Recall r06: the air bag on my 2003 jeep deployed on my daughter while driving on the highway. the air bag hit her in the chest and face. i called the jeep customer line to let them know what happened and they said there was a recall for the airbag. i informed them that i never received a recall for the airbag. they told me the recall was from 1/2015. in 2015 i took my jeep to the dealership 2 different times for recalls i had received. july 2015 and september 2015. so even if i didn't get a recall notice the dealership still should have seen the airbag recall wasn't done. i have been going threw hell trying to get the fca group to fix the airbag and do the recall. this is the response they emailed my after i told them what had happened (this will further acknowledge contact to fiat chrysler automobiles (fca), regarding your 2003 jeep liberty. naturally, we were sorry to learn of the incident described to us during the initial contact. however, we have had the opportunity to review your case and must inform you that we are not led to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility.) this was unacceptable my daughter could have crashed the jeep and died!! why would i lie about not get a recall notice that involves an airbag in 2015 but i had 3 other recalls done in 2015 after the airbag recall but no one noticed it wasn't done!!!

Takata indlators: the air bag light comes on after starting vehicle and now it will not go off in motion

The "air bag" warning light will randomly stay on after a key on and start. it does not turn off for that duration of the vehicle being turned on. the suspension ball joints in front are failing again since the recall was performed only 20k miles ago. with only street driving involved.

On 8-15-2018, i (driver/owner of a 2003 jeep liberty sport) was leaving my parking spot at a convenience store. when i put the vehicle in reverse, it immediately started speeding backwards. when i applied the brakes with all the force i could muster, it failed to stop the vehicle. the tires were squealing & black tire marks were left on the pavement. my vehicle stopped when i slammed into the front end of a parked car which was next to a gas pump with the driver inside. fortunately nobody was hurt. no police report was filed but my insurance company was called immediately to report it. "takata recall" i went to the local jeep dealership (bluebonnet jeep in new braunfels,tx.) with the recall notice in hand. the employee in the drive-up service lane called the office to verify if part was in stock. it was not. she made an appointment for 2 weeks from that date. i returned with my vehicle on my scheduled appointment date & was notified by a different employee that part(s) were still not available & was told that an individual needed to inspect my vehicle first but he didn't know when the inspector would be available to do it. i told that employee that they weren't serious about replacing the part(s) needed. so i got back in my car & drove home.

On may 28th, 2018, i was driving my 2003 jeep liberty to see a friend. i had just gotten off the highway when my driver side airbag deployed spontaneously. fortunately i was only going 10 mph and did not suffer major injuries, but i was cut up and concussed from the force of the airbag. i had my car towed to atlantic jeep chrysler in egg harbor twp nj. they told me i would be given a rental car and an investigation would need to be done. i waited 6 weeks to get my car back, as they kept pushing me when the investigation would finish. during this time i was ubering to my two jobs, as they need provided a rental car. they said chrysler would cover the rental once i got my car back and to provide receipts. seeing how this company operates, i knew this would not be the case. they eventually decided to do nothing about my car. it was a tiny chip that made the airbag deploy (they admitted it was an issue) but that they would only replace the chip. i was left with 2.4k in repairs to my car. they refused to pay for anything, even though it was their chip failure that made the airbag go off in the first place.

Car was recalled for air bag computer. i took the car in they replaced the part they were supposed to. when i picked up the car the air bag light was on. when i went back in they told me that they only replace the part and don't test it when done because chrysler does not pay for it. i verified this with crysler this is true. my safty concern is that they put cars back on the road where they may not be safe. don't know if the air bags could go off accidentally or if they work at all.

Hello, our jeep often or always had the airbag light warning on the dashboard. this was a concern of ours, and we had heard awhile back that there was a recall on jeep libertys airbag. when attempting to take it in for the recall fix, the company wanted an amount of money that we couldn't afford. recently my mom was in a car wreck, destroying the vehicles entire front and making it unusable. she told me she only received burns and that she probably wouldv'e been ok if the damaged airbags were fixed. she mentioned to me she received burns on her arms that were the fault of the bad airbags that werent any good. she would be willing to explain this better than i can since i only know that much. her hand this morning is now swollen from the injury. the vehicle was in a head on car collision with another person set to enter the freeway on a city street

I had my recalled occupant restraint module fixed. however, when we drive the car the air bag light /chime comes on and then the light will go away. this happens when turning or driving forward.

Cpsc: 2003 jeep liberty struck a tree head on and the airbags never deployed. the vehicle was inspected and had a clean and clear car fax of no prior damage history. *bf updated 06/13/2017*js

On november 14,2016 i had the occupant restraint control module replaced due to a recall launched on november 25,2015. in the recall it also stated that the sensors were to be replaced. since the "fix" my air bag light has gone on and off, now for the last three weeks the air bag light is on all the time. was told by auto nation jeep dealer on march third 2017 that it would cost me approximately $787 and change to fix. was also told that the sensors for my vehicle were not part of the recall. need to know if i should take it to another dealer or any other options needed to take.

I brought our jeep to the brookdale chrysler jeep for a occupant restrain module recall. upon picking up the vehicle we noticed the seat belt light on, so i informed the service manager. they where nonchalant about it . they suggested my wife had something on the seat which she did not. the soluntion was for me to pay to have it taken out and another installed. we asked about a loaner vehicle and he stated we had to rent onespite government requests that they provide recall customers with a free loaner. i now have a air bag light on which was not there before they installed the ocuupant restraint module. this is a directly related part and brookdale chrysler is leaving us hanging. no loaners car signs any where in sight (violation)

Both airbags on 2003 jeep liberty deployed for no reason. there was no accident. i was pulling out of the driveway. there were no passengers in the vehicle, only the driver. jeep has denied responsibility for this claim indicating that there was ample time to have the recall repaired. however, i did not receive any recall notices. jeep had and continues to have the wrong address on file. my address upon moving is promptly changed, yet jeep continues to have the wrong address on file.

Air bags did not deploy after making 2 impacts, totaling vehicle dear chrysler/jeep my name is [xxx] and i have been the proud owner of a 2003 jeep liberty renegade. on june 3, 2016 i was struck by another motorist on my home from work. i commute every day from the southwest suburbs of chicago to downtown chicago. i have taken the utmost pride in my jeep, providing regular maintenance. in the past 6 months i have spent over $1500 in replacements. i recently purchased 4 brand new tires, a new alternator, a new muffler, oil pressure switch and an evap sensor. i have also made purchases to customize my jeep, by adding neon lights in the inside, seat covers, and a new stereo system. asides from all the love and attention i put into my jeep, there was something about my accident that scared me the most. after the other vehicle struck me, my jeep kept on rolling, hopping a curb, narrowly missing a tree and hopping another curb and totaling my jeep. i suffered a left knee contusion in the end. the real horror is that my air bags did not deploy. for my vehicle to make 2 large impacts and no air bags has left me with a complete distrust in the brand. if my life was at a higher risk or if i had struck that tree or any other vehicle on the road, it's sad to think that the one safety feature that could have saved my life, took no action. yes, a product liability lawsuit is possible because of this, but i want to ensure 100% that they?re may be thousands out there that put their trust in their jeep, not knowing that it could possibly be a fatal mistake. I took my vehicle to the dealership to have the orc module replaced as part of recall campaing r06. the service writer informed me that after r/r of orc, they had to replace the front impact sensors, which was not part of the recall, and afterwards they could not communicate with the orc and it would cost me $100.00 or so to have issue diagnosed. i couldn't afford it and now have no air bags. also after leaving the dealership i noticed the pass. seatbelt is in a constant locked position while the drivers side seat belt never locks even when brakes are applied. fca said i wld need to pay for the diagnosis & if found to be related to the orc recall fca would reimburse me but i can't afford the diagnosis fee. so now i have to drive a vehicle with no air bags and no seat belts. how can this be considered a remedy to a recall situation? fca stated that it did sound like it would be related to the orc recall. if that is the case why should i have to pay for the diagnosis? it doesn't sound like to me that fca truly cares about the safety of their customers. is there anything that can be done to get this rectified without cost to the customer? this happened in may of 2016 & i didn't know i could report the incident to anyone or should even question it until i spoke with a neighbor who used to work for a dealership who advised me to look into the issue further as he said it didn't sound right to him.
