Received a safety recall in december of 2013 . contacted local dealer and was told part was not available. i believe areasonable amount of time has passed(almost 3 months) .i contacted local dealer again today and they say chrysler has not released part at this time. how long does it take ? recall notice states that chrysler intends to inspect my vehicle and install an oem trailer hitch where appropriate. *tr

Contacted the chrysler dealer in hendersonville, nc, egolf motors 888 810 1729 and chrysler corp 800 853 1403...no one can provide correction info date. both told me they do not know when parts will be available and/or correction made, the recall notice was received in mid-september 2013 and no progress yet. spoke with a nhtsa rep, [xxx], who was helpful, kind, thrifty, etc and hopefully your report to chrysler has them quaking in their boots and a repair will be scheduled and completed by the end of the day. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I received a recall notice approximately 6 months ago that the fuel tank could leak during certain types of rear end collisions. i was notified that chrysler would install a rear trailer hitch to manage crash forces in low-speed impacts. the recall stated that this inspection and install would occur when parts were available. i still have not received the inspection or follow up letter. *tr

Had recall notice for installing a trailer hitch. took to midway jeep in kearney ne. on february 3 2014 and they told me that they had to order a hitch. as of today may 5,2014, i still don't have a hitch installed.

Received recall notice on 1/7-2014.called local chrysler dealer numerous time since jan. they keep telling me that chrysler has yet to come up with the remedy. i would think that anything that has to do with a leaky fuel tank, would get high priority. why don't the nhtsa look into what is going on thanks *tr

This started aprox 3 years ago. when filling the gas tank to full, the pump would kick off and then gas would always spit back and overflow on to the ground (scary) to avoid this, i stopped filling the tank to full and only to 3/4 full and the problem stopped. but now, i can't add fuel without gas shooting back all over the place even when the tank has low fuel. the only way fuel can be added without getting drenched in gas, is to find a pump that you can feather the on/off handle to run slow enough so it's barely adding fuel, then it will not back up. it takes at least 20 minutes at the pump to add 10 gallons of gas. unfortunately i gave this vehicle to my 20 year old daughter and she is scared to add fuel so i have to do it. also, i've had to replace the clock spring and the "gas cap" light never shuts off. i took it to the dealer for clock spring issues and the part was not available so she drove it for months with the warning lights on and the part is still not available but the lights have now shut off.... the gas cap warning could not be fixed by the dealer so that stays on all the time. but this fueling problem is a serious issue. *tr

The nhtsa safety recall of my jeep liberty to repair a deadly defect with the placement of the fuel tank has not yet been repaired by chrysler. they informed me of the recall in december, 2013, but the dealer (jim riehl's friendly chrysler jeep in warren, mi) told me they didn't have the part yet. when i called that same establishment on march 3, 2014 to schedule the important safety repair, i was given the same response - they didn't have the part in stock yet. today i just received a mailing from jim riehl's friendly jeep in warren mi which states:"recall notice. as of december 12, 2013, this vehicle has the following incomplete recalls/customer satisfaction notices: n46 (n46 / nhtsa 13v-252) please contact us to schedule an appointment. recall/customer satisfaction notice repairs will be performed free." when i called russ in service at that same friendly jeep today, may 28, 2014 - - part not yet in stock. the statement about the recall repair is fraudulent - the mailing contained two coupons for vehicle maintenance. when will you stop this farce and force chrysler to stop endangering their customers and repair their deadly defect? *tr

My complaint is actually about nhtsa! in june of 2013, nhtsa petitioned chrysler to recall (recall number n46) jeep liberty vehicles including model years 2002 - 2007. according to chrysler customer service, my 2006 jeep liberty is included. apparently, there is a risk of fuel tank puncture, and subsequent fire in the case of rear-end collision. chrysler, after initially refusing to issue the recall, caved in to nhtsa pressure. when i spoke with chrysler today, five months after they agreed to the recall, they indicated that they are waiting on nhtsa reviews and approval of chrysler's recall proposal to install a trailer hitch in under-equipped vehicles, in order to strengthen the rear end of the vehicle and prevent gas tank punctures in the event of a low-speed rear-end collision. it seems counter intuitive that nhtsa would pressure a manufacturer to issue a recall, and then hold up the process of repairing affected vehicles when the manufacturer finally agrees. if this alleged vehicle defect actually presents a safety hazard, why allow five months to pass without action? *tr

Have not been able to fill up my gas tank completely since this past fall. i purchased this vehicle august 2013 from an authorized chrysler/jeep dealership. please note that this is not user error at the gas pump. i have owned at least a few different cars and understand how to use a gas pump. i've filled the jeep liberty at least a dozen different gas stations and it does it every time and the gas sensor at the pump will not shut off. i have had no choice but to have westbury jeep service center on january 15,2013 to look at the vehicle since the gas overflow is a potential hazard. *tr

This has been happening for some time. when i fill up, the gas tanks gushes out gas when it is full. this happens almost every time that i fill up with gas. it seems extremely dangerous as there is enough fuel that spills on to the ground below the jeep. i have replaced every regulator in my jeep's windows. they go out all of the time. the last one went out while driving and the window crashed down and scared me to death. *tr

There was a recall on my jeep liberty issued october of 2013. it is now july 2014 and i still have not received my "follow up" letter. i spoke with my dealer on many occasions and the remedy parts are still not available. the following is an excerpt from the notice sent to me. this is a serious situation and if i am rear ended, my car could explode. waiting almost 1 year after a recall is unacceptable. "the problem is... the fuel tank on your vehicle has a small chance of experiencing a fuel leak during certain types of rear end collisions. fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in an underbody fire. what your dealer will do? chrysler intends to inspect your vehicle and install an original equipment manufacturer (oem) trailer hitch where appropriate, free of charge (parts and labor) to better manage crash forces in low-speed impacts. the parts required for this program are currently not available. chrysler is making all reasonable efforts to obtain the parts as quickly as possible. chrysler will contact you again by mail, with a follow-up notice, when the remedy parts are available". *tr

I am asking for help in getting my 2006 jeep liberty safety defect taken care of by the local dealer. it is a known fact that the tank location on this type vehicle is dangerous if car is hit from behind. i have tried calling and writing to perkins chrysler without any response to date. i feel that corporate greed is trumping my safety. can you offer any help? *tr

Fuel gushes out of tank when filling, splashing gas all over operator, vehicle, and ground. a lot of gas splashes, enough to be very dangerous. even not ignited gas on the ground can be slippery and cause a fall. this is extremely unsafe, a fire and explosion hazard, unhealthy, an environmental hazard and a waste of valuable resources. there is no way to avoid the occurrence as it is not related to the speed of filling or whether or not you have the nozzle handle locked (most stations here have removed the locks anyway). *tr

I purchased a 2006 jeep liberty summer of 2013 and the first time i filled it up, the fuel overflowed onto the back fender and onto the ground. i have experienced this numerous times when attempting to fill the tank fully. it results in a mess at best and a fire hazard at worst. this appears to be a known issue, yet has not been addressed for resolution. i would say this is definitely a safety hazard and risk. please consider action. *tr

Have called several times to chrysler (800)247-9753 in reference to the rear end bumper recall on jeep libertys campaign # 46 according to representatives, stated owners should be receiving a letter in the mail end of september 2013. haven't received any letter addressing recall, called again today 10/19/2013 appx. mtn. standard time 11:48am , stated they are awaiting approval from nhts before any letters are sent to owners in reference to the recall of rear end bumper causing fire hazard issues, whereas they should be attaching a hitch to make vehicle safer for passengers and driver in case of rear end collision so vehicle not bursting into flames. *tr

I received a recall letter in 2013 recall number n46 and nhtsa campaign number 13v-252. i have not received further notification to take my jeep in to be repaired. i called my local dealer who said they have not received any information or parts to repair our jeeps. this is a safety issue....why has it taken a year to get the parts to the dealers to fix our jeeps? when filling the vehicle with gas, the pump's handle will suddenly and forcibly stop (as though the tank were full) and gasoline will spit out of the fuel opening, despite the fact it is gallons away from being filled to full capacity. this happens with every different gas station's pump handles, so to be clear, it is not an issue with the pump or handle, or the individual's ability to pump gas correctly; it is an issue with the gas line of this vehicle and the indicator or regulator or whatever part is defective. *tr

This was the first time that we had filled the tank up on our 2006 jeep liberty since we purchased it on june 7, 2013. while standing at the pump waiting for the tank to fill up, the tank started overflowing with gas. i had gas all over me, the car, and the ground. i wrote it off as being a problem with the pump. 1 week later i go to a different pump to fill it up, and it happens again. so i called the dealership that services my vehicles and explained the problem and we took it in for them to look at. they said that this is a common problem but jeep will not fix the issue. i started looking on jeep forums and have found quite a few instances of this same problem on the jeep liberty and these people have also filed claims to the nhtsa. the only way for the problem to be fixed is for the tank to be replaced because there is a check valve in the tank that is causing this. this is a very costly repair as i have called a couple of dealerships around in the are with the tank alone costing over $1,400 dollars. this is a known issue that jeep refuses to fix. it is a safety issue due to a manufacturing defect. *tr

Received important safety recall n46/nhtsa 13v-252 about a year ago. have inquired with the dealer several times and not getting anywhere with the inspection of oem trailer hitch. they keep telling me that parts not available yet. i am very concerned about rear end collision and fuel leakage. *tr

Vehicle overflows when being filled. on 6 may vehicle was taken to dealer for correction. dealer replace evap nvld and canister ($446.00). problem not solved. taken back to dealer, still not repaired. called chrysler(1-800-853-1403) and was informed no problems reported. checked on internet and individuals are having same problem. sounds like a problem that should be fixed due to a fire hazard and not have customer pay. *tr
