The stereo system makes beep sounds when you push the buttons but the music sounds, radio, and phone won't come through speakers at all. i do know that the kia soul had this same problem and was recalled for it our car has 95,000 miles on it so i don't know why this has happened
2013 kia optima sport with approximately 47,000 miles loss of turbo. pulled out of my garage and my car seemed sluggish. i noticed the engine light was on. as i accelerated my turbo did not seem to kick in and my car would rev up and not accelerate very well. called kia they said i have 5 year or 50,000 mile warranty. i told them i also have 10 year 100 mile powertrain warranty. just ran a recall check and nhtsa states recall on long block engine and turbo recall on my sport model.
The car started to make a ticking sound, while in motion on a city street, quickly took the car to a shop & was told that the part that had to get fixed has to do with the code po1326
I was driving to work-freeway 65 when check engine light and oil light came on. the car dropped power and i could have had serious injuries to myself and others. i contacted kia and they had it towed to dealer-dealer and kia 800# give you the run around-they said there engineers told them we need to do oil comsumption test and told me to pick up this dangerous car and drive it. i have made numerous calls to kia and they never call back- i even asked the service manager if he has driven my car and he said no. this is not taking care of your consumers/customers to even ask me to place my life in danger to keep driving this car-they are well aware of fires and the seriousness of driving this car and putting others in danger-my car has sat at kia -independence, mo for 2 1/2 weeks and i also received no recall notice ever. my car had 5 recalls at the time it was towed the most serious recall is sc147 nhtsa 17v224 my car had 65,000 miles . there is no way i will drive that car until kia resolves the issues, i also had large amount of white smoke- coming from tail pipe-dealer said car burning oil don,t know where,well that isn.t so true. dealer aid motor needs replaced but it is out of there hands because engineers said oil test needs done.drive it come in every week so they can see how much oil it burns-i am glad they think our time isn.t important or our safety-this is there mistakes and they need to resolve it.
Recently i have been having issues with my vehicle it will cut off while driving the and i am unable to apply the brakes, just last night while driving the vehicle it stalled out and started going slowly i could not apply brakes to the car and it started smoking from the dash and the engine with no other current conditions i had to throw the car in park with out being able to use the brakes in order to stop the vehicle this almost caused an accident and almost cost me my life i noticed from other complaints others are having the same issues with no current solution or problem this is very weird

While accelerating vehicle would lose power even though gas pedal was pressed. there were no rpms showing at all no matter what speed i was driving. car would accelerate until engine power lost, i would let off the gas, car would shift hard and then i could accelerate again until just prior to next gear. same thing would happen. also, when this occurred, i lost all air conditioning cooling. fan would blow but no cold air.. drove fine prior to this happening and drove fine after car sat over night. haven't been able to duplicate issue but have video and pictures showing no rpm, but travelling/ accelerating
My kia has less than 40,000 miles and the line beside the turbo is leaking oil like crazy
When attempting to start my vehicle everything turned on in the car except the car itself. brake pedal was stiff and nothing would turn the engine on. it took over 10 minutes and was finally able to get the vehicle to fire. has happened twice today 7/13/19. the vehicle is a push button start with battery charge of 95% and new batteries in the fob.
I have owned my vehicle for 3 years. my airbag sensor light has come on fir i the 2nd time. i spoke with the manufacturer and they are showing no desire to look into the problem without the being a sizable expense to myself. also my back up camera is showing signs of connection issues. both i feel are a ssfety concern of driving the vehicle.
My 2013 kia optima engine shut off while i was driving and luckily i didnt get into accident and was able to park nearby to wait for a towed truck. this is very scary and dangerous. not sure what to do
Passenger side headlight keeps going out , it has happened at least 7 times and per southwest kia the entire kit would have to be changed. and it's only the passenger side that has the issue. the date reflects the most recent time it's happened
Driving home on the highway on a sunday evening on may 19, 2019 in oakland, california, my sunroof (specifically, the middle panel of the three glass roof panels on the kia optima sx 2013) suddenly and without any warning cracked, letting off an ear-piercing pop. i drove to a safe place with my hazard lights on, hearing pieces of glass fall off of my car into the lane behind me. the sunroof was closed at the time of the incident, and fortunately, the fabric sun shade underneath was closed, so i was spared from the shower of glass and injury other car owners have experienced during this explosion of glass. there were no other vehicles around me at the time of the incident and no debris, and i was driving straight on a smoothly paved road. when i inspected the sunroof, there was a huge hole in the center of the glass panel and the broken glass around the hole was pointing upward into the sky. the entire glass panel was shattered but still in place. there was no debris or a rock inside the sun shade underneath that could explain the hole. it was altogether eerie and very frightening and traumatizing, and i was grateful i wasn't killed by any potential accident that could have been caused by this unsafe sunroof explosion. i am in process of getting it repaired at the dealership where i bought the car used, and i have made a claim with both my car insurance company (geico, who has not been very helpful in acknowledging this as a manufacturing defect), and with kia consumer affairs. kia also has not acknowledged that this is a defect, and none of the kia dealership service representatives or managers i've spoken with (six of them) have heard of this before.
My car caught fire sitting in my driveway when i was asleep and burned to the ground
On march 7, 2019, my 2013 kia optima caught fire while my daughter was driving. she parked the car in a public parking lot and realized the front end of the car was on fire. thank god she is physically okay, and no one else was injured. my car was a total loss, another car was a total loss, and a third car was damaged. the insurance company determined the cause of the fire was no fault of the motorist, rather product malfunction. any suggestions welcome.
Engine recall. dealership first received vehicle repair march 4, 2019 for complete engine replacement due to recall and car become completely immobile while on freeways. and towed to dealership. dealership informed me first engine failed and reordered a new engine. received vehicle back from 2nd attempt of engine repair may 16, 2019. vehicle check engine light illuminated may 31,2019. returned vheicle back to dealership. repair to harness and noc sensor. received vehicle back for repair june 8th. on june 10th vehicle became immobile again while driving out of parking lot and towed to dealership for repair. waiting on dealership for details of car problems.
The radio is no longer functioning and i have seen other videos where people are having the same problem with my same type of vehicle.
The traction control on this vehicle is dangerous. if the tires slip for any reason, power to the engine is cut. this can be a slight slip from water on the road, stepping on the gas to pull out into traffic, or driving in icy or snow conditions. you have to give the car at least 10-20 seconds to move again. with oncoming traffic this could be deadly. i have had numerous incidents where i was almost hit while waiting for the engine to re-engage. sometimes i am then stepping on the gas, casusing another slip and stall in the same instance, there is a switch that can be engaged to turn this off, but you have to turn it off every time you start the car. i have asked at least three different kia dealers about this right after purchasing the vehicle see if it could be permanently turned off, but was always told no.
While applying breaks i often get loud rumbling noise on city streets, also when it rains water leaks on driver and passenger feet under dash this happens when vehicle is in motion and stationary.

On jan 2nd, my ecm module went out on my car. this part kia tells me is recalled for 15-18 days- today is jan 15th- there is no part- they tell me this is the part engine computer module that runs the car. all lights came on in my car, and i could not accelerate more than 10 mph with the car. took it immediately to a repair shop. it's on back order because so many optimas in my year are failing this part. in the interim, i am without a car- my car is stuck in satellite beach at boniface kia in melbourne, fl i live 140 south in west palm beach and i have no assistance from kia. they have no real answer on getting this part or eta on when i can expect my car back. i do not have any documentation yet- the servicing was all scheduled through devon's automotive in satellite beach at 321-773-6412. they just informed me today that on jan 14th boniface kia called them for my car as they found a part locally but the part was defective.
I was driving the vehicle when the battery light came on and then the car started to overheat and then just cut off. i tried to start the vehicle but would not start. had it towed to kia wich told me it was the pulleys froze up and shredded the belt. now kia just replaced my engine from the recall. now i always have the oil changed every 3,000 miles and i take it to the same place everytime now when they changed the engine they said i would need a new alternator but that was it. not to mention i just had it at kia for a oil change and a free inspection. which the inspection stated nothing about the belts or pulleys which are supposed to be inspected. so that is twice they missed a worn out idler pulley. now the mechanic i had looking at it told me it was so worn that it broke off and that there is no way they missed it.
Car spontaneously caught on fire resulting in total loss. no injury but driver had to jump out of moving vehicle.
On september 16, 2018 at approximately 930am, while on duty at work(correction officer) my kia optima gdi 2013 went up in flames in the parking lot of my job.. i was not present and the vehicle. i had already been on duty 530am that morning. once i made it to the scene my car was completely almost burnt to the ground. the fire department labeled it as a electrical fire, which caused the car the burn from the inside out, starting from the engine. i had several personal items of mine burnt in the fire and also work equipment that was lost in the fire. since the incident i've suffered mental, emotional and physical distress. i'm a single mother and i depended on my car to get me where i needed to go. things have been very frustrating and hard. i'm seeking help from kia motors. *tr
The passenger side window fell down into the door . when the dealership removed the door to look at what happened they found where the plastic wheel and wires that help the window go up and down had broke they felt it was a malfunction very costly to replace
2013 kia optima sx. car loses power while on the road, engine warning light comes on. car can't be driven past 20 mph or so no matter accelerator position. car has been taken to dealer sevral times and a cause still unknown. dealership changed engine cable harness and reset comuter (apparently settings were scrambled) and car then is functional. last time, car lost power in highway and almost got rear-ended. dangerous.
Diving at 40 mph. come to a stop at red light and engine begins making a slight noise. no warning gauges or warning light go off. start driving to drive again and 2 blocks later a very loud mechanical bang and the engine shut down. would not restart. oil light went out using the starter while trying to restart. never got the engine restarted. car is now at kia of lansdale after i had to pay for towing. i perform courier services to us treasury dept and us attorney in philadelphia area. i need this car back desperately. last oil change was 2000 miles ago with full synthetic oil. always have used full synthetic. when i got the car pulled over and got out the smell of oil burning was clearly evident to myself and another gentleman who stopped to see if i needed any help. i believe this is an absolute recall related issue.
August 21, 2018, we had the car towed to gossett kia motors (dealership) because it would not start.. the car has a push button start, whenever we tried to start the car by pressing the start button and pushing down on the brake pedal the car would not start. the dealership was unable to find a problem because the car would start for them. we drove the car home the same day. on the night of august 22, 2018, the car would not start, same as described above. on august 23, 2018, we had the car towed to the dealership and it was repaired and returned to us august 25, 2018. today, august 30, 2018, the car did not start and exhibited the same problem as the previous two times. we will have the car towed to the dealership at their convenience. luckily for us, each time the car did not start it was parked in our driveway. special note, on august 2, 2018, we took the car to the dealership for brake repair work. additionally, one of the tow truck drivers stated he towed several kia optima's with the same described problem.
Takata recall - we called dealer ball kia in national city, ca & were told that we would receive a letter. for us to call back then & that we had to continue to operate an un-safe vehicle until the letter arrived and a appointment could be made. this car could kill us upon impact!!! please, there has to be a better & safer solution.
My sunroof exploded while driving on a bridge.
While driving our 2013 kia optima ex 7 7/26/2018 the engine died and all of the lights came on the dash . we coasted to a driveway and opened the hood noticed a burning smell . i looked closer at the vehicle and noticed the engine was on fire . i had my wife and three kids from my basketball team get out of the car and go to a safe place . the fire department showed up and put the fire out . the whole front end of the car burned .
Push the start button and car did not start tried the 30 second rule car just sizzled after about 10 tries car start but cut it off does same thing my car was parked in driveway or at work and it cuts off in traffic engine was replaced last year due to recall battery has been replaced parking light on one side is out when replacing it car also would not start
I have been having repeated issues following the kia theta ii engine recall replacement (sc147) since june 2018. my car is practically new with 53k +/- miles, purchased new, and had all the recommended and required maintenance performed. i took my car to rick case kia (dealer code:ga083) to have my engine replaced midsummer 2018. since then i have been experiencing persistent check engine light (cel) issues for the same engine diagnostic code(p2191). each time i take my car to the dealer for resolution, technicians give me different reasons for what they "think" could be the root issue. thus far, i have been told the issue was due to bad gas, an o2 sensor gone bad, a leak, history code from another dealer not clearing the recall, and now a fuel kit will be replaced. it is my assumption that if kia technicians truly knew what the issue was i would not have so many repeated trips for the same issue. to this date(december 14th 2018) they still have not provided a clear resolution. in light of recent events surrounding kia vehicles, specifically optima, catching on fire and engines randomly blowing up this is something that needs an immediate resolution.it impacts my safety as the vehicle owner and those driving around me. i have expressed how uncomfortable i am driving this car in the current state (with the engine light on) and my concerns are being dismissed. i am told that it is not a drivability issue and i can drive it away with the light on. it should be no surprise why that is not a comforting diagnosis as i have been back about 6-7 times now. i am currently making attempts to engage/escalate this with the kia corporate office. in an attempt to be proactive i am seeking help!

My airbag light is on and my horn i blowing for up to 45 minutes randomly at anytime; driving or stationary. my car is unsafe. i had my car diagnose at cobb county kia in kennesaw, ga 30144 and the service manager, joe told me that the issue was the clock spring which kia has recalled on several other models. the car is unsafe; the airbag does not work at all. the dealership wants $600.00 for a safety issue.
I was driving my car on the expressway and heard a loud boom, it sounded like an explosion or as if someone was shooting. scared the crap out of me. i then heard and felt wind coming into my kia. i pulled over and my front roof of my panoramic sunroof had a big hole in it as if a meteor had fell out of the sky on it. . i contacted my local dealership no help, i contacted kia consumer affairs...no help or recalls. i filed a claim with my insurance company to have my roof repaired.

On saturday, november 17th at around 7 pm, my husband and i was driving on 118 freeway at 70 miles per hour. all the lights came on the dash board, and the car just turned off. shortly, after we got off the freeway, we turned the car back on and a couple of minutes later the car turned off again. we took our car to galpin kia on monday in panorama city, ca.. the dealer kept the car 3 days to checked out the engine and drove car 6 miles and determine the car was ok. my husband and i are very concerned for my safety. please help us to resolve this issue before an accident ovcurs.
On saturday, november 11, 2017, i was traveling on the freeway at 70 miles per hour. my 2013 optima automobile stopped suddenly on the freeway. i restarted the car and proceed to exit the freeway. once i exit the freeway and at the light, my car stopped again. so, i knew something was definitely wrong with my car. on monday, november 13, 2017, i took my car to galpin kia in north hills to have the car checked. the dealer kept my car for 3 days, therefore, i had get a rental car. i then received a call on wednesday, november 15, 2017 that the test ran on the engine showed nothing was wrong with the engine. note: i received a recall via mail regarding the an issue with the engine for the optima 2013 automobile. due to fear and worry, i am afraid to drive the car. however, i have to go to work, so i have been taking the streets. please assist me in getting the recall of the engine problem done on my car, so i can drive my car and have peace of mind in knowing my car is safe to drive.

While driving my car, my sunroof exploded and broke for no apparent reason. nothing hit the sunroof. the sunroof was closed at the time and the cloth shade was back so that we could see the sky while driving. glass shattered and fell all over me (the driver) and my passenger and all over the back seat of the car.
I had my passenger rearview mirror broken hanging by the wires. they replaced in dealer after i insisted on a replacement. before they replaced, i had the same problem with the drivers rear view mirror. looks like they are too fragil. what should i do with it?
Kia engine recall - on april 2, 2017 my car stalled. the vehicle was in motion on a surface street (chastain rd) and to be towed (usaa roadside) to a local repair shop (pepboys). the mechanic stated that engine was gone. i had just had the car at the dealership (cobb county kia, kennesaw, ga) 2 days prior for routine oil change and a vehicle check. i reported the problem to the dealership (cobb county kia) who had the vehicle towed (marietta towing) to them at their expense and cited the diagnosis (engine failure). the maintenance supervisor, head mechanic and i viewed the engine together they both reported that there was no sludge in the engine and it was well maintained. there has been a recall issue be there is no guidance on the repair as of yet. joseph, the maintenance supervisor had a trouble ticket submitted on my vehicle but my vin is still not referenced on this site. the dealership has had my car for over a month and half without any repair guidance from kia motor corp. all while knowing of the engine issues. please help me. i need my car.
It stalls at low speed and stalls at high speed pulls hard to the right. and motor makes all kind of sounds like rattles when cold. and run poorly when cold. had a total of 4 recalls and have not had it a year. had it sent to kia of chattanooga when i first got it from edd kirby of dalton,ga and all they done was put 600 miles on it. and did nothing to it. then it was taken to kia of dalton,ga for the rest of the recalls but nothing was fixed all they done was serviced the car. the car is unsafe to be on the road. it is going to end up getting someone killed or badly hurt. i am about ready to call a lawyer and channel 3 news of chattanooga, tenn. if you call for more information you may talk to my husband [xxx] at anytime. The rear camera does not come on immediately and sometimes i have backed up20-40 ft before it engages. it is a problem and i recently was hit by another car when i wa backing up because i didn't see them coming at me. this has been a problem since the beginning of my new car ownership in 2012. dealership says nothing is wrong with the functioning of the camera.

I have had issues with the battery since 2014 i called when it originally started to see if there were recalls and their wasnt. the car is dead due to battery failure if you leave it for a more than 3-4 hours for example drive it to work and have to get a jump at the end of the (5) shift. it is will stop for a while then the problem comes back. it stopped for about 6 months and now it has started again
