Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving, the vehicle hesitate and failed to accelerate. no warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to planet chrysler jeep dodge ram dealer, (400 e central st, franklin, ma 02038, (508) 520-1550) but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was included in nhtsa recall campaign number; 19v813000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact part was not available for the repair. the part needed for the repair will become available within a year and was provided case number. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000. vin tool confirmed part not available. aw

2012 grand cherokee v6. transmission randomly slips to neutral while still in drive without warning. mostly while stopped for light or sign. shifting to neutral and back to get it into drive again. no signs of shifting, sounds, lurching, bumps or grinding. smooth as can be, only way i can tell is the car accelerates. repair shop cannot find a problem.

My jeep has been going into first gear on its on while in motion without me doing anything. it has been occurring for the last 2 years but is now happening with more frequency. it has usually happened after having been stopped at a stop sign or red light and after getting back into motion and up to speed but it has happened while driving without having recently stopped. i am usually in traffic and unable to pull over so i have been having to put it in neutral and then back into drive while in motion.

Just recently bought the car with 50,000 miles on it car is in good condition but only a month after i purchased it a light saying ' service 4wd' has popped up on my dash and ive taken it to several dealers and they say its needs a new transfer case and is a common problem with these cars. if it is a common problem then why has there not been a recall on it, it is pretty ridiculous as much as people pay for a car and the problems that go wrong with it and the manufacturer cant even fix there own problems on the cars that built! there should be a recall for this problem as it is not a cheap fix and is obviously a problem with the manufacturing when the car was built. i am disgusted with how [xxx] and unreliable cars are now a days, something needs to be done! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the transmission unintentionally switched into neutral. the contact mentioned that the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact stated that she moved the gear shifter into neutral and back into drive. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

When driving on the interstate at normal speed, the vehicle jumped out of gear and into neutral while in the passing lane. with no power i almost had a car rear end me before i could put on my flashers and pull over. when i pulled over and restarted the vehicle, it acted normal for a while. before arriving home the vehicle did the same thing again. i took the vehicle to a repair shop and was told that the transmission oil cooler had started leaking and the vehicle was low in transmission fluid. however, with this vehicle there is no way to check the transmission fluid level and there was not a lot of fluid leakage found where car is normally parked. this needs to be recalled before someone gets injured!

At various times, when car is cranked and put into drive, the automatic transmission gets stuck in gear and gears do not change automatically. very little power when trying to drive from being stopped. however when car is turned off and cranked back up it sometimes resets the issue electronically.

Transmission cooler/condenser leak causes loss of tranmission fluid but you can't check the fluid level because there is a tamper proof cap on the transmission fluid level dip stick. transmission got hot, truck slipped gears and loss of forward momentum control. this should be a recalled item but is not.

Transmission fluid leak coming from a/c condenser/transmission cooler. significant leakage leading to poor transmission performance such as slippage and vehicle jerking on acceleration or deceleration. also jerks when putting into gear from park.

I have less than 76k miles on my jeep. i have been the only owner, taking exceptional care of my jeep, always getting oil changes on time and maintenance with very few city miles on my jeep and i am having to pay 10k for a new motor and camshaft.

An unintentional shifting of the transfer case the 4 wheel drive its on and cant take it off, all started with the vehicle been stationary.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that there was a leak in the transmission cooler and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to teterboro chrysler jeep dodge ram (located at 469 us-46, little ferry, nj 07643) where it was determined that there was no recall. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 59534039. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Driving from the gas station to the highway when the rear air suspension failed to shut off and overinflated causing the forward mounts on the rear subframe to be ripped out of the body of the car which cause the subframe to crash into the exhaust, transfer case, and drive shaft which immobilized the vehicle. no injuries occurred luckily as the vehicle had not made it to the highway when the failure occurred.

Transmission fluid leak coming from a/c condenser/transmission cooler. significant leakage occurring leading to problematic transmission performance such as slippage and vehicle jerking on acceleration or deceleration. it appears this is a known issue with these models of jeep grand cherokee and this type of component failure should not be considered normal wear and tear. this should be taken care of under a manufacturer recall of the problematic areas before serious issues arise.

Car began to sputter and rise in rpms and missing gear going into nuetral and causing dangerous situations in traffic runs at 2 rpms in ideal standpoint now car is leaking fluids and service 4wheel drive lights on i read that there are recalls for this issue in other keeps but not for my vin number and this is a manufacturer problem

Had to have alternator and batter replaced at 54,000 miles. two weeks after completing this repair, the batter light came on while driving. after turning off all electrical components, was able to get the vehicle to repair shop. upon inspection by the mechanic, the power train control module was no longer working. the mechanic had to replace the power train control module. in addition, 3 days later, the alternator had to be replaced again due to the failure of the power train control module.

Transmission cooler/ac condenser leak at tube joints

While in traffic transmission starts to kick as if trying to get into gear.. only happens while in slow traffic of about 10-20 mph.. at normal running speeds all is well. i don't know if any known transmission recalls exist for my vehicle

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 50 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle decelerated without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer (liechty dodge, 5080 academy ln, bessemer, al 35022, (205) 432-7995) for a recall repair concerning the alternator. the dealer diagnosed that there was a transmission fluid leak. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and was informed that it was not included in the alternator recall. the nhtsa campaign information was unavailable. the failure mileage was 131,000.

A/a trans condenser leak. faulty condenser unit

Hello, was hoping you could guide me. i have been having issues with my jeep shutting off while driving. i could be on the freeway at a light or exiting the freeway and it shuts off. this issue has been going since the end of 2016. i decided to take it to another dealer they now say they have found a problem, but now jeep is saying since i am over my miles they cannot cover the charges. can you please help? *tt *tr

With only 50,800 miles check engine light produced several codes. i took this vehicle to 3 different places for a diagnostic test. they said it was power steering / a/c coolant leaking. with the 2nd diagnoses they found a leak with the auxiliary cooler (transmission fluid). so i had a complete transmission flush work done, but it's still leaking..

The ability to manually downshift the automatic transmission while driving anywhere failed at about 63,000 miles. this necessitates the use of only the brakes to slow the vehicle when driving down hill. because the brake rotors are undersized, this causes the rotors to warp.

2012 jeep grand cherokee. consumer writes in regards to vehicle brake booster recall repairs. *smd consumer sent additional correspondence. *ld the consumer stated on 02/15/2018 the vehicle stalled without warning making the vehicle inoperable. the dealerships resolution was replacing the electro-hydrualic power steering and the amp alternator per recall. *tr

A week ago my battery light came on in my car on my way home. luckily i was able to get home before it died. we drove my car to an independent mechanic that we always go to get it diagnosed. my mechanic said i made it just in time because when they went to start my vehicle it was completely dead. they diagnosed that i had a bad battery and replaced it. they also identified that the alternator was bad and said there was a recall on it (i never received a recall notice on this part though). my car was towed to a nearby chrysler dealership and they completed all the open recalls on it, including the alternator belt. then my car was towed back to my independent mechanic. after my mechanic ran my car for 20 minutes the car shut off and it was found that the powertrain control module shorted. i immediately called chrysler customer service to report the issue. it has been over a week and i have spoken to 5 different customer service agents. every single one has told me something different and a different process i have to follow. my car has been towed back to the dealership and just sitting there. it has been over a week since i have had my car. i just heard from a customer service agent today that the car has to be diagnosed by the dealership and they have to declare that the pcm is not working. i have no idea what will happen after that. i am really trying to get them to pay for this and not go through a reimbursement process because i don't have faith i will actually get reimbursed in the end. i am so disgusted with the treatment chrysler has given me. they obviously are trying everything to get out of paying this. well they picked the wrong person to mess with, i will not back down.

Intermittent stalling usually during deceleration. four times in the past 3-months. twice while slowing for a right turn, once while slowing on a downgrade. the vehicle can only be restarted if in park forcing the need to come to a complete stop and shifting into park. the only indication is the loss of engine noise, power steering and confirming using the tachometer. this condition could lead to a rear collision on a busy road way, a roadway with no breakdown lane or trapped in a center land of a multilane road. prior to the current stalling repairs per r09 / nhtsa 15v-115 were implemented. the repairs may not been effective.

There is a very common weld issue from chrysler for the ac condenser which also doubles as the automatic transmission cooler. there is a change.org petition of drivers https://www.change.org/p/chrysler-for-chrysler-recall-faulty-ac-condenser-transmission-cooler?utm_medium=email&utm_source=petition_signer_receipt&utm_campaign=triggered&j=249626&sfmc_sub=346265647&l=32_html&u=45511404&mid=7233052&jb=145277 about the same issue and the repair is $1000+ jeep must do a recall and correct this problem on their own!

My 2012 jeep grand cherokee (automatic transmission) will slip out of gear and then lurch and jerk forward as it goes back in. the entire car will shutter when this happens. this occurs often, both at low speeds on city streets and at higher freeway speeds. i will also lose power entirely when i am trying to accelerate on a freeway entrance ramp. the dealer said there is no issue, that the car just needed a bit more transmission fluid. this did not change anything. moreover, it has happened while the transmission fluid was full. two days ago, the car shifted into neutral while i was driving on a freeway going 65 mph with my young daughter in the car. it was terrifying. depressing the accelerator pedal did nothing. we were then almost struck by another car as i coasted over to the shoulder. additionally, while driving the car home after this occurred, it again shifted into neutral while i was going about 30mph on a city street. when i pushed on the gas pedal, the engine revved loudly, but gave me no power to move forward. again i coasted to the side of the road. jeep is denying that there is a dangerous transmission issue with this car, but i have found numerous statements online from jeep owners experiencing the exact same thing. moreover, i spoke to a transmission specialist who said he has seen this often with the grand cherokees. he stated that if there is not a recall yet, there should be. please look into to this issue. this is going to cost people their lives if it is not addressed soon.

Coolant on jeep went to 245 red light went on.white smoke with bad smell out of the exhaust and no heat.burning smell outside of car..took the car to petboys. they filled it with antifreeze and said it could be the head gasket ..took it to jeep dealer ran test said it was fine...4 days later went to 245 again burning smell and white smoke out of exhaust.. filled it with antifreeze again.drove on highway and local streets...i'm afraid the jeep will go on fire..please help, me..thank you

I own a 2012 jeep grand cherokee vin: [xxx] for the past several months since purchase, the jeep has had issues starting and has stalled while driving at high rates of speed. this vehicle is not safe to currently drive and i am getting nowhere with the dealership (performance jeep: delaware, ohio https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.html when clicking on this link and entering the vin below it shows the recalls completed for our jeep. the 2nd .pdf attachment (attached) shows the tipm recall was completed on 2/24/15. our car is continuing to stall. ?the totally integrated power module (tipm) on your vehicle contains an internal fuel pump relay that could operate intermittently or fail without warning. an intermittent or failed fuel pump relay could cause the engine to stall while driving and cause a crash without warning. what your dealer will do... fca will repair your vehicle free of charge. your dealer will install an external fuel pump relay.? carfax attached. first, a chrysler dealer tried reprogramming the computer module and then had to replace it in 2013. prior to the february 2015 recall. (i assume what they identify as the engine/powertrain computer/module is the tipm module ?i.e., the totally integrated power module.) issue 1 in august 2015, they replaced the fuel pump relay (i.e., the recall work). 2nd issue then, in april 2016, they tried to reprogram the engine powertrain computer module again, and again failed and had to replace it. third issue we are now having issues with the vehicle: fourth issue, still not fixed after taking it to performance jeep on 3 occasions. there has been a class action law suit with a settlement. as i understand those terms, they include an extended warranty on fuel pump repairs for up to 7 years/70,000 miles. we are well under the 7 years/70,000 miles. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While driving home from work during rush hour traffic on the highway, the red battery light came for the first time since i owned the vehicle. within minutes of the light appearing, the jeep's air conditioning went off, all warning lights appeared on the dashboard and the windshield wipers turned on (without prompting them). all three of these things happened within seconds of each other so i tried to pull over to the side of the highway but the jeep lost all power and stalled in the right lane of the highway. there was absolutely zero power so i was unable to turn my hazard lights on or put the car in neutral to roll to the breakdown lane (see attached picture). i then had to exit the jeep into oncoming rush hour traffic in the left lane and luckily made it safety to the shoulder where i called 911 and triple a for a tow. the jeep was towed to my local mechanic who said the alternator failed and that he had to unplug it from the battery since it was still producing excessive heat hours after it arrived there. i then called the fca customer service and referenced recall t36, since the exact same thing happened as the description provided (although i did not have any recalls on my vin). they put me in touch with the local jeep dealership to set up an appt so i paid for another tow there. the next day i receive a call from the service dept that my alternator failed, which drained my battery, which broke my module powertrain control computer totaling $2,134 in repairs. they cannot confirm nor deny that my jeep is part of recall t36, but regardless since my vin does not have any recalls on it, that i have to pay in full and that if down the road there is a recall that i will get reimbursed. i then call the fca customer service back and they check their internal system and confirm that i am not part of recall t36 and there are no outstanding recalls for my jeep.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. while the vehicle was parked with the air conditioner and radio still operable, the contact exited the vehicle. upon returning to the vehicle, he noticed that the air conditioner and radio stopped working, but the windshield wiper blades were moving at slow speed. the contact shifted into drive, but the vehicle was moving slowly and the steering wheel seized. the vehicle was stopped, shifted into park, turned off, and failed to restart. the voltage warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a faulty alternator and battery that needed replacement. the parts were replaced, but the mechanic noticed that the computer was damaged and could not be repaired. the vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic who diagnosed that the pcm needed replacement and there was an alternator recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact had the vehicle towed to jt chrysler dodge ram of lexington (located at 4838 sunset blvd, lexington, sc 29072 (803) 957-2010) for repairs. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v674000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was 113,002.

While driving on freeway, battery warning light lit up, followed by (incorrect) error messages on instrument cluster menu that driver seatbelt was unfastened. all electrical equipment in the vehicle ceased operation, including ac and stereo. i pulled off of freeway and opened hood to find the alternator smoking heavily. this was the exact same failure situation described in chrysler recall p60, but because my alternator was 180amp instead of 160amp, it was not covered by the p60 recall. the alternator had to be replaced. the alternator failure also resulted in a blown-out pcm, which had to be replaced. this is an extremely dangerous failure that could have caused a car fire, or traffic accident. chrysler recall p60 should include the 180amp alternators, as well, because they have the same fault and safety issues.

180 amp alternator experienced catastrophic failure causing total loss of all power, battery failure, pcm failure and smoking and burning smell from engine compartment. experienced loud whinning from alternator while driving immediately prior to failure. ultimate failure occured as car pulled into parking spot. this is the same issue experienced by 160 amp alternator under recall. it is extremely dangerous and chrysler/jeep should be required to fix these issues.

Takata recall leather on the dashboard comes loose, i've taken it to jeep to repair and it happend again. the adhesive dissolves and makes the leather bunch up. the front left headlight blinks for a few seconds every time engine starts. engine stalls and doesn't start at times.

While driving on a regular street or highway vehicle tends to lose power and will not accelerate. when vehicle begins to accelerate it jerks. *tr

When driving the vehicle within the first 20-45 minutes of starting, the vehicle will stall while driving when slowing down. the vehicle is still at speed but the engine stalls leaving no power steering or brakes. this occurs when slowing typically but can occur at speeds of up to 30-40mph. this happens almost daily at this point and seems to be getting worse. *tr

Issue: transmission fault leads to unexpected "creep mode" in drive, over-pressurized trans expels trans fluid onto manifold leading to engine fire. details: when stopped & idling in drive for period of time, transmission goes into creep mode of some sort & when trying to accelerate from stop it does not move. this can happen at a left-turn red-light and when least expected, having disastrous results. transmission failure from over-pressurization already led to trans fluid being expelled from dipstick tube onto engine manifold resulting in an engine fire. owner was easily able to replicate the problem by sitting in drive for 7-8 minutes & then attempting to accelerate. videotaped evidence shows the trans is at normal operating temp, yet tachometer is shooting up to 25,000rpm's & car only creeps forward. at that moment smoke began pouring out from under the vehicle as once again fluid was being expelled onto manifold. only this time owner did not open the hood so the lack of influx of fresh o2 did not ignite fluid like it did the first time. vehicle is under 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty & jeep dealer entered diagnosis and request to "replace transmission, cooler, o2 sensor, & wiring harness" which fca usa, llc rejected. fca rrefuses to say why. dealer has held vehicle now for 2months & 2weeks while dealer tries to convince fca to replace defective drivetrain. fca refuses to supply written documentation of why claim is being rejected. fca sent out a "special investigator" (for fires) who without meeting the service mgr or authorized drivetrain tech, serve determines it is not under warranty. yet he knows nothing of transmissions & spoke to no one at dealer about their diagnosis and issue. vehicle is unsafe as it will fail to accelerate without notice at anytime & continued exposure to over-pressurized transmission and expelled trans fluid could result in fire. *tr

To whom it may concern: i would like to formally report what i consider a critical flaw with my 2012 9jeep grand cherokee equipped with the pentastar v6 engine. i have had multiple instances of unintended acceleration by the engine in the past 45 days. the most recent event resulted in my damaging vehicle's wheel as well as nearly hitting a parked vehicle. i have 85533 miles on my car and this flaw has only manifested itself in the past 3 days (85533miles). i have contacted my local dealer concerning this issue, but have been told that in order to look into this obvious safety defect, i am required to pay for their diagnostic time. i feel that the manufacturer of a product that has such a blatant safety risk should be appreciative of being informed of such a defect, and certainly take responsibility for it. sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

There is a leak at the transmission cooler. looking on line, this appears to be a common problem. i notices the problem when i tried to accelerate up a hill and the transmission would not shift to the proper gear, and the car slowed and i pulled off to the side of the road to not block traffic. this was dangerous and i was not happy. i turned the car off and on, and it seemed to work fine. the dealer service department located the problem to be the transmission oil cooler leak causing low transmission fluid/oil and making the car not shift properly. i was driving/accelerating up hill at the time. the jeep dealer at folsom california has the car now.

My jeep cuts off when i'm driving and stalls at times the check engine light has been on also since i purchased it. was told the codes had to be reset. took vehicle to dealer over 10 times after i purchased it dealer sent it out other places seen nothing turned off codes it seemed ok then every since then it does the same thing over and over now my warranty is out they see an issue i had extended but they only repaired recalls they say but my lights still fog from the recall and electrical still issue!

This is the letter i sent to chrysler: i'm the owner of a jeep grand cherokee 2012, with vin [xxx] as i was repairing a flat tire i noticed something very strange and very dangerous happening in my vehicle. i?m a mechanical engineer by trade and in my 60 years of life i have seen and work on a lot of different cars and i know that can happen in situations similar to this. the portion of the visible threads on the front axle came out of the shaft like removing a sleeve and crumbled like bread crumbs what is to say that the portion of the thread engaged with the nut on the shaft (which isn't visible at this stage) won't have the same end results? what can happen to a car driving 65 ml/h on a highway when a front wheel will fall out? is my car just a black sheep? is the lot that my car was produced something out of ordinary? the amount of rust has destroyed the threads on the visible part of the axle. in my opinion this is a disaster waiting to happen. i have purchased extended warranty when i purchased my vehicle and i will be at the dealer tomorrow to repair it i would like chrysler to evaluate the problem and take the necessary actions to fix the problem preventing life's being lost. as you can see from the photos there are no signs of threads left on the axles. evaluate better. if you like to send me to one specific representative of your company in my area for evaluation please let me know right way. my contact information will be below. a copy of this letter will be sent to ntsb for the records. i hope that i'm wrong and your experts will evaluate, but i have to do this report to i can have a clear conscience that did what i thought is the best. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle was able to start but failed to shift out of park. in addition, the windshield wipers failed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who indicated that the transmission module, the wiper motor and the (tipm) totally integrated power module failed. the vehicle was repaired. the contact was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v115000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Engine revs up intermittently with no explanation, have discussed with dealer and they must be able to duplicate before covering under warranty. dealer admits this is a warrantable issue. problem is is that it only happens every 2000 to 4000 miles. virtually imnpossible to duplicate. severe hazard while driving on highway. have to pull over and restart car tp cprrect problem.

Oxygen sensor shorted out the powertrain control module causing the engine to almost stall out and engine light to come on and flash. had to replace oxygen sensor and powertrain control module. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. while parked with the engine running, the vehicle rolled away without warning. the vehicle crossed the street and crashed into a fence. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was shut off and towed to an independent mechanic. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 53,000. the vin was not provided.

Day 1....car just stopped out of no where a picture of a battery showed up and the car just stopped and shut down on its own day 2....took car in to get a new battery because that was totally dead but on day 3...the battery did not fix the problem the car once again shut down on me and this time it was in the middle of the freeway i was stuck for a couple of hours cant even jump the car cuz it still wont start it so i had to get it towed off the freeway.. midday of day 3 discovered it was the alternator and finds out there were for 4 recalls on my car so i took it to the jeep dealership. they stated they can only fix 3 out of 4 of the recall due to not having all the parts and informed me it will be done before the day is over. 4:30pm came around and i called to check in on the car to see if it was ready the worker stated yes come pick it up so i did and when i was almost home the same problem the car shut down on me so i called the dealership to take the car back in before it fully shut down altogether. day 4....dealership called me about 11am and stated ok theres nothing wrong with it and i can go pick it up so i stated ok but about an hour later when i was about to be on my way the dealership stated wait do not come pick it up yet because there is something with the computer system of the car and that the steering power is not connecting to the alternator and is shutting the car down but the part to fix it wont be in til tommorrow. day 5..still waiting for my car to be fixed..... please if there is anyway i can just simply swap this lemon with a different car that would be great i have a 4 year old and this is a safety hazard and according to one of the recall the car can crash without notice.... help me pleaseeeeeee...updated 08/06/15 *bf updated 12/23/2015*js

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle jerked. the failure recurred multiple times without warning. the contact received a notice for nhtsa campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system) and stated that the parts were unavailable. the dealer was uncertain when the parts would become available to service the vehicle under the recall. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14373000 (electrical system, air bags); however, the part needed to do the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to produce the part for the recall repair. in addition, while driving at any speed, the vehicle hesitated and lunged forward. the failure recurred multiple times. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

3/28/2015 (20,924 miles): this is the second time my 2012 jeep grand cherokee has stalled when i put it in reverse after starting. i started the jeep and put it in reverse and i began to back out of a parking space and it stalled. however, when i looked at the display showed that the jeep was in park, however the shift lever was still in reverse, and the radio was still on like the car electronics were on. i moved the shift lever back into park. i pushed the start/stop button but i could not get the vehicle instruments or radio to shut off. i tried several attempts to start the vehicle, however it just clicked once and the starter did not engage. while my foot was on the brake, i put the gear shift in reverse and then back into park. i again tried to push the start/stop button and this time it just kept cranking but failed to start. the vehicle started to roll while the dash displayed p and i was in a level parking lot. when i stepped on the brakes they were hard to press. i used my phone to call moss bros service and they transferred me to the moss motors riverside, ca service center. i explained my situation but all service advisors were busy. i waited on the line for over 11 minutes and someone came back on the line and told me that someone would call me back. see call log from phone records below. i explained to the operator that if i could not get the vehicle to turn off that the battery would eventually go dead. after waiting on hold all this time i attempted to push the start/stop button one more time and this time all controls seem to shut off. i pushed the start/stop button again and the vehicle did start this time.
