I purchased my 2011 jeep grand cherokee overland last year from a toyota dealer. only because no other dealers had one with saddle interior. so far the radiator needed to be replaced because it cracked leaking fluid and recently the push button starter went.is there a recall on the push button starter malfunctioning?
These problems are random. first alrm has gone off twice, the day light running lights don't always come on. the car does not always recognize the key. the dom elight on the drivers side flickers some times. this mourning the clock on the radio showed an invalid time, swithed radio off, and back on, it went to the correct time. took to machanic designated by the dealer we bought this from 2 weeks ago and he found no issues. the milage is 92000. i will change the battery out this week, and see if that corrects these issues. we had similar issues with or 2005 lincoln ls when it had a weak battery.

Today, monday, march 6th, 2017; i was driving to work; a couple of miles from my house my vehicle stalled without warning. luckily for me, it was a low-speed area and i was able to stop on the side of the road. my truck did not turn on again despite several attempts. i called a tow and it took it to a shop. i left the truck the entire day. at the end of the day they gave it back to me saying it worked again and that apparently there was a mal-function with the relay system. they said the gas-pump was not working and suddenly when they were checking the tpim it worked by itself. they could only recommend to take it to the dealer for a more profound check. i recalled i got a carfax not so long ago and going back to it i found out about the tpim failures... this is a very serious issue and with a very high risk of serious injury to the vehicle occupants. i work in manufacturing supplying parts to different oem's and in the pfmea (potential failure mode and effects analysis) this would have a severity of 10!!! i will file all the complaints and will call the nhts to get my tpim replaced asap! i really hope they can make this quickly. if i can get another car i will do but i will not take my family on the truck for sure.

Vehicle lost power while driving at speeds of 55mph. check engine light and multiple system warnings were shown by evic, including abs, traction control, ignition system, 4wd system, and air suspension system. braking power was severely diminished. maximum speed was reduced to 5mph, before stalling out after 10 feet. the cause of the issue was a short in the crankshaft position sensor that disabled all powertrain and braking systems. all systems share the same 5 volt circuit into pcm.
While decelerating and making a turn the vehicle has shut off which causes you to lose steering and braking. this has happened to me on 4 seperate occasions
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. while stationary, the alternator overheated and the battery caught fire. the contact stated that smoke appeared under the hood. in addition, the pcm had to be replaced. the fire extinguished on its own. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the fire. the failure mileage was 50,800. updated 03/16/17*lj *cn
The vehicle started to rattle and shake while running. when stopped on a red light the wiper came on and the vehicle turned it self off. after 2 tries to restart the vehicle i smelled burned rubber and opted to turn on the hazard lights and abandon the vehicle to safety to wait for a tow truck. the hazard lights lasted less than 2 minutes before dying completely. i was stranded on a 3 lane avenue without any hazard lights or any public lighting. when the tow truck finally came in the car was been pulled up the flatbed the rear door unlocked itself and all the papers where dispersed thru the avenue at night. we had to shut the door with duct tape and take it home. next day the truck was taken to the mechanic where he first tried changing the battery (which was less than 6 month old) and he noticed that the positive cable turned cherry red. he proceeded to remove the battery and to follow the cables. he found a main cable close to the alternator in the engine compartment that the covering had pealed off and was making contact with the body. he proceeded to change this and also found out the alternator had been fully burned out (although i did not see fire or sustancial smoke i did feel that nasty plastic/rubber smoke scent) . he told us he didn't understand how this vehicle had not caught fire during this incident due to the wiring failure. after replacing the cable, alternator and battery it now seems the ecu or other electronic component was also damaged during the incident. i have learned of other vehicles (same year model milage) with similar problems, one of them had to use a fire extinguisher for its alternator.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine start switch malfunctioned. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 29,000.
Our 2011 jeep grand cherokee has been stalling while driving. in the last 2 months it has shut off at least 1-2 times a week, for about a total of 8 times. fuel pump relay was fixed in 2014 but we think this is the problem again. other electrical issues like keys not recognized are also happening but the car shutting off in the middle of an intersection is alarming. this has happened at least 3 times. the car has always stalled in the morning as my husband makes his way to work. my husband reports it happens often as he is trying to turn and driving on a street. he is currently risking his life driving this car to work. *tr
I had schedule an appointment with dewey dodge, ram, chrysler, jeep in ankeny ia on 09/29/16 to address the visor recall. at that time i was told they are lost part of the kit needed for the repair. i scheduled another appointment on 11/11/6 and was told they were still waiting for chrysler to send what they needed. a month and a half seems an unreasonably long time, especially when compared to how little time it takes when the dealer has to order parts to address a maintenance issue.
Vehicle has shut off while driving a number of times. two incidents were while i was sitting idle at a stop light. two other incidents happened while in motion, slowing down, approaching a stop light or stop sign. there is a recall for a fuel pump relay describing similar situations but my vin shows no such recall.

When the jeep was started it would not shift into gear. also the car could not be turned off. all of the the warning lights on the dash were also on. so the car was left with the engine running but nothing else working. the cooling fan for the engine would not work so the car started to over heat. i called the dealer and asked for suggestions on how to turn off the car. the response was to take off the battery cable. the battery is under the seat and can not be removed with out tools. at this point the car over heated and was pushing out coolant onto the ground. i finally had to open the fuse / relay box in the engine compartment and start pulling relays until the engine turned off. i had no other way of getting the engine to stop running and the fear was something would get hot enough to catch on fire. all of this resulted in over $1600.00 dollars in damage.

2/9/16 i remote started the jeep for about 3 minutes while i gathered my stuff up to leave. i drove the car approximately 4 miles. at the stop light i noticed my steering wheel was locked. i put my hazards on, put the car in park and started it up again. the car started just fine. 2/13/16 i drove for about 3 miles and as i was going downhill and i was slowing down to turn right the car stalled. if there was not a concrete curb in the turn lane i would have hit the cars sitting at the stop light. i had no breaks and the curb stopped my car. 8/20/16 i get in the car get on the freeway which is mile from our house. we drive approximately 6 miles (speed limit 70 mph) as i take an exit ramp and my car stalls right before i hit the stop light. my car has never shown an code and no one dealership knows what to do. from my research stalling is a major issue with 2011 jeep grand cherokees. i have never had a car stall on me until i got this car. i got new key fob batteries in february 2016 and sometimes the car will not start and i will get an error saying "key not detected"

Jeep gc2011 stalls whiling driving. ongoing since 2012; mechanics have done a lot of service and repair very costly out of my pocket expences but has not fixed the stalling. says it maybe the alternator, throttle or ignition problem. the 2011 model should be included in the chrysler recall #t36 (nhtsa #17v435).
1st the sensor for "key not detected" displayed.i had it fixed at the dealership. shortly after, it returned but this time all the sensors on the dash lit up and the vehicle transmission dropped in gear. almost got rear ended by a truck on the highway.the speedometer shut down and the wipers turned on. i pulled over and turned off the vehicle. once it finally restarted, it would not get off the park gear. finally after 4 attempts it restarted and i was able to drive home. it died in my driveway. would not restart .i had it towed to the dealer. its been there for approx. 2 weeks. they said they cant find the problem and have called they're techs at they're corporate head quarter's to assist them. according to many forums on line this seems to be a common problem. this should be a recall. the dealer admitted to finding a melted part. this is a costly repair that they claim my warranty will not cover! my vehicle dramatically dropped in speed while driving on a major highway. if that's not considered a safety issue and the fact that there is an obvious fire hazard with the dash or the fuse box is insane!! there is a high potential for an electrical fire to break out due to a faulty design. the vehicle is electronic and the transmission has features that changes the operation of the vehicle while driving! i would like to see anyone drive in front of a tractor trailer on a major highway and suddenly drop the transmission to 1st gear (high rpm and dramatically drops speed) and see how all of the sudden you can create a major accident like i almost did! this needs to be looked into.
Alternator has failed. charging fault and battery fault light came on shortly before vehicle died completely. upon replacing battery, vehicle started but battery did not charge and died again while driving causing a stall in traffic without sufficient charge to power hazard flashers necessitating a tow truck to come and remove vehicle.
I took my 2011 grand cherokee to the dealer for the normal maintenance. however, there were a couple of recalls so i asked them to take care of them. recalls were related to the fuel pump relay and to the sun visor (which apparently can short-circuit and cause a fire). there was a firmware update for the tipm also so i got that done too. 3 weeks later, i get on my car, i put the ignition to on and the wipers went on, i tried to turn them off and i couldn't. this is a list of all the symptoms: - turn signals not working - rear wiper not working - front wipers on - traction control off and no way to turn it back on - buttons on the steering wheel not working, none of them, except for the ones that control the radio - heated steering wheel, tow/haul, traction control and 110v plug switches not responding - interior lights not working - headlights worked but no way to control high or low beams i did some research online, found that some other people were having the same issue and some of them said that they had the issue resolved by leaving the battery unplugged overnight, it didnt work. i took the wipers out (since i couldn't turn them off) and took my car to the dealer (without turn signals). they've had the car for 2 days already, yesterday they called me back and told me they were still trying to determinate the issue but that it could be a defective tipm. i have no idea of how much this is going to cost to get fixed but the truth is, i got this car 2 months ago, looked perfectly fine, very well maintained and now i will probably have to put more money out of my pocket to get this thing resolved. reading on the forums i have also become aware of the big safety issues that a faulty tipm may cause, read of people's cars stalling in the middle of traffic! i am really concerned now about my safety and i wish i didn't buy this car.
Was slowing down from 50 mph to make a left hand turn. as i was entering the turn, at about 30 mph, the engine shut off. all dash lights still functional, radio was still on, turn signal still on. there was no sputtering. lost power steering and power braking (and any other items that are not functional while in "run" mode). shifted to "neutral", but it would not start because the transmission was not in "park". pulled to the side and stopped the vehicle, put it in "park". started like nothing had happened. there were no warning lights before shutdown, there are no service lights or obd ii codes stored in computer. was using the push button starter, the key fob was in my pocket.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v879000 (electrical system) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. the dealer indicated in mid june of 2016 that the part may become available in august of 2016, which then changed to december of 2016. the manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. the contact was not experiencing a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

On june 5, 2016 @ 2:00am i was awakened by popping sounds from outside. i got up to see an orange ball of light, i went to the window and felt the heat from it and seen my jeep was on fire. if not for the fire department showing up my house would have likely burned also. the car was parked under the carport in the driveway and no one was driving it the previous day.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. while driving at unknown speeds, the headlights, windshield wipers, and instrument panel illuminated. the check engine warning indicator also illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was still at the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin and failure mileage were unknown.
On friday evening and saturday morning we start the vehicle and the key became extremely hot to the touch after pulling out of ignition. the key has never done this before. we tried the spare key and it did same thing. we turned car for awhile, tried a couple hours later key was not hot. sunday morning went to start car drove awhile key became hot. we filed a complaint last week about the dashboard and the lights flickering, the lights and tire light and gas light still flickering.

The sun visors on the passenger side caught on fire the lining was burned, the compass on the dashboard was out as well. also i have been having a problem with the driver airbag light it has been turning on and off for the past 3 years. i have taken it multiple times to the dealership service to get fixed and they are unaware of the problem. it is a safety issue because if i was to get in an accident the airbag will not deploy.
