This vehicle is subject to recall 12v527000. 10 months later, there is no fix from chrysler. we live in a safety inspection state. this vehicle cannot pass safety inspection with the air bag light on all the time. our past safety inspection expired 8/31/13. note that in our state, the safety inspection sticker is much larger than the registration sticker. it's easier for the police to detect expired safety than expired registration. we cannot legally drive this vehicle now & every consumer protection agency i've called tells me we have no recourse. this vehicle cannot even be sold here, except for parts!!!! we need to have something to drive while chrysler figures out how this can be fixed, but it seems they're allowed to assign the b team to this problem part-time - as long as they say they're working on it, who cares if a lot of people are stuck with long-term illegal vehicles. this is one heck of a way to treat customers, and there must be some **quick** avenue of redress for us, because we need a car now.
Chrysler has issued over 10 recalls on my 2002 jeep grand cherokee and have failed to complete any of the required recall service. they have not received any parts from their suppliers to replace the defective parts covered under the recall. the amount of affected vehicles are over 950.000 chrysler has still failed to resolve any of the outstanding recalls on my vehicle, and has not offered substitute transportation after 9 months that the numerous recalls were issued, and not resolved due to zero availability of replacement parts. this is a major safety liability that chrysler is conveniently ignoring updated 06/4/13*lj *tr

In november 2012, chrysler and you announced a recall of my and just under a million other 2002 jeep grand cherokees m35/nhtsa 12v-527. it is now three months later. about three weeks ago, i received a recall notice, telling me, firstly there was a recall (does it really take two+ months to notify me?) and that chrysler was hoping the parts for a permanent fix, currently unavailable, would be available as quickly as possible -- with absolutely no hint of how long this might be. does it really take more than three months to manufacture and distribute a part involved in a safety recall -- "a small chance of an inadvertent deployment of the front ...or side airbag! inadvertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash." and, as for nhtsa, shouldn't you be prodding chrysler to hasten the completion of this recall? *tr

I received a recall notice over 1 1/2 years ago on the jeep cherokee airbag system occupant restraint control module and every time i call the chrysler dealership they tell me it's not in yet. i find it hard to believe that something that can cause an accident has taken so long to replace. i would appreciate any help you can give me to get this resolved. it shouldn't take this long!! Tl* the contact owns a 2002 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where nhtsa campaign number: 12v527000 (air bags ) was performed the recall repairs but the air bag warning light remained illuminated after the repairs. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.
Airbag recall (m35 / nhtsa 12v-527). after repairs were completed on 03/26/2014 the airbag and seatbelt warning lights still on. dealer was not able to repair the defect. on 06/16/2014 dealer still not able to identify the cause and asked for $250 to further inspect the car to determine the cause. dealer wrote on paperwork "no communication from orc need more time (and money) to diagnose. customer declined at this time". i received the first notice in jan 2013 and the official recall months later. no parts were available for months. as soon as i received the recall notice i took the vehicle to the dealer. how can it take almost two years (from fall 2012) and still no solution to the problem? it is obvious that the manufacturer is delaying the repair as much as possible to reduce overtime the number of repairs. *tr
I own a 2002 jeep grand cherokee and both of the side curtain air bags deployed while i was driving. there was no impact or collision. i was making a right hand turn when the air bag light came on. immediately after that passenger side curtain air bag deployed. then a couple of seconds later the driver side curtain air bag deployed. i pulled into the store parking lot and had the car towed to a service shop. insurance investigator determined it was mechanical failure. *tr

In december of 2010 my side airbags deployed spontaneously while turning into a shopping center in woodbridge, va. after surveying the vehicle and finding no evidence of any crash or other reason for the airbag to deploy, i took my vehicle to lustine jeep in woodbridge, va. they looked over the vehicle and told me that it could not have happened the way i described it. after fighting with chrysler they agreed to cover some of the cost of replacing the airbag. i was charged $600 total. then in november of 2012 i learned that jeep was recalling grand cherokees and libertys in my vehicles age range for exactly what i described happened to me in 2010. since that time i have spoken to numerous people from the jeep dealership and from chrysler. i have received one recall notice that told me i would be receiving a second notice once a vendor had been found to produce the new corrective part. i was also told that i could not request a refund of the $600 i was charged until i get the second notice. i was told to expect the second notice in march or april of this year but that has not happened. it is now almost june and chrysler refuses to address this. i am driving around a vehicle that could pop its airbag at any moment and i cannot get chrysler to address the money that was taken from me for a safety issue that they should have taken care of in 2010. please help. *tr
I was driving my 2002 jeep grand cherokee when i began to take a right turn into a shopping center. suddenly, without warning, my side curtain airbag deployed with great force. i was able to slow the vehicle and then pull into a parking space without incident. upon inspection i found that there had been no impact, no damage to my vehicle in any way, except that the side airbag was now hanging down. chrysler initially refused to pay for any part of the incident, then finally agreed to pay for the airbag to be re-installed. i was made to pay for the airbag sensor ($200), the airbag console ($320) and a $100 deposit on the airbag itself. *tr

A vehicle recall notice was received 13 months ago advising of imminent airbag deployment in vehicles which have airbag warning lights on. this description fits my vehicle. over 13 months later, and none of the jeep dealerships in the denver area have ever received parts for this repair. i would like to file a complaint against chrysler regarding the failure to fix recalled units. 13 months is a bit extreme. and on top of that, new recalls have since been announced regarding the plastic fuel tank. i doubt that i'll ever see that repair... *tr
This jeep has failed me in every way possible. its unsafe and unreliable. at 68k the transmission went out in the middle of a dangerous highway almost wrecked, jeep said sorry warranty ran out at 65k. all 4 windows have fell out with a bang, multiple sensors have gone out, relay sensor, all shocks that hold up hood and lift gates have failed. radiator sprung a leak on monday and parking brake failed/broke/took it in for the airbag check on may 16 two months ago and its is one of the bad ones ..was told parts were ordered. now the light is on and wont go off..was told i have no airbag at all that will deploy... very unsafe and unfair. now its inspection time with this mess and no fix from jeep. they need to handle this and get sued...they have put my life in danger many times. *tr
