Recently reported STEERING problems on 2005 Jeep Liberty

When i turn sharply both left and right the car stops, the wheels are hitting some bar under the vehicle.

This has to do with recall f23 front lower ball joints. by jeeps web site the work was done, but on feb 6th of this year the front end failed just as i left my parking space. a few minutes later i would been on nj 295 traveling at 65 mph. i did not know there was an older recall on this car, i had the work done by an outside shop, see attached bill.

Lower ball joint on both sides of vehicle have broken, after they were reported to have been replaced under a previous recall. the break caused damage also to the tires and caused the vehicle to lose control of the steering. vehicle was in motion when the failure occurred

Constant grinding, squeaking with movement of steering wheel, was told it was ball joint and arm, also there was a recall about this...happens when driving.....was there a recall regarding this?

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. while driving 21 mph, the contact heard an abnormal clunking noise and the steering failed without warning. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer (hill-kelly dodge, chrysler, jeep, ram located at 6171 pensacola blvd pensacola, fl 32505) where it was diagnosed that the lower ball joint and lower suspension needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer assistance. the failure mileage was 156,623.

Lower front right ball joint snapped while i was driving. called jeep and they said it was recalled and replaced. i asked for a location and a service order and the would not give it to me. they keep telling me to take it to the jeep dealer which i cant because it is broke. these ball joints where recalled for breaking. now for a second time it broke and i cant get any proof that it was ever replaced

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. while driving at approximately 20 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. the contact stated that the steering wheel was very difficult to maneuver. the contact discovered that the rear suspension arm fractured on the ground. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

This is a safety complaint on a 2005 jeep liberty complaint for the 3 recalls. ball joints, trailer hitch and control arms. on this day i brought my vehicle to transitowne in williamsville, ny for the recalls, i never received the ball joint recall previously. my vehicle was safe, no noise, no problems and was currently in mint condition mechanically and otherwise. i dropped it off thursday night 5/7/2015 to be worked on 7/8/2015. they called the morning of 7/8/2015 to say the vehicle was complete. as i drove home the wheel shakes and front end makes noise while braking and sounds loose. i immediately returned it, they were rude and after my obvious frustration finally decided to take a test drive. when sal, the service coordinator came back and actually admitted (with a witness) i was one in a million that received bad ball joints but that they don't have any more i would have to wait. i explained when braking something is rubbing, steering is shaky and makes a clunk noise from ball joints. they let me drive away with a vehicle that is unsafe. loose ball joints with any play in them can result in an accident. they offered no rental, no help and ignore me. i have my own business (sole) and cannot drive it, i don't trust it and it cannot be driven to kayaking. my entire weekend was ruined not to mention i cannot drive a noisy, dangerous vehicle. they did not replace the trailer hitch even though it's 10 years old (i put it on myself) did not come with the jeep, and it's welds are rusty and brittle, they did not care about that either. chrysler case # 26946712. i feel like nobody cares about my problem, it can't be legal for a dealership to send drivers home with vehicles that have loose ball joints and tell them it's safe, they have no idea where i go and drive with my vehicle, it's construction season and one pothole on the thruway could kill me.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from the power steering pump. there was also fluid leaking and the pressurized hoses were rubbing together. the failure recurred on multiple occasions and the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate mileage was 96,000. the vin was not available.

Making a left turn onto a major route at 30 mph when all of a sudden the vehicle takes off on it's own and begins to swerve picking up speed while both my feet are off of the pedals. it hits one concrete wall on a bridge and proceeds to cross yellow line picking up more speed before smashing straight into other concrete wall. it's the only thing that stopped this vehicle from continuing on. air bags went off and split expelling strange odor. a jeep dealer commented that either a sensor went or accelerator pedal had stuck. i could not straighten the vehicle out by steering at all.

I had turned into the parking lot and the lower ball joint on the passenger side had broke. i had this taken care of by a non jeep dealer due to short on funds to have it done by a jeep dealer, at the time this happened did not know jeep would have covered the cost of the repairs since this issue was a recall issue that had been fix back in 2007. this jeep i had purchased used in dec 2013. i had called jeep corp to check on recalls after i had first purchased. found things were fixed but was not told there was a 10 year warranty on that work that was done back in 2007 by the previous owner. if i would have know that at the time i had this issue again on july 26 2014 i would have taken it to the jeep dealer, but because i did not have a lot of money i had it fixed by another auto repair service. i would like to be reimbursed for the cost at 534.40 i had to pay in july 2014 for issues with the same that were recalled and fixed back in 2007. i had called today to find out what i could do and was told nothing now since i had it fixed by a non jeep dealer. i really think it should be reimbursed do to the fact i had to have this fixed after it was recall and fixed by a jeep dealer and it still broke. i have the receipt for the repairs that were done july 2014. *tr

I was coming home the day before the holiday. it was a busy day around 4:30 pm. i began heading down the heel and the car just turned off. i was unable to restart, steer, brake or control any aspect of the car. unfortunately when the car stopped, it threw me forward into the dash. fortunately, the gentleman that was in front of me saw me waving and yelling i couldn't stop and risked his life by pulling in front of the oncoming traffic to allow my car to continue soaring down the hill. once i reached the bottom of the hill, my vehicle came to rest between two lanes of a four lane road. mind you this road has hills coming from both ways. fortunately again, a tow truck driver came along and stopped traffic until he could safely tow me into my driveway (free of charge). when i tried starting the vehicle again it ran like it was about to blow up and rattled something terrible. i contacted chevrolet and they explained that they had never heard of any such situation regarding my type of vehicle. however, as the stories began spilling into the media, it was like reliving that moment over and over again, but unfortunately for some their situation didn't turn out as well. how long will this major motor company be able to risk human lives just to make a profit. why don't they just admit that they used defective parts to make a big profit and it has now back fired. *tr

When driving faster than 15 mph, when i would take my foot off the accelerator or brake, the car would swerve violently and randomly to the right or the left even though i was not turning the steering wheel. this is the exact same issue in nhtsa campaign number: 12v085000, but my vehicle was not included in this recall. *tr

Vehicle was involved in a crash with a light pole and small tree. driver was forced to the right side of the road to avoid a head on crash with another vehicle. two of the front bumper sensors were hit, but the air bags failed to deploy. the drive hit the steering column that had broken off with her sternum, and the passenger hit the windshield. there was a question involving the seat belts not holding either of the individuals in place. the 2005 jeep had several recalls, and many shop bulletins of part failures on file though this one was checked by the dealer and certified as ok...updated 09-18-13 *bf updated *jb

While driving noticed driving wheels sloppy. there is to bolts in front frame connected to steering, when turn wheels one side stays and rest pivots as need to turn steering. on other side bolt and whole bolt and mechanism pivots and makes a grinding noise. makes a popping sound as well. have noticed recently that if hit a bump steering get very shaky.

Failure of steering column rod to actuate ignition sense switch caused vehicle no start and driver stranded. rod goes between key cylinder and ignition switch. key can still be turned, but if ignition switch does not actuate engine does not start. there are no dealer serviceable components in steering column. this leads to the entire steering column needing replacement for the failure of a 3mm aluminum cast rod. dealer estimate of $1200 for repair. pictures are available. *tr

This is the second incident on the same vehicle with the right front wheel falling off due to the five studs being sheared off. first incident was @ 104104mi and second at 152212mi. all mileage is highway mileage on the 4x4. no of-road rough treatment. *tr

On a rainy morning on 11/13/2012 while merging onto the interstate my jeep liberty went into a skid and i lost control of the vehicle and hit the roadside barrier. the front and back bumpers were damaged. the problem was not the skid but that the steering wheel locked in place and could not be steered to help control the truck. this had happened at least twice before when the truck went into a skid. my husband had asked our local service dealer about it and he said that this was part of the jeep suspension and was not a defect in the vehicle operation. based on that inquiry, i thought the first time this happened, that maybe it was just a fluke. however, now i am not so sure. i do not believe that the steering column on a vehicle should locked in place and not allow the vehicle to be controlled. additionally, i have been waiting eight months for my local jeep dealer to get the part for the latest safety recall, l27/nhtsa 12v-085 rear suspension lower control arms. we checked last month and the service department stated that we were still number two on the list and when they got the repair part we would get the repair part. we have been told since may 2012 that we were number two on the repair list. i need answers on why my steering wheel does this or i need to get rid of this vehicle because if this happens again i might have very different results than the past two times. *tr

2005 jeep liberty. consumer states vehicle stopped while driving and caught fire. *tgw the consumer stated the vehicle was parked when it caught on fire. according to the fire department, the fire may have started in the steering column. the consumer stated a recall was issued for the previous model and she believed that same issue may have applied to her vehicle as well.

My jeep recently was unable to start the engine. it was fine just the night before with no indication of a problem, but in the morning i turned the key and all i got was a click at the relay; the starter never engaged and the engine would not turn over. after much diagnosis it was discovered the problem was due to the end breaking off of a small metal cylinder which rotates to engage the starter; the cylinder is located on the left underside of the steering column. i was informed by the mechanic that the cylinder, nor the housing containing the cylinder, is sold as a separate part... i was forced to replace the entire steering column assembly to the tune of $300 (the labor was another $200, and a new ignition cylinder an additional $30), to fix this one small part that probably cost about $5 to make. in my research online, i found that this is a common, well-known problem with jeeps, with many people complaining on forums about the same issue. the only action i knew to take was to file a complaint here to hopefully initiate a recall of this part so that it either a) is replaced with a part made of better material so as to stop so many from breaking, and b) stops leaving people stranded with a non-working vehicle with no warning whatsoever. *js

Late night i had stopped at a traffic light and had begun to move when i heard a noise coming from the back end of the jeep. i was then driving at about 30 - 35 mph when the backend started to "slide" out like i was on ice. since there was no ice i pulled over to check it out with a flashlight. i checked the wheels, put the hazard lights on, and since i was pretty close to home i drove between 10 - 15 mph. today i found out the one of the control arms was so rusted that it broke and the other was rusted badly where it was welded. nothing else on the bottom of the jeep looked so rusted and i take good care to get the under body washed often in the winter. the arms looked like they had been sitting in a junk yard for 20 years or so, they were that bad! we called the local jeep dealer to ask about a warranty or even a recall but were informed there was neither. she gave us a number to call at chrysler which we did immediately. we were told the same thing there but they gave us a case number. i did find an article on the internet from sept. 20, 2011 that said there were at least 11 complaints of the same problem and that it was being investigated by nhtsa. i was lucky enough that i wasn't driving on the freeway 70 + mph since i usually leave for arizona this week. since there may be other jeep owners out there unaware that this could happen, i decided to make this complaint. i think that this is excessive rust on a vehicle only 7 years old. even though there was no accident or a death, please take this complaint seriously. i do have some really good pictures of the parts before they were removed from the jeep if you need them. *tr

When driving over metal plates or small patches of ice front wheels lock and make steering impossible if brakes are being applied. this is happening at very low speed. i bought this jeep used. *tr

I was on my way home from my job early and i had noticed a funny grinding sound when i pulled out of my parking space. i got out, checked around the truck and saw nothing. i then drove home about 7 miles from my house my car had began going right then left and i was unable to steer it at all. i was fortunate that i was not going fast and i was able to stop and pull into a parking lot. i would have crashed if this had happened minutes before when i was on the interstate. i had my car towed to the nearest garage and learned that the rear suspension control arms had both completely rusted through and the only thing keeping my jeeps rear end together was a sway bar. the mechanic says he had never seen anything like it. i have contacted chrysler also. i purchased the car in connecticut. *tr

My jeep is making winding and grinding noises. i thought that it was the ball joints which chrysler eventually agreed to replace since it is considered a repeat recall for them but the noise, vibration and shimmy in the steering has persisted and the service dept. at the dealer informed me that i also need control arms and sway bar links. the service rep told me that it was not considered to be normal wear and tear. i contacted chrysler and the person assigned to my case told me he would get back to me to follow up. days later when i finally tracked him down in between his breaks and phone calls he told me that the dealer told him that it was just normal wear and tear. i haven't taken my car off road and it hasn't been in the snow or on salty roads. the last time that i tried to reach him i was told that he did not work on wednesdays. still no response from chrysler from anyone regarding whether or not its a safety concern that they will cover or assist with. i updated my case with the info that i would add to your ongoing investigation if i did not receive an update regarding assistance from them. the jeep is 5 yrs. old and is still making a horrible noise on the front driver's side and i cannot get a response of any kind from chrysler. i have a power train warranty in effect until the end of november. please let me know if you can assist with expediting this matter with chrysler since i do not feel safe driving the jeep in this condition. originally, i was told by my case manager that everything including the control arms and sway bar links would be replaced along with the ball joints but now i'm being told that it was a miscommunication because its normal wear and tear. I cannot control my vehicle while driving on the highway. the steering column seems to be very loose and the jeep shimmies. it seems that when you reach maybe 50 mph the back end seems to pull to the right while you are trying to drive straight. causing alot of shaking and pulling going on. a very unsteady ride. and noticed when trying to stop at the fast pace the front end wants to go to the left while the back end wants to go to the right. very scary driving conditions. took it to the jeep dealer last year and they told me that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, that jeeps have alot of play in the steering. but when i noticed that when i go over a bump a loud clanking noise happens i decided to look on line to see what the problem could be and i saw that there was a recall on ball joints, so i thought it could be that. i took it into the dealership yesterday and they told me that there was something wrong, described exactly what i was dealing with and told me that they would find out. to my dismay, they said it was my rear lowe control arms that needed to be replaced and would charge me over 600 to fix. now finding out that others are having the same issue and some have resulted in a wreck. something needs to be done regarding this issue before someone loses their lives. *tr

In a clear sunny day i was entering the freeway when i heard a big bang on my lower end front of my jeep liberty. there was nothing in the road that could have damaged it. the road was clear of any debris. after a couple of years taking it in into my jeep dealership they could find nothing wrong with it. finally not third but forth was a charm when they told me the lower front arms and bushing needed replacing. i have heard from many jeep owners that they have had the same problems i want to know why these parts have not been recalled. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that when driving over 45 mph, the vehicle would start to wobble uncontrollably. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the issue who offered no assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 107,989. updated 08-03-12 *bf updated 8/31/2012 *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. the vehicle was then towed to a local mechanic where he was advised that the ignition switch and steering column would need to be replaced. there was no electrical current passing through the starter and the mechanic advised that there were aluminum pieces that fractured in the steering column and caused the failure. the vehicle was not repaired because the parts needed were on backorder. the contact believed that the manufacturer was ignoring the issue which he stated was a severe safety issue. in addition, the contact stated that the transmission was replaced twice since owning the vehicle. the failure mileage was 85,100. the vin was not available.

While driving on a straight road at 35 miles/hour, the 2005 jeep liberty suddenly lost control. the vehicle turned left and then around, and stopped on the opposite lane. it was raining and the road was wet. no hard brake or acceleration before this happened. the steering wheel was locked when the vehicle finally stopped. no injuries. the engine seemed on but the accelerator didn't work. had to turn off the vehicle completely and restart it. then everything started working. couldn't visually see anything wrong from the outside or under the hood. all fluid levels were normal. scared to death. the vehicle had no any issues before. it had always been working fine. it only had ~55k miles on it. *tr

2005 jeep liberty power steering hose failed for no apparent reason and this should not be happening !! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. while driving 30 mph, the contact was unable to control the steering wheel and crashed into a guardrail. the contact suffered broken ribs, several bruises and cuts. the vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed. the manufacturer confirmed that an investigator would further assess the failure. the investigation had not occurred when the complaint was filed. the failure and current mileages were 25,000. updated 06/22/10.*lj

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and was towed to a local repair shop for inspection. the mechanic diagnosed that the steering column was defective and made repairs. the failure recurred within one year and the vehicle was taken back to the mechanic where the contact was advised to have the steering column replaced a second time. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.

The height adjustment on the steering column unlocks and releases often with no warning. i find the lock bar dropped down and fully released. when resetting it is not firmly held in place. it is a real challenge to control a steering wheel that moves up and down. *tr

Steering part on left side broke off (still in rubber boot) and vehicle veered to the right and rolled over @ 30 mph. *tr

I have a 2005 jeep liberty whose ignition switch just failed. had it towed and the ignition switch must be replaced (which is under warranty), but it entails also exchanging the steering column (which, is not under warranty). they are telling me that i have to pay $800.00 to fix this my warranty which is still under effect that components not listed are not covered unless required as a direct result of the failure of a covered component. having read complaint after complaint with jeep liberties starting with year 2002 to present, it becomes obvious that this is a serious defect and it appears jeep has done nothing to rectify this problem and is coercing people (even under warranty) to pay for this. the parts are not even immediately available. this has not been resolved yet, but i think it is serious to note the incident. thank you *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made loud whining noises. the vehicle had not been diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified but stated there were no recalls for the vin. the contact did extensive research on the internet and determined that the failure was the power steering pump. the contact also stated that the windows in the vehicle randomly open independently. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileage was 31,000.

The steering column inside where ignition switch is cracked, that what i was told the vehicle has 90000 miles on it but it was in a crash and now the insurance adjuster says it is normal wear. it will not start, and it shorted out the battery. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the vehicle could not be started and the steering wheel was locked in place. the vehicle was later towed to the dealer where they advised her that the steering column needed to be replaced due to the ignition rod being fractured. the vehicle was repaired for the steering column. the failure recurred six months later. the manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was unknown. the current mileage was unknown.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. while attempting to make a right turn at 25 mph, the steering wheel locked. the contact lost control and the vehicle proceeded onto the other side of the road, where it crashed into an idle vehicle. the weather conditions were rainy. there were no injuries. one week prior to the crash, the contact stated that the vehicle felt strange, but assumed that it was due to the rain. she received a recall notice for the lower ball joints the day after the crash. the vehicle is unable to be driven and is parked at her residence. police report number 10060304 was filed. the powertrain and recall number were unknown. the current and failure mileages were 41,802.

I purchased this liberty renegade in october of 2006 and have been experiencing problems with it since. the main symptom is that when it is (or has been) raining, there is a very loud humming noise that comes from the area of the wheels, especially when turning one direction or another. i had the recall work done on the lower ball joint and on the material of the brakes (twice) and the same symptom is happening. the reason i bought this vehicle was because i have to drive over snow covered mountains to get to air national guard duty, and i certainly do not feel very safe. i am going to have to take the car back for a 4th time and there are only 18.000 miles on it. *jb

My 2005 jeep liberty 4x4 was serviced on january 11, 2007 at its place of purchase (brown daub chrysler in easton, pa). i had described to my service tech the car was making a loud screeching noise when turning and that the car had pulled to the right off and on (every few days) while i was driving. the mechanic stated that he found a "normal noise" related to an air valve in the power steering, and there were no repairs made to the vehicle. i was operating the jeep liberty on saturday, february 3rd. i had the vehicle in park at a drive-up atm. when i shifted the car back into drive, the front tires grabbed, the car kicked forward and the steering wheel pulled to the right. the jeep rode up over a concrete curb and struck a cement pole, shattering the passenger's side front window, ripping off the door handle, causing a dent and paint damage to the passenger's side of the vehicle. beyond this problem, the jeep has been serviced for a broad range of mechanical problems at least seven other times since the purchase date (october 2004). the fuel sending unit has been replaced twice, the vehicle has had two recalls, and four months after i purchased the vehicle the sensor wires had "rubbed through completely" on the transmission. right now, the vehicle is at a body shop for repair and inspection. it will then be returned to brown daub for a thorough diagnostic checkup of the power steering and/or steering column. beyond the steering issue, this is not the first time the car has 'kicked forward' - normally this occurs after stopping on wet roads (at traffic lights) my main concern, again, is the steering issue that contributed to this accident. i believe it needs to be further investigated. *jb

I was driving down my 3/10 mile private road, approximately a 12% grade with brake pedal engaged when suddenly the pedal went to the floor and the steering wheel locked. the car went 150' & down a 12' embankment head first onto a gravel drive and landed upside down. i was conscious at all times and crawled out the passenger side window. it was an hour before i was found. i had 2 broken legs & cracked 2nd vertebra. i spent 5 months in hospitals & a nursing home with a halo on my head & fixators on my legs. the car was totaled. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the steering wheel column switch disengaged without warning and caused the position of the steering wheel to fluctuate. the vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the failure, and the contact felt itwas a safety issue. the current and failure mileage were 36,000. *ak

I received a recall notice on my 2005 jeep liberty around the end of march stating that the ball joints could corrode and come apart while the vehicle is being driven causing a crash. my husband and i purchased the vehicle from auto world in big stone gap, virginia. we have called them several times since received the recall notice was received. however the problem still has not been corrected. we called them again about a month ago and was told that daimerler chrysler is not sending them the parts that they need to fix the recalled vehicles and that they are only getting 1 or 2 sets of ball joints per month from them. at that time they told us that we were #12 on their list and we have not heard anything since. i find this totally unacceptable. this is my only means of transportation to and from work so i do not have any choice but to drive it and hope that i do not get killed while doing so. also, it has come to my attention that the initial recall notice appeared in consumer reports magazine in november of 2006. i did not receive a recall notice until march/april of 2007. i can assure them that if any of my family members are injured or killed due to this problem i will own their company. i would appreciated any assistance with this matter.

My vehicle has a steering problem; i understand that the ball joints have been recalled. the dealer (berry, in corsicana, texas), says that there is no recall for my vehicle and refuses to work on it. i have already had it in for service, prior to learning about the recall, three times with no resolution. this has been ongoing since there were 22,000 miles on the vehicle. now, there are 31,000 miles. *nm

My 2005 jeep liberty has a recall for safety chrysler safety recall f23- and we only found out by accident, in speaking to many other people who have the same type of vechile and same year none of these people ever received any notice from daimler chrysler- when we found out about this recall - 60 days ago we called the dealer and i also contracted daimler chrysler - i was told that the dealers only get about 3 fix kits per week- and we are now number 96 on a wait list. nhts needs to lite a fire under daimler chrysler to get more fix kits out and to make them notify owner and we are the orginal ower of any further recalls

I purchased a 2005 jeep liberty limited on 05/23/2006. prior to taking delivery of the vehicle, i took it for a test drive and i noticed that the vehicle was pulling to the right and was told by the salesperson that it probably just needed an alignment. i received an "we owe you" for the alignment. the vehicle was taken back to the dealership for the alignment. the mechanic stated on the service slip that after he performed the alignment the liberty still pulled to the right and he stated that it was due to the crowning of the roadway. the road had nothing to do with it. it has gotten worse and i even drove it on a flat surfaced parking lot, first doing about 25 mph and it pulled right and then letting liberty coast and it still pulled right. i have owned and have driven several vehicles and i have never had this problem. received a call from a customer service rep regarding the visit to the service dept. for the alignment and they were told that the vehicle was still pulling to the right and that i was not happy with my experience purchasing this jeep, they informed me that they would notified the service manager. i have not been contacted by the service manger. after doing some research on the internet, i see that jeep has had some problems with the pulling right issue, and has had some recalls. it still pulls to the right and seems to be worse. number of failures would be everytime i drive the thing. this is a major safety issue that jeep chrysler needs to get fixed. the other concern i have is with the goodyear wrangler hp tires. these are not safe for this vehicle. i was at a stop light waiting to make a left turn, completely stopped waiting for the light to turn green. it had just started to sprinkle. when the light turned green, i started to go forward and was just making my turn when the vehicle fishtailed and i spun completely around and was facing oncoming traffic. how could a vehicle spin out upon starting from a complete stop at a stop light??? *nm

Tl* - the contact owns a 2005 jeep liberty. the contact stated that it had rained on and off throughout the night and morninge while driving 15 mph down a road to make a right turn and suddenly the vehicle had no steering, it went over the median, and hit another vehicle and then bounced back into her lane. the vehicle hit the driver's side corner of the contact's vehicle. no police report was taken, but the police was called. the contact stated that there was a lot of front end damage done to the vehicle. *ak

Purchased 2005 jeep liberty 9/29/05. the tire pressure sensor light was on immediately. took vehicle back to dealership and complained that the vehicle pulls badly to the right, especially at 65+ mph. the dealership fixed the tire pressure sensor, but told me the pulling to the right must be due to road conditions. after reading other customer complaints, i doubt it. when driving at highway speeds it is difficult to maintain in lane. if large tractor-trailer trucks pass this will create even more intense struggle to keep vehicle on the road. safety concerns regarding winter snow conditions are a deciding factor on keeping the vehicle. *nm

2005 jeep liberty crd will "sling shot" itself when starting from a stop with the a/c on. when you start to accelerate making a turn from being stopped the vehicle will start to move and you can feel, hear the engine gaining rpm but not movement then a sudden slingshot effect will take place. the selling dealer said it was normal for a diesel engine with a turbo to do this. also stated it was in the electronics and there wasn't any thing they could do to repair it. i would have to wait for a factory bulletin to come out. this new vehicle pulls to the right constantly, i requested the alignment to be corrected during the same dealership visit as above. i was told my alignment was checked and there was no abnormal tire wear so it must be the crown of the road causing the pull or drift. this vehicle also surges when the cruise control is engaged and you start up an incline, it will continue to surge as long as the incline lasts. after picking the vehicle up at the dealership today i started home and all three of the faults occurred. i returned to the dealership and the shop foreman went with me , where the vehicle again acted up. he said there was not any thing they could do about the surging and the alignment and the sling shotting was turbo lag. i have not diven the vehicle on wet or snow covered pavement, however, with what does i not sure i want to.
