Blend door failure. *tr
The blend door is broken and blows cold air. window does not defrost and can't see well in winter. *tr
Broken blend doors causing no heat for the winter on a jeep grand cherokee. *tr
Had the defroster on. tried to turn the blower to the vent position while fan was off and nothing came out. the defroster still works and the fan seems to be blowing, but for some reason, no air from front(outward facing) part of dash board. had some knowledge of failure in the automatic climate control version, but specifically found jeep with manual climate controls to avoid this problem. *tr
Failure of climate control "blend door mechanism. this has happened three times to this vehicle. when it fails, you cannot control the a/c or heat on each side of the vehicle. i repaired on both occasions at a cost of $900 and $700 respectively. the vehicle is now broken again, which will cost another $900-1200 to repair for the same issue. the dealership said this is very common in this model. obviously a case of an inferior product or input for this component. i have contacted jeep /chrysler and they refuse to do anything. *tr
Defroster on my 2004 jeep grand cherokee only blows cold air. *tr
In april or may of this year, the driver-door window of our jeep slid into the body of the door on it's own--this was while the car was parked on the street. we were lucky to catch it before someone stole all of our items in the car. a repairman told us that the cable/regulator is broken and that it is very common with jeeps. we couldn't afford the $250-300 part, so we simply screwed the window in place, temporarily. this past weekend while driving on the freeway at 65 mph our passenger window did the same thing. it was late friday night so all we could do is duct-tape the window in place. we called chrysler/jeep to see if there is any recall, and they were completely unhelpful. they simply told us to get a $200 diagnosis from a jeep dealership and then they would decide if chrysler/jeep would assist in the cost. we visited many consumer websites and found thousands (no exaggeration) of complaints of the very same problem. those who ended up getting a diagnosis with a dealership never ended up being refunded by chrysler/jeep. in the end, they simply paid chrysler/jeep more money having gone through their suggested process. this is clearly and faulty part and chrysler/jeep's refusal to recall or reimburse its customers is alarming. the parts are very expensive and with so many complaints of the same nature we should not have to pay chrysler/jeep more money for something that is clearly their problem. weather has nothing to do with the failure of the part(s)--they simply break without warning. something must be done about this. both of our windows are currently being held into place by screw or tape as we consider our options. we do not trust chrysler/jeep and believe that even if we go to a dealership we will end up paying for the repair all on our own. it is a considerable expense for a common default and has given us a great deal of stress. chrysler/jeep representatives have been unsympathetic, ambiguous, and untrustworthy. please help! *tr
Heater blend doors do not function. permanently stuck on no defrost. *tr
My 2004 jeep grand cherokee limited with the automatic climate control system, blows cold air out of the passenger side floor vents even when set to heat. this is a current and ongoing problem, it occurs whenever the heat is needed. nothing has been done to remedy the problem, waiting for a recall. *tr
On a cold rainy night in up-state ny there was no heat in the car and the windows fogged up so bad that i had to stop due to the danger of not seeing the road. the failure is consistant and causes fogged windows and the auto can't be used during very cold weather. the blend doors were broken . *tr
Ventilation system problems. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. while attempting to roll down the front passenger side window, the contact heard a noise and the window fell off track into the door. the contact is unable to roll up the window. he called a local mechanic for an estimate to repair the window. the dealer has not been notified and the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were 71,000.
I was just riding down the road one day and my air conditioner quit working. i ran the test on the jeep and it gave me codes dealing with the blend doors staying open. *tr
2004 jeep grand cherokee, 4.0 litre engine, 4 wheel drive. defroster/heater blender door gets stuck. only blows air from the defrost vent. very bad when you are trying to air condition the vehicle and you live in the desert as i do. happens a couple times a week. nothing to do but let it go. it usually goes back to normal cooling after about 2 hours or so. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. within the past two years, all four window regulators were replaced. during the first instances, the front passenger side window continued to roll down on its own. when the rear driver's side window began exhibiting the same failure, the contact had the window sealed to prevent it from opening. on each occasion, the window gradually lowered and would not stop. the current mileage was 79,253 and failure mileage was 50,000.
2004 jeep cherokee - a/c blows cold only on driver side. problem with "blender doors" very costly to repair/replace (over $1000). this is a very common problem in this model. chrysler is aware of this problem and has done nothing about it. it should be recalled and repaired for free. *tr
Heater, defroster, a/c, vents all stopped working twice! on my 2004 jeep grand cherokee. the blend doors would break and stick, thus producing no heat, a/c..nothing! this is very dangerous and extremely costly 1200-1800 each time it has to be fixed. the whole dashboard needs to be removed, the coolant drained and refilled, heater removed, a/c drained and refilled, it is an all day fix for a repair shop who is fluent with this. two days for one who is not. *tr
This is the second time that we have had a problem with windows falling down while driving down the road. the first time the dealership did split the cost of 500.00 with us but not the latest. this seems to be and ongoing problem with this part that is made of plastic. i wish i had known about all the problems with the windows before buying this jeep. *tr
Heater vent does not work. *tr
I have had 3 window regulators break in my 2004 jeep cherokee. the regulator itself is a faulty product, made of cheap plastic instead of something that is built to last with metal. daimler-chrysler took a major shortcut to save a few bucks and now jeep owners are paying for it. each window regulator costs about 277 dollars from a jeep dealership, and they charge $500 for parts and labor to fix 1 (one) regulator. i've had 3 fail and replaced, so i've paid $1500 on a 4 year old american vehicle...on the windows!! this is ridiculous and this product should be recalled, and jeep owners should be reimbursed for all expenses, or have all 4 window regulators replaced free of charge. *tr
2004 jeep grand cherokee limited. blend doors are broken and dealer wants over 2200usd to repair. this should be a factory recall. the ordinary working class person cannot afford this repair. because the blend doors do not open, you cannot get heat or ac. consequently, there is no defrost, making driving extremely dangerous.

Blend door issues, 2004 grand cherokee. *tr
2004 jeep grand cherokee limited. defective blend doors, no defrost, ac iffy, heat only at times. expensive repair, for now living with it. *tr
This pass summer i lost air conditioning on the passenger side, now this winter i have lost heat and defrost on the passenger side. just today i lost all heat and defrost. *tr
Failure of the heating system, making vision out of the windshield difficult in poor weather. turned out do be a mid case unit (blend doors) came apart, entire dash had to be removed for the repair. fortunately extended warranty covered repair cost. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the heater doors in her vehicle broke which left her with no heat and no defroster. there were no warning lights prior or after the failure occurred. she has not taken the vehicle to the dealer or spoken with the manufacturer. the vehicle was repaired on 12/17/2009 by a local repair shop. the current mileage was approximately 87,000. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower heat will not come out of one side of heater no matter what the temp is set to , makes all kind of loud noises and cracking. *tr
The heater in my 2004 jeep grand cherokee has stopped working. turns out this is a very common problem with grand cherokees. the blend doors break because of defective plastic stop pins. daimer chrysler now wants to charge over $1,200 to repair this issue, even though it clearly is a manufacturer defect.*cn
Blows cold air only on one side when the heat is on. unable to defrost windshield.*cn
I do not know what caused the problem, but the blend air door on my 2004 jeep cherokee is broken and only blows cold air. the air does defrost the window or heat the cabin. this could lead to a driving problem if the windows fog up while driving. *tr
Heater on 2004 jeep grand cherokee will not blow hot air. temperature running about 210 (normal). intermittent periods of operation while driving. air conditioner works fine. blower on ac side fine. *tr
2004 jeep grand cherokee with defective heat and cooling system. consumer states that after about 30 minutes the heat on the passenger side is replaced by cold air. he states the vehicle will not be able to keep free of ice with this failure. *kb the service department diagnosed the problem and ordered the replacement parts. *jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the driver's side heated seat burned her and left two burn marks through the leather seats. she noticed the defect when hot spots began to come through the seat. she has unknowingly been burned five times. the manufacturer has not offered any assistance. the dealer stated that there was no recall for her vin number; however, there is a nhtsa campaign id number 06v197000 (seats:front assembly:seat heater/cooler). the failure and current mileages were 38,000. updated 02-19-08 *bf the consumer stated at the same time there was a complete failure of the heating system including the defroster. causing hazardous driving conditions. updated 02/19/08 *tr
Heater and air conditioner does not function properly. may blow heat on one side and cool air on the other side when the a/c is on. may need to turn all the up to 86 before heat will come out in the winter. will sometimes correct itself if car is turned off and let sit for a period of time. *tr
The blender doors on my 2004 jeep grand cherokee's ventilation system failed without warning. i can only get air flow from the windshield defroster vent. this makes if difficult to warm up the vehicle in the winter. according to my research on the web, this type of failure is ridiculously common on this jeep model. i have scheduled an appointment to get the problem fixed, but my dealer has already warned me that the repair costs will be at least $500 or more. the dealer also stated that they had already performed the same repair on 2 other jeeps this winter. once repaired, there is no guarantee that it won't happen again. chrysler should recall the affected vehicles and come up with a solution to the problem. *tr
Defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower- blows cold air from passenger side of vehicle. i have the dual zone automatic heating unit in a 2004 jeep grand cherokee limited. they had to replace the whole unit and it was not covered under the extended warranty i purchased for the vehicle. *tr
Both 2004 jeep cherokee special editions were purchased the same day at the same dealer, both in the past 6 months have need the window regulator replaced on the front passenger side. *tr
Climate control started blowing nothing but cold air out the passenger side vents. not warning preceded the failure. i just got a complaint from a passenger that they were freezing one day. research lead me to find it is a poorly designed blend door in the hvac system of wj grand cherokees. a quote of over $1000 to fix a cardboard part! *tr
While driving at 55 mph on interstate 45n, we heard a loud "pop", almost like a tire exploding. the driver side window collapsed inside the door, the noise and change in the environment caused the driver, my spouse, to snap her head in the direction of the wind and noise. she has pain in her neck from turning so quickly. realizing we were not being hit by another vehicle, she looked back to the road ahead where her attention should have been, only to realize she had seconds to avoid running off the road. when we pulled over to inspect what was happening, our little dog jumped out the window onto interstate 45. thank god we were able to get her to safety before the day got worse. we called our local dealer whom we paid a considerable amount of "cash" for the 2004 jeep cherokee special edition, they advised us it would cost $75 to diagnose the problem, most likely the windows regulator, $250 dollars for the part and $150 for the regulator. i asked about the vehicles warranty and was advised it was only 3 years. not sure what a window regulator was, i searched the internet, to learn that thousands of jeep owners have had this issue during the first few years of ownership. it appears there is a serious issue with these window regulators and the issue is being ignored by the manufacturer. this is an extremely dangerous condition and we are fortunate it did not result in a major incident. the design and/or mechanisms need to change to improve the safety of those navigating in a chrysler jeep product. bi shared my concerns with the service manager at the dealership i bought the suv. i was treated with respect when i was buying, but now my concerns fall on deaf ears. this won?t help me, but i hope it prevents someone from a similar experience. i will sell the vehicle at a reduced price, my spouse is afraid to drive it. she fears it happening again spontaneously and on all four windows. *tr
Jeep grand cherokee limited 2004- heat not working properly due to blend door misfunctioning. spent $1200 at jeep/chrysler dealership to fix and less than one winter later it is broken again. even replaced all parts t-working and non working parts. this is a major problem with jeep and this should be made a recall. thousands of others are in our same boat and there are forum set up just on this issue. this is too much money to spend every winter on the same malfunction! drove less than 10,000 miles in 12 months on my vehicle. this should not have recurred. *tr
Hot air/cold air blowing from vents when they're not set to do so. blend door failure. *tr
Heater sporadically works (blows cold air and defroster doesn't work) in my 2004 grand jeep cherokee overland. problem usually self corrects after several hours of driving. dealer states it is likely a blender door problem, but will not fix under my bumper to bumper extended chrysler warranty until the problem presents itself in the dealers possession. so far, they claim it has not presented itself despite several trips to dealer. *tr
I have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee and the passenger side heater output went to 'full cold'. took to dealer and was told 'hvac door replacement' was necessary at about $1200.00 cost to me. apparently a pin had broken off where the actuator attaches to the heater door. entire dash assembly had to be removed, also air conditioner gas had to removed and replaced. *tr
2004 jeep grand cherokee-drivers side window regulator broken in september. it cost $260 to replace. yesterday (november 25th), passenger side window fell. will cost a couple hundred more to replace the second window. *tr
Climate control system fails to operate intermittently and makes noises. *tr
After owning the car for a year the passenger's side heat doesn't work at all. we took it in to get it diagnosed. they told us it was the blend door and they estimated $500 plus. the mechanic said this wasn't the first time he'd seen this, that's how he was so easily able to diagnose it as a blend door problem. *tr
Passenger side only blows cold air. re-circulating feature doesn't work. this is on a 2004 jeep grand cherokee overland with dual climate controls. the blend door and recirc door is broken and i have heard of several cases of this happening to other owners. this affects all 1999-2004 cherokees with dual climate control and the deal gives estimates of 900-2500 to fix. *tr
Defroster/heater does not work on 2004 jeep cherokee. *tr
