Severe steering wheel wobble during moderate braking causing some loss of control. a private brake specialist recommended the rotors be replaced due to warping. the dealer says this is normal wear even though the brake pads are only half worn.

On several occasions prior to accident, always under five miles an hour, i would step n the brake and the car wanted to keep going. on the occasion of the accident, i applied both feet to the brakes and the vehicle did not stop and hit a chain link fence. an invsestigator from chrysler check the vehicle on 8/29/01 and indicated that the only thing that could have happened is that the accelerator pedal sits high than the brake pedal and i hit both at the same time. my foot is not wide enough to hit both at the same time. in a previous incident, i was in park , put the vehicle into reverse and it lerched backward. the investigator could only duplicate the situation by putting his foot on both the brack and accelerator at the same time. this vehicle is unsafe and i am afraid to drive it.*ak

A 10 inch piece of the left rear brake rotor broke off and lodged between the brake assembly and the mag wheel, this caused the left rear wheel to stop turning and caused the vehicle to skid and swerve through a neighbors fence. *yh

This will be the third time in 30 days i have brought my car in for repair on the transmission. the engine light comes on and the outside temp. gauge says it's 125 degrees outside when it is 84 degrees. i press my foot on the pedal and it hesitates and slowly drives until the gear kicks in and then jumps forward. first they thought it was the transmission colnoid, then they thought it was the module unit now they say it's electrical. when pressing the brake, i feel a clicking on my foot that happens frequently then goes away. the dealership where it's being serviced is not sure what the problem is and it's taking a very long time to rectify the situation. i am a previous grand cherokee owner and had consistant problems with the rotors and that one. i am now unsure of my safety and the reliability of this vehicle. i have already consulted an attorney and can only hope that it doesn't need to come to that. what can i do to rectify this situation ?*ak

My wife and i purchased a new 2001 chrysler grand cherokee and have had nothing but problems with our brakes, rotors and calipers. the warranty covered it for the first three years and the chrysler manufacturing paid for repairs up to now, but are now refusing to pay for future repairs. and it's due again, the brakes and rotors have been replaced every year. i believe this is a secret recall and i'm sure a technical service bulletin was issued to all the dealer repair shops and that angers me and i'm sure a lot of your complaints as well my wife and i are at our wit's end and don't know who to turn to. this to me, warrants a nation wide recall, does someone have to die before chrysler takes this complaint seriously or has it already happened and the people who investigated the accident wasn't aware of this dangerous defect, who knows? we refuse to trade it in or sell because we simply can't afford it at this time, it's paid for. any advice and/or guidance will be appreciated. thanks. *jb

Brakes were pulsating due to warped rotors, which decreased stopping distance. this caused steering wheel to jerk violently. the higher the speed, the more pronounced it became. dealer's remedy was to shave down the rotors.*ak

Brake rotors went bad. vehicle would vibrate when brakes applied. no problem with stopping if pressing hard enough. took to dealership, and mechanic indicated rotors needed to be replaced after test driving vehicle & felt the vibration.*ak the vehicle is driven extensively on the expressway where brakes are used very little, the consumer feel the rotors should not have to be replaced after only 8 months of use, there is still a noise coming from under the car that was not fixed when the rotors were relaced. nlm

While driving 40 mph and without warning vehicle will vibrate violently. dealer has been notified, and has also repaired vehicle 3 different times. however, vehicle is out of warranty.*akdealer wanted consumer to have after market parts put on at consumers expense. every time vehicle has been in for repair, the mechanic claims they found the problem but the vehicle still vibrates. *jg

During normal operation of the vehicle and driving at any speed, and when brake system is activated, a severe vibration starts to occur. dealership has examined vehicle four times, and has been unable to effectively remedy the problem. corrective action taken by the dealership is to replace the brake rotors and brake pads and wheel bearings. *ak the vehicle pulls right while driving due to hub and bearing failure. while driving, the rear end makes noise due to bearing and pinion worn out. grease leaking around both front wheels because of drive shaft failure. left and right front cv boot were leaking. *yh

A subtle vibration occurred while breaking well before 12,000 miles; however, i didn't do anything at that time. the vibration progressively got worse to where the steering wheel shook violently by 20,000. i had vehicle serviced and was told that the pads are fine, but the rotors were severely out of variance and that they see that frequently on jeep cherokees. i had the rotors turned only to begin exeriencing a vibration only 4000 miles later.
