Problems with 2010 Jeep Wrangler AIR BAGS

On average, the 2010 Jeep Wrangler starts to “feel” problems with the AIR BAGS and its various aspects after 72 262 miles.

Recently reported AIR BAGS problems on 2010 Jeep Wrangler

The air bag warning light illuminates intermittently. the problem occurs anytime the vehicle is in operation. the dealer performed a diagnosis at my cost and found the clock spring to be defective. since the vehicle has 99355 miles the warranty was declined. the case number was 29098917.

2010 jeep jk - while driving, particularly at low speeds the airbag warning light is constantly flashing or, going on, then off, then on, then off, etc. each time with the sound and warning light. at higher speeds, it mostly stays in warning mode but if the steering wheel is turned at all, it will start to flash. apparently there are recalls on the rhd jeep jk and several other 2007 - 2010 model years. i believe there are several more vehicles involved than what they are claiming and mine should be one of them. i am worried the airbag may not work when it needs to.

Airbag light just came on due to defective clockspring.

Takata recall still waiting. my life is at risk and i'm still waiting. how will the parts be provided if takata has filed chapter 11?

Takata recall - no parts available since may 2016. says death may occur if this ruptures!

While driving the air bag light comes on and goes off multiple times. after diagnosis i found out that the clock spring is at fault and this is a common issue. why hasn't there been a recall? there is a recall for the right hand drive wranglers but no the left hand drive. why is this? this is a safety issue that i think needs to be addressed asap.

Third clock spring replaced.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated sporadically. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician diagnosed that the clock spring was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 73,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. while operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor light was constantly illuminated. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 73,000.

Like many others that i have spoken with, i have seen on forums, and i have seen on sites like this, the air bag light intermittently chimes and lights up indicating that the air bag system has malfunctioned and will not deploy if needed. i previously had a 2008 jeep wrangler, and it had the exact same issue. when i took it into the dealer, they told me that the clock spring required replacement. i have owned 2 wranglers and both of them have had the exact same problem. this is obviously a common issue and i find it hard to believe that my experience with this clock spring issue is coincidence. from what i understand, recalls have been issued for all 2007 models and for all right hand drive models from 2008-2012. i believe that it is imperative for public safety reasons that an investigation be performed to consider requiring jeep to address the remainder of their faulty airbag systems.

Cruise control stopped working a few months ago. today i started getting the airbag warning light flashing on and off. looks like i'll be dropping $500+ for a new clock spring. how is this not already listed as a recall?

Air bag warning light and charm come on, failed clock spring, very common issue on these jeep wranglers, very dangerous as air bag will not deploy in a collision.

The airbag light on dash comes on and off . dealer said no problem with airbag. problem persists.

Airbag dash light and warning chime come on intermittently. code shows - b1b02 - driver airbag squib 1 circuit open. clock spring is suspect, but the horn & cruise control are still functional. this condition happens at all times, whether stationary, moving or turning.

Airbag malfunction indicator light on.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the air bag light illuminated. an independent mechanic diagnosed that the vehicle had a defective clock spring that needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v176000 (air bags); however, the vin was not included. the failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

On the 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. fiat chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. my jeep wrangler has just over 50k miles and both the esp / bas light and the airbag warning light have begun flashing and chiming intermittently. i was told by fiat chrysler that the clock spring on the 2010 (lhd) is not included in the clock spring extended warranty available to other model years and the rhd version on the same model year. the clock spring is the same in all of the affected vehicles and represents a potential threat of serious injury or death should the airbag fail to deploy in an accident or deploy prematurely.

Takata recall, both recalls have yet to be fixed. appointment called in to dealer and they have not scheduled the repairs to this date.

Broken clockspring.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clock spring had failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Tamara recall, airbag light comes on and off, repair shop checked the codes, tells me when the light is on,the airbag is disabled. i checked and found thousand of complaints with same problem. also found recall with right side steering, but none for left side. took to dealership, $700. this defect should be a concern before people get killed. taking this seriously, airbags are useless. once i am driving,it comes on,chimes every couple of minutes.

On my 2010 jeep wrangler dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for my 2010 and many other jeep wrangler (jk version) owners. the cause of this light has been shown time and time again to be a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2008 jeep wrangler during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. jeep has had clockspring recalls previously with their 2007 wranglers, but this recall has not been extended to the 2008- versions. daimler chrysler has refused to voluntarily address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.

On my 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. this is happening when the vehicle is stationary and while in motion either on the highway or city roads. this is caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2010 jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying."

Tamara inflators see where right hand drive has been recalled. took my jeep to dealer, they told me they have seen hundreds with this problem, one dealer. also said my airbags was disabled because of this. i would like to know i am safe after paying this much for a jeep. i only have 64,000 miles on it. dealership said they should be recalled, so many 2010.

My airbag light keeps going on and off every minute while i was driving. i took it in to have it get looked at and the dealership informed me that it was a clock-spring issue. i did some research and selected jeep models from 2007 to 2012 had a recall for this issue. when i contacted crystler on this issue they informed me that my jeep is not part of the recall even though it is the same problem as other jeeps. it is going to cost about $700.00 out of pocket to fix this issue on my jeep.

My airbag lights keep going off and on every minute or so. i called chrysler to see if their was a recall on the clock spring and they said no. the repair is going to cost me $750.00.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. while driving various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 83,237.

The airbag clockspring assemblies needed to be replaced in my left-hand drive jeep wrangler. the jeep wrangler already has a recall for right-hand drive models addressing broken airbag clockspring assemblies. recall number: 13v176000 in the event of a crash necessitating airbag deployment, a broken electrical circuit in the airbag clockspring wiring assembly can lead to non-deployment of the driver-side frontal airbag and will not be able to properly protect the driver, increasing the risk of injuries. in my opinion this is a serious safety risk in the jeep wrangler. i received the warning light while the jeep was in motion, and luckily i was near a jeep dealership (bill bryan chrysler dodge jeep, fruitland park, fl 34731) where i had the broken airbag clockspring assembly replaced to the tune of $500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated and took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clock spring fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

There are recalls already for the issue below for right hand steering vehicles. this recall should be applied to all jeep wrangler vehicles 2007-2012. a broken electrical circuit in the airbag clockspring wiring assembly can lead to non-deployment of the driver frontal airbag and will not be able to properly protect the driver in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injuries. anytime that the steering wheel is moved from neutral/straight position the airbag light will turn on and a chime is heard.

I was driving to work on 10-5-15 when a drunk driver pulled out in front of me, i had no time to stop but when my 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited hit their vehicle, i immediately smelled and saw smoke comming from the engine compartment of my jeep. i drove to the side of the road where i quickly got out and made it just in time because the vehicle quickly burst into flames. my airbags also did not deploy which i thought odd because i was traveling around 45 mph at the time of the accident.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v352000 (air bags) and 16v290000 (air bags). the part had not been supplied from the manufacturer to the dealer for an extended period of time. the contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired by the dealer. the manufacturer was unable to provide a reasonable time frame. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available. parts distribution disconnect.

Airbag light comes on and off when turning steering wheel dealer tells me its the air bag clock spring. when i turn on my blinker to turn left it doesn't turn off since i've bought it. my car has 66,567 miles on it

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that while stopping at a red light, the air bag warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

Airbag light flashes intermittently and chimes apparently this is caused by a defective clock spring that affects a lot of left hand drive jeeps. airbag is disabled when light is on . this is a safety issue.

Air bag warning light began illuminating when driving in straight line, when turning the light turns off until driving straight again. this is a left hand drive vehicle with the same symptoms as the recall placed on right hand drive models of the same year.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the air bag warning light was constantly illuminated. the contact also stated that the horn became inoperable. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the clock spring failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v176000 (air bags). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

Air bag malfunction light came on. all fuses checked no issues, all wiring harnesses checked, no issues, dealership informs it may be clock spring which is not covered under previous recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. the dealer stated that the clock spring assembly needed to be replaced. the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 13v176000 (air bags). the vehicle had not been repaired. the vin and failure mileage were not available.

Air bag light comes on and warning sound goes off intermittently. researched the internet and there are a large number of complaints for the same symptoms. appears to be a defective clock spring for which chrysler issued a recall but only on right hand drives. contacted chrysler and they don't believe it is an issue. i'm concerned that my air bag will not deploy in the event of a crash. if this is an issue in right hand drives, not sure why it would not apply to all. they do use the same clock spring.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that the air bag light would illuminate intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and it was determined that the clock spring needed to be replaced. the contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign number: 13v176000 (air bags); however, the vehicle was not included. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown. the vin was not available.

On the 2010 jeep wrangler (jku) dashboard, the airbag warning light, abs, esp and traction control lights flash on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags.this has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2010 jeep wrangler (jku) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. this faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2010 jeep wrangler (jku) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. daimler chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. *tr

The dashboard airbag light comes on and off intermittently while driving. it is uncertain whether the airbag will deploy, if it is needed. the occurrence of the airbag light seems to be related to steering wheel turns, and the light comes on and off frequently while driving around town, sometimes 8-10 times per minute. there was no incident that precipitated this defect, it simply started one day, and has continued non-stop since that first time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 jeep wrangler. when the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. also, the horn did not sound when it was pressed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tipm and the clock spring malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000. updated 05/11/16*lj *tr

I have been getting radom warning chimed and an air bag warning light when turning the steering wheel while cornering. now it is almost always on and needs to be fixed before next inspection is due. its a clockspring failure in the steering column, a problem common to the current wranglers from 07-2014. there has already been a recall for the rhd models for the same thing but not lhd jeeps. this is my second failure,my 2007 had the same problems as my 2010. its time for jeep to offer a recall and replace this part of the airbag system.

Airbag light on my 2010 jeep wrangler turns on and off especially when i turn. not sure if the airbag will function in the event of an accident. from what i'm reading it sounds like a bad clockspring. *tr

While driving the jeep the airbag warning light came on with the warning chime. the light continued to go on and off intermittently and the chime sounded. i took the jeep to the local dealer who i bought it from and they determined it was a faulty clock spring in the steering column. i researched this issue on line and learned that this is a common problem on this model of jeep. right hand drive models have been recalled for this issue and the clock springs replaced, but there is no such recall for the left hand drive vehicles. the on line information indicated that this issue could cause the airbag to not deploy in an accident, so i had it replaced by the dealer at my expense. this issue should be addressed by chrysler and owners who've had their clock springs replaced for this issue should be reimbursed for their expense. *tr

Driving 25mph in the city. came to a stop. turned left and the airbag light came on. the rest of the drive the light would come on and off when making left or right turns. i know the symptoms from other owners and it seems to be the clock spring. *tr
