We have classified the 90 complaints from 2007 Mazda Mazda6 about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
I currently own a 2007 mazda6 and have an airbag indicator light on all the time. yesterday i received a letter from mazda informing me of an airbag recall. the date on the letter is listed as february 2015. i tried their website and can't get an e-mail to anyone. they don't list a phone number to call. they do however give your e-mail address.so this leaves me out in the cold with only one way to seek help and it is from your dept.the letter indicates that in certain situations the airbag could deploy. in the letter it states to wait for the second letter because parts aren't available. this makes my safety at risk and seems as though mazda isn't really concerned. can you help me get in touch with someone who can look at my car and fix this problem. it is my only vehicle. i'm now afraid to drive this car but have no choice but to take that risk.

Upset - called mazda months ago regarding the driver's air bag inflator recall and was told vehicle was not part of the recall. this is a car that my daughter and 4 year old grandson drive around in. now yesterday i receive in the mail (car registered in my name) recall notice for this car - air bag. i called both mazda dealers in my area and neither one of them have the parts to fix this recall. this whole situation is very upsetting. i cannot believe given the serious implications of a possible deployment we have had to wait so long to get notification and the dealers do not have the parts !!! *tr

2nd complaint on this board. as of february 2015 we are still waiting for mazda to send us a 2nd letter which will allow us to make an appoitment with the dealer to get the air bag fixed. due to the seriousness of this situation we have not driven the car since feb. what exactly is a reasonable amount of time to handle a recall ?? mazda cannot even give me a time frame when i call to find out when we will receive the 2nd letter. our state had a report on this recently and the governer told us not to be alarmed and it was ok to drive our cars. so tell me how metal fragments released into the air from the airbag is safe - and how long is a resononable amount of time? why has our goverment not done anything to expedite this situation ?

Takata recall; notified in june 2014 and repairs still not completed and told parts are not available
Takata recall - the takata recall has continued since 2014 with no fix in sight. our vehicle is still on the road and a danger to it's occupants. this recall should never have lasted this long. mazda should either fix the problem or purchase the car from me since i cannot sell it with this potentially deadly defect.

My daughter's mazda was involved in a fender bender which deployed the driver air bag, while the police officer was taking the accident report from the drivers involved, the officer noticed that the airbag was starting to smoke and then burst into flames. only the interior of the vehicle burned from the dash to the back seat(the fire department arrived and put the fire out) i have video of the fire and i'm hoping the officer put his observations in the report. the officer said he never saw an air bag catch fire like that. *tr

I had taken my car to the dealership three times in 2012 because the airbag icon had come on. the 3rd time i had it in was in march of 2012 just before the warranty expired. at no time were they able to find the problem. with the more recent recall because of airbag problems, i asked if i could bring my car in again to be checked as the airbag icon had remained on most of the time. i took it in on 10/09/14. the problem was found, but mazda would not cover the cost of over $1000.00. i am on a fixed income and not able to pay for the repair. mazda's solution was to remove or disengage my airbag. (i don't know which) i was told not to get into an accident as my airbag would not deploy. i do not feel this is a fair or safe solution to the problem. can you help? *js
2007 mazda6 on 2 lane rd. 35mph zone maybe going a little faster ran off rd. hit rt. curb car bounced crossing center line hitting krt bus (public bus} head on causing front of car to buckle then rolled per police report one time. front driver airbag is the only air bag to deploy. police not sure if driver was wearing a seatbelt but he was partially ejected through front passenger side window. the bus was traveling approx. 28-30mph. driver of car was doa. mass head trauma and multiple injuries are the only thing listed on death certificate. it did state however that this driver died seconds upon impact. the bus driver was transported to hosp. for eval along with the one passenger that was on the bus which injury was a broken thumb. *tr

The first failure occurred in july 2007. the vehicle was involved in a driver's side impact crash on the highway. neither of the side curtain airbags deployed, but there were no injuries during this incident, only property damage to the entire driver's side of the vehicle from the back bumper to the front bumper. there was nothing done to investigate the potential failure of the airbag deployment. the second failure occurred in july of 2009. the vehicle was involved in a direct side to the driver's side of the vehicle. the driver of the vehicle sustained an injury to their back, left ribs, and head. the driver's side airbags failed to deploy during the accident. the body shop that was responsible for repairing the damage said that they could not determine whether or not the airbags should have deployed and whether or not there was any malfunction with the airbags. the vehicle manufacturer was contacted and they said they could not provide that type of information to determine whether or not the airbags should have deployed and there was a malfunction. the driver of the vehicle is still being treated for all injuries sustained during the accident. *tr
Mazda 6 sedan 2007 this car was purchased in oklahoma oct 2007 with 14,000 miles & is on the 2nd owner. which is me. i am in a dispute with mazda because the rear side air bag is defective. the vehicle gets an on board lamp stating that the air bag has been deactivated. the car has been into the dealership 11 times since 1st occurance was discovered may 2008. i'm requesting a buy back/lemon law. i am getting denied by the dealer & mazda. i have children & feel all safety features should work. the car now has 81k miles & dealer has not charged me for this at all. but i feel it's a safety issue & should not be on the road. i have all documents & in the process of filing this with bbb autoline. if anyone with this agency would like info let me know. this is a safety hazard & unfortunate that the dealer/manufacturer can turn their back on this. thanks *tr
