Clock spring malfunction causing airbag light to illuminate on dash. steering wheel controls do not work. this is a constant and daily issue. it happens while driving as well as parked. low beam socket melted. since been replaced by me. both issues are under a recall but my vin is not listed. my vehicles year make and model are listed in a current recall but my vin does not fall within it.
Air bag light came on after going over a set of rail road tracks.
Kia has been selling cars with faulty air bags. my clock spring went out, and i had to pay well over $600 to pass inspection, that virginia requires. the mechanic told me the airbag could have went off without even hitting anything.
The check engine light came on with about 115,000 miles on the vehicle. i brought it to the kia dealer and they informed me that the code was dtc b1764 the passenger ocs mat was defective and gave me an estimate of $2,000 to repair.
For no reason airbag light came on and stays on. checked with diagnostic tool- code b1481-driver airbag resistance too high(2nd stage) showed up. car has 84000 miles. reading a lot of complains about airbag problems. should be a recall.
Airbag light stay on
Airbag light went on for no reason. coil spring is under recall, but mine was the passenger seat sensor. $2000 to replace the seat. should be covered or bypass option offered. i don't need the sensor.
Takata recall my air bag light will not shut off even when i have my seat belt buckled! i'm so worried over this! it's my only vehicle that i drive around with my children in it! why isn't this being recalled!? doesn't matter of i'm driving or in park. noticed around 75000 miles
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. when the vehicle was started, the passenger side air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the failure mileage was 75,000.
Air bag warning light came on and has stayed on. took car back to dealer was told that the clock spring replacement is under a recall and that the ocs mat is defective i cant pay 2000.00 for this repair and think that this should be recalled as it goes hand in hand with the clock spring. please look into this matter as it is not cover under warranty.
At 116xxx miles air bag light has come on. was driving the vehicle when the light came on. vehicle has never been in a crash. checked all connections and fuses and their is no reason the light should come on. passenger airbag off light is not illuminated when there is no passenger in the seat. seems to be a common problem with this vehicle. wish kia would do something about it. i have to use this vehicle to transport my daughter. seems to be a major safety risk.
Air bag light is on. kia dealer says they need to replace the weight sensor mat on the passenger seat with the part costing $2400. odd that so many people have this problem and the cost of the part varies by over $1000! this should be covered by the extended warranty! car only has 80,000 miles on it.
Airbag light stays on. took it to a shop and ran a diagnostic. it stated that the drivers airbag resistance is too high at the first stage. was told to take to dealer. i have looked on line and have found a number of similar complaints that lead back to faulty wiring or sensor.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. while the vehicle was stationary, the air bag indicator illuminated without warning. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Air bag malfunction. light on brought in for recall and light still on dealer said it was ocs mat that needed to be replaced and not included in previous recall. so i still have no airbag and they are requesting $2,000+ to fix. saftey issue is still not taken care of and putting me and my children in harms way.
At 76k miles, the airbag light began staying on. dealer informed me the ocs mat, a $1700 part, needs to be replaced and is not covered under warranty. vehicle was never in accident and was garaged since purchase.
Started car, airbag light came on. light stayed on for about aweek now no reason for it to be on. going to take it in and see what i'm told.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. while driving 65 mph, the contact drifted to sleep and rear ended an 18 wheeler truck. the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was filed. the contact sustained bruises to her sternum, which required medical attention. the vehicle was towed to a dealer to be repaired for cosmetic damages. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 74,000. the vin was not available.

Started car airbag light came on stayed on. no reason for to be on.
The airbag light came on in my vehicle and disabled the entire system. i took it to the kia dealership and they diagnosed it, and found out it was disabled due to an electric field sensor that is sensitive to all kinds of electronics. the technical service bulletin is tsb: bod 072. it has in there that "if certain electronic devices such as cellular phones, laptop computers, inverters, dvd players, radio transmitters, gps navigation systems, satellite radio systems, video games, and mp3 players are put on/around a passenger seat cushion (including in the seatback pocket) or if liquid is spilled on the seat cushion, the airbag warning lamp may illuminate with dtc b1447, b1448, b1764, or b1767" to me, this is a huge safety risk, as someone might have a cell phone on them or too close, and it disables the airbag system. this is for kia sorento (xm) 2011 to current, kia optima (mg) 2009, 2010, and kia rio (jb) 2010 to current.
My vehicle stalls at take off often and also my horn onluy sounds when i turn my steering wheel a certain position . my airbag light remain on also .this is a very dangerous situation. this malfunction happen in the street also.
Airbag warning light on but no reasons, no error codes
While driving one evening, my airbag light comes on, then it turned off, and this happened for about a week. now it is on 100% of the time.
Airbag warning light came on unexpectedly even though the airbags have never been deployed and there has been no damage to the vehicle. there are numerous complaints online about this same issue describing a broken clock spring or passenger occupant sensor mat. kia has had this same issue with other models as well and there needs to be a recall asap. i will not be able to fix the problem at this time since i have mounting medical bills. kia needs to add this vehicle to the recall list.
Air bag alarm appear on dashboard isn't going away
The airbag light came on randomly and has not shut off for several years. i was told by a dealership that it could cost a few thousand dollars to fix. this is obviously very dangerous and that terrifying that it could be set off at any time for no reason or even worse not at all. after seeing so many complaints about this issue why hasn't this been addressed or recalled?
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. when the vehicle was started, the driver side air bag warning indicator illuminated. the contact called the dealer (tonito auto kia in rio piedras, puerto rico) and was informed to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. the contact also stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated back in march of 2012 and was repaired under warranty by tonito auto kia. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. the approximate failure mileage was 97,000.
Air bag light came on at 90,000 and and its never been hit i took it to the dealer and they want 2000.00 to fix it ,i'm on ssi .this is a safety issue please help?
Airbag sensor light came on indicating there is a problem with the airbag. i have never been in an accident, i bought the car new, and i am the only driver. it just came on the other day and has not turned off. i am afraid that the airbag will not deploy in a crash.
Passenger airbag sensor is on and will not turn off. online research shows this to be a common issue with the kia sorento. kia has offered no fix or recall. despite this being a wide spread issue with the sorento, multiple years.
My 2011 sorento only has 89500 miles and yesterday my airbag warning light came on. took it to the dealer right away and they said it has to be diagnosed to see the problem. it will cost $120.00 just to diagnose. i have gone on line to see if this a rare event and to my surprise it is not. i will be taking it to an independent dealer to check it out. i feel this is not going to be inexpensive. this is a safety issue and nhtsa should get kia to clean there act before someone dies!!
Airbag light is now illuminated at 90000 miles. it came on when i started my car 2 weeks ago and has been on since. nothing has happened to cause this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. after starting the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the contact was concerned that the vehicle was not on the recall list. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.
We purchased this car brand new in 2011. it has been serviced and never in an accident. at 104,000 miles, the airbag light came on and now is not working properly. if an accident were to occur, i'm afraid the airbag system will fail resulting in preventable injuries/death. after researching this issue, there have been multiple complaints filed concerning the airbag system.
The airbag light has came on. kia marked it as bad and i had a second diagnostic done at a shop i have been going to for over 6 years. it came back that there is a manufacture issue. something i have no control of messing up. i have never been in a car accident so that has nothing to do with it. it's been on for 1 month now. my warranty expired and now kia won't fix it. they warned me that if in a car accident my airbags will not deploy. apparently there are many people online complaining about this issue. i have children i commute with everyday and i think kia should have a recall on this to avoid lawsuit in the future. what happened to the customer is right and providing excellent service to have customers come back? i regret buying a kia.
The airbag light illuminates red on my 2011 kia sorento with 55,000 miles. this indicates the airbag would not deploy in a crash. although kia motors has sent out the extended warranty to cover the airbag clock spring assembly, this airbag failure was diagnosed under code b1764, and is a defective seat cushion with a replacement cost of $1300. this defective part should be included in the extended warranty for airbags, or determine an alternate fix. a defective part that is not critical in a crash has rendered my airbags useless.
I have had my 2011 kia sorento for 2 years now and at about 115k miles after starting the car the air bag indicator light came on and will not go off. after researching, it appears that this is a common problem. i suggest that kia looks into this and issues a recall since this is a obvious problem and i like others carry children as passengers and do not feel safe anymore and am looking into other auto manufacturers.
Driver air bag light is on and won't turn off
My air bag light is on so we hooked up the scanner and it threw the code b1346 for the clock spring which seems to be a problem with alot of other's as well.i think their should be a recall and i will be calling kia and complaining
Kia sent a notice that they are extending the warranty for the front airbag clock spring assembly. my airbag light is staying illuminated so i took it into the dealer for a diagnostic. the dealer informed me that the issue is not the clock spring assembly its the occupant classification mat. this means that if i am in a crash my front airbag will not deploy and i am risking the life of my passenger. why is this issue not included with the notice that they sent since it also involves the airbag and the airbag sensor?
Airbag warning light came on unexpectedly even though the airbags have never been deployed and there has been no damage to the vehicle. i have been advised by the dealer that the airbags will not deploy since the light is on. my vehicle has approximately 75,000 miles. there are numerous complaints online about this same issue describing a broken clock spring or passenger occupant sensor mat. kia has had this same issue with other models as well and there needs to be a recall asap.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 kia sorento. the contact stated that the air bag lights remained illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 95,223.
Takata recall kia sorento 2011 my driver side and back passenger doors don't open from the outside when not in motion or in motion. my air bag light is on as well. i called kia and they want to charge me $500.00 dollars for a diagnostic because i am over my warranty. i tried contacting the kia's headquarter and all i get is a recording. this illegal and its extremely dangerous if i get into a car accident. i have children as well. what can i do to get kia to fix this matter. i when on the website and read several complaints with the same problem. why is this matter not a recall. kia is putting peoples life in danger. i need my doors fixed. i have to climb through the right passenger car turn on the car bring the window down and then walk around and open from the inside. this is ridiculous. kia should not be charging owners of there vehicle for this since its a safety matter. please what can i do to get this matter fixed as soon as possible?
Both doors locked on left side. can not enter care on left side. running or not. i'm locked out. air bag light has been on while under warranty at time i ask them to fix it. still not fixed.
Air bag light on without any accident. this is safety matter. air bag will not deplore in case of accident.
Fault code b1620, internal fault replace srscm. just out of warranty 107000 mls. no previous air bag deployment. many complaints on line but no recall. $1000 to fix. this is a safety issue and should be recalled at kia's expense.
About a month ago i discovered that my air bag light came on. well apparently i am not the only person that has complained about this. i called my nearest dealership which is in huntsville alabama to let them know about this problem of course they informed me that there will be a 120.00 charge just to check to see what is causing this problem, i suppose to have an extended warranty which i feel has expired so therefore the charges are all on me. i did some research only to find that thousands of consumers have complained about the same thing with the same model. i want to know what can we get done about this issue before someone gets injured. thanks aletha
Airbag light has been on for miles. kia states it is not under warranty, but that the entire airbag system is deactivated due to this error code. they quoted at the least $1,500 in parts alone, not including labor and they can't guarantee that will fix the problem. i am finding this a common issue in 2011 kia sorento. this should be a mandatory recall. people can't afford to fix this problem. but this is a major safety issue. nothing caused the airbag light to come on. my car has never been in one accident nor have i ever hit anything with my vehicle.
