On or about 10 am on 8-16-13 our air bag light went on and all steering wheel functions quite working. about 20 minutes latter the air bag deployed. the edr system reported that, no airbag went off and there is no recorded event. this from jeeps corporate investigation. the srs module is also fine and has not triggered any event. this leads back to the clock spring and a short that they never even considered at the investigation of the know part that was faulted/failed. *tr

Safety recall n28/nhtsa 13v-234 - chrysler corporation is not supplying the parts to dealers to complete the repairs necessary to prevent fires & crashes (per the recall notice). this is unacceptable. the waiting list for parts is very long and chrysler reported to me today that each dealer gets 1 repair kit every 14 days. if someone does the math, these means that it will take over 30 months to supply the parts for the necessary repairs, given the number of recalled wranglers (1800,000) and the number of dealers in the us. this is unacceptable and the nhtsa has a responsibility to the traveling public to ensure that recalls such as n28 are completely in a timely manner. *tr
I have been trying to get this recall (see below) repaired for over a year. i am alwas told there are no parts available from my dealer. i wrote chrysler and they say there is a shortage. i still get notices in the mail telling me to get it fixed??? they even set up a web site for me??? http://n28.myautorecall.com/kenlamonda i am hoping you can get this resolved for me or tell my not to worry like my dealer tells me... report receipt date: jun 04, 2013 nhtsa campaign number: 13v234000 component(s): power train , steering potential number of units affected: 180,131 all products associated with this recall expand details close 11 associated documents expand manufacturer: chrysler group llc summary: chrysler group llc (chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 jeep wrangler vehicles equipped with a 3.6l engine and an automatic transmission and manufactured january 23, 2011, through february 23, 2013. the power steering line may contact and wear a hole in the transmission oil cooler line resulting in a loss of transmission fluid. consequence: a loss of transmission fluid may result in a loss of transmission function which may increase the risk of a crash. remedy: chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering return tube assembly, free of charge. the recall began on september 23, 2013. owners may contact chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. chrysler's recall campaign number is n28. notes: owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. *tr
This is a recall that has not been fixed i have called dealerships since 2013 and no one has call me back. this recall is for the transmission oil cooler tub may come in contact with power steering fluid return tube. prolonged contact with the tubes could cause a leak in the transmission oiler cooler tube. operating the vehicle with insufficient transmission fluid may cause damage to the transmission and a loss of transmission function which increases the risk of a crash. *tr
This is a safety recall complaint n28/nhtsa 13v-234 transmission oil cooler tube. first notice received in 6/2013, parts to fix not available at the time. second notice received 1/2014 indicating parts available and to contact dealership "right away to schedule service appointment." contact was made with dealership and they indicated there is a 4 month waiting list because they are only provided one set of parts per week needed for this recall, which means, only 4 jeeps a month are receiving the repairs for a 2 hour fix. this is absolutely ridiculous. dealerships should be provided these parts as soon as a customer contacts them on this safety recall. i have been put on the "list" and will be called when i move to the top. a 4 month waiting list means only 16 jeeps will have this safety recall taken care of before i am scheduled. solution: dealerships need to have these parts available to them as customers call to schedule an appointment. they should not be rationed nor should a complaint be filed against the dealer. the complaint is with chrysler group for not being able to supply parts for a safety recall that could potentially present a life threatening situation if the defect is not taken care of. *tr

On the 2012 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag and esp warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008+ jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a poorly designed clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failures in the 2008 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around, as well as hazardous, and potentially fatal esp inputs that can cause the jeep to strike into other vehicles and/or objects on the road, and potential roll-overs. also, in the case of steering gear box failures, the clockspring is designed in such a way that it will also take out the clockspring, effectively doubling the cost of any required repairs. daimler chrysler has refused to address the reliability or safety concerns for this issue. *tr

Was driving on highway at approximately 55 mph and hit a small bump in road. the front end started to shake violently and steering wheel went side to side. it felt like the vehicle was going out of control and i feared i might end up in a collision. i slowed the vehicle and applied brakes to bring the vehicle under control. since that time, it has occurred often and it is very dangerous. to date, i have replaced the steering stabilizer and checked all other components for wear. tires have been balanced and rotated. this alleviated the problem but the problem has since come back. according to my daughters, they have experienced the front end shake on various occasions while at school in albuquerque. i have researched on the internet and my vehicle problems has been termed "death wobble" by other jeep wrangler owners. i also found out there are a lot of complaints but chrysler jeep has not issued any recalls to fix this problem. if i can't fix the problem, then i will be getting rid of my vehicle for a safe vehicle. *tr

Please help. i have received many chrysler notifications regarding a safety recall on my jeep. (one component rubs up against the transmission and causes it to leak). i started getting these recall notices in november, 2013. i have called grapevine jeep many times to get an appointment. they continue to tell me that there are not enough parts from chrysler and i am on a waiting list of over 40 people. why are there no parts and chrysler continues to send out notices of safety issues. this concerns me very much. please help resolve this issue and put the heat on chrysler to make us safe. i will be happy to contact the local news stations here. i love my jeep, however, i'm far from excited about the sales/service that chrysler (my nearest dealership) offers. i dread dealing with them. thank you in advance for your prompt needed attention to this matter. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep wrangler. the contact received nhtsa recall campaign id number 13c234000 (powertrain, steering) september 2013; however, the part needed was unavailable to perform the repair. the manufacturer was notified. there are no failures at this time.
I am a rural mail carrier. i drive a right hand drive jeep wrangler sport to deliver my mail. my jeep has not driven right in a long time, it pulls to the right and there is play in the steering. my husband has taken it to the local dealership several times and has been told that he needed to get new tires which he got, he was told that he needed to have it realigned which he did. the problem remained and got worse and worse. one of the mechanics told my husband that he needed to check the steering gear box; he did and it was the problem. my husband took it back to the dealership but was told that the steering gearbox was not covered under the 36000 mile warranty, he was told that it was considered normal wear and tear. my husband went round and round with chrysler and they finally agreed to fix it as a goodwill repair plus $150. my jeep was left for service on august 11th and was returned on august 18th. on september 15th at 40084 miles the same problems were back with a vengeance. my husband went by the dealership to make arrangements for them to look at my jeep. that same day as i am on my route the steering gearbox locked up and i almost went into the ditch. i could not turn the steering wheel to the right yet my jeep was going to the right. *tr

2012 jeep wrangler was a "postal vehicle", in that the steering wheel was on the right-hand side of the vehicle. driver error occurred, in that driver was on right shoulder of two lane highway, but pulled out into traffic to perform "a 180" degree turn in order to reverse direction. driver did not properly yield the right-of-way. when entering highway, vehicle was struck by oncoming, speeding car. crash resulted. impact was so severe that female passenger in back seat who was wearing her seat belt was ejected (and killed). seat belt was torn due to force. roof cover was insufficient to stop ejection. male passenger in back seat, also belted, was also killed. injuries to two passengers in front seat. possible defects include the design defects inherent in right-sided steering wheel, and also the seat belt shearing, plus roof cover failure during crash.
This jeep has been difficult to drive since first month purchased. been in shop numerous times, not a few, numerous times for this issue. recently it become totally uncontrollable and could not handle it at all. "death wobble" dealer in which i purchased refuses to back up the issue & left me on my own to fix. when you google "death wobble" which is the term i was given by dealership that i had never heard of, you will find what my jeep had been doing all along. *tr

My 2012 jeep wrangler sahara 2-door with automatic transmission exhibits the following issues: 1) valve train ticking noise. this developed after a few months of ownership (bought november 2011) 2) sluggish acceleration and automatic transmission shifting when vehicle is cold. it does improve as vehicle is warmed up after driving it for 5-10 minutes, and by then the vehicle seems to operate normal. 3) i sometimes feel a thud or vibration coming up from the steering wheel. it almost feels as something is loose in the front-end. this happens sporadically. this started happening just recently. i am going to discuss these issues with the chrysler dealership when i take it for the first oil change. *tr
