Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The week i bought the vehicle, a message pops up saying 'service shifter' and when my vehicle is in park it doesn't shift into drive sometimes. i had to turn my vehicle off and turn it back on in order for my car to go into drive, while sitting in line at a car wash. when i hook a computer up to my car there is no codes that pop up, my gear numbers on the screen stay white, they never turn red. the 'service shifter' is on the whole time my vehicle is running and stays on the dash when i turn it off.

Vehicle had an aem recall performed and now the interior of vehicle as well the exterior reaks of diesel fumes all there is a terrible hesitation and at times almost a delay in the throttle we have made numerous complaints and trips to the jeep dealer they say they cannot find issues the reason behind it. we just spent 5 hours at the dealer for a clogged dpf filter only to leave and have my wife vomit from the fumes we pulled over several times to get fresh air.. i spoke to lynn at fca customer care badge number ln187 extension 3020187 she told me if i was concerned i should return vehicle to dealer which i have done numerous times since the end of may.the vehicle is not safe due to fumes let alone the throttle working when it chooses to

Down shifts several gears without warning while at speed causing engine to over rev and drastically slow.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the contact was immediately able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled again. the vehicle was restarted and the contact continued driving. while at a fuel station and attempting to start the vehicle, the contact had to press the start button several times before the vehicle would start. the failure occurred multiple times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in an unknown recall regarding the alternator, battery, and pcm approximately four months ago. stew hansen dodge ram chrysler jeep (located at 12103 hickman rd, urbandale, ia 50323, 515-331-2900) performed the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

When i accelerate, the car lurches. as it goes faster, it catches. when i put it in reverse it does the same thing.

Service shifter. red dash warning that states "service shifter" comes on at random times during vehicle operation, while moving slowly in the driveway at highway speeds, while backing and moving forward. no rhyme or reason as to what will trigger the warning. has been occuring for several months now.

The oil filter housing on this car is cracked, leading to a oil leak and pooling problem which is a significant fire hazard issue to the passengers. this happens while driving and when the car is stationary causing a pool of oil to collect in car and drip on floor. this is a known problem - nhtsa has recorded a number of complaints from users (e.g. id 11244788,11230350, 11193883 etc.). the company has also issued a service bulletin: sb-10058301-5939. *tt 'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*jb

After fca issued recall and required update done, dangerous driving conditions exist. the update is referred to as the v08 aem update. after update done suv became dangerously sluggish. when trying to accelerate to merge into traffic, power is dangerously low. this putting the drivers and passengers in danger when expecting suv to perform as pre update. suv also began to lurch forward when coming to a stop, which if not paying attention could cause an accident to occur. in addition suv now shifts very hard, which doesn't purpose any safety issue, but does make the suv uncomfortable to drive.

I took my vehicle to the dealer for service and to allow them to perform a recall to the emissions system per the notice i received. i picked up the vehicle and went to pull out into traffic and despite leaving plenty of room to accelerate, the vehicle took a very long time to move over 15 mph despite pressing the pedal harder. i ended up impeding traffic as it took so long to get moving. this slow response continued for the first 15-20 minutes and improved some, but not to normal operation. it was already late in the day, so i thought i would return to the dealer the next day to see what the problem was. the next morning, the vehicle again has very long delays from the time you depress the accelerator and the time it actually moves. it again improved once it warmed up, but still feels like it is starting in 2nd gear and has an unacceptably long delay before it moves from a stop. i feel that this is a safety issue as the vehicle now cannot merge into traffic within a reasonable amount of time. in addition, the exhaust seems to have been regenerating the dpf multiple times as you can smell the odor and feel the heat in the floor of the vehicle. i am concerned that it may be overheating the exhaust which could pose a fire risk, as well as the lack of pedal response which could cause a collision if it unexpectedly loses power upon pulling across traffic. i have a message to the dealer, but have checked the recall related forums and have found that this is a known issue with this update, and that fca has no known fix. the recall letter stated that there would be no driveability impact due to the aem update and no significant impact on fuel economy. this supposed epa emissions recall has made my vehicle unsafe and increased the amount of fuel consumed.

The transmission electronic shift lever in my 2014 jeep grand cherokee is having problem in park and is it difficult to shift . there was a jeep recall # s49 and several more also issued but my local jeep/ chrysler dealer here in asuncion, paraguay refuses to honor the recall and fix this dangerous problem. please note that in order to fill out this form and send it i had to put florida and a zip code. however i live and purchased the car from the dealer in asuncion : paraguay (garden automotores).

Started to hear a loud clicking noise coming from the engine compartment. took it to byers jeep dealership in columbus ohio to have it evaluated . mechanics say that the transfer case is bad and the transfer case module needs to be replaced immediately. the jeep grand cherokee clicking noise was heard while both in stationary and driving mode.

After receiving the v08 diesel emissions recall update, the truck is very sluggish to accelerate from a stop. noticeable delay from pressing accelerator to forward motion. almost hit numerous times as truck hesitated while pulling into traffic. before the emissions recall this was not an issue. very dangerous situation. also some hesitation in shifting through the lower gears.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the vehicle was taken to dch chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of temecula (26845 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591, (951) 225-4541) for a software upgrade per manufacturer recall number: v08. after the repair, the vehicle was inoperable. the contact mentioned that when the vehicle was started and the accelerator pedal was depressed, there was a delay in acceleration. the contact mentioned that the vehicle would not accelerate over 6 mph. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 49,000.

Vehicle has lost power and fuel mileage after completing the fca approved emissions modification. there is a hazardous dead spot/lag in acceleration from a stop. all driving characteristics have changed drastically even after fca claims nothing would be affected by the aem.

Engine shuddered and stopped while in park. tried to restart, but would not start (electrical was fine). had it towed and fuel injector replaced. drove for approximately 75 miles and acceleration ceased on busy highway at 70mph. when able to pull over and stop, would not go into park (even though shifter indicated that it was in park). dashboard indicated that my speed was too high to shift (i do not recall the full message) and it began to roll backwards into traffic. i turned it off and it stopped rolling. tow truck said he had difficulty putting it in neutral. prior to failure to accelerate, there was a heavy rumbling sound when gas pedal pushed; then it sounded like small parts were falling off of the engine; then grinding sound but no acceleration. i saw a brief message about 4wheel drive, but was trying to get to safety, so i do not know what it said. i had a passenger and toddler in the car. frightening!

Vehicle had faulty dtcm (transfer case control module) at 73,000 miles. faulty unit resulted in misreadings sent to transfer case causing transfer case to fail mechanically. no codes or artifacts left behind from fault. dtcm and transfer case both needed to be replaced due to faulty control module. this issue is commonly reported online across jeep forums for vehicles using this dtcm, and fails commonly. when inquiring with dealership on repairs, dealer stated this part is known to fail commonly but no tsb has been issued. opened warranty case with fca regarding failure of mopar branded part on vehicle. fca warranty department was only willing to split repair cost 50/50 (vehicle outside of power train warranty) even after noting this is a known issue.

We started our vacation drive to florida june 9, 2019 when we got to florida june 11, 2019 we got a message that popped up on our vehicle that said service shifter. we were really upset because we just bought the vehicle on june 6, 2019. the dealership wants us to pay a $250 deductible for the issues we are having with it. this should be covered under our warranty.

After the emissions recall, my jeep has dangerous lag on acceleration. you press the gas pedal and there is a 3-5 second delay before anything happens. very dangerous when pulling out of my driveway etc. additionally the fuel economy has decreased substantially. any help with this is greatly appreciated. thanks, mike

Tl* the contact's wife owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that there was a software patch update that was required for the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to dutchess chrysler jeep dodge (2285 south rd, poughkeepsie, ny 12601, (845) 462-7700) and the update was performed. upon the update being performed, the vehicle would not accelerate over 30 mph without warning. the contact also stated that the vehicle would stall at various speeds without warning. furthermore, the vehicle jerked while driving various speeds and the check engine warning indicator later illuminated. when the check engine indicator illuminated, all the internal electric units, such as the phone charger, 3g wi-fi, voice control system unit, and other electrical units failed to operate. the contact took the vehicle to healey chrysler dodge jeep ram (557 ny-52, beacon, ny 12508, (845) 831-1148) where they replaced a sensor under warranty. the check engine indicator initially turned off after the sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred soon after the remedy was performed. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and stated that they were still awaiting another software update to correct the failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Service shifter warning appears on dash. while driving on city or highway. all lights on shifter are lighted up at one time. ie. p,r,n,d,s all lite at once. brought to dealer for pcm update. this did not fix the issue.

I recently had the ecodiesel update installed on our 2014 ecodiesel jeep grand cherokee. the statement from the manufacturer is the driving conditions, fuel mileage, and performance will not be impacted due to the ecm update. these are false statements as the updated has greatly impacted our vehicle! fuel mileage as decreased greatly, there is a huge lag in the turbo, and the transmission shifts gears all over the place. the update is unsafe! my wife drives this car with our twin 15 month old boys. the lack in response of the turbo makes it unsafe while driving on the freeway. there is no get up and go, it's difficult to merge into traffic, and nearly impossible to pass. there is no responsivness in the throttle to feel like you have control over the car. we loved this car before the madated update (we live in california, we have to get the update to register the car). no we feel like the car is unsafe to drive with our children in it!

I was driving my 2014 jeep grand cherokee when it shut off while i was driving 40 mph luckily i was in a parking lot and could slow down to the shoulder where i was then pushed away from traffic they said it was due to a short in my tippin and my fuel pump went my truck was brought brand new and barely has 50,000 miles on it and over 2000 complaints for the same thing for faulty equipment put in the vehicles from 2005 to 2014 and chrysler does not want to be held accountable so they have not put a recall on it and it is an open lawsuit that i saw it cost me over $3000 to get this fixed and this could really have went a different way i could've been hit and killed chrysler needs to be held accountable but i guess they won't make a recall and less someone is killed

Abs and stability light came on while driving 45 mph also the dash says service four wheel drive it all happened at the same time i think it might be part of the abs recall

Jeep randomly stalls driving on freeway and/or jerks when downshifting. vehicle also downshifts hard from 8th to 6th gear, all other gear shifts are fine. while driving at 60 mph vehicle stalled when accelerating to speed up. vehicle attempted to downshift from 8th gear when stall occurred. once vehicle was stopped it started back up without issue to destination. it has chugged 5 separate times when downshifting on freeway in the 7 weeks of owning car, this time it completely died. no check engine light or other indications of engine/transmission failure. no failures recorded to onboard computer. gas tank 3/4, outside temp 38, oil temp 180, transmission temp 140; normal accessories on including lights, radio, heater, seat warmer low. all recalls up to date including campaign uc1.

When driving on the highway at 60 mph the vehicle made a popping sound and shifted into neutral. there were no warning lights prior to the incident. the vehicle has 64,000 miles and suffered complete transmission failure.

Vehicle was in for 100,000 mile service at dealership. during inspection tech noted there was seepage coming from the input/output shaft seals on the transfer case. after reading jeep forums i noticed this seems to be a common occurrence.

Complete electronic and communications failure of instrument panel from unknown electrical shortage resulting in loss of control over transmission shifting and most control switches like windshield wipers, turn signals, emergency flashers and brake warning like is on that i believe indicated no abs. experienced this problem many times driving on i-75 in michigan and ohio. very dangerous situation while on the road without any prior warning. initial warning is "service shifter soon" followed by "no bus". after multiple trips to the fca dealer, root cause not identified and more fix to date. suspect the electronic shifter malfunctioning but no help from dealer service department. reoccuring problem for the past 9 months. current mileage is 79,000 miles with vin # (xxx) 2014 jeep grand cherokee. no accidents or aftermarket add on work ever. i fear for my safety driving this vehicle to florida for retirement on 1-25-2019 through 1-29-2019. again, no resolution from golling chrysler or from fca star case #57876853. i fear this vehicle is not reliable at this point for short or long distance driving. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cw

Two occurrences of catastrophic engine failure leaving me stranded on highway fearing for my life. first event dealer had jeep for 5 months to "replace motor" i had to contact them several times after getting it back to obtain documentation and was told original warranty of 100k miles would be renewed. recent second occurrence at 60k miles on new motor dealership has now had vehicle for over 2 months. now trying to charge me for high pressure diesel pump they replaced, car still not running. plan to replace all valves, will it run? initially it had shown so many codes they couldn't determine why the car failed. nhtsa has over 130 complaints on this motor. jeep fiat chrysler awaiting govt. to sign off on emissions scandal settlement that will allow them to not have to buy back this vehicle, unlike volkswagen who did the right thing for same issue and bought back. unlike volkswagen this vehicle has multiple documented defects and safety issues. i am being stonewalled by jeep for resolution. since my purchase of this jeep in 10/2014 it has been in for repairs unrelated to normal use more times than i can count, over 7 months in shop while i am paying on it without being able to use it. i purchased this vehicle for reliability, it has failed that test over time. they could again replace the motor and i do not want the vehicle back, i will not again risk being stranded on the highway, engine nearly on fire after shaking, knocking, rocking, and smoking not able to turn off until it dies. i refuse to resell it to some unknowing unsuspecting person that will end up with a lemon if the dealer gets it running. this jeep needs to be recalled immediately before someone loses their life! jeep and the dealer service departments need to be made to stop defrauding consumers and making millions on a defective lemon. i have never had so many issues with a vehicle in my life. help!!!

Multiple times after parking my grand cherokee and verifying that it is in park via the dash, i've noticed my grand cherokee rolling a few feet if parked on an incline. when this happens, it typically rolls 3-5 feet, and then stops.

Failed engine oil filter adapter/cooler on a 2014 jeep grand cherokee 3.5 liter v6. has only 52,000 miles. mechanic found a crack that caused massive oil leak. cost to replace : $1,500.

Vehicle lunges and bucks in stop and go traffic, transmission shifts gears while driving and engine stalls after refueling or driving on highway. check engine light, service transmission as well as numerous other service lights come on and car stalls multiple times while driving on the road and after refueling.

Squeeling on every start up. hard shifting several complaints. chrysler has issued a service bulletin #07-002-15 rev. a to address a screeching noise on startup, or more specifically an idler pulley noise during cold start on the vehicles listed below: 2014 ' 2015 jeep cherokee 2011 ' 2014 jeep grand cherokee 2011 ' 2014 dodge durango 2011 ' 2014 dodge charger 2011 ' 2014 dodge challenger 2011 ' 2014 chrysler 300 2011 ' 2014 dodge journey 2011 ' 2014 chrysler 200, dodge avenger 2011 ' 2014 chrysler town and country, dodge caravan the bulletin applies only to vehicles built on or before september 01, 2014 and those vehicles equipped with 3.2l v6 24v vvt, or 3.6l v6 24v vvt engine. chrysler states that the sound is a loud high frequency screeching noise on startup that happens within 20 seconds of engine startup and lasts about 90 seconds intermittently during a cold engine start, approximately 0 degrees c (32 degrees f) and below. the fix is a new updated idler pulley #05281301aa idler pulley

Constantly will make a squeeling sound every morning on start up. lasts over a minute - not even on cold days! have had it looked at - state can't duplicate the oeuvre (of course because it's always the first start up! rough idle every 2-3 minutes, transmission shifts hard out of first gear. pour fuel economy as well. maintenance has been done. just bought the car - several issues

Oil filter housing leak. noticed car began leaking oil after jeep dealer chagned oil. took to a different dealer, and found out the oil filter housing was leaking. known problem with this engine and year, yet there has been no recall.

2014 jeep grand cherokee. consumer writes in regards to transmission issues. *ld *js

While pulling into parking spot, and stopping. i pushed the shift lever all the way forward, until it stopped, released the foot brake, and the vehicle started moving backwards. i still had my hand on the shifter, and attempted to push it farther, but it was all the way forward, and would not move further. at the same time i looked at the indicator and it showed that the vehicle was in reverse, and it would not go into park. meanwhile the vehicle was still moving backwards and almost stuck another vehicle. i had to release the shifter, and push it forward again, along with stepping on brake pedal. this has happened more than 3 times. this vehicle has had the software update done to it. the update is only good if you are trying to exit the vehicle. if you are not paying very close attention, when you park, the vehicle will take off in reverse unexpectedly, very dangerous situation.

Excessive corrosion on the outer threads and nut that hold the hub (rotor/wheel & tire) on the axle. i have pictures from the first time i noticed it on march 10th 2018. it looks exponentially worse today. left without replacement the wheel & hub will fail & cause serioud injury in less than 12 month. recommend mandatory manufacture recall on 2014 grand cherokee. the pic attached is from march 2018. the corrosion is exponentially worse on 11/12/2018.

The transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral, "chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 jeep cherokee and 2015 chrysler 200, jeep renegade, ram promaster, and 2016 fiat 500x vehicles equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions." the recall code is s55, but this car not including there

My 2014 jeep grand cherokee has stalled while driving 3 times; twice on the highway at speeds in excess of 60 mph, and once while making a right turn on a busy street. i push on the gas to accelerate the vehicle, and it stalls. all electrical is still on, but i have to stop the car, put it in park, then i can restart and continue. i was almost in a collision a few times because of the car stalling. there are no error codes or lights to indicate what the problem is. jeep is not trying to fix the issue and act as if they haven't heard of this before. dealerships "can't replicate the issue" so they just give the car back. it feels as if the car doesn't downshift properly (big jarring motion like you've been rear-ended) when trying to go up a hill, or pass a slower vehicle. dealership already replaced both fuel pumps, but didn't fix the problem.

I have a 2014 jeep grand cherokee srt. in the last year and a half, i have had to have the transfer case & rear end replaced. this is just uncalled for on a 4 year old car. it is currently sitting at the dealership (has been there for a week so far) to have the lifters/cam replaced. the parts from chrysler are so far on back order there's no hope of getting them. the aftermarket parts are also on back order. those 2 things tell me that this is a widespread malfunction with this engine & seems to me to be a design flaw.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the service shifter indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to stockton dodge chrysler jeep ram (3333 auto center cir, stockton, ca 95212), but it could not be repaired because there was not an active failure code on the vehicle. the failure occurred several times. also, while driving the vehicle, the instrument panel screen went black and all the indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to lodi chrysler dodge jeep ram (1255 beckham rd, lodi, ca 95240) multiple times, but they could not diagnose the cause of the failures. the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v483000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system). the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 68,000.

The jeep was stationary, started, put into neutral, put into 4 wheel drive and it locked into it. unable to get it out of 4 wheel drive . dealer says its transmission sensor and clutch on transfer case.

We thought the vehicle was in park, when in fact it was in neutral. this caused the car to roll forward and collide with a veh. parked in front

Vehicle will shift from 3rd to 4th very hard and get stuck in 3rd gear more often than not. this is a problem when pulling into traffic.

Vehicle was in motion, traveling west. vehicle was being driven at normal interstate speeds. vehicle began to make a slight jarring sound along with a thumping feeling, as if driving along the knock strips. this was consistently occurring every 7 seconds or so, as if a tire was shredded. vehicle began to accelerate along with traffic flow. engine light began illuminating. engine began to feel lethargic. all digital gauges were indicating normal temps and pressure. no tire warnings. vehicle began to exhibit smoke smell in vents. vehicle became harder to accelerate to attempt to alleviate issue, as if stuck in between gears. vehicle became harder to control. switched from left lane to far right to reduce speed. vehicle became more lethargic. as vehicle proceeded up exit ramp to leave interstate, transmission automatically went into neutral. vehicle was able to coast into gas station parking lot. vehicle was shut off. raised hood, and there was a smell similar to rotten eggs, like a natural gas smell. no obvious damage as if it was physical. no belts or hoses appeared loose or hanging. no fluids were visibly leaving engine. no smoke or steam. attempted to restart vehicle after several minutes to cool engine due to hotter temperatures. vehicle has push button starter. vehicle would not start for roughly 15 seconds with brake pedal depressed. vehicle sounded like it was straining to start. roadside assistance was notified. upon arrival, tow truck operator had extreme difficulty starting vehicle. vehicle had to be forced onto tow truck using cable release in center console. electrical systems functioned fine. no damage to body or underside upon examination of good samaritans and tow truck operator. vehicle has roughly 74,xxx miles, of which roughly 45,000 are highway mileage. vehicle is maintained regularly for oil changes and has had tires rotated and balanced.

Vehicle was parked in a parking stall at the city park. i left the vechicle to pickup tools at the parks band shelter which was about 40 feet from the parked vechicle. i returned to parked location and the vechicle was gone. i found it about 20 feet away wedged up against the park shelters pillar with a bicycle wedged underneath the vechicle. the vechicle was stopped by brick column about 4' from the playground. 3 school age boys were mere seconds from being struck by the vechicle. the vechicle never turned off as when i exited the vechicle and put it into park, the vechicle didn't 'shift' into park as expected. the incident was caught on camera by the parks security camera. it's is terrifying to say the least. after the fact photos are included here as well.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 70 mph, the tachometer, rpm, speedometer, water temperature, tire pressure, electronic stability control, gear shifter, seat belt, and anti-skid warning indicators illuminated. also, the windshield wipers independently activated. while accelerating from a stop, the gear shifter failed to shift out of gear. the vehicle was towed to rairdon's chrysler dodge jeep ram of kirkland (12828 ne 124th st, kirkland, wa 98034), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v483000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, electronic stability control). the manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall and referred him to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 15,000. *dt *tt consumer stated: i have now been driving the jeep for four months since the bcm was replaced. within the first month since the bcm replacement, there were two instances where, during a left-hand turn, the instrument cluster dropped out momentarily (blinked) with a coincident fault warning chime. but in both instances, all systems immediately recovered and there have been no other instances, regardless of driving conditions, for the past three months. updated 10/5/18*jb

The vehicle stalls while you are driving it, transmission light comes on. it says place in park to restart but sometimes takes forever and then it sputters. sometimes when you turn the vehicle off you can still hear the fuel pump operating. this has happened several times now. i have a child and if anything happens- like getting ran over by oncoming traffic and either of us gets hurt- someone is going to pay dearly. it's not like jeep chrysler doesn't know about this problem. please make them pull all of these vehicles off of the road before someone gets killed. thank you! the last time it stalled was during my father's funeral..thanks jeep!!! it states the last time and miles...let me tell you, this isnt the only time!!

Chrysler (fca us llc) recall t36 / nhtsa 17v-435 incident summary on 2018-01-21, my 2104 jeep grand cherokee stalled while traveling at approximately 65mph. a crash was avoided, but the situation was highly dangerous to passengers and other drivers on the road. this incident exhibited all the symptoms and warnings from chrysler (fca us llc) recall t36 / nhtsa 17v-435. (summarized below) the vehicle lost power and stalled while driving on the highway. just prior to the stall, warnings briefly flashed in the instrument control panel. warnings included; battery saver mode, abs system failure, suspension failure. all electronics in the vehicle exhibited bizarre behavior and could not be controlled. additionally the speedometer continually recycled and the wipers turned on with no intervention. complete loss of power steering and braking occurred. after the stall completed and the vehicle was stopped, a loud high-pitched ticking noise came from the engine compartment. additionally, a pungent burning smell and smoke came from the engine compartment. the vehicle was completely disabled and unresponsive and was towed to a jeep dealership on 2018-01-21. a claim was filled with fca us llc recall department on 2018-01-23. as of 2018-01-26, the dealer is still waiting for fca us llc recall department to respond. as of 2018-01-26, the parts are still not yet available for this recall. t36 / nhtsa 17v-435 recall summary 'the alternator on your vehicle may experience diode thermal fatigue failure due to cyclical loads induced by ehps. when the diodes fail, the alternator will no longer supply electrical energy to the vehicle and may lead to a vehicle stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. failed diodes may also develop a resistive short circuit that can result in heat, smoke and/or fire originating within the alternator.'

I had reached into the storage and outlet trey in the center counsel while going down the highway. my jacket sleeve apparently hit the gear shift and bumped it into neutral. when i realize what was happening i had to apply the brake and push the button on the gear shifter to return it to drive. i reach in this storage tray many time a day and have had this happen before, just not going 70 mph on a highway. if this stick is highly programmable, why can it not be programed to require me to push the gear shift button to change from drive to neutral?? this is dangerous and distracting when driving. their is not much room for your arm to reach over the shifter to retrieve items in the trey.
