Randomly, my car wouldn't start and i would think that the battery went dead. then, another jeep owner told me to put my foot on the brake and jiggle the shifter, and that it should work. this worked and after about a year of utilizing this work around, the car felt like it was slipping in between gears as i was driving. it felt like it was fishtailing, however i would see the auto-steering and abs lights pop up on the dashboard and it felt like the car was losing control. i took it to several mechanics whom would check the starter, realign, do more random testing and the problem persisted. after thousands of dollars and hours spent trying to identify the issue, i eventually received a recall notice in the mail telling me that there was indeed a major issue, however the part needed to correct it was unavailable and more needed to be manufactured. it also stated that i shouldn't drive the vehicle, but rent a car until the part was available and that the cost would be reimbursed eventually, once a part was available to repair the issue. i could not afford to rent a car for an unknown amount of time... and the part remained unavailable for the duration of the time that i owned it. i tool it to a mechanic at one point, explained to them about the recall which they were familiar with, and they replaced my starter, hoping that this would make the car "safer" until the part was available. it did help, however did not rectify the issue. by the time the part became available, i had already spent thousands trying to fix it and had traded it in to a dealership when i took on a lease. now it doesn't seem to matter how much money i spent trying to fix the issue prior to the part being available as they are only willing to reimburse you for the specific recall itself. maybe had i been calling them from a hospital room as a result of an accident, they would feel differently. *tr

Problem started around january 2015 on my 2006 jeep grand cherokee laredo. vehicle wouldn't start. my husband replaced the starter and problem persisted. took vehicle into genesee auto electric on 1/23/2015 and they couldn't find a problem but charged me $250 for replacing battery posts. then replaced the battery and it seemed to be fine for a little while. around march 2015 had incident on 15 south where i was driving about 80 miles and the electrical started going crazy. all electrical on the dashboard started blinking and gauges were moving all over the place. it really scared me and so i pulled over to the side of the road and shut off jeep. it took a while to restart it but after wiggling the battery a little it worked. i no longer feel safe driving my jeep after fully realizing what the recall was about and doing some research on other people's experiences. chrysler gave me a rental car for 3 days and has been unwilling to assist me any further. my jeep is now sitting at the dealership.

I received a recall notice (p41/nhtsa 14v-438) from chrysler about 6 to 8 months ago. my dealer says still waiting on parts. i have followed their instructions and removed keys from jeep key. dash lights have started blinking on and off, this give me no information when off (speed, etc.). i can hold key and lights will stay on. this does not happen all the time just some time. isn't 8 months a long time to wait to get this repair because this could result in loss of engine power, and braking leading to a crash.. *tr

Driving down a mountain grade, at 65 miles per hour, all power shut off including all dash lights, speedometer, power steering and brakes. over the next 20 miles all of these systems flashed on and off about a dozen times or more. this erratic electric behavior continued on a daily basis until i took it into the dealership . the dealer was able to recreate the problem when they jiggled the ignition switch. i do not use a keychain, only the key, so i assume the problem was caused when i drove over bumps in the road. for $1,300, the dealer was able to fix the problem. *tr

I received a recall notice n23 which said that i needed to call my local jeep chrysler service center as soon as possible to have the work done because the problem could cause a crash. i have been trying to call at least a couple of times a week since i have received this notice about 7 months ago and they told me that i am on a waiting list for the part. nothing can be done until they get the part. since then, the problems continue to get worse. last night, i almost crashed as i lost control of the steering because the jeep seemed to lost control and died momentarily as the lights on my control panel were flashing. i was told it was all due to the key switch but i have now noticed that as the lights are all blindingly flashing there is a grinding noise that sounds like it is coming from under the car near the front. i am not a mechanic so i have no idea and i don't have money to take my jeep in and have them "try" to figure out what is going on and then charge me for possibly figuring it out. this is unacceptable! we have been waiting for almost seven months for parts that the notice says "please hurry!!! call the express service hotline 1-866-849-3608 right now to schedule your free repair". is it because it is free repair that there is no hurry to get this fixed? i have a child! i almost wrecked. if anyone had been around me or i had been in a curve when i lost the ability to steer after the car died, we could have been killed or we could have killed someone else! i need help now!!! *tr

Since i got the recall notice from chrysler and i immediately call them to make an appointment but before i went they told me they didn't have the part for the car. they told me to wait until they got the part. so i waited. today (november 20) my car didn't start when i tried to start it and the car made a clicking sound. so i gave up and when i turn it all off and took the key from the switch, the car still made the beeping sound like if the key was still in the switch. so i locked my car and this evening i went to get something from my car and the battery is dying. so now i can't go to work tomorrow because my car isn't starting. i just recently called chrysler and they told me that they can't do anything because they didn't have the part and they told me they can't give me a rental because they don't give them for recalls and they told me to call the chrysler main phone and i did. chrysler said that they couldn't give a rental car because it's not for the recall and they said they couldn't do anything to fix my car until they make the part. so now i have a broken jeep outside parked. *tr

While driving, all of my lights on my instrument panel start to flash. i am unable to tell the speed at which i am going because it the speedometer stops working as well. the fans stop blowing and this has happened over and over. i received a speeding ticket because of being unable to tell how fast i was driving. i have taken my car to a chrysler/jeep dealership and they were unable to do anything or figure out why it happened. i have taken it to my local garage and they are unable to find out why it is happening. this has been going on for almost two years and keeps getting worse and worse. i have contacted chrysler/jeep via email and was told that i should take it back to a dealership to have it looked at but "if it is monetary reimbursement" that i was looking for, that wasn't going to happen. i can google this issue and find hundreds of people with the same problem online with no resolution! this isn't just a problem that i am having and until it causes someone to have an accident and kill either themselves or someone else, chrysler doesn't seem to care!!! *tr
