Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated that in order to start the vehicle, he would have to partially depress the accelerator pedal. the check engine warning light would illuminate intermittently and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the dealer replaced the crankshaft position sensor and performed a fuel induction service. he referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling) and was advised by the manufacturer that his vehicle was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 118,626 and the current mileage was 118,646.
My check engine light came on and i took it to a precision dealer in my neighborhood. precision told me that the part affected (catalytic converter) had been recalled by nissan and the dealer would fix it for free. when i went to the dealer, i was informed that even though the part was recalled for some cars, my particular vin number was not covered. i also called up nissan consumer affair and they said that the recall did not apply to my car. i had to pay the price for repair myself. when i researched online, i saw tons of complaints by people for a faulty converter that nissan failed to honor. i am filing an official complaint because i think that if nissan knows that a part of theirs is under re-call for certain vins and other drivers are also experiencing similar problems, they should also get their part recalled. *tr
Cars power started fluttering around 45-50 mph, like it was wanting to die. it had previously died while idleing..codes were checked they came up as bad crank and cam sensor..and bad speed sensor.and catalytic converter..noticed car was under re-call..towed it to dealer they flashed ecm..when we were driving car home all problems re-occurred..had codes checked at another garage all the same ones came up..called dealer they were no help at all and wanted to charge us to check codes told them we already had them and they said its not their problem...they have no interest in addressing the real issues or fixing what the real problem is, what a rip-off..
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph into a parking space the vehicle would suddenly stall. the failure occurred intermittently for two weeks. no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel prior or after the failure. the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that there was a failure, but she couldn't recall what it was. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were approximately 47,178.
My 2005 nissan altima has the same problem with the crankshaft position sensor. my car is not on the recall list. i was just wondering why my car is not on the recall list? is nissan waiting for an accident to happen first? i went out today to start my car and now it won't start at all. my check engine light came on and it was reading the troubleshooting # p0335 which is the crankshaft sensor. i spoke to a nissan rep. yesterday and she refused to help me out if did not go to a nissan dealer to have my car checked by them. sorry, i don't have that kind of money. there are places that do it for nothing now. i think you should look into this problem. i do fear driving my car now. please look into this problem for all of the nissan owners. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the check engine warning light. the failure would occur intermittently. the vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the cam shaft sensor would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
This car was part of a recall due to a engine cooling defect, they claimed it was fixed. then all of a sudden last year my heat wouldn't work, instead the air conditioner would just kick on, could not be fixed. i had no heat last winter. i had a friend who was a mechanic look at it this year take a look at it and made a temp fix and i have heat some of the time. he disconnected the a/c for now. this shouldn't happen to a 5 now 6 year old car. try being in 0 degree weather with the air conditioner blowing at you and being told they don't know what's wrong. this has to be a defect because i have had many 10-15 year old cars and never have had this problem this needs to be addressed to that i can have heat, and now that my a/c is disconnected i would like to have my defroster working, but a small price to pay for not getting frost bite in the frigid temps. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the service engine light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the contact restarted the vehicle and drove to an authorized dealer. the contact referenced recall 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling) but was informed by the dealer that the vehicle was not included. the vehicle had not been repaired. the current and failure mileages were approximately 104,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altma. when the vehicle stopped at a traffic light the contact attempted to accelerate and noticed that the vehicle suddenly stalled and shut off. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the contact was informed that the crankshaft needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the current and failure mileages were 86000.
Approximately a month ago, while driving my car i heard a whining sound coming from the engine upon acceleration of the vehicle. the sound would stop when i took my foot off the gas pedal. i took the car to my local mechanic to have it checked out. he took all the belts surrounding the engine off (the drive belt etc.) to see if the sound was related to a defect in one of the belts; the sound persisted and he said it was coming from the timing cover. my mechanic said that he has seen this problem before with the nissan altima so i decided to file a complaint.
My 2005 nissan altima cutoff while driving on highway at night for no apparent reason. was able to restart it after several minutes and made it home. the following night the same thing happened again. on 25 sept receive email notification that a recall was issue for this problem under nhtsa campaign id number 07v527000. contacted a nissan dealership to take car in for recall on 28 sept. the car stalled several times before getting it in for the recall. my check engine light came on my way to the dealership and when i left the vehicle for repair under the recall they call to indicate that the check engine light indicate that there was a problem with the crankshaft position sensor and it will have to be repaired before the recall could be done. was charged $288.00 to replace the sensor. having problem understanding that the recall was for the sensor overheating that interrupt signal output from the sensor and the reset the electronic control module at no cost but not replace the sensor without charging me. the sensor is overheating cause the vehicle to stall why not replace the sensor before resetting the ecm. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated that there was a buzzing and rattling noise when the vehicle was started. when the weather was cold the problem lasted longer whenever the vehicle was started. if the vehicle was warm the noise was not heard. the dealer stated that the failure was caused by the timing chain tension guide which was made of plastic and failed in cold weather. the vin was not available when the complaint was filed. the failure mileage was 74000 and the current mileage was 80000.
The problem occurred on a nissan altima, with a 2.5 l engine. the vehicle, surges sputters and loses power at highway speed. when it occurs it results in a fault code relating to the crankshaft position sensor. the vehicle was recalled to reprogram the electronics because of a similar problem, several years ago, but i was told by a mechanic the problem lies with the old style crankshaft sensor, which has since been "redesigned." i understand a similar problem is common with the camshaft position sensor which malfunction. the car bucks, surges, sputters and loses power, which can result in an accident, as it most frequently occurred at high speed. i understand the same problem can cause the car to be hard to start, which has also occurred on several occasions. i replaced the crankshaft sensor and the problem has not (yet) recurred. however, this is a $300 dealer fix. they will reprogram, but not replace this sensors free of charge. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima 2.5. the contact was driving 50 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to a local mechanic shop. the mechanic replaced the crank shaft sensor at the contact's expense. the dealer was then contacted and informed the contact that her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). the dealer provided no further assistance. the manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the contact's vin was not included in ther ecall. the failure mileage was 85,000.
A few years ago there was a recall on my car for the ecm, it needed to be reprogrammed, i took it in and supposedly got the recall fixed but the service engine soon light kept coming on. the issue kept occurring and i was almost in a few accidents because the car would suddenly shut off while i was driving in traffic. i later learned that the reprogramming caused my sensors to go out and that when it was reprogrammed the sensors should have been replaced also. most owners including me cannot not afford this and nissan is not taking on any responsibility, they want to fix half the problem and leave me to pay for the damage done to the vehicle from their malfunctions in the altimas computers. if i take my car to a nissan dealership they are going to charge me 80 dollars to hook it up to the machine to turn the light off and tell me that the problem isn't their fault. alot nissan owners were told the same exact information the (ecm) would be reset for free but you would have to come out of pocket for the crankshaft sensor to be fixed, if this amount of complaints are identical, then it really means that nissan corp is ignoring the problem and does not care that their crankshaft sensor is failing along with the (ecm) and because of this some lives are gonna be lost, maybe mine also, cause i cannot not afford to get this fixed and i can't afford to not drive my car. *tr
Car was stalling to start to begin with. driving along and stopped with no warning. turned back on, but it takes a while to start. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact was driving approximately 70 mph and the vehicle began to independently decelerate before stalling. the vehicle then independently restarted with hesitation. the dealer advised the contact that the crank shaft and cam shaft sensors would need replacing. the dealer also informed the contact that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign id number v2230000 (engine and engine cooling) but stated he would not perform the recall repairs until the failures were corrected. the contact stated she had not received any notification of the recall and stated the recall repairs could have potentially prevented the failures. the failure mileage was 92,000.
Nissan altima (engine: 2.5s, 2005 model) has engine intermittently stop running without warning while the vehicle is being driven at low speeds. this causes a lack of power steering and throttle and has nearly caused an accident. vehicle has already had recall id from nhtsa: 07v527000 performed on it. there have been 5 recurrences of this issue dating between august 9 to present. vehicle went to power nissan of temp on august 20 2010 where dealer was unable to troubleshoot the issue, reproduce the issue, or find a root cause. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. while driving 35-40 mph the vehicle stalled. she was able to drive onto the emergency lane, turn the engine off and place the vehicle in park. she waited a few seconds and restarted the vehicle and it began to function normally. the failure occurred several times. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who advised her that the crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced. the local mechanic advised her to take the vehicle to the dealer regarding nhtsa recall campaign id number:07v527000, engine and engine cooling. the dealer advised her that she had to pay for the repairs since the recall was not associated with her vin. the failure mileage was 98,000 and the current mileage was 98,068.
Noticed intermittent issue when driving on hwy, car engine will stop/hesitate causing the card to decrease speed suddenly. after 10+ seconds the car will resume functioning normally, the check engine sensor will also come on. when diagnosing the code at a local autopart seller i receive a crankshaft position sensor issue. this issue cause the car to suddenly decelerate, which could cause significant injury. i have located an nhtsa campaign that describes a recall for 2005 nissan altima 2.5l, stating that the "crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor", the campaign continues with "the interruption in the signal from the crankshaft position sensor is so brief that the ecm logic does not have time to fix the issue which can cause the engine to stop suddenly. i have contacted the nissan customer service dept and they will not even recognize nhtsa campaign id 07v527000. i have been quoted by the dealership for 350 dollars for the part. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated the vehicle would continuously stall without warning. the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the failure was located at the crank shaft sensor. the contact located a recall relative to the failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 07v527000- engine and engine cooling) yet was advised by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in the recall. the manufacturer recommended having the dealer diagnose the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the failure mileage was 48,950 and the current mileage was 49,000.
I was driving my 2005 nissan altima 2.5 sl when all of a sudden, the engine turned off. luckily i was going at a low speed on a road with little traffic, but if i hadn't noticed it, or if i was on a highway, i could have been in a serious life threatening accident. *tr
While driving my 2005 nissan altima 2.5 sl, the car stalled while driving at 35 mph. after replacing the battery, the car was still stalling, both while driving and idling. car would restart in a few minutes but would die shortly thereafter. i took it to a repair shop, and they replaced some crankshaft sensor for $300 and now the car works great, no more stalling. nissan should do a recall. *tr

2005 nissan altima timing chain broke at 83,000 miles. the car began making a noise and the next day i was at a red light and when i tried to go the engine shut off. luckily i did not cause an accident at 5:15 afternoon traffic. i had to have the car towed. the mechanic later told me that the timing chain broke. i have looked on many nissan forums and this has been very common for '05 altimas. the chain broke into many pieces and invaded the engine. this is now a cost of thousands of dollars for my family. nissan apparently fixed this problem in their altimas, but it still remains a problem in their 2005 models. i think the nissan company should have to replace these belts and repay anyone for any damage it may have caused. *tr
bought a 2005 nissan altima, 4 cy. 2.5l on june 18th 2010 i started having problems with the crankshaft sensor, the dealer gave me a discount to get this fix because they were aware of the problem dealer also told me if i get this fix the car would be working fine. i did replaced the crankshaft position sensor, but the service engine soon light kept coming on.. it reads the same error every time, crankshaft sensor. recently (07/10/10) my car just stalled on highway made a loud knocking noise blew a big smoke --the fire men and police that showed up believe it threw a rod because it leaks oil everywhere..and is not drivable.nissan states they reset the (ecm) but my vin# isnt in the recall for the crankshaft position sensor so i would have had to pay for that.i then was able to get online and see that alot of nissan owners were told the same exact information the (ecm) would be reset for free but you would have to come out of pocket for the crankshaft sensor to be fixed,if this amount of complaints are identical..then really it boils down to nissan corp is ignoring and doesn't care that their crankshaft sensor is failing along with the (ecm) and because of this some lives are gonna be lost ..as me and my 2 kids faced a stall on highway i75 with many people going well over 70mph..we could have been killed! *tr
I have a 2005 nissan altima and have been having problems with my car! i've taken it to a mechanic shop and it was put on a machine to see what was going on. and it came back my crankshaft position sensor has gone bad. so i went out and bought one and had it put in. and i would say about 3 days later the same thing started again. the car was idle up high then come down and i would start driving not even maybe a mile or less away from where i live it would just completely shut down. i would try to crank it several time and it would come on and then shut off. so i took it back to the shop and said oh maybe it was a bad sensor so i got another one and had that put in. so i'm thinking it's fixed well i could get to a very busy road and it would shut off doesn't matter where i was in the road or all the vehicles coming my way!! very scary thing to have to go through i've had so much stress cause of this problem i haven't been able to take my kids with me anywhere i go cause i didn't want them to be in the car! i have been having problems for like 2 months not ever thinking it could be nissan's mistake.. when it would die i would just sit there trying to crank it and sometimes it would crank then maybe moving 5 feet die again. and then getting it cranked from that spot it would maybe go 20 feet and then die. i've had it to 2 mechanics and tested several times saying the same thing and also this crankshaft sensor can also cause other problems to the car. i've spent 300$ trying to fix this problem and to know it's been on a recall and i was never noticed kind of makes me so mad!! i have a family and kids that has to go everyday things and having this problem has been a pain. i think nissan needs to try more to contact there customer and let them know. i know i've had the same address and was never noticed! so know i took it to nissan and there telling me i have to pay 220$ for the crankshaft ...
Recently (07/10/10) my car just made a loud knocking noise blew a big smoke on the highway at 65mph--the fire men and police that showed up believe it threw a rod because it leaked oil everywhere, had the oil changed exactly 5 days prior. *tr

2005 altima 2.5l - 36400 miles. crank position sensor failed and vehicle drops speed suddenly or hesitates while driving. nissan have a crank position sensor recall ( 07v-527) but will not honor my issue due to the vin number not falling in recall category. dealer will not perform earlier recall service of ecm computer reprogramming without replacing the senor. *tr

2005 nissan altima. about two weeks ago my car started jerking and the check engine light came on. i have had it serviced and no one seems to know what is causing this problem. since all of this has happen it is now stalling when trying to crank up. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan altima. on my way back home on the highway, my check engine light came on. i took it to the dealership to get it checked out. they said my crank sensor is faulty. now this was a common problem for 2002-03 altimas, but the 2004-2006 altimas are known to have this problems. i have been reading reports on consumeraffairs.com and it seems like every owner of a 2002-2006 nissan altima is having this problem. nissan is aware of this problem but refuses to do anything about it (according to other consumers that complained to nissan). as a consequence of this failure, the car can stop in motion. several of the consumers had their cars stop on the highway which can be fatal. the only symptoms are jerking and shaking of the car followed by stalling. the repair costs around $250, but it is not a guranteed fix. many consumers had them happen numerous times, and had to fix them with their own money every time. i hope nhtsa takes proper action against nissan and force them to acknowledge their mistake and issue a recall. thank you.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle felt as if it slipped out of gear and completely shut off. the contact was able to drive onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the failure was caused by the crank shaft sensor. the vehicle was repaired at a local repair shop. the problem occurred again while the contact was driving approximately 70 mph. once again she coasted to the side of the road and attempted to restart the vehicle. the contact stated that the cause of the failure was due to a defective computer and not the crank shaft sensor. the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that her vehicle was not included in recall 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was approximately 72,980. the current mileage was 73,010.
2005 nissan altima - crankshaft sensor. my 2005 pre-owned nissan altima just experienced crank/start problems yesterday. after computer diagnostics were performed, they discovered that the ecm and the crankshaft sensor were defective. the dealership informed me that the 2005 nissan models had a recall on the ecm modules and the crankshafts. they advised me to contact nissan to ensure this had not been previously corrected during the original recall. i contacted nissan to find out that it had never been corrected. nissan rep divya cheeran advised me that the ecm and frame were on recall however the crankshaft was not. i informed her that the dealership had already informed me of the recall for the crankshaft. she insisted the dealership was wrong and there was no recall of any crankshaft on any nissan vehicles. i told her that i was looking at a consumer affairs report on the internet as well as the report/recall notice with national highway traffic and safety administration. she still refuted the fact that there had been any recall on the crankshafts for the 2005 nissan altimas. however, she advised me to take my car into the nearest dealership (sheehy nissan in springfield, va) to have the ecm and frame fixed. she stated that once the ecm was fixed it would resolve the cranking and shutting off problems i was experiencing. i advised her that the mechanic at the dealership had already confirmed that would not remedy the problem with the crankshaft and i would like for nissan to acknowledge the recall and fix the ecm and crankshaft. it was public knowledge and record that there was a known problem with this and could be potentially hazardous to my health and the health of my newborn who frequently travels with me. i advised her that $200 to fix the crankshaft should be nothing to nissan as opposed to me filing a lawsuit with them if any harm came to me or my child due to this hazard. can you please assist me with getting my car fixed? *tr
My 2005 nissan altima shut off in the middle of traffic this morning almost causing me and my car to be smash by an 18 wheeler, and when i turn it back on and gave it gas it would not move. so i turn it off and back on a few times and i was finally able to drive to work. this has happen a few other times before, the first time it happen i took it to a dealer and they said there was a recall on my car that needed to be fixed, i left the car there for 3 days and the recall was supposedly the problem was fixed, but later the exact same thing happen again, luckily i was in a parking lot and a auto zone was near, so i got the guy to hook it up to his machine to check for codes and the problem that was supposedly fixed with the recall was one of the things that was problematic in my car. so i took it to nissan again and told them i am have the exact same problem again and they tell me it's not the same problem and that i would have to pay over 800 dollars to get it fixed and that if i didn't the engine would just eventually die. this time i'm not going to nissan, because it's kind of pointless, i don't have 800 dollars to spend on a problem that is cause by something they were suppose to fix and didn't. i don't a few searches on the internet and there are other people who have had this exact same problem and had to come out of their pockets. i'm just wondering to people have to die for them to recall the car for the actual problem? or maybe people have died and the accident was blamed on something else. the recall that was supposed to fix my problem is nhtsa campaign id number: 07v527000. *tr
We owned a 2005 nissan altima. while driving at approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle started jerking and then stopped running. vehicle was taking to mechanic, and mechanic said problem was with defective crankshaft sensors. we communicated this information to dealership, who acknowledge that there was defective crankshaft sensors recall, but that our vin number was not included in the recall. the dealership would not fix the problem. crankshaft sensors were changed. new parts were completely different from the old ones (totally new redesign) car had about 60,000 miles when incident occurred. *tr
My car stalled twice on saturday, march 6th. the service engine light came on. i took it to my mechanic who said that i needed a new crank sensor. when he entered my vin number into the system, the mechanic said that my car had a current recall that was still pending. i purchased the car this past august and the dealership did not inform me of the recall. *tr
