Consuming or burning a lot of oil.had to add about a quart of oil every 300 miles. it takes longer to shift and does not have power going uphill. hard 1-2 shift.

Car cuts off at low speed.problem is included under nhtsa campaign number: 07v527000 for year make and model. dealers tell me that myvin # is not included.if the year make and model are included why not my car? /this is dangerous.

I currently have a check engine light, i scanned and pulled the code with my own personal scanner the code was p0507 (idle air control valve) the code was cleared, now another code is being thrown which is the tps(throttle position sensor) and the iats(intake air temp sensor bank 1) i heard that nissian had a recall on this matter so i researched it with my vin number and nothing showed up. i heard the ecu needs to be reprogrammed and the problem will be fixed. this matter needs to be attended to before something more serious happens to me or my family while driving this vehicle.
wife was coming home from the airport when approaching stop sign the engine shut down without notice. "no brakes or power steering". vehicle was pushed by city workers into parking area. later on after the vehicle sat it started and we were able to get it home. next day i noticed the engine light on! i took the vehicle in to check the codes. codes indicated it could be the battery or a crank, cam sensor. battery showed bad. purchase new battery and assumed everything is okay. i drove the vehicle down to a store and when i pulled into a parking spot it stopped. later on vehicle started and drove next door to a auto dealership. dealership ran a diagnostic test indicating internal failure in cam sensor. code p0340 stored. vehicle repaired.
Motor shuts down without warning, no brakes or power steering and or after engine has been driven it will not start again until is cools. nhtsa id07v527000 filed. individual from nissan acknowledge he was aware but there is no recall at this time? just hope no one is injured or killed with this type of safety issue. would you suggest i contact state rep. to inquire at this time?

Excessive oil consumption on my nissan altima 2.5l 2006. from what i've read this is a common problem with the 2.5l engine which could result in engine fire.

While driving ~25 mph i was slowing down to a red traffic light and my car spontaneously shut off in traffic! i was able to put my car in park and restart the car. a few days later, it took 3 attempts before my engine started. after a diagnostic, the car displayed codes p0335 (crankshaft position sensor) and p0725 (engine speed circuit signal sensor). after doing much research i found hundreds of complaints online with similar issues! i input my vin# to see if my vehicle was under recall and it wasn't. after seeing hundreds of the same complaints, why hasn't their been a recall? if there was, how is it possible that my car wasn't recalled?
While pulling to a stop light, the car engine shut off without warning. i put the car in park, turned off & attempted to restart the car. it wouldn't immediately start. this happens spontaneously in drive-thrus, stoplights and when coming to complete or near complete stops in traffic as well. most recently i was exiting the interstate exit and the car stopped as a slowed to turn left off the exit, almost resulting in a car rear ending my vehicle at 50 miles per hou. the ses (service engine soon) light is displayed and even after having an oil change and tune up the light is still illuminated, confirming it's an ongoing issue outside of standard maintenance. i've been provided a reference number and dropped the car at nissan dealership today to diagnose. im fearful of my safety operating the vehicle at this point.
While driving my 2006 altima on 6/8/15 for a few minutes after starting it when it had been parked for more than 12 hours, the car stalled. it restarted and i continued to drive. the following day, this occurred again exactly the same. then the next day, the car stalled again after the car had been sitting only a few hours and "threw a code" , i.e. the "service engine soon" light came on. today, 6/13/15, it occurred again when driving a few minutes after the car had been sitting for more than 8 hours. this time the car almost wouldn't restart. i looked up this issue and found a recall on the crankshaft position sensor. i took the car to courtesy nissan who told me that my car did not fall under the recall. after the mechanic diagnosed the problem via the code, it was the crankshaft position sensor.
My car engine shut off periodically while being drive at low speeds and higher oil consumption. the first time occurred on june 6, 2015 while driving across woodyard road to pine view lane from the clinton shopping center. the second time was on friday june 12, 2015 while driving home from the branch ave metro parking, with my brother on the way home, while turning off from highway 5 on to surratts road, leaving my brother and i dangerously stuck the right side of the off curve with cars going by blowing their horns. the altima does start back up, but only after a minute or two. no apparent reason why, no warning lights. the car has been consuming more oil than usual and after the first incident, the service engine light came on and does not shut off. a search for recalls revealed in fact that there was a recall issued, 06v-223 on the 2006 altima, but was not notified or the recall addressed.

My car was previously serviced for a campaign posted on your website, but the problem was not fixed. i should be entitled to have this problem re worked and fixed. the problem is that the car stalls out without warning, creating a dangerous situation. it stalls out while driving and while idle.
While driving my entire vehicle will periodic jerk. its done it numerous times since its began. now the service engine light is on. the paint on my vehicle is also faded and the clear coats has come off. i have seen plenty of other people on forums complaining about the same things. so it appears to me that nissan is falling down on the job and should be issuing a recall of some sort about these problems. i have two small children and cant afford something catastrophically happening to my vehicle. *tr

I can drive around town or where ever. i can stop at a place, shut the car down, and get back in it and it acts like it does not want to crank. i have to keep trying over and over again to get my car to start. i took it to the local auto zone had a diagnostic test ran on it and it came back with the crank sensor that needed to be replaced. i had the crank sensor replaced and the computer reset but i keep having the same problems. i drive around and the same thing happens. after the car gets hot the car does not want to crank. now since then my car has put another error on my car for p7020 with is the speed sensor. i have contact nissan about this because i seen the same recall on the same car but they state that my car isnt covered under the recall because my car was not part of the recall. my thing is how is it not when its same exact thing going wrong with it. *tr
My complaints i have with this car. my first is the floor board is staying soaked with water and molding, which is not good for people with allergies to mold as in this case, and the rusted floorboard problem. the second is with the oxygen sensor and catalytic converters. *tr
Transmission jerks
sometimes when i shut the car down, and get back in it, it acts like it does not want to crank. i have to keep trying over and over again to get my car to start. this has happend for a while now, took it to the had replaced at the dealer. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan altima. while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was able to restart after a few minutes. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the crank shaft position sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was 175,000.
The crank shaft sensor went out last evening. i was driving the 2006 nissan altima at 35mph when the power seemed to slow, i pushed the gas and nothing was happening, and immediately it returned to normal power, though this occurrence turned on the check engine light. after arriving at my first destination all was fine and the check engine light was still on. when i went to start the car to leave it would not immediately start. i had to crank it two times to start and the check engine light was on. after extensive research and a trip to autozone, i learned it was the crank sensor and it was a problem for numerous owners. also it was a recall on only certain models. which mine is not one of. if the problem is in many vehicles and not just the one recalled then the recall should be for every one with the problem. the repair will cost me $120 so i don't see why it shouldn't be free at nissan. its not even that hard of a job. but regardless its a flaw that the manufactures should be held responsible for to each vehicle that is having the problem. *tr
Vehicle is exhibiting excessive oil consumption as described in ntb06-028 (described below) and covered under nissan motors recall number 06v223000. 1-quart of oil needs to be added to engine after approximately 300 to 500 miles of travel or every month to maintain level in the safe dipstick 'l to h' level. initial phone contact with nissan motors representative at 1-800-647-7261 resulted in being informed that since vehicle is not in vin recall range, nissan cannot do anything. worry is that if engine oil level is inadvertently neglected, an engine fire could result while driving the vehicle. recall summary: certain passenger vehicles equipped with 2.5l engines may experience excessive engine oil consumption as a result of improper performance of the piston rings. consequence: if the oil is not maintained at least at the minimum level, engine damage can occur and in extreme cases result in an engine fire.
While stopped at a red light my car engine shut off. after a while it started again, but the transmission wouldn't shift to lower gears and jerked hard in reverse, and service engine light came on. when i took it to the shop the cam sensor had to be replaced. after doing research, i found this was an issue and a recall on some models but not mine. why only one model was recalled? *tr
I went out to my car and all the sudden it would crank but not start. this began happening on a regular occasion. as i did research, i read it is most likely the crankshaft positioning sensor. it states if your car was recalled and the ecm was adjusted already, the company does not cover the issue. however, from what im reading, this is an ongoing issue with peoples vehicles. this is obviously an issue with the sensors that nissan's original adjustment did not fix. i also read where the car will begin to stall in traffic possibly causing an accident. *tr
My daughter was driving home from college on pa turnpike all of a sudden the car began shaking and smoke started to come from hood of car, she heard a loud pop and heavy black smoke pored into car. she proceeded to move over to shoulder when she tried to brake there was no brakes. speed bumps in shoulder stopped the vehicle and flames started to shoot out of hood. she immediately left vehicle and within seconds of leaving the whole drivers and passenger sides were engulfed in flames. car was totaled . i contacted nissan 12/01/2014 by email and telephone in reference to this incidence. *js

Based on what my daughter told me, on sunday 8/24 she was traveling on i-96 in maryland. she was on the millard e. tidings bridge when she had to slow for an accident. while slowing, her car just shut down and would not start. she was stuck in the left lane of i-95 on the bridge. the check engine light kept coming on when she tried to restart the car and the car would not start. aaa was called but the police had to shut down i-95 to push her from the left lane to the right hand shoulder past the bridge. she was towed to baltimore and the vehicle was dropped at a repair facility. the next day it was diagnosed with a bad crankshaft position sensor and repaired. i researched and there is a recall by nissan for this very problem for our year and engine altima. when i called nissan, they indicated our vehicle was not involved in the recall. huh? it appears that nissan should widen the recall as this problem obviously still exists and it puts drivers in an extremely dangerous position of having their car and all its functions shut down and not restart. can it get any more dangerous than an interstate on a summer weekend? i'm lucky my daughter handled the entire ordeal calm and collectedly or there could have been serious consequences. can you get nissan to acknowledge a larger pool of defective vehicle and to expand the scope of the recall? obviously they didn't get them all. *tr
Was driving and my engine light came on went into the store came back out my car and it wouldn't start,,, thought maybe something wrong with the cables or something,, finally started,, come next morning it wouldn't start at all, took it to the mechanic said what it was,, electrical part went to my starter,,he fix it. *tr

I was traveling at highway speed when my "check engine" light came on. i was approximately 2-3 miles from my highway exit and less than 4 miles from my apartment. a minute or two later i heard a loud thud from my engine compartment. a vehicle came alongside of my vehicle and waved for me to pull over, indicating that my vehicle was on fire or smoking. i pulled over to the side of the road, which happened to also within yards of my exit. i exited my vehicle and popped my hood as my engine compartment was smoking. my engine was on fire and proceeded to burn as i called 911 and a wrecker service. it appears that a connecting rod was liberated and exited the front of the engine block while i was traveling at highway speed. this caused catastrophic engine failure and oil venting from the engine that landed on the hot surfaces ignited and burnt the engine harnesses, drive shaft boots and other plastic and rubber components in close proximity. it was determined by a mechanic that the pre-cat header lost catyst material and was ingested into the engine during the overlap cycle of the cam timing. this destroyed the internal surfaces of the piston chamber, thus leading to oil consumption and engine reciprocating component failure. gmc/nissan demaagd (battle creek, mi) who had sold me the vehicle used with approximately 95,000 miles on it in august 2013 (only 10 months earlier) would not cover any of the repairs and estimated $7,000 for a new engine and $3,850 for a used engine. i am exceptionally disappointed that nissan would not assist with the repair of this vehicle, which is obviously the result of a design flaw as the internet is full of similar issues with this model, make and year. *tr
The crankshaft position sensor is malfunctional. upon research, it was discovered other owners of the same vehicle experienced the same problem. it appears the issue could be fatal and lead to serious crashes as the failed part may cause the vehicle to stop abruptly and shut off the engine. there has been a nissan recall related to the problematic part. however, the recall only fixed the engine control module by reprogramming it. the recall did not resolve the fundamental problem that is the crankshaft position sensor. *tr

Engine stalls at some times, car shut off while waiting at a stop light. it just dies right in the middle of traffic. i get turn the engine off and start it again, had several problems cranking. checked for diagnosis codes but did not get any faulty codes. i try to speak with nissan about it, its always the same thing...ecm relay campaign had been reprogrammed and that's all we can do also engine was burning excessive oil and felt hard drive on this vehicle. *tr

The engine shuts off at various times without warning at low speeds and at idle - no power steering, brakes, or acceleration. check engine light set with obidsii code of po725, failed crank angle sensor. believe this should be covered under recall campaign 07v-527, as it is a 2.5l 2006 nissan altima manufactured in february of 2006. manufacturer states no recall in effect for this vehicle under that campaign, although symptoms are identical to campaign recall issue.contacted manufacturer, who stated my vehicle is not covered by this recall, as it is a recall for specific locations of production, not just production dates, which was not referenced in their defect information report to the nhtsa. *tr

Crank shaft position sensor had to be replaced due to engine not starting at times, and cutting out at stop lights which was a safety issue in traffic. after talking with nissan i was informed that this vin number was not included jn campaign number 07v5727000 and i feel it should have been. this part was replaced by a private auto repair in october 2014 for a total of $250.09. i had purchased the car in april of 2014 from a toyota used car dealership and started experiencing the problem shortly thereafter. please help me recover my money for repairs. *tr

On 2-17-14 i had check engine light come on and on friday had dealer put it on the diagnostic. result was po 420 replace manifold/bolt and gaskets. this was at 132,000 miles but we have problems with excessive oil consumption also. change oil every 3000 miles but end up putting in 4 more quarts besides oil change amount before next oil change is due. had both o2 sensors and mass airflow sensor changed last year and passenger front side ball bearing replace. two yrs earlier had both crank sensors replaced. may have to have cat converter replaced if keeps drinking the oil but was told by dealer if replace cat convert still will have oil consumption problem ( so means company really hasn't fixed problem if have it replace and will still happen). expensive repairs cranks about $500, o2 about $300 ea., mass airflow $700, and this manifold problem is $780 + 106 for diagnostics. fix problem and look at other blogs and see many have this problem with this yr of altima. *tr
My 2006 altima started making a tick sound around 80,000 miles and around 115,000 miles in 2014 my engine failed. while at a red light my engine sounded like i had rocks in a tin can. my engine was still under federal warranty but nissan wouldnt help me because they said i should have brought the car in but i was out of dealer warranty so i didnt know. i asked them about the excessive oil consumption recall and they said my car was not part of it but after months of research i concluded that it was due to my efn being listed under the recall information report provided by nissan, they still didn't acknowledge my issue. i ended up replacing the engine myself in 2014 for a total of $3600 and $1000 for labor and have been driving it since. i called nissan, i submitted my complaint by mail and i told them my engine was under warranty until 150,000 miles federally (i had 120,000 at the time) but they just overlooked my complaint and never did anything about it.
