My jeep stalls every month or every month. i have brought it to the dealership for over a year regarding this issue. jeep stalls while driving at low and high rate of speeds. this mostly happens to me at high rate of speed. my road is a 50 mph road and i have had to pull off to the side of the road and restart my jeep. this is very dangerous no matter what road i am on, but i do live on a major road which has lots of traffic. the dealership cannot seem to find what is the cause of this stalling and says no codes show in the computer. i put the latest stalling episode above. chrysler really needs to step-up and fix this issue. i am not the only one with this problem. *tr

Driving on an onramp to the garden state parkway truck shut off and lost all power to motor.. had to cost to side of highway and try to restart vehicle.. this put me in danger of not only causing a major highway crash leading to injury and death but also had to figure out what is still wrong with this truck.. the only way to start this vehicle is to come to a complete stop.. put it into park... remove the key fob ... re insert key fob and truck starts right back up... since 2008 i have filled reports of this exact problem happening.. and no fix has come from jeep or a recall forcing action of these jeep grand cherokees.. in researching this problem i have found this has been a common problem in the jeep grand cherokee line going back to 2007 and still you or chrysler corporation has not taken action. please my life as well as others driving on the road could be saved be a recall to address this very serious issue ... i ask you will it take me death or the death of others to get a response from some one. Yet again the jeep dies out while driving and eventually does not start. had it repaired in june 2014. today 7/14/14 it will not start again. i looked up recalls and see that there was an exact match to our problems. several years ago we had the locked windshield wiper problems too. i called jeep the 1st time it happened and they said although our problem was identical to the recall, our serial number was not involved. they nee to expand the recall based on the problems or people will be harmed in accidents due to the faulty vehicle. the jeep just shuts off while driving and you lose your steering and can cause a crash. i narrowly avoided one several times. please look in to this. many online complaints identical to mine. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 40 mph, the power shut off, the steering wheel seized, and the electronic throttle control warning indicator illuminated. the failure recurred. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v567000 (electrical system) however, the parts was unavailable to perform the repairs. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

The ignition on my jeep went out of it's normal operating position to acc position after the key was accidentally bumped. the car was in motion at the time. steering locked up and the accelerator was disabled. and just a few days ago the same thing happened. this time my car rolled at a slow speed into another car due to lack of brakes. luckily, no damage or injuries in that case either. i assume the recent recall for jeep grand cherokees up to 2007 for the same reason will be extended to the 2008 models. *tr

Has been happening off and on since purchasing car used about 2 years ago. driving down the road, usually bumpy road, car turns off- dead. have had it fixed twice before. found to be key and ignition switch (april 2013) now doing it again. dealership reported to me similar problem with a dodge caravan. report they cannot figure out what is wrong with it since it is intermittent problem. will do this at various speeds. very random. *tr

When attempting to turn vehicle off the key becomes trapped in the ignition and will not come out until the key turned to the on then to off position several times. at times the vehicle starts on its own even without the key in the ignition at all and there are times when the vehicle is running and in drive on the roadway that you hear the ignition area by the key clicking again and again. this causes the alarm system light to come on and flash then go off and no after driving the vehicle it seems to be happening more frequently and becoming harder to get the key out of the ignition. so far the vehicle has not stalled out while driving but i am afraid to drive it much since out of fear this may happen with me my wife and three children inside. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the starter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the battery was replaced, but the failure recurred after several repairs. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v567000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

Purchased the vehicle used with approximately 57,000-58,000 miles in 2011. two separate front end collisons at above 35 mph with deer in rural area. no air bag ever deployed in may 2014 with mileage at approximately 109,852 the key would lock in the ignition and could not be removed. car was still running, dash lights would stay on and shifter could be moved. took to maloy ford in jasper, alabama. they "repaired" using a "win kit - transmitters and win" it has been working since that time. question: is the ignition repaired? is the electrical system still in need of the recall part that was not yet available at time of notification of recall? *tr

Key would be locked in ignition airbags do not deploy at collisions above 35 mph. *tr

Air bag did not deploy in two separate front end collisions key locked in ignition and could not be removed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at 5-10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 40,500 and the current mileage was 41,088. updated 9/4/14*cn the dealer installed a new ignition module. updated 11/18/14

When turning off the jeep the key won't release for sometimes 10 min up to not at all and i must disconnect the battery. this has been happening 9 months, when it first happened i took it to the jeep dealer they charged me about $200.00 for a diagnostic test that told us nothing, so i paid to have them tell me they had no idea what was wrong but offered to sell me parts that they thought might help but no guarantee. i called chrysler to see if anyone else had this problem or if there was a recall, they said no. about october i got the recall in the mail saying when the had the parts they would contact me. today after being stranded for the third time with a dead battery i called chrysler to see if parts are in to do the repair, they said no had no idea of when they will be. this is my only transportation and i have medical issues that have put me i the hospital 3 times, i need reliable transportation. chrysler rep said the will not supply a rental or replacement vehicle while they figure this out. what am i to do. *js

While driving vehicle suddenly stalled wouldn't restart for several tries then finally did. never stalled again until recently. sometimes it starts in neutral other times it has to be put in park. upon restart vehicle drives as if nothing has ever happened. it now stalls at idle or when accelerating or even while driving at a steady rate of speed. i have been paying close attention to the key position and it seems normal in the on position and doesn't seem to be the reason behind this erratic stall situation. numerous accounts of similar situations have been noted here and on other websites. i keep my vehicle well maintained and tuned, it runs great. many times weeks or months go by without any stalls. *tr

While driving the vehicle on the hwy all the interior lights on the dashboard flickered on, and then the car lost power. has happened multiple times since the, and we haven't driven it in 3 months. chrysler sent us a recall notice last year, but still has not manufactured a part to replace this safety recall. recall # p57 / nhtsa 14v-567. since this problem started i have wasted time and money trying to have it repaired..... and it keeps on happening. jeep dealers should issue loaner cars, until they have a part to fix this. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact placed the key fob in the off position and was able to restart the vehicle after ten minutes. the failure occurred twice. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 98,000.

I have a 2008 jeep grand cherokee diesel limited two wheel drive. i bought the vehicle with 92,289 miles. at 93,290 miles the check engine light came on which according to the dodge dealership indicated that the eeg valve and battery was bad. so i replaced the gr valve in the battery. periodically since then the check engine light would come on and then go off. on a trip to ohio the engine light came on and the car died on the freeway during a rainstorm. it was towed to a local jeep dealership for diagnosis. the dealership told me that the airflow control valve was bad, but they needed to pull the battery out and disconnect the powertrain control module to get a true reading and make sure it was the airflow control valve. the powertrain control module is located underneath the battery. upon pulling the battery and box the mechanic noted that there was battery acid on the power control module and on the wiring harness that connects to the power control module. i was told that in order to get proper readings the power train control module would have to be replaced as well as the engine wiring harness for a total cost of $2091. and they also indicated that after this was done they would be able to check to see if there were any other problem. i believe all the problems may have been false readings because battery acid had eaten through the powertrain control module and damaged the wiring harness connector, causing false readings when hooked up to the diagnostic machine. i do not have $3000 a month to invest in this vehicle to continue to find additional problems. please help me!!! *tr

Have had nothing but problems with this jeep. purchased it as a certified pre-owned and it has been in the dealer for service a substantial amount. main issue is the car does not start when i turn the key fob. have got towed to the dealership three times with this same issue, once in may 2014, again in july 2014 and again in september 2014. dealer cannot find solution to fix. coincidentally, i receive a notice from chrysler in november 2014, notice number p57 which states there is a recall on the ignition! i went for (3) weeks in may and a full month in july with a loaner! four months after i receive the recall notice, the problem is not fixed. my ''ad hoc'' solution when car does not start is to slam the door with the key in the ignition position. this seems to start the car. pitiful that this is how i must start the car now as there seems to be nothing else i can do... *tr

While traveling at 55 miles per hour on southern blvd. in west palm beach the key turned from the on to the off position. this caused a lockup of the steering and brakes. the automobile returned to full function when the key was turned back to the vertical position. there were no keys or weight hanging from the key and it just clicked off. this condition was recently repaired at arrigo dodge on okeechobee blvd. the key now sticks in the ignition. the radio failed soon after and it was noted that fuse 27 & 28 were covered in lithium grease from the prior repair which stopped the fuse from making contact with the plug. cleaning restored the radio function, but key is still stuck in the ignition. later, the computer stated "key damaged". *js updated 04/13/15. *jb

I have previously entered a similar complaint for this same vehicle. the issue is that the vehicle stalls/shuts off for no reason while driving. chrysler is unable to provide a reliable fix. this began in may 2012 - my vehicle simply shut off while driving in any number of conditions whether it be on the highway, side roads, etc. i removed all excess keys from my key ring to ensure that it was not the key being too heavy. brought this in to my dealership, they replaced the win control module but couldn't guarantee that this would fix the problem. vehicle stalled once while driving unexpectedly about 9 months later. then vehicle stopped twice in october 2013. at that time i brought the vehicle to another dealership. they at first wanted to replace the win module. when i told them that was the fix from before and it didn't work, they advised that the front control module be replaced, as there was a recall on this but my vehicle was one day past the date of manufacturing impact in the recall, but was having the same exact issue. replaced front control module in october 2013. vehicle stopped unexpectedly while driving again twice in march 2014 - on march 20th and march 21st. vehicle is back at the dealer where they again want to replace the win module. again, this fix was provided previously and did not fix the car. either the wins being produced by chyrsler are all faulty and i somehow have gotten 2 in a row or there is an underlying issue that cannot be found or addressed. this issue is very prevalent with 2008 grand cherokees. chrysler is sitting on a very dangerous issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure recurred randomly. the vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics where it was diagnosed that the tipm and fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Beginning immediately upon purchase, the vehicle will shut down (apparently the ignition key /system fails) and the vehicle engine stoops with subsequent loss of power to brakes, steering, etc. this event happens regularly and has placed me in very dangerous circumstances when crossing intersections, merging into traffic and during interstate highway travel at respective speeds. the frequency is two or more times per week, some times per day. this vehicle is unsafe to drive, but i have to have transportation.

Vehicle engine suddenly stopped on hwy at 70 mph (this is the 3rd time it has happened in the last 9 months). i was able to get the vehicle off the hwy. it started up after coming to a stop. i took the vehicle into the dealership and they informed me that they were aware of this problem (had worked on previous grand cherokees and even had the chrysler engineers out to try and help them). they did inspections on my vehicle for 5 days and said they could not duplicate the problem or find anything out from the vehicle computer. they told me to contact chrysler. i was eventually given to a case manager. they initially said they could not do anything and now they keep delaying getting back to me. this has been 2 weeks with no solution in sight. this is a major safety problem and the vehicle should not be driven without some fixes. i also have a 7 yr/100,000 mile platinum wraparound warranty that should cover whatever is wrong. *tr

Went into dealership service center to have "n23" safety recall performed. before n23 software update there was no problem using the 4wd-low function, afterwards the 4wd-low shift function comes up with "service 4wd" code and will not shift into 4wd-low. i discovered this while stuck in a snow drift this weekend. after researching the issue i discovered that many jeep owners that went in for the n23 recall are having the same issue. *tr

I started the vehicle and then pulled out onto the highway. as my speed increase, the fob key clicked to the off position. before i knew what happened i had no power and had to pull to the side. luckily i was in the right hand lane. this has happened maybe 5-6 times so i brought it to the dealer. they could not find a problem not could they duplicate the problem. ironically i just needed to install a new starter motor but the problem still exists and it is happening more often. sometimes i start the car, do not even get a chance to put it into park because the fob key turns to the left into the off position. i am afraid this will eventually cause an accident. *tr

Approximately 10 times, while driving my vehicle at various speeds (10, 30 and 70 mph) my vehicle has stalled. one time, while driving 70 miles, with my children in the car, my vehicle stalled while in the outside lane. i had to get across five lanes of traffic, with no power, including no power steering and i barely made it over. my vehicle has also stalled while pulling out of my development, which is on a road that is posted 45 mph and on a bend. so when i have stalled in the middle of the intersection, i have cars who round the bend at 45 mph and i, and my children, our sitting ducks unable to move. it is only a matter of time before someone gets killed. i brought it the dealership, they kept it for several days and several hundred dollars for them to tell me they do not know what is wrong. two things to note: it always stalls after hitting a bump, and i carry approximately 30 keys and rings on the chain that holds my ignition key. i do not think that this is a coincidence and i take this very seriously. my children, other innocent people, or myself are going to be seriously hurt or killed and i want this investigated aggressively. *tr

Lost 4x4 drive low range. problem is directly related to the "safety recall n23 / nhtsa 13v-175 reprogram final drive controller module" that a jeep service center had preformed. i am from north canada where we have snow from early november to may end it's not safe to travel without functional 4 wheel drive.do we have to wait till someone freezes to death or dies from dehyadration in desert until chrysler do something. *tr

This vehicle has been to the dealer and corporate has been notified. the situation starts when the weather is below freezing or snowing then turns to rain. the sunroof drain does not work properly causing water to pour out of the center ceiling map lights, the garage door control panel, the driver side column, and the handle to get into the vehicle. this causes a major distraction while driving and also can cause severe electrical damage, water damage to the interior and mold/mildew build up. . corporate claims they know nothing about this situation however currently there is a class action lawsuit vs chrysler corporation regarding this issue with many different models with the same issue. this situation only occurs during the extreme cold weather change and precipitation. the dealer and jeep have no answer to rectify this problem. *tr

2008 jeep grand cherokee. consumer writes in regards to final drive controller module recall. consumer states recall repair damaged vehicle. *smd the consumer stated the recall was performed in october 2013. however, he did not know at the time, it damaged the vehicle. it wasn't until january 2014, that the vehicle would not go into towable mode. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. an inspection revealed the vehicle needed a new transfer case motor, and chrysler would pay for the repairs, but the part would not be available for six months. the consumer filed a claim with chrysler, and five weeks later the part arrived, and was eventually installed. late april 2014, the vehicle would not shift into towable mode. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the vehicle was fixed again. the dealer guaranteed that it wouldn't happen again. but, it did happen again, and a warning appeared on the dashboard, that read service 4-wheel drive system and the transmission light illuminated. the consumer was informed, there was no permanent fix at the moment. *jb

Have been told by 2 jeep dealerships that reason for my jeep shutting down while driving is in the electrical with the key switch. there is a recall on this but jeep doesn't have the parts to fix. there are more non safety issues caused by this problem such as the nav screen & back up camera not working as well as radio/gps. my jeep just shut off on i-40 & i-75 at a high rate of speed on 2 different times for a period of 2 yrs. of course, there is no warning. the first time this happened i about got ran over my a tractor trailer. this is my work vehicle and i show properties with it daily. i am widowed and am on a budget. i have called & emailed (chrysler customer # kmm 9079662v48259l0km) for help several times. i do not want to lose my life or somebody else's life because chrysler will not manufacture a part until people are dead! i appreciate any help with this problem.

So the starter has been a issue ever since i bought the car from my father 2 years ago. the key seems to be the problem since i got the starter rebuilt. it just doesn't start and will turn off at times for no apparent reason which would scare everyone in the car. i was wondering if there is a recall because there should be. *tr

Had n23 recall done in september 2013 in november 2013 when i was going to tow cherokee behind motorhome would not go into neutral in transfer case. dealership replace actuator. january 2014 same problem, dealership replaced actuator again, they said the one previously replaced was bad. february 2014 same problem, dealership reflashed tcm. may 2014, same problem, reflashed tcm again. later may 2014, same problem, dealership opened ticket with star engineers, checked every wire harness, connection in transfer case and actuator. now june, same problem...my question chrysler customer care only helps communicating with the dealership and the dealership can not email the star engineers. why haven't they looked at the final drive control module, that is where the problem started with the recall??? since the new models are ok what changed from the 2008 to the 2011 and newer??? need help!! chrysler needs to fix the problem. many people have this problem since the cherokee is such a popular vehicle to tow. *tr

The jeep stalls on the freeway. while driving the jeep on the interstate, it stalled and restarted suddenly. this was felt by a sudden loss of forward momentum. the jeep at times stalls flat at freeway speeds and needs to be stopped to restart. this has been in for repairs since january 2013 and it still stalls. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. after restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. the failure recurred twice. in addition, the ignition key became slightly stuck and, after engaging a second time, the key functioned properly. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v567000 (electrical system); however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

We are full time rvers and have towed our jeep about 40,000 miles without any issues, until the recent recall. nhtsa #13v75000, chrysler n23. the very innocuous recall notice spoke of the dot requiring the recall based on a number of cases where the transfer case shifted into neutral on it's own and the vehicle rolled away, causing damage. the recall went on to say that the fix was to take it to the dealer for a software reprogramming to take care of the issue. the recall notice was very carefully and cleverly written to leave one with the impression that a software issue was the cause of the problem, and jeep was going to fix it with the reflash of the transmission computer. this is not true. the issue is caused by the failure of hardware in the transfer case, and the ?fix? offered by jeep is nothing more than a band aid to meet the strict letter of the demand by the nhtsa. as thousands of jeep owners are now learning, after the recall they find themselves in a situation where the transfer case will no longer shift into neutral, or 4wd low, at all. i have personal knowledge of dozens of jeep owners with these issues who never had a problem before the recall. this problem creates a great uncertainty among owners. we don't know if the 4wd system will work when needed, or end up stuck in neutral or 4wd low, making the vehicle unusable. while not being able to tow may not be a safety issue, i think that disabling a 4wd system that many people rely on in bad terrain or weather would be. i don't think that nhtsa has monitored this situation properly and has allowed chrysler to commit what amounts to a fraud upon their customers. i think nhtsa needs to take another look at this issue. *tr

2008 jeep grand cherokee overland hemi 5.7 stalled after a rapid sudden acceleration. jeep started "bucking" (losing power and regaining it) then took off without anything touching gas pedal and no warning. the jeep went from 30 mph to over 50 mph and kept accelerating. i had to throw in neutral to get it to stop. i then pulled over and it stalled out. this has been reported to chrysler case #[xxx] and i spoke to [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving the jeep and it accelerated suddenly as if the throttle was stuck. the throttle pedal in fact was not stuck and i had to shift into neutral to get it to stop accelerating. after shifting to neutral, the jeep stalled in the roadway and i ended up driving through my neighbor's yard to avoid pulling out into a busy intersection as i had no brakes or steering. i almost ran over a pedestrian i didn't see walking on the sidewalk. this vehicle has been to dealerships multiple times for stalling at freeway speeds and stalling when driving around town. this has been an ongoing safety concern, especially with the stalling and chrysler is well aware of the problem. most recent chrysler case # is [xxx]. they have replaced multiple things so far and the problem still exists. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
