I have had a problem with my car stalling randomly since the day i bought it brand new off the lot. i have been complaining to the dealership for 8 years now and they have never once offered to fix it. they kept telling me nothing was wrong with my car. the last time i took my car in for randomly stalling (while on the freeway), my warrenty has just expired and then they told me i had to replace my entire fuel pump system. now a few weeks ago i received a recall about my fuel pump system saying do not drive your vehicle beaucse its unsafe. the manufacture has told me they will not supply me with a rental car, public transportation pass nor will they reimburse me for rideshare services. i have had nothing be problem after problem with this car i bought brand new off the lot. now they are telling me not to drive it until its fixed but cant tell me when they can fix it. this is absurd. my dash board in my car also was defective (the leather covering it shrunk and peeled up). the manufacture told me it was "cosmetic" and they would not cover it so after years of complaining, i finally just paid for a whole new dash board myself out of my own pocket. now they just sent me a recall for this part and i've already paid for it. how can you help? My grand cherokee has stalled several dozen times over the past few years and the dealer can't fix it. the car stalls when slowing to a stop or turning through an intersection but we can't duplicate the problem at the service center. the dealer kept the car for nearly a month trying to duplicate the problem but could not, but i have kept records over the past year of all stalls and the conditions and the only condition that remains constant is that i am quickly braking from 40 mph or faster or i am braking while turning. initially it only occurred while turning left, but now it occurs while turning right and while braking quickly while going straight. i have been in several near misses due to losing power steering and brakes and i am to the point to where i can't allow anyone but me to drive the car due to the safety factor. twice i almost hit a car while turning and once a big rig almost hit me in the side as the car stalled mid-intersection of a six lane highway. the car is still under chrysler's warranty, and as noted, the dealer has tried to fix the problem, but has failed time after time. the problem has occurred dozens of times but the latest time was today, at which point i decided to submit this complaint. although i can't duplicate the problem on demand, there are 3locations where it most often occurs, and it most often occurs in the morning. the first location is about 2.5 miles from my house, and the other two are 5 miles each from my house. two of the three locations are at intersections with red lights, while the third is simply the location of where i work where it has stalled multiple times while just turning into the driveway. it also has stalled several times while coming home or just driving around or on vacation. dealer has replaced fuel pump relay, wiring, and some emission control parts.
My jeep all of a sudden stalled right before a sharp corner causing panic and loss of control of the vehicle. my family is scarred and my wife does not trust driving the vehicle especially after not even a week later we received a recall letter stating vehicle can stall but there's no solution!!!! when the jeep stalled i drove into a ditch unable to over power the all of a sudden tight steering and now i have suspension problems!
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the engine stalled and all the indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive home. the contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 19v813000 (fuel pump). the contact spoke with an unknown dealer and was informed to wait on the recall. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the part was not available for the repair and advised the contact that they may need to replace the fuel pump; however, it may not correct the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not available. vin tool confirms parts not available. Vehicle has had starting problems and stalling problems on numerous occasions since december 2019. i believe these are related to the recall issued on this vehicle last december 2019. complaint is the chrysler corporation is unwilling to make a temporary fix as promised until the "vehicle is totally dead." stalling on the highway in the middle of rush hour is a safety issue/hazard. most recent incident: sunday-2-2-2020, vehicle would not start for five hours.
Email 2 of 2 here are my proposed solutions: #1 corporate pays the dealership to fix the recall problem with the fuel pump relay issue now with the current parts they have and then the dealer will fix it again when you get the correct recall parts in. you as chrysler can sort it out with the dealer and i as the customer am not asked to pay for a recall. #2 if my car is not able to be repaired until the recall parts are available, then provide me with a loaner car until my car is repaired. i expect to be contacted by end of business day with your proposed resolution. Its something with the fuel pump and it make the car dont start i took it to the dealer before they had it for two months then gave it back and said they did a temporary fix that should work till they get the recall part. i havent had my car back for 3 weeks yet and it acting up again. what is the window that they have to fix your car i mean i still pay carnote and full coverage insurance (recall related incident) ts
Chrysler made a recall on the fuel pump relay on nov 14, 2019. on nov 18, 2019 my vehicle completely stopped in the middle of the street and did so numerous time during the week. luckily, i was never on the highway went it happened. i called chrysler they informed me it was one of the vehicles in the recall, however they did not have a solution at the moment and i had to wait until jan 2020. i could not drive a vehicle in that condition, so i took it to my mechanic. i called chrysler to inform them of this and they said to just submit the proof of the service. however, when i did submit the proof they declined it stating chrysler had not updated the recall and there were no parts. i should get reimbursed for the recall.
The 2012 jeep grand cherokee overland i purchased two years ago has started to completely stall while driving causing the power steering to not function as well as the brakes. this engine power turns off randomly at around 10-15 mph (when making turns, stopping and/or accelerating) but there are no warning lights that appear on the dash. all electrical power to the car still functions and the engine stall is not noticeable until applying pressure to the brakes or trying to steer the wheels. the first incident was (easter) 28 april 2019. the car shut off around 10 miles per hour as i made a left turn crossing the incoming lane into a parking lot. luckily there was no car coming or a serious accident would have resulted. the frequency of these types of stalls have become greater. they are happening at least once a week without any type of warning. the most recent incident was november 7th 2019. this vehicle was released from the dealership on november 1st, 2019. the vehicle has been taken to the dealership multiple times to find the problem as well as maintenance. nothing has been found that would cause this. the dealership says the vehicle is perfectly fine. as simple test drive will not be able to find the problem.this is the same concern as fca recall t59 and nhtsa recall # 17v-572.
Engine stalled while in motion on us highway 101 on 11/7/19; fortunately no crash occurred. we took into mechanic at jeep santa maria; they had it all week from 11/8/19 to 11/15/19 and said it was fine. it appears this was caused by a faulty part that was installed pursuant to a previous recall that fca has been investigating since 2018. we are anxious to have this open nhtsa campaign number:19v813000 resolved asap.

Recall notice v-62 since 11/01/2019 fuel pump relay if bad car will stop cause a crash
There has been a sporadic issue when trying to start my vehicle where it'll make an attempt to turn over and get started but it's getting stuck as if it's maybe not catching the correct amount of fuel. i've also experienced seat belt issues with my seat belt light on and beeping as if it's not on but it would already be properly buckled in. i also had an issue with my engine cooling system that was cause some sort of leak
When the car is stationary it will not start when the button is pushed. the car shudders and the computer freezes. it can only start when the key is used in place of the push button. it seems as if the starter is not relaying to the fuel pump. this car underwent a big recall in march of 2017. the fuel pump, fuse box, battery and alternator were replaced. it was at the dealers for three weeks. the jeep broke down and had smoke coming from under the hood. unfortunately, we received the recall notice three days after the problem occurred, so we had taken it to our mechanic. then we had to have an additional tow to the dealership. (recall r09)
There was a recall for the fuel pump relay back in 2015. mine was replaced in april of 2016 then again in 2017, 2018, and now once again needs to be replaced. i have paid for a new one and labor and its still faulty and happens about a year later every time.
I bought the car in a different state and ever since i bought it i've had fuel pump symptoms. car stops getting fuel to it and wants to shut off. now it won't shift gears without shutting off, it isn't getting any fuel to it at all even though there is fuel in the gas tank. i went to get gas because my gas light came on. i shut my car off to pump gas. when i was finished i went to turn my car back on and it sputtered and shook and didn't want to stay on. i tried to put it in drive and move away from the gas pump and it wouldn't hardly move. it was real jumpy (kind of like a car out of gas) i wound up having to get it towed home. me and my fianc looked up possible problems and found that my model of jeep had recalls for faulty wiring for the fuel pump fuse and i want to know if there's something i can do to resolve my problem. i haven't even had my car for 6 months yet.
My jeep has an ignition/starting problem. it will try to start but just keeps turning over. after 10 seconds it will stop then it will usually start after. online it says the timp could be the problem.
Car is not maintaining power after starting. i have seen recalls for the car but jeep is denyong the claim
Nhtsa recall number: opens new window takes away from vin lookup section>19v-813recall date: november 14, 2019. i had numerous instances this past year where the vehicle stalled unexpectantly and then would not start. had to have it towed to the dealer and they replaced the fuel relay but i had to pay for the service. i was told that this was the second time that the fuel relay had been replaced on my vehicle. can i get my money back? is this new recall a permanent fix or will i have to replace the part again within a year or two?
Starter or gas pump it doesnt work properly
When getting off the expressway or highway my truck cuts off when i exit for my stop no power or control of the power steering.
Periodically, the vehicle stalls immediately after starting. i then have to keep pushing the start/run button until the car switches to off and then try to restart the car again. this goes on 5 or 6 times until it stays running. i have tried versions of pumping the gas (before and during). it still stalls. i am using today's date, but this has been going on for months.
I had been experiencing problems with my car stalling while cranking or it would get hung up and cut right back off more than 3x numerous times so many i can't count! i called mopar service number because the first fuel pump relay call and they did absolutely told me to go to a dealership and run diagnostics which is around $200 right off the bat! this was may of 2019 here it is nov and there is not a remedy yet or parts available! i should not have to pay and be reimbursed especially when i called way before now about the same problem as before!
Push button start does not work. fuel pump is not working properly to allow the vehicle to start. the vehicle has stalled out on a freeway. will not start while stationary. i have to tap the fuel pump in order to start the vehicle
After failing inspection it was in shop 6 weeks for repair but was not repaired! it misses more than ever, most often during idle & has difficulty starting at times & you can smell gas sometimes making me fear it will catch fire.
Having issues starting the vehicle will attempt to start but will not turn over as if the fuel pump or relay is not kicking in. vehicle was parked attempted to start has an extended crank.
Vehicle stalls without warning. vehicle is in motion, slowing to turn. usually on a right turn near beginning of turn. power assist steering and braking disabled. has happened approximately 10-12 times since purchased in february 2019. reported to dealership on march 5, 2019, at which time we were told it was a previous recall and they would order parts to redo recall. informed today that a new recall was issued, but no solution is ready. reporting for nhtsa records.*dt *tr
Starting issues, starts up and quickly cuts off. all lights and power are on. plenty of fuel in tank but not overfilled. i think it is the fuel injection area. i worry it will just cut off due to that while driving. this has happened at least 3 times in the past 3 weeks, it is becoming more frequent.
Engine stalls while driving without warning. this started in november 2018 and has happened 5 times since. have taken it to 3 different repair shops and still no resolution. there was a recall back in 2015 #15v-115 to fix the fuel pump relay which could cause this to happen. service was done per the recall. have an active case with jeep (fiat) but they have been no help and keep sending us the jeep dealer. diagnostics have been done 3 times to no avail. this is a significant safety issue as the vehicle dies while driving and the steering locks up as well as the brakes. each time this happens the vehicle is in motion going about 40mph. has happened while going straight and while turning. the radio stays on and no warning lights appear on the dashboard.
The truck continues to stall while operating and does not turn over when trying to restart. this prevents a quick reaction to being stalled when slowing to enter or exit at an intersection. on most occasions, the car will not start and continues to crank when either using the push start, manual key fob, or auto start. it cannot be moved once stalled. if you attempt to restart too quickly or after several attempts, it will flood. this same issue was included in a previous recall for the fuel pump relay. however, it did not resolve the issue. the same behavior is experienced and is very dangerous. to provide history of failed recalls, the brake shield recall was corrected by two seperate recalls and was also a very dangerous safety issue that prevents driver control over the vehicle when stopping. the stalling occurs when coming to a stop or stopping, and when performing strong turns. these types of turns are done frequently at intersections with on coming traffic. it is very dangerous because you don't even have the ability to restart the vehicle to escape the danger.
The fuel pump was replaced per recall and now the new external fuel pump is completely failed and my jeep won't start at all. sometimes it will start and other times i will be driving down the road or highway and the vehicle will just stall and turn off on me. someone has to do something about this.
Per recall p54 external fuel pump relay was replaced by dealer. that external relay has now failed and the vehicle stalled driving down the road. owner was able to control vehicle and drive to road side. external relay needs to be replaced with a better design or option to prevent a crash.
Vehicle in motion, but decelerating from higher speed to a stop or lower speed. engine shuts off. no warning/dash lights come on everything else (radio, lights) continue to work. the only way to know the engine is no longer running is the power steering and power brakes don't work and the rpm on the tachometer go to zero. car typically will re-start with no issue, but will almost immediately stop again. when the car sits for about 15-20 minutes, it'll start right up and drive fine. there has not been a pattern, other than slowing down. it's stalled on me the following times and situations: * slowing down to turn right off the highway - was raining, started right up after stall ran fine (2014) * slowing down to a complete stop at an intersection, would restart, but not stay running. waited 20 minutes for towtruck and the vehicle started right up. (2016) * slowing to a stop for light in town, started right up, but would not remain running, waited 20 minutes ran fine (2016) * stalled in stopped traffic. started right up was able to drive to a parking lot but stalled again and would not restart for 15-20 minutes. ran fine once started again. (2017) * stalled in stop and go traffic on i-95 in philadelphia. started right up again, but had to wait 20 minutes for it to remain running (03/2018) * stalled when coming to a stop for stop sign. wouldn't start right up. had to wait 15-20 minutes then it started and ran fine. (09/29/2018) have taken to the jeep dealer on the three earlier occasions, however, they indicate that they are unable to replicate the situation and there are no engine codes to review - therefore they are unable to correct the situation. so i have been driving the vehicle as is, but after the last two times of this occurring i must remedy the issue. assistance will be greatly appreciated.
While in motion at any rate of speed, vehicle will loose power to accelerate (all internal electronics are still active, however, the vehicle stalls). this has happened multiple times resulting in near crashes due to inability to accelerate to pull over. fuel pump replaced recently in 2018, including a transmission fluid change. multiple codes are being thrown which are broad spectrum and unable to be determined. i own this vehicle and require it for work transportation, including the transportation of children. i am terrified that it will happen again and i cannot get over in time to avoid being rear ended or worse. the date selected below is the first time this incident has occurred and continues to happen more than twice a week
Fuel pump relay recall r09 was performed in 2015. relay that was installed during the recall failed in 2018 causing car to stall in heavy traffic and failing to start. created a significant safety hazard as i was left sitting in the middle of a busy intersection in heavy traffic. the recall was supposed to fix this problem. recall was not effective at solving the problem and chrysler is now billing customers for the part and labor that the recall was supposed to fix.
The 2012 jeep grand cherokee will crank with no start. the jeep refuses to fire up, it will crank for long periods of time but will absolutely not start up. could be an electrical issue or fuel pump relay or engine. seems a lot of friends of mine are having the same issue with this very same model. please help me with the defective car.
I have a 2012 jeep grand cherokee - the fuel pump will turn off from time to time while vehicle is in motion. sometimes on the highway as i am traveling 60+ miles per hour . it was diagnosed as a fuel pump relay problem , i discovered that there was an issue and a recall with these vehicles having fuel pump relay problems. i brought it into get fixed and is still turning off while i am driving , causing a very dangerous situation!
Intermittent stalling usually during deceleration. four times in the past 3-months. twice while slowing for a right turn, once while slowing on a downgrade. the vehicle can only be restarted if in park forcing the need to come to a complete stop and shifting into park. the only indication is the loss of engine noise, power steering and confirming using the tachometer. this condition could lead to a rear collision on a busy road way, a roadway with no breakdown lane or trapped in a center land of a multilane road. prior to the current stalling repairs per r09 / nhtsa 15v-115 were implemented. the repairs may not been effective.
My car stalls out while i am driving.
When i try to start jeep it won't start acts like not getting fuel does this randomly after getting started sometimes takes days or minutes it runs fine not battery new not started checked had fuel relays replaced never know when i turn car off if it will happen
Car suddenly accelerated on its own when slowly being driven in reverse in driveway. shot backwards and eventually hit tree and stopped. this was not user error. the floor mat was not stuck. all this was checked.
Car had previously had r09 / nhtsa 14v-115 completed to fix a fuel pump issue. i have had the car in twice since then and informed jeep that it is still having the same issue. the fuel pump has randomly stopped three times since the repair and is now having intermittent no start issues. the dealership could not duplicate and claims there is no issue. we replaced the battery hoping it would solve the issue to no avail. this is a huge safety issue and i have read of multiple people having the same problem. the car restarts each time, but it is the fact that it just randomly shuts off when it wants.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of engine power. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was taken to myrtle beach chrysler jeep located at 785 jason blvd, myrtle beach, sc where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. the contact stated that prior to the failure, the vehicle was remedied under nhtsa campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
While on a nearby highway the vehicle stalled out on me. i was able to get into shoulder and after, immediately after stalling out i attempted to start the car right away, it took about 4 attempts for vehicle to start up again. took vehicle to the dealership they first diagnosed it being an issue with the key fob battery after being replaced the vehicle ran for about a week then the original problem reoccurred. this time in town in the middle of an intersection. vehicle was not able to start and had to get vehicle towed. after taking it bake to the dealer they informed me that there was an issue with the primary and secondary fuel pumps.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle was previously included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system), for which the fuel pump relay was replaced. approximately two years after receiving the repair, the contact began to notice that the vehicle would crank, but failed to start. the contact would have to make several attempts to start the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to chrysler fullerton (located at 1044 us route 22, east summerville, nj, 08876; 908-722-2500) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they were unable to provide another repair. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Car stalled 2 times, towed to jim click jeep in tucson r09. my fuel pump was replaced for $1284 at only 81,230 miles. i believe the go around fix of a cable vs replacing the computer caused my fuel pump to fail prematurely, and i could have been hit when my car stalled 2 times in motion
Suv would not start, towed to a local mechanic, replaced air metering valve, still did not start. was informed by my mechanic there is a recall on the sensor in the fuel tank but i was not told by chrysler anything about this problem when the truck was in the shop four other times for two other recalls. truck must be towed to chrysler so they can look at this problem.
On regular occasion vehicle will fail to start, occasionally vehicle will stall while driving causing lose of power steering and brake assist rendering vehicle hard to control. fuel pump relay recall has been completed and wcm has been replaced.
While jeep is in drive motion, the engine goes off, causing the power steering to become very hard to handle and stalling. problem has escalated. contacted jeep and they made me an appointment at my expense. this is very scary when it happens and you have no warning. it has happened on the interstate as well as county roads.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact stated that the fuel pump fractured and caused a host of electrical failures in the vehicle. in addition, the vehicle would not accelerate and smoke appeared under the hood of the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000.
