Front seat frame broken.. causing seat to move from track mounting that is bolted to floor causing driver to be able to lose control of vehicle and in cause of accident causing serious injury and or death.
The driver seat wobbles and shifts within the seat itself not the bolts that hold the seat bracket down. i believe it is the inside base of the seat. i fear that if an accident were to occur if the seat will stay mounted to the vehicle.
The drivers seat mounting bracket (front, left) has broken during normal use 8 times.the part was welded back together each time so far. today, 3 or the 4 mounting brackets broke at once while i was getting into the vehicle, the 2 rear brackets and the same front bracket that typically snaps. this time i wasn't driving, but a few of the other breaks occurred while on the highway, or during normal acceleration from a stoplight. one break also occurred during a left turn on a city street and i nearly lost control when the seat leaned to the side. the first break happened in 2009 with around 45,000 miles on the vehicle, and they have happened on a regular basis since then.
The welds on the driver's seat have broken causing you to move upon turning the jeep or rocking back and forth, i've had an 01 jeep grand cherokee with the same issues
Seat heater wiring inside both front seats cracked at seat heater elements causing electrical resistance and melting of seat cushion material surrounding wiring. this defect was previously addressed via safety recall 09v11700 in 2009. chrysler claimed my vehicle had received the safety recall, and the parts are only warranted for 2 years. if this is true, the new parts have the same fire hazard as the old parts.
Front driver seat mounting bracket/track break complaint: vehicle was stationary and in parked in a parking lot of my work. i was just getting into the vehicle when the front left driver seat bracket broke causing the seat to immediately start rocking side to side and towards the back. upon inspection the bracket itself failed at a designed bend in the bracket just before the bracket attaches to the seat power sliding bracket. material appears to be made of 1/8" metal problem: after time the bracket holding the driver/passenger side front seats to the frame of the vehicle begins to crack and break leaving the seat to rock and move as the vehicle is driven. this will lead to the seat possibly becoming disconnected from the vehicle frame in the event of a crash. file labeled: left brkt-driver seat - broken - is of the broken bracket.this part is on driver side towards the door. file labeled: right brkt-driver seat - nrml - is of the opposite bracket.this part is on driver side towards the passenger seat.
I have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. i came to a stop yesterday and the seat shifted forward and now rocks. i looked under it and the seat bracket broke. i looked into it on internet and it seems to be a very common problem with this vehicle. i contacted chrysler but they were very unhelpful.
Takata recall my driver's seat has been replace once, at my own expense, due the seat becoming extremely "wobbly" and being broken from the bease frame and frame under seat. i was on highway driving when the seat first became slightly unstable, had i unfornatunately been struck from the rear, i would've been violently thrown forward. i have researched this matter and found that there had been a recall for the 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo wj, yet i found nothing on this site. it costs me $600, which is a lot for a disabled veteran. but my safety comes first. please look into this
The jeep was stationary when there was a sound, when i started driving the seat began to wobble from side to side (left to right) and it felt like the seat could come off, i had to brace my leg against the door too keep the seat semi-stable. looking into this issue i found a whole website dedicated to complaints, as well as a whole website dedicated to selling new brackets to counteract this problem. if a third party having to sell parts for a specific issue isnt telling on how common it is, i don't know what is. i have yet to bring it in to the shop, however according to the complaints its an issue with them making weak brackets than can fail during a crash. here is the website documenting complaints, as well as the website for parts. http://jeepseatbracketproblems.blogspot.com/ https://www.jeepseatbracket.com/pages/the-problem we will be getting it diagnosed, however it seems this should be an issue that is addressed, especially considering how dangerous this could be both with if it broke while driving, and in a crash! i believe it should be a recall, or have all the owners of cars with this problem fixed at their cost with how common it seems, and im upset they havent addressed it.
Driver's seat bracket (track) has an upside down " l" shaped metal bracket or support from the track to the seat which broke in two at the bend of the l. happened while city street driving.
The driver's seat bracket has broken at 3 of the 4 points where it is attached to the floor frame. the seat is very unsafe and moves dangerously with every turn, braking or acceleration. this is obviously a very common failure in the 1999-2004 jeep grand cherokees, yet chrysler has done nothing to address it. how many people are driving around with this potentially fatal defect? how many must be injured or killed before action is taken to correct this obvious design and manufacturing defect?
The front right side bracket under the drivers seat broke/snapped in half turning my drivers seat into a rocking chair making it very unsafe to drive. bracket snapped while i was driving. seat just dropped two inches to the right while driving. now, i am concerned about a collision and then the seat just flying off turning me into a crash test dummy. this is not the first time this has happened on this vehicle. this same exact thing happened in 2013 so i went to a junk yard and purchased a replacement seat and had the entire seat replaced. now, three years later i have to go thru the same process and hope the junkyard can get me another seat. this is a joke really that this issue has not caused a recall on the 2004 jeep. after reading the forums on the web, something should be done about it. someone is going to get into an accident, the seat is going to fail and chrysler is going to get sued, big-time. *tr

I just took my vehicle in to our local dealership and they tell me they can not "fix" or repair the heated seat issue because they may rip the seats. really? oh and that they will not be responsible if they do. . .
#1 march 204 front angle on electric seat track clean break on track, seat unstable and unsafe vehicle underivable.replaced with salvage unit did not replace seat frame in lower cushion re used original seat. #2 1/24/16 front angle on electric track broke again, seat frame also damaged. took apart seat frame came a part in multiple pieces with broke wields and broken metal points. had to again buy salvage seat, could not find exact match, had to swap seat track frame, cushions and track wiring harness. have had to work on this seat twice using all oe parts no aftermarket parts, both incidents have left the vehicle undriveable and unsafe till the part was replaced, second time seat snapped upon braking and flung me rearward to where i lost control of the vehicle, fortunately i was on a country road and was able to get of the road safely but any other incident myself or others could have been hurt i would like to give a more through description but i'm limited on characters, i also still have all the broken parts as proof.please email me for more details. chrysler and jeep should be held accountable for this part that is poorly manufactured it could kill someone. please email so (i can give you full details, this has happened to this part twice!

Bracket on driver seat, bracket at left front corner of seat broke....have heard of several complaints about this same thing happening with other jeep owners....dealer repairs range from 400.00 to 900.00....
The 1999-2004 jeep grand cherokee seat track has a weak point on the rear scissor assembly. when you start to notice a wobble or click it means one of the tiny connecting pieces has broken. eventually the other side will also break allowing you to lift the entire seat up. the seat bracket that connects the seat to the floor of the jeep cracked. i started to do research and found out that this a very common issue and have caused many accidents. i have looked into getting the issue fixed and found it to be very difficult. i have found two web sites that list complaints from other people that this has happened to. i really feel that this is a safety issue and something needs to be done. these are the links to the other websites: http://jeepseatbracketproblems.blogspot.com/ (there are over 450 other complaints from jeep owners. http://www.jeepseatbracket.com/pages/my-story (this is another website that is directly related to these incidents.) i really hope that this is seriously considered before sever injuries result in these jeep defect. thank you for the consideration. *tr
Driver side electric adjustable seat bracket broke, making the seat wobble and rock from side to side and back and forth. it appears that this is adding stress to the other connecting points on the bracket and will eventually render the seat inoperable. the broken seat bracket is a hazard to safe driving. *tr
(relating to the driver-side seat only) my daughter and i was waiting at a traffic stop, (i was driving) when the light turn green i pressed on the accelerator and my entire seat including myself swung back. because of the backward momentum, it causes me to abruptly press further on the accelerator. i was able to regain control of the vehicle and pull on the side to inspect the seat. i found that the two front brackets under the seat had broken off. since i had adjustable power seat, i lower the seat to align the broken brackets to wedge under the bar causing the seat to stabilize or at least hold in a semi-solid position. i called chrysler and they said they could not do anything about it since the vehicle was out of warranty. i argued that this is an unusual incident where i have never heard that the driver-side seat brackets would break off and possibly cause an accident. especially for a jeep, this vehicle is meant to be driven on and off road. again, they said that there was nothing that they could do. this is a design flaw and should be address before someone gets seriously injured. *tr
The drivers seat bracket holding chair has broken from regular use. while parked, i leaned back in my seat and a bracket on the front left that connects to the frame holding chair to the floor broke. this has caused the seat to become more of a rocking chair, wobbling back and forth. to my surprise a defect such as this does not warrant a recall. i wish chrysler addresses this problems that seems to be common among some of the jeep grand cherokee. if the drivers seat breaks loose from the floor during an impact or rollover, the driver could easily be thrown from the vehicle while still strapped in his/her seat. the problem seems to get worse making the car unsafe to drive. *tr
Driving with 12 year old daughter in car. making turn onto highway and driver's seat lurched backwards with loud "pop" sound. almost lost control of car and scared the daylights out of my daughter. pulled over and seat is loose of frame. there is a crack in the steel bracket where seat attaches to seat frame. i went online and saw this is a common defect in jeep grand cherokees. kind of ridiculous that this problem hasn't already been corrected. i have never owned or even heard of a car where it is common for the seat to break from its frame. *tr
The metal bracket under my driver's seat has completely broken/snapped apart. therefore, i'm wobbling around while driving my vehicle and it's a huge safety issue. i was told there was no recall on my model for this issue, but apparently there are a number of complaints regarding same. *tr
Just bought my 2004 jgc in april 2013. pulling up to my driveway with my 4 year old in the back seat, i heard a strange pop and my driver's seat moved backwards and became unstable. looked at the seat bracket and one side is cracked. it had made snapping noise before but i didn't know what it was. very dangerous situation and i thank god i was driving slow and was not on the highway. i did a search online and there are 100's or thousands of complaints about the same thing. this needs to be recalled and fixed properly by jeep. *tr
I was taking a turn at less than 15 mph when i heard a snap, and i felt a slight jolt to the left. after taking the turn, i began to accelerate back up to speed when my seat suddenly caused me to lean back. if i were at a higher rate of speed at either the turn or when i was accelerating i feel i would most likely have been in an accident. upon inspection of my seat i found the bracket to my seat had snapped and caused my drivers seat to tilt backward and forward and side to side under acceleration, braking and turning. i feel as if this is a severe safety issue and needs to be recalled, especially as i am not the only one having this issue. *jb
While driving down a local road. i was coming up to a red light and as i was stopping the driver seat made a popping sound and the seat back was leaning toward the right. i pulled over to see what happened and part of the frame had broken. the seat is now wobbly and leans to far one way. luckily my husband was able to strip the seat and weld the frame to fix it. some time later the bottom frame that connect the seat to the floor had broken and my husband welded it. it is a very dangerous situation that could had ended a lot worse if the seat frame had broken to the point that effected my driving. i tried calling jeep directly but basically got an "it not an issue we cover or fix and your on your own". i did some research online about this issue and is a very common safety problem. people are even starting to sell beefier frames for jeep seats and sell for $200. jeep is looking at a very large law suit if someone gets seriously injured due to this defect. but one thing is for certain i will never buy a jeep again! *tr
Driver's side front left seat bracket has sheared while going over hilly roads. seat now leans while turning and accelerating. *tr
My 2004 jeep grand cherokee front driverside seat frame cracked. i was just sitting in the car when it went pop. now the seat rocks and is very dangerous. the federal government needs to investigate before someone gets killed. there are 100's of complaints online about this problem when is the government going to do something. *tr
The driver seat in my vehicle had started to become loose and further inspection showed a broken seat bracket. in online searches i had found this was a common issue with this model (1999-2004 jeep grand cherokee), so common in fact that a website (http://www.jeepseatbracket.com/) selling an improved seat frame was developed for this exact issue. this seems to be a safety concern as i can't imagine the seat belt being as effective if the seat isn't properly aligned and i have found no recall notice for this issue. i understand normal wear and tear on vehicles but it appears based on the number of complaints i was able to find online that this is more a poorly manufactured product than a wear and tear issue. *tr
I was getting into my car and sat in the driver side seat. i heard a popping sound and my seat moved. i got out of my car to check my seat and notice it was loose. *tr
Seat bracket is broken, resulting in entire seat being loose. repaired a few years back at the dealer by replacing entire bracket. obviously, the part is defective, as there are hundreds of complaints of the exact same thing happening in the nhtsa on line database. *tr
I was getting into the vehicle and the seat frame broke dislodging the seat on the driver's side. *tr
The drivers side seat track has broken on two sides. this is due to a defective part on the seat track where the metal is too thin and has cracked. i have read complaint after complaint online. this needs to be recalled before someone is hurt or killed. i cannot even find one to replace in a salvage yard due to the fact that it is such a common problem, people have bought any one that is available. *tr
Drivers seat, left side front and rear brace holding seat to floor cracked apart. i have read that many jeeps from this time period have had this problem of separation due to inferior / thin steal as the bracket. fixing is by welding - does not hold and entire bracket holding the seat to the floor needs to be replaced. *tr
The front driver's seat frame weld on the left side had previously broken on me. now the frame weld has broken on the right side of the seat where the base of the seat meets the seat back causing the seat to tilt back and to the right. the whole seat now wobbles. this is a defect in the seat frame design because the breaks are at weld points. the metal is thin at these points. *tr
Accelerating from stop sign to 40 mph, driver's power seat frame broke at a weld point on the front left side. mechanic says it cannot be re-welded. apparently the problem is so prevalent, another seat from a junk yard cannot be found. dealer says seat frames are on back order. i am working with an independent mechanic to find a fix. this is a safety issue because if the seat broke lose, the driver could lose control and anyone in the back seat could be injured. *js
Front driver seat track broke and car is a hazard to drive. dealer says it cost $1200 to repair. *tr
I have me a 2004 jeep grand cherokee special edition , i bought it in 2010 and its april 19th, 2012 and my drivers front power seat track just broke on me while driving. *js
Seats base frame fails with separation of metal support making seat unsound. located on drivers seat, left front. *tr
While driving my seat suddenly moved forward and to the right. what i found was that the seat bracket broke causing the seat to move. after looking on the internet i found that this is a common problem on this make and model of vehicle. this is a safety issue as it affects your driving position and in my case broke while i was driving. in addition, as you go around corners you now move/slide in the seat as it is no longer level. *tr
The main metal frame of the driver's seat has broken. drivers seat has a rocking motion and will most likely not hold up to a rear end collision at any speeds. *tr
2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo driver's seat mounting bracket broken. seat wobbles terribly. no auto parts store stock this item and according to burdick chrysler jeep, it is no longer manufactured. according to jeep, there has been no recall, yet according to vlane.com, carsurvey.org, aboutvehicle.com and other such internet sources, this is not an isolated incident. there appears to have been thousands of complaints. *kb
While driving the driver's seat frame bracket snapped and the driver's seat became wobbly as i drove. unable to get a safety inspection sticker in massachusetts until the seat frame is repaired/replaced. this is the first time i have had this problem with 2004 grand cherokee. it has occurred twice with a 2003 grand cherokee i own also. very unsafe to drive in this condition. *tr
Front passenger power seat mounting bracket and seat main frame both have split lose, causing seat to wobble dangerously about. possible continued breakage of other components immanent. causing serious injury or death due to seat breaking lose. *tr
Driver side seat broke off at frame. this has happened twice. there does not seem to be a solution by jeep to repair this problem. there are no parts either new or used available to make repairs. was told by the dealer that this is a common problem. *kb
Drivers side seat mounting bracket broke on entry to vehicle. this caused the seat to rock back and forth while driving especially during turns. took it to dealer and they told me that the seat track was also broken. they have been unable to find a replacement track so far because jeep no longer makes the part. i was told that it can't be welded because of liability issues. they estimate the cost to repair at $300+ if the part can be found. this seems to be a common occurrence lately and i'm forced to pay for a design defect. *tr
Front seat brackets sheared off, seat unstable and will tilt backwards. was told by a certified welder / welding inspector that it could not be welded, and that the bracket was a defective, sub-standard, and unrepairable. *tr
I was backing my 2004 jeep grand cherokee out of the driveway when i heard a snap and then the front seat started wobbling back and forth. i pulled back into my driveway and that's when my husband and i noticed the metal that connects the driver's seat had completely snapped. it was a blessing that i was not traveling at a high rate of speed or was far from home, i would hate to think what would have happened had i been on the highway. *tr
