2014 Lexus IS 250 Owners Manual - Light bulbs



Light bulbs

You may replace the following bulbs by yourself. The difficulty level of replacement varies depending on the bulb. As there is a danger that components may be damaged, we recommend that replacement is carried out by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

Preparing for light bulb replacement

Check the wattage of the light bulb to be replaced.

Bulb locations

Front

Vehicles with discharge head-lights

  1. Front turn signal light
  2. Halogen front fog light (if equipped)

Vehicles with LED headlights

  1. Halogen front fog light (if equipped)
  2. Front turn signal light

Rear

  1. Back-up light (right-hand drive vehicles)
  2. Back-up light (left-hand drive vehicles)
  3. Rear turn signal light
  4. Outer foot light

Replacing light bulbs

Front turn signal lights (vehicles with discharge headlights)

1. To ensure enough space to per-form work, turn the steeringwheel to rotate the front wheelaway from the bulb to bereplaced.
Remove the 2 fender liner clips.

Turn the steering wheel to the leftwhen replacing the right side lightbulb, and turn the steering wheel tothe right when replacing the left sidelight bulb.

To take out the lower clip, turn thehead of the clip to unlock it, thenremove it by pulling.

2. Unfasten the clamp, and pull backthe fender liner.

When unfastening the clamp, wrapthe tip of the screwdriver with tape toprotect the vehicle from damage.

3. Turn the bulb base counterclock-wise.

4. Remove the light bulb.

5. Install a new light bulb then installthe bulb base to the light unit byinserting it and turning the bulbbase clockwise.
After installing the light bulb, turn onthe front turn signal light to visuallycheck that there is no light leakingfrom the bulb base.

6. Reinstall the fender liner, fastenthe clamp and install the 2 clips.

Install the lower clip by inserting itwith the clip groove held verticallystraight.

Front turn signal lights (vehicles with LED headlights)

1.For the left side only: Pinch theclip to remove the washer fluidfiller opening.

2. Turn the bulb base counterclock-wise.

3. Remove the light bulb.

4. Install a new light bulb then installthe bulb base to the light unit byinserting it and turning the bulbbase clockwise.

After installing the light bulb, turn onthe front turn signal light to visuallycheck that there is no light leakingfrom the bulb base.

5. After replacing the left side bulb, install the washer fluid filler opening to itsoriginal position.

Rear turn signal lights

1. Open the trunk, and remove the2 covers and 2 screws.

When removing the cover, wrap thetip of the screwdriver with tape toprotect the vehicle from damage.

2. Push and pull the light unit towardthe rear of the vehicle as shown inthe illustration to remove it.

Apply protective tape to the periph-eral of the light unit installation sur-face on the vehicle body, such as therear bumper, to protect the vehiclefrom damage.

Pushing on the portion A in the illus-tration toward the rear of the vehiclewill make disengagement of the tabseasier.

3. Turn the bulb base counterclock-wise.

4. Remove the light bulb.

5. Install a new light bulb then installthe bulb base to the light unit byinserting it and turning the bulbbase clockwise.

After installing the light bulb, turn onthe rear turn signal light to visuallycheck that there is no light leakingfrom the bulb base.

6. Align the tabs and push the lightunit toward the front of the vehicleto install it.

Remove the protective tape appliedto the peripheral of the light unitinstallation surface on the vehiclebody.

7. Install the 2 screws and 2 covers.

Back-up light

1. Open the trunk, remove the 3clips on the side which the bulb isto be replaced and pull back thetrunk lid cover.

2. Turn the bulb base counterclock-wise.

3.Remove the light bulb.

Pull out the connector carefully,ensuring that excessive pulling load isnot applied to the wire harness.

4. Install a new light bulb then installthe bulb base to the light unit byinserting it and turning the bulbbase clockwise.

After installing the light bulb, turn onthe back-up light to visually checkthat there is no light leaking from thebulb base.

5. Reinstall the trunk lid cover with the 3 clips.

To install the clips, simply push them in.
