I bought the car in september 2007..in november i was on the highway and suddenly the car started to overheat had to get it towed to the nearest auto shop where they said the radiator was damaged and had to be changed...couple days later the fan stopped working which also had to be changed. after all the over heating the mechanic told me the engine burned out and also had to be replaced after the fact my car wouldnt start. had the truck working for a while until april 2008 where my transmission started failing. i kept hearing a clicking noise and the truck wouldnt accelerate as fast it should have been. had the transmission replaced at cottman transmission. after all this had happened the engine light came on and i couldnt get my inspection done, turned out to be a hose causing air to be released. it is now january 2009 and my truck has leaked out all its antifreeze once again its over heating. all in all since september 2007 i have spent over $3500-$4000 on this truck. still making payments on the truck from college hill auto in pennsylvania. *tr

I have a 2000 grand cherokee jeep limited that i purchased new. it was fairly ok until 2003 at about 60k miles. that's when the radiator starting leaking. it was replaced in 2003 and annually thereafter (5 replacements) with the last one in march 2007. additionally, i have had several water pumps plus replacing the heater core. the dealer says they can't find the cause for the radiators to continue to breakdown every year with less than 10k and under 12 months each time. i believe the jeep has an inherent flaw in the cooling system design. chrysler continues to ignore the problem and will not pay for any future radiators which almost assuredly will breakdown again in the near future. *jb

Just disgusted with the number of repairs i have needed to make to this vehicle. in the last six years the following repairs have been done: brakes replaced 3 times and need to be done again door window motor cooling fan, radiator evaporator coils hood lifters-hood will not stay up drivers door clunks starter compressor leaking axle seals and now i have a cracked head on the engine. the jeep just failed out of the blue. glad i was close to home. this vehicle is a lemon. buy american again--most likely not. are our "american" vehicles being built with inferior parts? or are they programmed to be obsolete within a few years? *nm

My fan module is bad in my 2000 jeep grand cherokee limited 4 x 4, but i have not received a recall notice, even though it falls in the right time period of the safety recall notice. *jb
Tie rods, wheel bearings, ball joints, fan clutch, shorted engine compartment wiring harness, fuel pump assembly all gone wrong from time of purchase; january 2000/brand new to sept. 2006...some pd. under warranty others after 2004 not; even though the defects usually do not happen to a jeep grand cherokee/fully loaded. the last straw was the ball joints; we asked if some form of recall should of been done and then asked for a reimbursement because my wife's' 2004 jeep liberty limited had a recall on it's ball joints/lower ones so after having mine replaced last friday 9/15/2006 we asked about the grand cherokee and it's ball joints; we also updated on all the defects we've had to correct and wondered if it wasn't a expensive lemon...$35,000.00 is what i paid. we called chrysler main customer service and was only told were sorry, the age of the jeep and past warranty...what does that have to do with all the past defects since 2000 and the fact we tried their customer service in 2002 and got no where again. no matter the age of the vehicle...safety is safety. and if ball joints go bad for no reason and have to be replaced then, it should go as a safety concern for all their vehicles. *jb
9/12/06 - had electric fan motor assembly replaced while traveling by mcgee tire stores in tallahassee, fl for $535. 9/15/06 - received recall notice f25 from daimler chrysler for same as repair. 01/02/07 - inspected by dayton andrews daimler chrysler to verify work was completed. sent original repair receipt, dayton andrews letter and recall notice with letter to daimler chrysler requesting reimbursement for repairs. 01/16/06 - received a call from "randi" at daimler chrysler stating that she revieved our paperwork and determined we were not entitled to reimbursement because we chose not to have jeep perform the work. she refused to let me speak with her supervisor and stated that she was "empowered by daimler chrysler to make this decision not to reimburse." the receipt of the recall notice occurred directly following us having to have this work done while traveling to tallahassee, several hundred miles from home and stranded without a working vehicle. while we were having this work performed, we were unaware of this recall as we had not yet received the notification. how do we appeal to daimler chrysler to reconsider this claim? i have soft copies of all documents, in case "randi" chooses not to return my original documents, which i can produce upon request. thank you for your help.

I am the owner of a 2000 jeep grand cherokee. on thursday august 10, 2006, my electric motor driven cooling fan exploded, causing damage to my shroud and puncturing two holes in my radiator. this has done significant damage to my car. it is undriveable until all of these components are replaced. i contacted daimler chrysler's 800 number and was told that there was not a recall on this part. i called my local jeep dealer and was told the same. i have pulled up letters from the director of vehicle compliance and safety affairs from daimler chrysler stating there will be a recall to replace all cooling fans, and equipment. i am very upset over how i was treated at dce over this matter. there was no assistance given other than, to call back later on if i received a letter. these parts are very expensive, and i feel that if there is a recall,....... then this matter should be taken care of, and not done so out of my pocket. *nm

The engine simply stops without warning. i had taken it to dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. four days later while driving to the dealer it died on a 6 lane street. i was in our other vehicle and towed it to the dealer myself. it has been 6 days and i have not heard from them. *jb
Cooling fan relay module failure in 2000 jeep grand cherokee this relay is a persistent source of failure in this vehicle. in 90k miles i am on my 3rd and the dealer parts and service know this problem with great familiarity. it appears this component has inadequate cooling properties. either it is undersized for the loader requires a larger heat sink to better dissipate heat. what make its a bigger problem is the location under the battery tray requires significant disassembly to access replacement. do i have any recourse with the manufacturer? *jb
Engine cooling system fan began causing vibration to the front of the vehicle. the fan only engages when the air conditioner is on. *nm

Driving down the freeway and it felt like i ran over something. my wife noticed black pieces hitting the pavement behind us. drove the rest of the way home and when i pulled in the driveway i saw steam coming from under my hood. i let it cool and found out that the cooling fan was in multiple pieces. one piece was jammed between the radiator shroud and the radiator. i also noticed that my radiator was leaking from two spots where it looked like the fan parts hit the radiator. looked on the internet and found nhtsa campaign id number : 06v199000. called jeep corp office and they didn't know of the recall and would not offer to fix since i had 86k miles. said i could be reimbursed if my jeep s/n was included in the recall and that i would receive a post card. the jeep dealer was out of my budget to repair so i bought a new fan assembly and a new radiator and replaced it my self. i was just lucky because i was on vacation and planned to do a tune up on the jeep the next day. *jb

200 jeep grand cherokee. 98000 miles engine surges on start and when idling. surge rises to 2500 rpm falls to 1500, rises to 2000 etc until it reaches 700 rpm normal idle. when in operation the surge occurs and would move the car forward if brakes are not applied. surge can also be felt when decelerating and braking. intermittent but persistent problem for start up and operation. does not occur often enough or for long enough periods to catch on diagnostics. if gears engaged when in high idle it squeals rubber even with brakes applied. *nm
