All 4 of my indoor door handed are broken!!!
Interior door handles are made of cheep plastic and prematurely wearing out causing them to shatter making them inoperable so that occupants are unable to exit the vehicle in case of emergency
Takata recall. headlights randomly flicker or shut off while driving on highway
Recall for ignition switch was completed unsatisfactorily by the dealer. 1) it is extremely difficult to get the key to turn. the new design takes excessive force to push the key in and then turn, and, again, excessive force to push the key in and remove the key. this repaid is totally unacceptable to me, 2) new key barrel, or whatever they installed in the steering column, does not align up in the hole in the dashboard and is immediately noticeable looking at the dash board. this, too, is not acceptable. 3) a goofy looking sticker was attached to the dashboard next to the steering column key how. is that part of the "recall"? are we supposed to keep post-it type notes on our dash for safety? you've got to be kidding me. tightness in getting key to tun on or off is occurring at all times, every time.
I also have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee lmtd and the driver's side interior door panel is broken around the door handle. the door handle is hanging on by the cables. i have been dealing with this for over 2 years. the only reason the other door interior panels haven't broken yet is probably because they are rarely used. i do not know why jeep has not been supportive enough to have a recall to replace all 4 door panels since they are aware of the cheap plastic that was used. this is a safety hazard. i don't even know if i could get my door open in a crash.
I called the recall center multiple times speaking with briana, tiffany and shelena (supervisor) regarding recall p41. all of them stated and have documented that i would be receiving 2 new keys when they fix my recall. the dealership is refusing to give me new keys. i think it is unprofessional to misinform your customers and not hold true to your word. i have been expecting new keys because i am having issues with mine and now they are refusing to replace it. i have been waiting for over a year for a solution for this recall and now this.
I received safety recall p41 concerning the ignition switch. i have been waiting for over a year for my dealer to receive the required part and they still don't have it. why can't chrysler provide the part for this safety recall?????
Notice is for p41 / nhtsa 14v-438 - fiat claims they don't know when the part will ever come in and the dealer says the same thing. the recall seems pretty serious says vehichle can cause a crash from the ignition - what do i do??
This past week, two of the 4 interior door handles have broken. these are doors that are seldom used. it is only a matter of time that the remaining doors will be affected. this is a safety issue because you cannot exit the vehicle. i have researched this issue on the internet and youtube and it is a very common complaint. chrysler should recall this defective part - the cheep plastic they decided to use just crumbled in the door. instead they want me to pay $340.00 for parts only for "one" door and this does not include installation.
Door handles to exit the vehicle from inside break under normal conditions. all four door handle are brittle and can break under normal opening. this can be a hazard if needed to get out of the vehicle.
On 6/30/2015 i took my vehicle in for p73 warranty recall. on7/12/2015 , when i was backing out of my driveway, my 2005 jeep shifted into low 4 wheel drive , without any touching of the lever to shift into 4 wheel drive. it took a couple blocks driving very slow to disengage from the 4 wheel drive low. i have an appt. to return to the dealer who performed the service, to have it checked. right now i am hesitant to drive this vehicle, for fear it will shift into 4 wheel drive again, without my doing anything, which could do serious damage to the vehicle at the very least. i am reporting this so others might be informed that there could be a problem with the reprogram of the final drive control module.
Door handles / door panel falling/ breaking apart on 2 doors.
Chrysler has a recall on my jeep since 2014, that hasn't been fix or done. i'm having problems (cuts off and all lights comes on). took to the jeep place and they state; oh no! this isn't because of the recall. wrong answer. they were wanting me to spend thousands of dollars to fix things not wrong with my car. no warranty with what they were gone to fix. took it somewhere else and they found the problem. "the recall"...no part to be found. they did the best they could until chrysler gets me a part. i'm driving my car that cuts off on me. i don't have another car, i'm a widow. how can i get my money back that i have spend and get my car fix?
Car did not turn on. ignition switch.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 jeep grand cherokee. while driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. in addition, the air bag warning light illuminated. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 47,000. updated 05/18/16*lj the consumer stated the failure was not due to a failure of the ignition recall that was performed by the dealer. after extensive diagnostics, it was determined the power failure was due to non-related maintenance issues. the consumer requested to have his complaint withdrawn. updated 07/07/16
I own a garage kept, 2005 jeep grand cherokee limited 2wd with approximately 80,000 miles. 3 of the 4 interior door handles are severely cracking making it difficult to open the door. this is a safety concern because once they full break, the door in unable to be opened from the interior. cost to repair each door is over $800. i contacted jeep customer support on 6-22-15, but was told this was not a known issue and that there was no assistance they could provide in repairing the door. this is a well documented safety issue and needs to be address so that consumers can get assistance in dealing with the safety problem.
Out of the 4 interior door panels, 3 of them are broken! my vehicle is not under warranty anymore and the price to get this fixed is ridiculous! i've been told by several other jeep owners that the same thing has happened to them. my main concern is that this is a safety hazard because if something were to happen they person/persons in the front passenger and/or both rear doors couldn't get out. i drive my jeep everyday and the only interior door knob that isn't broken is the drivers side! i rarely have others in my vehicle, but yet the other 3 door knobs are broken?!?!?! please do something about this. i've contacted the chrysler corporation and they were very rude about the situation.
The inside of my right rear door cracked all the way in. to replace it they quoted around 600.00. which the inside of the door are cheap made. so it's a safety hazard for my passengers
My sons vehicle will randomly shift out of drive into third gear causing serious safety concerns. if you turn the car off and turn the car back on it resets but the problem can reoccur at any time while driving. we have taken to a jeep dealership and they reloaded some software but that did not fix the problem. this is a known problem as an internet search reveals many people with the same problem.
Problem with broken door handles 1front passenger 2rear passenger doors all broken which causes a safety hazard for my kids and others who ride in the vehicle. rather expense to replace and should be recalled by chrysler.
I received an important safety recall notice p41/nhtsa 14v-438 in sept. 2014. as of april 17, more than six months later, chrysler has not remedied this defect. i am concerned that this is not important to them. *tr
I was entering a parking lot when i saw another car exiting. i pressed down on the brake and the vehicle went into sudden rapid acceleration. i pushed harder on the brake and the car sped up to at least 60 mph. i hit the car that was coming out of the lot because i could not stop my car. the car that i hit hit a parked car. my vehicle then sped ahead hitting another car because i could not stop. i sped over the railroad tracks and my car finally came to a stop in a shopping center. this was the last experience with sudden rapid acceleration in this jeep. no one in my household has driven the jeep since. my daughter experienced the same rapid acceleration in february while she was parking. she was going in reverse to park between two parked cars. the jeep accelerated so rapidly she hit the car parked behind. the parked car she hit was totaled.the dealer could not diagnose the problem and chrysler dropped the case. in my case chrysler sent an inspector to investigate the problem. chrysler determined that that they would not change their previous position and denied any mechanical defect. we have a car we are terrified to drive. it cannot be repaired because the mechanical defect cannot be diagnosed.
All four door panel / latches are breaking out of the plastic door panel resulting in not being able to open doors from the inside of the car.
I bought my vehicle in dec 2014 from a used dealer. passenger side interior door handle had small crack as well as driver side interior door handle. on 2/19/15 while exiting vehicle, driver's side interior handle cracked significantly and was very loose. since then, passenger side door handle has cracked very bad also. this afternoon 8/10/15, while getting back into my vehicle the entire drivers side door interior handle fell completely off and into the street. this presents a seriously hazardous condition, if the driver of the vehicle can not exit the car without rolling the window down then reaching out of car to open door using exterior handle. if an accident occurs and my vehicle flips onto its passenger side. i can not exit the vehicle at all! unless i climb into the back seat and open the drivers side rear door. this is very serious. jeep chrsyler needs to replace all interior handles on this vehicle asap, as there are numerous complaints about the same issue.
The car would die after being at a stop sign and accelerating to pull out into an intersection leaving my daughter with no power. this has happened at least 3 to 4 times since we purchased this jeep from the first owner. we've been waiting for months to get this corrected. i call the local dealer every 3-4 months trying to get this resolved. with the first incident and maybe the second, the recall hadn't been issued. we first thought we needed to change out the spark plugs. after not getting any assistance because there is no available part, we called the chrysler group recall center. after waiting over two hours to speak to someone and only getting the recorded greeting, we gave up. we are very concerned at this point as our youngest daughter is using this vehicle. we love this car but safety comes first. after reading the information provided by chrysler regarding its descripted "the problem", ethically, i couldn't sell this to anyone knowing it has a recall.
Roaring road noise when driving. none while sitting still. even with new tires the roar remains. sometimes it is so loud if talking to someone in the vehicle, it is difficult to hear them. sometimes it is a soft roar.
Ignition switch it has hard time starting
After cranking my jeep, the passenger side had a loud clicking/ticking sound. it sounds like the airbag is trying to connect but doesn't. it has continued to make this sounds off and on since. no service lights come on. i have not taken it in since it doesn't do it every time. i did ask about it when getting my oil changed. no one could tell me anything unless they take the dash out and i can't be that long without a ride since i work daily.
I received a safety recall (p41 nhtsa 14v-438 on my vehicle back in september of 2014. it been a year and chrysler doesn't have a part or way to remedy the defect. as a consumer, i have a right to have defective products or materials fixed within a reasonable time frame, and over a year later isn't timely or reasonable. i spoke with rebin at the chrysler corporation today, and he doesn't know the part number to be able to call a dealership to be able to schedule me an appointment to get my vehicle fixed.
I purchased the grand cherokee just the day before the incident. when i purchased it i did notice on driver side door plastic was broken around handle but was still operational. the next day my daughter was getting out of front passenger door when plastic broke around handle and handle itself would not work. i did some research online and saw that thousands of grand cherokee owners have had the same exact problem. there was even a guy who started making and selling his own replacement kit. this could be a huge safety issue if something were to happen and driver or passengers needed to exit vehicle immediately and could not if windows didn't work to use exterior handle to exit. why hasn't this been recalled? *js
June of 2014 and still to this day the gear shift can be moved from "p" to any gear, and that is when no keys are in the ignition/and no foot on the brake. i was working under the hood and my 4 year old son did just that and almost ran me over. i checked and the vehicle had no keys in it they were with me in my tool box because i didn't want him to do just that. i checked out the situation to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and to my surprise and still til this day, i can enter the vehicle with no keys and no foot on the brake just reach in and move the gear shift from "p" to any gear resulting in the clunk of the transmission and rolling of the vehicle. this is very unnerving and would like this to be fixed. i have read countless articles and blogs about this exact same problem.
Every time while driving the air bag light on dash is always on. then upon driving, suddenly the seat belt alarm starts buzzing even though all seat belts are latched properly. then the engine light will come on. shortly after the dash goes completely black. all alarms and lights go out along with the heating/ac. this is on a routine basis. *tr
The door handle housing in front and rear doors have shattered causing open/closing mechanism to fail.
Recall was supposedly taken care of on 2/28/2014. but on 3/05/2014 around 530pm on the parkway going home from work my jeep started to hesitant and then an exit away my slippery indication light came on and it made me nervous so when i got home i called the jeep chrysler dealership and they told me the service department was closed so i called the next day and let them know what happen and the receptionist said someone would call me back. that was about 8 am then i called my job to let them know i'd be late. it was going on almost 10am no one called so i called them again and they told me someone will call so i went to the dealership and waited for about 20 minutes and then was told they couldn't look at my car until monday or tuesday. i'm very upset because i use my car to get back and forth to work and i'm going to miss now 3 days because of it and they wouldnt even give me a rental so i wouldn't miss work. the abs light came on and won't go off as well as the slippery indication light. how am i going to get back and forth to work next week? help! *tr
Checking to see if my vehicle has a recall. *tr
Ignition turned off from touching the key while driving causing my jeep's engine to stall. no power steering. was able to get off the road without incident. this has happened 4 times since january of 2015. i removed the key chain but it still happened again. the keys's ignition sets to close to control panels.
There has been an outstanding recall on the keys/ignition similar to gm. it is older than the hills but fiat chrysler hasn't done anything about it except waiting for parts. i believe i have waited long enough before we have a tragedy. intermittently, the dash lights go on and go off. it has been traced to the ignition switch.
After having safety recall n23 done to my jeep grand cherokee 5.7l i have since been locked out of 4-wheel low. the n23 safety recall for my vehicle has not worked as it has created another safety issue by me not having my 4-low in a state (colorado) that i use 4-low in for winter and for recreation use. i was almost trapped in the cold mountains due to not knowing the n23 recall deactivated my 4-low. not only if this a safety issue but my vehicles value has diminished greatly as now it's a 2wd vehicle. *tr
Plastic door handle casing is cracked on front driver door interior. plastic door handle casing is completely broken on left rear passenger door interior, causing door handle to hang and be unsafe to use. no incident caused this other than a passenger simply trying to open the door to exit. as it remains, the rear passenger can not safely exit the car due to this problem. *ln
My complaint is concerning the interior door panels and handles for my vehicle. all four doors have cracks in the casing that lead to the handle. one of the levers has actually broken off(the passenger seat side behind the driver/left side of vehicle). i brought this to the attention of the service department of landmark dodge chrysler jeep where i purchased the car, and they informed me that the entire panel would have to be replaced in order to remedy the problem. they quoted to me a cost of approximately $600 for each door, meaning it would cost me about $2,400 to fix this problem. this can not be a fluke that all 4 doors have the same defect. this is a safety hazard and i am concerned that i, or any passengers i may have, will not be able to exit my vehicle because of it. this is clearly a manufacturers defect. i'm sure that there are other jeep owners out there who have this same issue. please help.
Inside door handle failure, due to breakage of plastic support/housing. presents safety hazard when attempting to exit vehicle. door may only be opened from outside.
My husband i where in a head on crash with this vehicle, survived with serious injuries. since the accident we have been getting different recalls on this vehicle, which is making us wonder if there was a vehicle mal-function that may have caused this horrific accident. not sure of the mileage at the time of the accident. *tr
The door handles on all four doors break away, and become unusable. making a huge safety issue in trying to exit the car invade of fire or something else to put the passengers in the vehicle. in research done over the internet, it seems the only year affected was the 2005 models in the cheaper plastic used in holding the door handles
All interior door hinges are attached to a plastic housing and that housing has begun to crumble on all four doors. the door hinges are cheap plastic and have an obvious manufacturing defect. i have searched the web regarding this defect, and i am not surprised to see thousands of folks with the same problem as me. there are hundreds of videos on youtube, and many more posting throughout the web of jeep owners complaining about this issue. this is an obvious hazard because it would prevent anyone from exiting the vehicle in case of an emergency (say a fire).
All of the interior door handle are broken. all four of them were replaced once. a few months after being replace they all broke once again. so now the doors can only be opened from the outside, and to get out of the car the windows have to be rolled down to open with the outside handle. the jeep dealer was called. they told me that it wouldn't be covered by the warranty because of the mileage and called it "wear and tear". this is a big issue, my passengers and i can't get out of my jeep unless the windows are down and reach out of the vehicle to open with outside handle. it is also hard for me to do at times because i am a petite woman.
Interior door handle of passenger door in the back seat behind the driver cracked and fell off. the driver side door handle is doing the same thing and is about to fall off. the car was stationary, and i believe this is a safety hazard because if the car was in an accident, occupants would not be able to exit the vehicle.
All 4 interior door opening handles breaking/failing: 1 rear door totally inoperable. ***this is a dangerous safety issue if handles break or are inoperable in certain emergency situations, passengers may not be able to exit the vehicle, causing serious injury or death!*** manufacturer charge to replace/repair handles is prohibitively expensive: in my case, the cost of eight (8) monthly car payments! manufacturer safety recall warranty. *tr
I own a 2005 jeep grand cherokee. air conditioner would only function properly when on high setting. if i try to put it in a lower setting the air conditioner shuts off. dealer service center stated that a hose needed to be replaced. the failure mileage was 40,000.
When opening rear door, handle broke in several places. person opening door was only 4 so it was due to the over exertion. it is now not possible to open the rear door from inside the car.
The interior door panels on 3 of the 4 doors on my grand cherokee are broken and show stress fractures around the interoir door handle, the part of the door behind the interior door handle that is attached to the rest of the door panel. this part is very weak and prone to fracture, making the interior door handle fall free into the vehicle. the doors are barely operable and i am worried in a collision these doors will not function. the front panels cost $750 a piece and the rears cost $450. i can not afford the repairs so i am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle as this is my only vehicle. jeep and chrysler are well aware of the issue as i found out when i asked about the problem at the dealership. this issue needs to be fixed now and if chrysler isn't going to do it willingly it falls to the ntsb to step in and prevent needless deaths due to faulty door handles.
