I own a 2007 mazda cx 7,with 40,000 miles on it. i have taken it in to the dealership multiple times for the ac. i had been told it was normal and fine. last night i was driving home from work when someone on the road informed me that my car was smoking. my husband came to where i was at and found out that my ac compressor had locked up causing my car to not run. took it to the dealer they say it may not be covered as it is not a powertrain issue. as far as i am concerned, it is. without the ac compressor the car will not work or drive therefore it is a powertrain problem, it wont drive and it inoperable. i think mazda needs to recall this part as it leads to safety issues, or maybe they should repair this part for no charge. i am now one unhappy mazda owner...... *tr

I have a 2007 mazda cx 7. i bought it new in february of 2007, so the car is only 3 years old. two major things have happened to my car within the past two months one of which seriously put my safety in jeopardy. i will start with, two months ago, my air conditioner went out completely. the air compressor had to be replaced. then, about a week ago as i was driving down interstate 75 (going about 70 mph), the acceleration on my car completely went out. luckily i was able to get over the 5 lanes of traffic and pull the car off to the side. after i turned my car off, it never cranked again after that. long story short, i took my car into jim ellis mazda in marietta, ga and they said there was internal damage to the engine and the engine would have to be replaced completely. they couldn?t even tell me what exactly went wrong or really diagnose the problem for me. they just said the engine needed to be replaced. the kicker to this story is, when i went in a couple months ago to get my air fixed, i asked them to take a look at the engine because i thought it sounded loud. the said it was completely fine and nothing was wrong with it. well two months later this happened. i have talked to mazda customer service and they will offer no assistance for fixing my car (which i have been quoted $8,000 to fix!). i was told that mazda had reviewed my case and i was declined because there was sludge around the engine, which apparently gives then reason for no assistance. they said that is proof that my car is not maintenanced on a regular basis, however i have documented proof that it is maintenanced regularly. they just didn't seem to care. *tr

For quite awhile i had been hearing a "ticking" noise with my 2007 mazda cx-7..brought it to the dealership in lafayette, la. to have it checked out. they checked it out, updated recalls in affect, stated they found nothing. continued to hear it off and on, had my oil changed regularly. on july 10, 2010 my car broke down (4 yrs old, 33,000 miles) had it towed to dealer in beaumont, close to where it had broken down. the service dept. asked for my service records after it was determined that problem was with the engine.. did not have every receipt due to dealer in area closing with no records there, but provide the last few.. after taking an "image" and sending it to mazda, it was determined they would not honor the warranty because i had excessive "sludge" and wanted me to pay full cost of a new engine/motor. no one wanted to listen to me..i do remember that when my oil was changed, the mechanic had told me in the past that it seemed to have "sludge", but that was only between 3,000 miles. i had taken care of my car, and they were telling that it had "poor maintenance" and would not honor the warranty! *tr

As i was driving to work, smelled burning rubber. my car engine locked up, and i struggled to get off of the interstate highway. i found out that my a/c compressor quit and broke the belt of my engine. with rush hour traffic, i got the car to the dealer. i then found out that a lot of people have had this happen with their mazda cx-7. after talking to the dealer, they pay for parts i pay for labor, and have to rent a car. they replaced the a/c and several parts that go with it. *tr

7/6/10(25,000 miles) driving "piece of crap" from w-pa to phila after 1 1/2 hours in car airconditioning gets hot & loud noise starts. able to pull off main highway &find a sears auto shop they say air compressor in my pice of crap (2007 cx7) has fallen apart - they don't do this work-i needed a mazda dealership-they wouldn't recommend me driving home! it's a holiday (july 4th celebrated this day) i have no idea where a dealership is-i am over 200 miles from home - everything else is closed. found a hotel to stay overnt & search for a dealership. found 1 abt 20 miles away. next day (praying the whole 20 miles) that piece of crap would make it to the shop. it did i explain situation to a non-caring, won't look me in the face mechanic who finally states (after 3 hour wait) my warranty expired 5 days prior & it would take 3 days to get part & fix. here i am 200 miles away from home, in a not so racially diverse area of west pa- leaving for vaca the next day- & i can't get home!!! it was like pulling teeth to get a rental car # & a taxi cab # from these people. i was finally able to get home via 8 hour bus ride & go on much needed (after this ordeal) vaca, however i still had to pay over $800 & pick piece of crap back up. i complained to mazda couple times &finally got letter that they were extending the warranty for air compressors to 60,000 so i got $ back, but not for the hotel stay, taxi ride to bus and bus ride home and back up there! couple other problems came up later -white smoke out of tail pipe after ideling, dealership couldn't find a problem, also saw something leaking, dealership couldn't find anything leaking--- 8/4/11 (31,000 miles) took piece of crap in for a noise it's making at start up. vvt gone bad, but still under the powertrain warranty so got fixed. what's next??? i'm afraid to drive to far in this car!! can't take driving vacas-- gonna get rid of "piece of crap" prior to the warranties expiring in 2012! got to!!! *tt

We own a 2007 mazda cx7. we live in abilene tx we are currently station in dyess afb. on 4th of july we took a drive to odessa tx to meet up with some friends to light up some fireworks for the holiday. on the way back, we began to feel that our ac started blowing hot air. i stopped to check it out, but everything looked to be in order and nothing was leaking. we kept track of all the gauges to make sure there was nothing wrong. we turned the ac unit off and open the windows to get some air from outside. once we arrive to dyess afb in abilene tx. we notice a horrible burning rubber smell coming from the hood or our vehicle, the smell became more prevalent. minutes later, there was a loud bang from under the hood. the car basically began shutting down. all check engine lights came on. smoke from under the hood. no power steering. this happened at 2 am inside of the base a block away from our house, we were lucky to coast into our side of our house. upon opening my hood ? the engine was extremely hot the water was boiling and the smell of burning rubber was extremely hard. we had to get the car towed to the closest mazda dealership. we are now left without our vehicle for at least a month trying to get money to fix it. we were told is going to be 1200 to fix it. during this time i found out this isn't an isolated incident, and i feel mazda needs to address this asap. i was driving with my wife, 7 year old, and infant - and this put us in a very frustrating situation. i was glad i was driving and not my wife, as it could have put her stranded somewhere. or even worse driven out the road since we lost all power steering. i have found out there are a thousand or so people this has happened to. why is there no recall already? it is obviously a problem. *tr

The a/c stopped working on the highway, and there was distinct burning smell from vents. the a/c compressor burned out and failed and when the car was stopped, it refuses to start back up. apparently, failed a/c compressor makes the car inoperable. a/c compressor and the belt are being replaced. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 mazda cx-7. while traveling 60 mph the contact noticed that the check engine light had appeared on the dashboard, seconds later the contact noticed that the vehicle had suddenly shut off without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact had the engine replaced due to the timing chain breaking. there were no prior warnings. the current mileage was 61000 and the failure mileage was 58000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 mazda cx7 . while driving 60 mph the vehicle stalled and would not restart. the vehicle was towed to a ford dealer who was unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. the vehicle was later towed to a mazda dealer who stated that the timing chain broke. the dealer refused to repair the vehicle unless the contact could provide an invoice listing each time the oil was changed. the vehicle was at the dealership when the complaint was filed. the failure and current mileages were 57,000.

I recently bought a used mazda cx-7 grand touring edition vehicle. i bought it on november 8, 2008 with 18,000 miles on it. after owning it for a year and a half i was driving to work one morning when i heard a pop and clanking sound. i continued to drive until my car started losing power however i managed to make it to work. no lights came on, nothing. my husband came that morning to drive the car to the mechanic and within 2 miles all the dash lights came on and the car lost all power. it was towed to grappone mazda in concord nh for what i thought would be warranty work since we were still under the warranty. we were told to produce all service records which we did, and they found some gaps, however, never over the recommended 7500 miles that they recommend for an oil change. our warranty coverage was denied twice. to this day, we still don't know what is wrong with our engine. there have been suggestions and also we've been told that the turbo definitely went. we obtained a carfax to see what was done to the car before we owned it and found out the turbo had been replaced before we bought the car when it was only a year old with 18,000 miles on it. mazda is refusing to work with us on this and have left us without a car now for 2 months. *tr

Stopped at traffic signal 1 mile after leaving office. loud howling noise from engine compartment accompanied by burning smell . smoke began pouring from front left side of engine area. engine fire and/or complete failure averted by immediate shut down of vehicle. problem diagnosed as a/c compressor failure. vehicle has 57k miles. subsequent search of web forums on the problem details numerous complaints of same issue. filing complaint today as this is an obvious design flaw that has not been addressed by manufacturer, through recall or tsb, that could lead to engine fire/failure and serious injury to vehicle occupants; either through vehicle fire or loss of control from engine or system failure, as a result of the defect. *tr

At about 55,000 miles and only 3 years of usage, my vehicle started making a terrible racket and smell. i opened the hood to see it was a the clutch of the air compressor that had locked up and caused big problems with the belt. trying to drive the vehicle to get repaired only made the issue worse. i got a brand new air compressor installed and the noise is now gone and the ac is working fine. (after paying approximately $700) however, the air bag light just started flashing and then staying on and it's only a week since the ac repair. i am worried about the safety of the vehicle and if there is a connection between the two issues. i am reading about all sorts of complaints with both issues and i have read a technical service bulletin about the airbags. a recall needs to be completed very quickly before many owners get seriously injured due to these rampant defects with the vehicle. *tr

Purchased a used 2007 cx-7 with 31,000 miles (still under warranty, allegedly). drove it for four months to the day, 34,000 miles on it now. white smoke, knocking engine. mazda requests past oil changes which i have one. mazda presents me with a $4,100 estimate to fix replace the turbo, engine repair and timing chain. notice that in january of 2008, mazda north american operations put out a service bulletin no. 01-002/08 describing this exact problem. however the bulletin clearly states "only to verified customer complaints on vehicles eligible for warranty repair." great! it can be fixed, mazda says so! oh, what? not so fast. mazda tech says there is a sludging problem therefore voiding the warranty. but the service bulletin says it can be fixed due to my complaint. after further research i discover that the turbo system in this car has an engineering problem causing way! to much heat for normal use, therefore burning oil, therefore causing sludge. mazda uses this "evidence of sludge" caused by them! to claim that the owner did not maintain their vehicle, therefore "your warranty has been voided." mazda is trying to avoid a recall on this for obvious costly reasons. i have contacted an attorney and he is currently working on my case. *tr

Have a 2007 cx7 with 34,000 miles on it. it was purchased in sept of 09 at a mazda dealership used. upon exiting the interstate, at the bottom of the ramp the car stalled just as the light turned green. the car and semi behind me almost crashed into me.. i put it in park and it started up. i got about 2 blocks down the road and was sitting at the light when i noticed white smoke coming from the passenger engine compartment. engine temps were fine but you could smell burnt rubber. i pulled into a gas station and lifted the hood. i could tell the a\c compressor was not turning so i turned the a\c off and made it to my destination about 3 miles later.i took the car into mazda today only to find out the 36 month time period had expired on 2/20/2010. the tech writer almost verbatim described to me what happened when i told him i believed the compressor had failed. i believe there should be a tsr on this product. *tr

2007 mazda cx7 - turbo broke while driving causing tremendous squealing sound and loss of power. able to drive home and had towed to mazda dealership. service mgr called me saying they checked car over and could not find anything wrong with it and asked if i wanted an oil change. i said go ahead with an oil change but there is definitely something wrong with car and to check again. mgr called back later saying a screw in the turbo had come loose, turbo was broken, i needed a whole new engine and it would cost $9,000. car had 34,000 miles and still under warranty. i fax'd copies of oil change receipts. mazda north america denied warranty claim saying my oil receipts were unverifiable. mna told me they would not verify my receipts. they claimed there was "sludge" and that caused it to break and i hadn't taken care of it. it was a leased vehicle with only 3 months left to pay. had just started a new job after being unemployed and had to rent a car costing $650 and then go buy a kia causing extreme financial & emotional duress. i told the serv mgr that i could have been killed and found out these cars were engineered incorrectly causing them to get too hot causing "sludge", that i knew he knew about the issue because a service bulletin had been released jan 08 stating the exact problem, and mazada was trying to avoid a recall. he stated that it was "mazda north america", and not him and if it were up to him he would fix the car under warranty. i told him i was under extreme duress and that mazda should do the right thing and fix the car. they refused so had to leave the car at the dealership.and walk away. now mazda says i owe them $5,000. filed complaints with bbb and attorney general. it is an outrage that so many mazda cx7 owners have had same nightmare and mazda does not care about the safety of it's customers. please help us. *tr

I have a 2007 mazda cx7. a/c problems, i have talk to the dealer and searched the internet and have found many other people are having the same problems. stop cooling, smoke coming from the vents and engine. most only have 36,000- 50,000 miles. the cost of repairs are $1000+. the has had many cars come in with the same problem. *tr

I own a 2007 mazda cx-7 while driving down the road a 60 mph the motor shut down and lost all power. the car has 52,000 miles on it, and is still under manufactures warranty. i took it to a local mazda dealer to have it fixed. after 2 weeks of waiting they informed me that mazda corp would not cover it under warranty due to engine sludge. the oil has been changed at intervals of 3000 to 3500 miles. why will they not address this problem if so many other people have had the same issue with this year, make, and model? this is a serious safety issue and could cause an accident or fire. *tr

I bought my 2007 mazda cx-7 february 2007 with 19,000 miles. at the 20,000 mile mark i had to take the car in to get the transmission computer replaced, thankfully my car was still under warranty and that got taken care of..at 35,000 miles i began having electrical issues, with the windows & doors, i eventually went outside of the mazda corporation to fix the problem since my warranty had expired. i encountered the biggest problem of all on may 30, 2010 at 39,000 miles and a mere 16 months after having purchased the vehicle. while on a trip out of town with my family for memorial day weekend, the a/c suddenly went out and a strong burning smell began to fill the car.the smell was soo sudden and strong that my severe asthma almost immediately begin to act up. fortunately,we were close to our destination and were able to stop within a few minutes. we figured we would let the car rest and didn't drive it for 24 hrs. the following day when we attempted to turn in on, it would not start and there was thick white smoke coming from the hood. we opened the hood and a giant cloud of smoke filled the air along with the reek of burning rubber. being it was memorial day we struggled to find a mechanic shop that was open to assist us and to tow our car. upon diagnosis it was established that the a/c compressor had died out having burned multiple components of my car, the final cost of these repairs is over $1600 including a $1200 compressor. i attempted to call mazda corporate as well as the dealership where i purchased the vehicle and they seemed to wipe their hands clean off this incident even though upon research this seems to be a very common problem in this vehicle, one that upon discussing on forums they seem to be very aware of. i do not have $1600 at hand thus my vehicle remains out of town where it broke down. mazda's nonchalant attitude is pushing me to file a class action lawsuit, they need to take responsibility for this defect & recall it this vehicle immediately! *tr

Driving my car (2007 cx-7 with 29,500 miles on it - still "supposed" to be under warranty) as normal on a relatively hot and muggy day with a/c on (may 27, 2010). rolled to a stop at a light at the bottom of an exit ramp, and the car shuttered and died. popped into neutral, started up, put it in drive and it died again. i shut off the a/c and put the windows down to listen to the car, put it in neutral again and it started, put it in drive and it drove just fine. engine temp was fine. i drove the car without a/c to get home safely. my husband and i switched cars (he has a mazda 3, we are (were?) mazda lovers). he drove it without a/c for the week, and on a limited basis until we could get it to a service appointment. morning of june 3, car has smoke coming out of engine after driving 2-3 miles from home. only the fan was running. there is an awful sound that comes on if the car runs with any of the air/circulation components. engine temp is still in the normal range. it is currently at a dealership and we are waiting to hear back, but my suspicion is that it is the same problem with the a/c compressor/clutch/belt set up. not good. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 mazda cx7. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for another repair and also informed the dealer that it was making a noise. the dealer replaced the vvt actuator at that time. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer because the contact noticed that the failure continued. the dealer stated that the air conditioner compressor was the cause of the failure. after two days, while driving the contact noticed the noise again so the vehicle was taken back to the dealer; the dealer replaced the serpentine belt and pulley system. the failure continued, the noise worsened and the vehicle lost momentum while she was driving; the dealer then stated that she needed a new engine, new turbo, new pulley and vvt actuator. the vehicle had not been repaired. the contact called the manufacturer who asked that she submit maintenance records but offered no assistance. the current mileage was approximately 46,000. the failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 mazda cx-7. the contact stated after the vehicle was parked and he restarted it the vehicle would not start. the vehicle was taken to the dealer three times and after a diagnostic test the dealer could not diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 26,000.

Without warning of any kind this car simply stopped and would never start again. we are currently repairing this vehicle. oil chain failure which caused timing chain to jump the gearing, repairing the valves subsequently. *tr

From 4/14/10 thru 4/22/10 my well maintained mazda cx-7 with 19,767 miles was serviced at rohrich mazda in pittsburgh, pa for a timing chain repair. on 5/11/10 with 20,000 on the vehicle, while driving to a local supermarket, my wife began to smell gasoline. after 1-2 miles of driving with this smell, there was a loud "pop" and the engine was on fire with flames shooting out from beneath the vehicle. the vehicle was completely destroyed. erie insurance assigned a special investigator who determined the fire's cause to be "undetermined" due to the extensive physical damage to the components. however, his opinion was there was improper reassembly with the recent repair. rohrich mazda denies any responsibility claiming it had nothing to do with the repair & recommended we follow up with mazda directly. two other vehicles were also damaged in the process. fortunately no other injuries occurred. this should have never happened to this car with only 20,000 miles on it! *tr

While driving my 2007 mazda cx7 with circulating fan on suddenly heard a grinding noise and had a lot of white smoke coming from under right front hood. there weren't any warning lights on my dash & the temp gauge read normal. car has 43,000 miles on it and was at dealer previous week for routine oil change. local mazda dealer advised a/c compressor, dryer, expansion valve, pag oil & freon are all needed for $1,400 and it would take a 1/2 day to repair once they had the parts. this is a known defect and mazda should cover with a recall. *tr

Timing chain and variable valve timing module failure on 2007 mazda cx-7. *tr

While driving with family, air conditioner suddenly started blowing warm air. all attempts failed to adjust air conditioning. this failure has only happened once but is still not operating properly. when the vehicle was started the next day it began making a grinding noise. the suspected defect is the a/c compressor, it has not been repaired or replaced. *tr

2007 mazda cx-7 with 44,000 miles and the ac compressor locked up and left me stranded on the side of the road. engine began to smoke and smell like burning rubber with no engine warning lights or signs of trouble. *tr

I was driving down the road april 10, 2010, in my 2007 mazda cx 7 when the a/c started blowing hot air, next thing i knew people are flagging me down and telling me my car is on fire! the car was not on fire, just very hot and smoking with a very bad burning smell. dealership said a/c compressor locked up which caused other damage. dealership said "they had no knowledge of problems with a/c compressor". low and behold numerous complaints online of people with the same issues, between 30 - 50k miles, some even losing power steering or complete operation of their vehicles due to a/c compressor failure. mazda has not recalled? this is a problem and it may cost someone their life. please investigate... *tr

Pulled into a gas station, once placed in park position, noticed white smoke coming from passengers front side. opened the hood and smelled something burning. drove home (5 mins) and left until i returned car to dealership. according to dealership, the air compressor locked up and the radiator cap was not working properly. the are replacing radiator cap and replacing air compressor with belt. *tr

Driving on freeway and a/c began to blow hot. smoke and burnt rubber smell coming from under hood. lost power steering assist but was still able to barely steer vehicle to side of freeway. had vehicle towed to shop. a/c compressor locked up and destroyed drive belt. had compressor replaced and it failed 20 miles later, before i even got home. have to replace it again. compressor failure is a safety hazard due to the loss of power steering. *tr

2007 mazda cx-7 started making a grinding sound from underneath the hood, with smoke bellowing from the engine. come to find out that the a/c pump and or compressor has suddenly seized causing major damage to the engine and vehicle itself. *tr

An excess of white smoke emitted from exhaust upon acceleration after a brief period of idle. it was determined that a faulty turbo charger was to blame. so the car was in the shop for 7 days while they replaced the turbo. several months later the car wouldn't start after sitting in a heated garage overnight. it sounded as though the cylinders weren't firing properly. car was towed to mechanic who identified issue as fouled cylinder heads from prior failure of turbo. this time the entire engine was replaced. again the car was in the shop for approximately seven days. some months later an oppressive amount of road noise appeared at all speeds on all road surfaces. we were directed that the tires were to blame. after replacing all 4 tires at a cost of nearly $800 the sound persisted. upon further inspection the technician found that the wheel speed sensors on the rear wheels had failed allowing water to seep in and rust rear wheel bearings. all four wheel bearings where replaced. today the vehicle is again in for engine repair to replace the oxygen sensor and a dead battery. after owning the car for 18 months it is has been in the shop for a total of approximately 4 weeks. *tr

2007, mazda cx-7, 40,000 miles (4,000 out of warranty) the air compressor stopped working. spewed only hot air. i had it at the dealer at 32,000 miles for a compressor/belt squeak. dealer found "nothing unusual". four days now with out the car and they don't know what is wrong. *tr

2007 mazda cx-7 - 39 months old with 35,000 miles, the air conditioning a/c compressor caught on fire, melted the compressor and made the car smoke, had to stop the car and wait to be towed back home. seems to be a problem happening to a lot of other cx-7 owners. would like for mazda to take care of this problem and pay for any parts and repairs on this matter. *tr

My wife and i purchased a 2007 mazda cx-7 a few years ago, and over the last three months it has been in the shop with multiple problems. from an oil leak, to a bad compressor, then the timing chain gone bad and now another problem with the egr. the car has a little over 38k miles and to me it seems very odd for a car being this young in miles, to have major problems such as these. after going back and forth with the mazda corporate office, they first agreed to pay for the parts for my latest problems since i'm now out of warranty. i was fine with that until i found out the labor was over $500 to fix this problem. when i call the corporate office to try to discuss splitting the labor costs, their supervisor contacted me back with an attitude like i did something wrong and decided they were now not going to help at all. that is just poor customer service behind a vehicle that was not ready to be put on our us roadways. in my opinion, this car should be recalled. after reviewing some of the forums, many others agree with my displeasure in the problems with the mazda cx-7--check this linkhttp://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0e5b59/110. thank you. *jb

I just got a mazda cx 7 4 months ago. the a/c system is fried. the factory warranty was no good and i have to pay$1900. please i am read these articles and do not buy. *tr

I own a 2007 mazda cx7 that the a/c compressor seized up on causing a near fire under the hood. i heard an awful noise and saw smoke billowing under the hood. i shut it down immediately knowing that what was about to happen couldn't be good. i went online and found out this has happened to many cx7s now the dealer is telling me that because i've owned this for 37 months, (35,000 miles) that it isn't covered by the 60,000 mile drive train warranty, (if i can't drive it, its a drivetrain problem to me)...this needs to be a class action lawsuit..or a recall you're choice. *tr

No events or warning leading to failure. a/c compressor locked up at 53k mi. just quit working, hot rubber smell coming from engine. *tr

Timing chain broke and damaged engine mazda cx-7 - 2007. *tr

While driving at night at highway speed, noise started to come from engine compartment. seemed to come and go, but suddenly smelled smoke and lost power steering. nearly had a head on collision. this was a very serious near miss. managed to get car to neighborhood car repair shop. after inspection, cause was determined to be seized a/c compressor that led to cascading failures. cost to repair all damage was $2250. i have since read that this is a common failure on mazda cx-7 and still no recall? i will be sending a claim to mazda usa and would also be interested in joining any class action suite to recoupe all my costs and to force mazda usa to make a recall. family's lives are at stake. *tr

A/c compressor and/or clutch seizes-up and causes cascade failure of belt driven accessories with loss of power steering. this happened suddenly at highway speed and is considered a serious safety defect. i searched the nhtsa site and found more than 50+ other such complaints. why this model has not been recalled is a mystery to me? *tr

While driving we heard a noise from the engine, we were about a mile from our destination. when we pulled into the parking lot we saw smoke coming from the engine compartment. when my husband opened the hood, we saw flames. we immediately called 911 and ran to the building to procure a fire extingusher. we were able to locate one and my husband put out the fire. we were told by the mazda dealership that the compressor clutch had failed, causing the fire. we had purchased an extended warranty on the vehicle, unfortunately, it only covered to 60,000 miles and the vehicle had 61,000 miles. the service manager suggested that we should file a claim on our insurance, but since we haven't been able to get a detailed estimate on the damages, we haven't proceeded that far yet. they have had the vehicle for three days and there is no complete information on the damages. *tr

Ac compressor locked up causing car to stall in middle of street and smoke coming from under hood. *tr

2007 mazda cx-7 - a/c compressor went out on way home from fl to atl. white smoke from right side engine bay. was able to turn off a/c in time to keep vehicle running. seems this is a known issue with mazda. $900 to replace parts and labor. mazda of roswell states issue was unknown to them. mazda usa is aware as well as all the forums and this site as well from other customers. many customers have had this happen multiple times. some within the 36k btb warranty, some after. powertrain is up to 60k. with this being a known issue, shouldn't this be a recall if it is a problem that will occur on most 2007 cx-7's with the part? i have emailed mazda usa as well. *tr

Car's a/c stopped working and smoke came from the engine. then the car stalled and the control via power steering went non-existent. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 mazda cx7. while driving 40 mph the vehicle made a loud noise and then smoke was came from underneath the hood of the vehicle. she then pulled over to a mechanic shop. she was advised that the engines oil level was depleted. however she was not scheduled for another oil change until the 25th of december . the vehicle was then towed to the dealer and the technician stated that the turbo failed in her vehicle . the vehicle will be repaired at the owners expense. the failure and current mileages were 65000. updated 02/1710 *bf updated 02/19/10

My wife was driving our 2007 cx-7 with approximately 28k miles along a four lane major road when car lost power and became basically undriveable. leaving her sitting on a extremely busy section of road with my 2 year old son in the back seat as people are flying off an entrance ramp from aberdeen proving ground. she fought it to the shoulder of us route 40 north of baltimore, leaving her in a very dangerous situation. mazda dealership where vehicle was purchased was less than a half mile from failure location and after traffic had died down i was able to limp vehicle to dealer with wife following me at 10 mph. turbocharger failure has been blamed, as usual mazda has denied warranty work due to engine sludge, even though vehicle has been maintained. after thorough research for the last month, while my vehicle has sat at the dealership, via many websites edmunds forum, mycx7.com, mazdas247.com etc. mazda is claiming same engine sludge is cause of failure of numerous timing chains, turbos, vvt actuators etc. even on vehicles that have been maintained by their dealerships. there has been a technical service bulletin released by mazda (tsb# mtol - 5505) that stated the flawed design of their pcv system not allowing oil to drain properly from the turbocharger. no fix has been made available with recent information i have read in regards to the flawed pcv not circulating the oil. hope someone can bring this flawed design engine to light before someone or a family is killed in a major accident where their car leaves them stranded in the middle of a highway like i-95. thanks for the time in looking into this matter. *tr

I have a mazda cx-7 2007. in the last 6 months i had to replace ac condenser twice. it locked up and started smoking. and the car was undriveable. now they have 300 back orders for this part before i can fix my car. *tr

I got into a mazda forum where many costumers are having problems with the air conditioning clutch failure (seized) loosing power steering while driving. turbo failure, causing engine overheating. timing belt failure. i can not find any recalls about these failures. *tr

My wife was driving her 2007 mazda cx-7 when she heard a bang and smoke started billowing from under the hood. she pulled over and turned off the car. after inspection, i determined it was the ac compressor because it wouldn't smoke when the ac was turned off. we took the car to the dealer and they confirmed my suspicion. the air compressor had locked up and needed to be replaced as well as the belt. this was going to cost $1069 plus tax. after reading over 15 pages of similar complaints on edmund's forum, i am filing a complaint. it appears that my wife only had a minor incident while others lost power steering and complete operation of their vehicle. this issue definitely needs to be recalled as this is happening to many vehicles and may cost someone's life. *tr
