The car a recall for dashboard it's melted their glare when the sun hit you cant see. took it to the mazda dealer they wouldn't fix it. i would have to pay outer my pocket. when driving.
Approx 4"x12" section dashboard melting above gauge cluster and creating glare both off of the dash and on the windshield. cannot clean off gooey mess
The dashboard appears melted and sticky and is effecting visibility making it very dangerous to drive
The dash board is melting and causing problem seeing. i received a letter a while back stating there was issues with the dash boards becoming sticky or melting mine has just started doing this and its making it difficult to see on really sunny days from the glare that it reflects on the windshield on the driver side. this is very dangerous i called mazda about it and was told there was nothing they was gonna do about this issue. i dont understand how they can not fix it when its cause of the dashboard they put in the cars. this is not only poor customer service but also could risk people lives. i am not happy about this. this has been happen and only getting worse as time goes on i dont have a certain date so i just picked one below
My dashboard has been melting caused me to drive off road and almost to have accidents numerous times when the sunlight and the traffic light at night reflects on the dashboard/windshield and blinds whos driving and u cant even clean it just wish that it would be resolved before something worse happens
Vehicle was parked in a secured company parking lot. when i left work, the sunroof glass was smashed. there was nothing on the roof of the car. i thought a huge tree limb may have fell on the car and someone moved it but there was nothing nearby to explain what happened. i had the sunroof repaired and forgot about it until i just saw information about this happening on other cars. reporting to you for statistical purposes. sunroof glass shattered, vehicle was stationary (parked), the high temp that day was 90 and the low was 72, nothing was on top of the car (rock, tree, etc), no known reason for why the glass broke.
My dash has glare from dash melt
The dashboard is melted and sticky and that makes it bright with the sun and reflected in the glass internally and makes day driving very difficult.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda 3. while driving various speeds, the radio activated independently. the radio turned on and off when the brake pedal was depressed. in addition, the windows failed to work intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
The dashboard has started to melt. this has resulted in a very shiny sticky mess. the sheen causes severe vision problems while operating the vehicle. i have been almost blinded and unable to see the traffic at times.
The dashboard is melting causing a glare in the windshield. blocking my view while driving.
My dashboard is also melting like others have complained about. it started about 36 months in and only gets worse. it's now a sticky mess that reflects on to the windshield which causes glare when looking out the windshield. it seems to be dangerous to drive on sunny days in florida. it's distracting and is unsafe for the driver as well for anything that is in the area of the glare outside the car. this needs to be addressed. when brought to the attention of my service garage the mechanic told me that he had seen it on about 1 of every 5 cars serviced. when i inquired what it would cost to get it repaired/replaced the guy said it would be close to $2000. that's crazy for something that is obviously a manufacturing issue.
For several months the dashboard on my 2010 mazda 3i has been melting. it is now a sticky shiny mess on top and the reflection of it in the windshield at certain sun angles makes it extremely dangerous to drive. i almost ran over a pedestrian today because i could not see him through the reflection which is the reason i finally decided to report this condition to nhtsa. i was crossing an intersection after making a stop for a stop-sign and started straight forward to cross the intersection. i barely was able to stop short of hitting a guy crossing the street.
My dashboard has started melting. it causes a huge glare across the front windshield and makes it difficult to drive. this is an accident waiting to happen. i did put my car in service at the mazda dealership in clear lake, texas and it sat there for over a month. they did give me a loaner car but they called me to drop off the loaner and pick up my car, i expressed how terrified i am to drive my vehicle and asked if i could stay in the loaner until the issue was resolved, and they said, "it was not their problem" and gave me the mazda corporate number "because it was mazda's problem not the dealership". i called mazda and they told me to return the loaner and to put a towel over the melted dashboard(which i have tried but cause a reflection). i am furious that my safety is not a priority to these people. i need help getting this issue resolved.
Dash board is melting and the gloss coat it leaves is throwing a serve glare in the driver's line of sight. manufacturer has been noyified and states that the vehicle is out of warranty even though there are numerious cases posted on-line for the same problems. mazda has built a vehicle with a known safety/manufacturer defect that they refuse to take responsiblity for. what does it take to get their attention? loss of life???
Melting dashboard. mine is not as severe as others have reported. but there is a sticky/gooey feel to part of my dashboard.
The dashboard on my 2010 mazda 3 has become sticky, there is a slight shine to it which glares off the windshield. i have contacted the dealership and am taking it in tomorrow to see about repair/replacement. i use a sunshade though i do not have a dashboard cover. the affected area is clearly where the dash gets the hottest.
Started to notice sticky residue on the inside of the windshield. hard to clean off making for a visibility issue. days later after the vehicle had been parked noticed the dashboard was very sticky and appears to be melting. after some investigation online realize this is an going issue with these cars and others. i.e. toyota/lexus .
The dashboard of the vehicle, particularly the area above the steering wheel, appears to have melted. the surface of the dashboard is sticky and shiny like it is covered in tar. it cannot be wiped, and the shiny surface produces a severe glare right in the line of sight for the driver. no cleaners or chemicals have been used on the dash, only a dry cloth.
Dashboard is melting creating horrible glare in line of vision occluding oncoming cars. i have pictures of how terrible the glare of the dashboard reflection is creating while driving. i feel like this is a safety hazard and someone will fail to see an oncoming car or child crossing the street due to this defect. *tr
Dashboard melting. glare on winshield
My dashboard is melting. my car isn't even five years old and the dashboard has basically melted to a point where i have to replace it. there are issues all over about this on certain vehicles and as far as i understand mazda will not place a recall, but says i have to pay $1500 to fix it because the glare of the melting reflects off my windshield when i drive which causes a hazard.
The dashboard is melting. it is worse on the driver's side and continues across the whole dashboard. it is causing a noxious fumes and a glare that at times goes across the lower part of the windshield. the glare is worse in the morning as the sun rises and on sunny days. the glare changes as you drive and makes the road appear as if something is in front of you on the road. the glare can be from 5 inches directly in your line of sight to going across at least 2/3 of your viewing line through the windshield-causing it to look as if someone has thrown slick oil or a silver sheet of metal in the road. have swerved quite a few times (depending on the direction i am driving), can't see when people step off of a curb, as the glare comes in the soon and can be there from the start of your drive or appear out of the blue as you change directions or park. you can't help to respond to the glare when it appears-especially when on unfamiliar roads. the smell is of burning plastic. i live in florida any day over 80 degrees in the shade or when parked directly in the sun causes the dashboard to emit a noxious smell, get soft and gooey. bugs, insect droppings, dust, and lint get stuck in the dashboard and cause glare. i drive at least 3 hour/day minimum. the smell causes a headache/sore throat/nausea. i can't put a visor to block the sun-it gets stuck in the melting dash and the visor. when you remove the visor it splatters "goo/plastic" onto the windshield, which can only be removed with a razor. risking getting the hot goo on your hand/arm/face. you cannot wipe away any of the melting part as it is really sticky and the dashboard only continues to melt. i sell real estate and no longer take customers into my car not allowing me to do business the way most sales people do, because clients complain of the smell/feeling sick.
I purchased a 2010 mazda 3 in 2009. this year (2015), around april/may, before the summer heat even got bad, i noticed the dashboard was sticky. since then, it has pretty much completely melted. the dashboard is extremely sticky and soft when you touch it, almost has a putty consistency, but that is not the main issue. the safety issue is my main concern. there is a horrible glare the shine from the dashboard creates on the front windshield. it is almost impossible to see out of the front windshield when the sun is out because of this glare. a dashboard cover is not an option because of how sticky the dashboard is; a cover will definitely get stuck to the dash and destroy it. i have done some research online and there are hundreds of claims for melting dashboards for models between 2009 and 2011. this is such a serious safety hazard, it is difficult to understand why the manufacturer has not been forced to recall these faulty parts.
Dashboard melted completely, i am not able to operate the vehicle from the hours of 10am - 4:30pm because it's impossible to see the road, the windshield looks completely white from the glare in the dashboard, contacted dealership where i bought the car several times and they don't want to take responsibility for it. this is an accident waiting to happen and mazda doesn't do anything!!!!! impossible to operate vehicle at regular hours!!
I have a 2010 mazda3 i-sport model. after coming back from a two week vacation, i found my dashboard to become sticky and, while under direct sunlight, will emit a glare onto the windshield that greatly reduces visibility. it appears as if it is melting. the problem is most apparent close to the windshield, but has spread a great deal across the dashboard on the driver side. it cannot be cleaned. *tr
Melting dashboard and windshield glare
Dashboard melting causing intense glare on windshield making it hard to see drivers in front of me and traffic lights as well. *tr
After 3 years of normal commuter use, the dashboard in front of the driver seat has become excessively shiny. it is the top hump of the dashboard closest to the windshield. the shine reflects a glare onto the windshield directly in the driver's field of vision. the glare is sometimes so bad that it hinders the ability to see other vehicles directly in front of the car. the shine is unable to be wiped clean and leaves a sticky black residue when touched. it appears that the dashboard upholstery material and/or adhesive is defective. *tr
The dash board is melting which is causing a reflection into the windshield making it difficult to see while driving.
Vehicle with continued issue with melting dashboard. requires very frequent cleaning of the inside of the windshield due to the substance build-up from the daily heating in the florida climate. during the day the glare from the sun reflects back onto the windshield causing it to be very difficult to see. polarized sunglasses seems to minimize the issue. at night, certain lighting also highlights the problems especially when sunglasses are not appropriate. on december 8th just after sundown a vehicle began to make a left turn into my right of way at an intersection. the star bursting from the windshield made it impossible to see that they were turning in from of me leading to an impact. i believe that this dashboard issue played a very significant issue contributing to this crash. the fault was obviously the other driver but due to the circumstances i was unable to react quickly. *tr
My dashboard (on the driver side and middle) appears to be melting (and sticky) and is causing a significant glare on my windshield reducing my visibility. i am experiencing a lot of difficulty seeing out of my windsheild since it is almost impossible to see out of it at times due to the glare. *tr
The glue is melts on my dashboard causing a glare on the window. it makes it difficult for me to see when i'm driving on a sunny day. the dashboard is very sticky. *tr
The dashboard on this vehicle is melting. i purchased it used in april and noticed about 1 month later that the dash was sticky. over the last few months, it has gotten progressively worse on the driver's side to the point that the glare causes visibility issues for the driver. *tr
Front dash has melted causing a dangerous glare on the windshield. concerned about toxicity inside car due to melting.
The dashboard in the car is melting - to the point that the glare is affecting the view. *tr
The dashboard on my 2010 mazda 3 has began melting. the dashboard has become sticky and shiny. sometimes the shininess is so reflective that it makes it difficult for me to see when i am driving on a sunny day. there are chunks of the dash that come off like chewing gum. the dash gets on everything like sticky black tar. i can only imagine that there are dangerous toxins being released into the air to breathe while driving knowing that this synthetic material has now broken down and begun to deteriorate. the car is only four years old and well cared for. who is to blame for my loss of value from a poorly made product. *tr
Mazda 3 2010 dash is melting. i have been noticing a glare over the last few months from the dash to the windshield that in sunny conditions was making it difficult to see through the glare. i thought it was potentially some adhesive leaking out of the seam of the dash. it was getting worse over time so this weekend i attempted to clean off the substance. i found that it was not a substance but the dash had become soft and sticky. it was not able to be cleaned off. i have used a sunshade since i owned the car (oct 2009). i have lived in south florida since 1985 and have owned multiple cars. i learned the hard way that you must shade your dash to prevent it from being damaged. however, over the last 30 years, no dash has melted and caused a dangerous glare that is a safety hazard. *tr
As with most of the complaints on here regarding the 2010 mazda3, my dashboard is melting causing it to be highly reflective and emit a noxious odor. this problem reduces visibility and is a major safety defect. further, the noxious odor could be harmful and could very well be a safety issue outside of the visibility issue. mazda needs to step up to the plate and issue a recall like toyota has already done for the same issue. as of right now, it appears that toyota stands by their product and mazda does not.
The dashboard on my car started melting on the driver side but now the entire dash is melted and shiny. i can't see to drive when the sun is out. the refection obscures my vision and is very unsafe. i talked to mazda dealership and they will not do anything. *tr
I have a dash that is melting. it is over the instrument cluster and is turning to a tarry like substance. i does have a lot of reflection and could cause some vision impairment from the glare it produces. i think it is a design flaw. the above incident date is when i noticed the dash. *tr
I noticed that my dash board has started to melt creating a visibility problems. it is very sticky. *tr
Car's dashboard is melting close to the windshield. it is shiny and sticky, and the reflection of the shining dash can sometimes be seen in the windshield. *tr
Over time the dashboard has gone from a matt black rubber material to a very shiny, sticky, melting surface, which is quite visible when looking forward through the windshield. it adversely effects the visibility, especially when driving into the sun.
My 2010 mazda3 has a black tar-like substance that has coated the soft dashboard. i first noticed it last summer (2014). this defect has caused a huge glare across my windshield that limits my visibility any time light is reflected off of it.
The plastic dashboard panel has melted and now has a sticky texture. it is also highly reflective, causing dangerous glare on the windshield when driving.
Dash has glare from on the top that causes safety issues. dash has areas that are melting and cause glare from the sun that prevents safe driving. mazda needs to replace dash just like toyota is doing on even older cars. mazda choose inferiors parts and not owners have a safety issue; mazda step-up and replace the dash on mazda 3.
I have a 2010 mazda 3i and the dashboard is melting into a black rubber tar alike substance very sticky and is reflecting onto my windshield blocking my view of traffic after noticing it early on i tried using a windshield visor but to no affect due to the amount of melting the image of the shiny melting rubber is reflecting onto my windshield now to the point i'm seeing it i can not clean it due to its stickiness and the reflection is getting worse if i can not see what's in front of me is that not a safely concern when your field of view is blocked by a defected part made by mazda its. *tr
Dashboard on the driver side began to melt, and continued to do so. the dashboard is sticky and collects dust and grim. the melted material has a glossy shine reflecting a bright glare into the drivers eyes and onto the windshield. it causes a driving hazard when operating the vehicle. *tr
Dashboard is melting creating horrible glare in line of vision occluding oncoming cars. spoke to mazda hq with no help simply stating that they had heard of this happening to other cars of the same make and year but since it isn't causing a "safety hazard" they will not cover it under warranty or recall it. i have pictures of how terrible the glare of the dashboard reflection is creating while driving. i feel like this is a safety hazard and someone will fail to see an oncoming car or child crossing the street due to this defect. feel free to contact me. thank you for your consideration! *tr
