huge rust under the driver's seat on the underside of the car. also starting under the passenger front seat. floorpan is rusting out so badly i fear my foot will fall through. this is not safe. car has not other rust and well cared for. there is a problem here. i drove my last car for 21 years with not rust problems anywhere and i still live in the same area. this cannot be because of age or snow and salt. this appears to be a defect in the metal or design. *tr

There is rust and holes that have developed under the drivers side of the car. i understand that this is happening to alot of nissans all over the us. i also heard that because there aren't any injuries or fatalities that they haven't put a recall on this defect of the car. is that what it will take? *tr

I found out today at a routine oil change that i have significant rust damage to the floor board under my car. at this time it is my understanding that nissan is doing nothing in regards to the many complaints of the same issue. it appears that the first layer has eroded away and the second layer is already rusted and peeling. it is unknown how long it will take to erode through the to the interior of the vehicle. i have two young children and no longer feel safe in this car. *tr

Driver side floorboards badly rusted. *tr

Floor boards rusted out. *tr

Floor boards are rusting out on both sides of the vehicle making it unsafe to drive. the damage is extensive and has likely been rusting for quite a few years. vehicle is maintained and washed regularly. expense to fix the floor boards is more than the value of the vehicle. common problem among these cars and should be recalled by nissan. *tr

Both driver and passenger floor pans have rotted through from the inside out. *tr

After hearing of other altima owners having problems with drivers side front floor boards rusting out premature. i looked at the floor boards on my altima only to find a large hole rusted through the drivers floor board making it unsafe to drive. *tr

I have a 20006 nissan altima and the floor board is corroding underneath the driver seat i call nissan and they said that there not a recall for that problem so they are not responsibility this a dangerous problem they are other with the same problem please help me. *tr

While driving my entire vehicle will periodic jerk. its done it numerous times since its began. now the service engine light is on. the paint on my vehicle is also faded and the clear coats has come off. i have seen plenty of other people on forums complaining about the same things. so it appears to me that nissan is falling down on the job and should be issuing a recall of some sort about these problems. i have two small children and cant afford something catastrophically happening to my vehicle. *tr

Severe rusting & rotting of the driver and passenger front floor boards. vehicle is otherwise in excellent condition and well-maintained. this body section appears to be defective and could be a safety issue if debris were to impact the weakened section at speed. please take this complaint, and all the others like it, and have nissan issue a recall! *tr

Floor boards on both drivers and passenger side are completely rusted through. insulation and carpeting are falling though the floor. very unsafe. contacted nissan both corporate office and local dealership. neither will do anything about the situation. this issue coincidentally made national news this morning. a number of nissan owners and mechanics/body work technicians were interviewed. all said the same thing. the independent auto repair shop person i got an estimate from this morning said it was because the air conditioning evaporator is located in such a way that its draining inside the floor of the car. i don't understand how nissan does not have to take responsibility for this issue. i have a case number with nissan and the local dealership gave very expensive estimate to have it repaired. *tr

My complaints i have with this car. my first is the floor board is staying soaked with water and molding, which is not good for people with allergies to mold as in this case, and the rusted floorboard problem. the second is with the oxygen sensor and catalytic converters. *tr

I took my vehicle in for an oil change and the garage informed me that the floor board on the driver side was rusted out so bad that you could touch the carpet from the bottom. also the passenger side was rusted with a hole but not as big as the driver side. i am not sure why nissan has not issued a recall for this being there are hundreds of complaints for this. this problem is a safety issue considering it will not pass a safety inspection.
