Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep wrangler. when attempting to add fuel to the vehicle, the contact noticed that it would spill out onto his clothing similar to nhtsa campaign id number: 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). the dealer advised the contact to replace the fuel tank. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was approximately 24,000 and the failure mileage was 22,500.

2005 jeep wrangler x, fuel overfills every time i fill up. the tank does not allow the pump to shut off automatically. happens at every different gas station and with every tank. not an isolated incident. *tr

2005 jeep wrangler unlimited overflows fuel every time at the pump. does not matter if i hold it, or if it is on automatic hold. always overflows. sometimes sprays out of the holes on the vapor lock. dealer wants to charge me $1200 to replace fuel tank. chrysler tsb on 2007-08, but not other years. please investigate the totality of this problem. *tr

Every time i fill up at the gas station fuel gushes out everywhere after the pump shuts off automatically.

When filling up the gas tank, the tank seems to have a venting or pressure problem. when the tank is being filled, gasoline shoots out of the tank violently as it approaches full. *tr

Everytime i fill up my vehicle the nozzle doesn't kick off, gas pours out the filler neck, gas is expensive these days to just pour it on the ground and bad for the environment, i try to not let it happen but still it does, i feel that jeep should bring out a recall on this. i cant fill my vehicle up all the way as i like to be able to. the fender flare is discolored because of the gas spilling out on to it and then i have to go and get the gas off my hands and shoes when i shouldn't have to. i know there are more problems other than mine as you can go to http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f176/have-fuel-spill-problems-like-many-us-submit-complaint-force-recall-974337/ and see many on there has had this problem aswell and have videos of this happening. im just afraid that static electricity my spark on it at the time this happens and causes a big mess. please help me and others make jeep send out a recall on this. my vehicle is completely stock no modifications has been done to it to alter the way gas goes into the tank. thank you for your time. *tr

When filling up the fuel tank on my 2005 jeep wrangler it will not shut off. it sprays gas all over. this is unsafe. its a fire hazard. it spills gas into the environment. its costs me money(gas ain't cheap). it is gonna ruin the paint around the filler neck. jeep refuses to fix the problem under recall. it is happening on many years and models of jeeps. this is far from an isolated incident. the problem is related to the rollover vent valve. gasoline is serious stuff. it should be treated as such. it happens almost every time i fill up my tank. jeep wants to charge their customers to replace the whole fuel system. i cant pay that bill, it is way too costly. *tr

Fuel overflows when filling at the pump. i have a 19 gallon tank and at around 15 gallons the handle releases and gas spews all over the place. talked to manassas va jeep and they said there was nothing they could do. *tr

2005 jeep wrangler ejects gasoline at every fill-up. after the pump clicks the vehicle filler neck shoots out a considerable amount of fuel (aprox 1cup +). on a windy day about a month ago, the fuel came out with enough force to go all over the vehicle, me, and onto my face. the problem is consistent and causes a substantial amount of fuel to spill out at every fill-up. *tr

Each time i put fuel in my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited fuel splashes out covering the filler cap, the side of the vehicle, and whatever is nearby. i do not "top off" the tank. it does it on the first shutoff click of the nozzle. *tr

While filling the fuel tank fuel gushes out of the filler neck instead of the nozzle shutting off. fuel spills all over the side of the vehicle and on the ground. *tr

When i fill up my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited it spits gas all over, alot of it. this is a safety hazard! its horrible for the environment too. jeep wont recall the problem. they are ignoring the problem. help us out, please. thx *tr

Gas overflows from the fill point every time i refuel, regardless of gas station used or fill speed. this presents a fire and health hazard to the person refueling. *tr

When fuel tank is nearing the "full" level the fuel tank spews out excess fuel when filling tank spraying me if i am standing anywhere near the vehicle.. this happens on every fill up. i understand this is a well documented problem with jeep vehicles. *tr

Fuel tank overflows every time i fill up. gas spills on the ground. it happens at all the gas stations i visit in multiple states, including texas, arkansas, missouri, illinois and indiana. *tr

2005 jeep wrangler unlimited has developed a faulty rollover valve in the gas tank causing fuel spills when refueling. chrysler denies warranty claims stating this is normal wear. however, this is an extreme safety hazard - fumes and potential for fires and explosion as well as harmful to the environment. *tr

Gasoline pours out every single time i fully fill it up. it happens on every wrangler since 2003. *tr

1- every time i fill up my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited it overfills. 2- it happens all the time! every time i fill up. it overfills. to the point where i just stop it when it reaches 18 gallons. 3- my jeep is out of warranty, my dealer will not correct the problem with out me paying for mistake done by chrysler. i really question my safety. and the safety of my vehicle. *tr

2005 jeep wrangler has fuel spillover about 9 out of 10 times i fill up the gas tank whether or not i "hand pump" the fuel. there have been no modifications made to this vehicle. this problem has been occurring since november 2009. fuel spills down the side of the vehicle, sometimes on me (oh, and i'm pregnant), and on the ground. various approaches to filling the tank have been made, but nothing seems to alleviate the problem. *tr

I drive a 2005 jeep wrangler sport with a 4.0 liter engine, every time i fill up, the gas tank shoots gas out of the tank, spilling it onto the ground. *tr

Every time i fill my jeep with gasoline, at the end of filling the tank, gas will come up out of the tank, through the gas hole and spill on the floor. this could cause a potential fire. *tr

When filing gas tank, gas does not shut off before overfilling and causing a spillage on ground at gas pumps. always runs out and is damaging paint around filler hole. *tr

When filling up the vehicle with gasoline, when the pump cuts off gasoline spurts out all over the side of the vehicle and the ground and sometimes over the person filling the tank. this happens whether the nozzle is being held and squeezed by the person filling or is locked in position for handsfree filling. it has happened consistently with fillups for the past 4-5 months no matter which gas station is used.

The gas tank of my 2005 jeep rubicon overflows every time i refuel, because it does not shut off the gas when the tank is full. this has been a recurring problem cited by many other jeep owners (as chrysler must be aware). this malfunction is dangerous, wasteful, and environmentally damaging. please live up to the reputation that jeep owners appreciate and respect regarding our jeeps. quality and reliability are important to us--or we would not buy jeep vehicles. devoted jeep owners shouldn't have to beg for assistance to rectify a design flaw. *tr

My 2005 jeep wrangler always overflows when i fill it up. the fuel fills the filler neck and overflows. *tr updated 12/07/11 *bf

The vehicle gas filler tube over flows nearly every fill up. gas spills out onto the jeep and onto the ground. *js

2005 jeep wrangler, fuel overfills every time i go to the pump. when the fuel pump auto stops about a quart of fuel shoots out of the vehicle filler tube. the fuel has splashed all over the vehicle, and my clothes. this occurs on the first auto shut-off and is not due to topping-off the tank. this is a common problem on the jeep wrangler and is well documented on the internet. *tr

At the 65k mile mark everytime i fill up the gas will overflow and spill out of the filler tube. from the research i have done there are alot of tj owners that this is happening to. it is a safety problem because if i have the top off my 3 year old son sides right above the fuel filler tube and gas could splash onto him. *tr

Fuel overflows and spills all over the exterior, ground and sometimes my shoes every time i fill my gas tank. i know this is an extremely common issue, and am hoping for a recall. thanks!!! *tr

Every time i attempt to fill my 2005 jeep wrangler's tank to full, gas spills out of the fuel tube after the pump shuts off automatically. this is at least 8oz of fuel easily gushing out and is a fire hazard. i am the second owner, and have only owned it since 7/31/10. i have filled the tank 4 times and all 4 times this has occurred. a google search revealed a wrangler forum where countless jeep owners are experiencing the same issue, chrysler will not issue a recall even though they have paid for numerous gas tanks to be replaced. i have not called chrysler yet, because i already know the runaround i will encounter based on other's experience, and am waiting until i have some time off next week to devote to this frustrating phone call. *tr

The fuel always spews out of the tank when allowing the automatic shutoff of the gas pump. it happens with every gas station i use. i would estimate about 1 to 2 cups of fuel spill out and onto the ground each time i fill up. i have been informed this is an issue that involves a faulty valve in the wrangler gas tank. jeep needs to take ownership of this issue. *tr

My 2005 jeep wrangler spills gas from the fill pipe everytime it is filled up. im not topping it off. it does this everytime from the first shutoff. its not the nozzle as this happens at all different gas stations. i found on jeep forum this seems to be a common problem with all wranglers. this can be a safety concern as a fire could happen or skin irritation can occur as sometimes i get splashed with fuel. *tr

During fueling, when the fuel pump nozzle automatically stops the flow of gasoline , fuel surges back through the filler tube and vigorously splashes out on the side of the vehicle and anything or person within 2 to 3 feet of the fuel filler. this occurs every time the fuel tank is filled. it has spilled fuel on every fill up (at least one cup), despite precautions (slowing filling rate). manufacturer and dealer have done nothing to correct this problem, this happens every time i fill up.

Fuel overflow on 2005 jeep wrangler. i have done lots of research on this and it seems that the only solution is to replace the gas tank. it has happened to many people with similar model jeeps. *tr

Fuel sprays out and runs over side of fuel inlet when tank has filled. this happens on 100% of fillups, eliminating a defective pump nozzle from possible causes. spilled fuel can be anywhere from a few tablespoons to half a liter. *tr

Over flowing fuel filler tube when putting in gas. *tr

I bought my 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon march 1st, 2010. i bought it used. every time i have filled the tank at a gas station, it overflows. the only fix is to not fill it up, but i live in new jersey, and gas station attendants pump our gas and they don't know how to not do it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep wrangler. while the contact added fuel to the gasoline tank he noticed that it spilled back out. the vehicle will be taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer will be notified. the failure mileage was 66,000 and the current mileage was 67,493.

2005 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon fuel tank overflows 80% of the time i fill up. once, it kept running without stopping and spilling 5-10 gallons. this caused me to slip in the gas resulting in whiplash which i am still having to address 2 months later. this is a major fire hazard, safety hazard, environmental concern and monetary problem and jeep/chrysler needs to own up to the problem and issue a recall. if not, the government needs to force the issue. *tr

Gas overflows and spills out on every fuel fill-up attempt.

When filling the vehicle's fuel tank, fuel splashes out of the tank and covers the side of the jeep and the ground below. this happens with every fill up. *tr

My jeep wrangler spills gas from the fill pipe everytime it is filled up. im not topping it off. it does this everytime from the first shutoff. its not the nozzle as this happens at all different gas stations. i found on jeep forum this seems to be a common problem with all wranglers. this can be a safety concern as a fire could happen or skin irritation can occur as sometimes i get splashed with fuel. *tr

Gas tank overflows everytime i fill my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited with fuel. i have not taken any corrective action to prevent this from happening. *tr

My jeep's gas filler overflows every time i fill the tank with gas. no matter what gas station i go to or if i fill it slowly or fast. *tr

When fueling vehicle gas splashes out of fuel filler intake. this happens on just about every fill up. it doesn't appear to make any difference if you fill up slowly or at normal fill speed. gasoline spilling on the side of the vehicle and spilling onto the ground can't be a safe thing.

Every time i fill my jeep up with gas it over flows. it does not matter what gas station i go to, or how slowly i fill the tank. gasoline spills out onto the ground every single time. *tr

I own a 2005 jeep wrangler. i purchased the jeep new. for about 8-12 months now when i am pumping my gas the gas overflows instead of shutting off when the tank is full. i have to try to guess when the tank is almost full and stop pumping so the gas does not spill out all over me. i have had it pour all over my legs and shoes. *tr

Fuel spills/splashes out with every fill-up. nozzle position or rate of fill does not change result. have only ever used regular unleaded fuel, 87 grade w/ 10% or less ethanol. approximately 1 cup of fuel ends up on the ground, the body of the jeep, shoes, pants, and/or hands every single time. this is an environmental and health hazard.

Fuel splashes back after the tank fills and the pump shuts off.
