We have classified the 32 complaints from 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
My 2000 jeep grand cherokee has had a heater problem. it gets so hot that it can burn my fingers. then all of a sudden on the passenger side the heat doesn't work it only blows cold air through the vent and on the floor.*ak also in the trasnmission when you come to a stop you can sometimes feel a loud thump like someone just rear ended you. it happens about 3-4 times a week.
I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee that i purchased in 2003 with only 27k on it and a factory warranty i also purchased a extended bumper to bumper warranty from the jeep dealer when i bought the vehicle at about 75k the vehicle lost all heat on the passenger side it only blows cold air i took the vehicle back to the dealer ship to have it looked at they told me it could of been one of two things either the heater control unit or the blend doors but almost always it is the blend doors, they then told me that it was not covered due to the warranty expired a few months before and that it would cost me over $1000 dollars to fix i have been driving the vehicle all this time with no heat because i can not afford to fix it and it is a major safety hazard as all winter long my car will not defrost, i can only see out a little space in the window when the temp drops to freezing, if i knew back then that this issue is affecting almost every jeep owner out there not a select few i would of acted sooner but as i cant stand it anymore i did some research and found many sites that have hundreds even thousands of people affected by the faulty parts installed by the chrysler corp this type of issue is not supposed to happen when you spend 30+k on a vehicle. *tr
I am writing to express my frustration and anger regarding my 2000 grand cherokee. since this past october, i have experienced a myriad of problems which include the following: 1. a broken ventilation deflector which prevents any air from coming through the ventilation. i spent nearly $100.00 to find out that it is a $37.00 part with $500.00 in labor just to install it. i have children in the car, and the summer heat of 100+ degrees is in my mind, dangerous. 2. all of the passenger doors cannot be opened either manually or remotely from the outside or inside. i received an estimate to replace the lock actuators at a staggering cost of $500.00 per lock! the doors can_x0019_t be opened from the outside or from the inside without systematically unlocking the doors with the remote, then reaching in from the drivers seat to manually unlock them from the inside. it doesn_x0019_t take a genius to see that this is a huge safety issue if i happen to get in an accident and the passengers (children) are unable to get out of the vehicle. the jeep mechanic said this is a common occurrence with jeeps for quite a while. 3. the driver side mirror broke when my wife was adjusting the angle of the mirror. there is now no tension to hold the mirror in place. all of these problems began 8 months ago and i am more than a little angry about it, especially when none of these items are covered past the 3 year warranty. all tolled, i am looking at spending somewhere in the range of $3000.00 to fix these problems. right now i am extremely unsatisfied customer, and expect some healthy measure of cooperation from jeep.*ak
No heat from passenger side of 2000 grand jeep cherokee. blend door issue. *jb
Ventilation system becagn to act irregular and then did not work at all. defrost as well as other vent uses were of no use to the driver during the winter/cold weather here. the dealer tech told me it was a resistor theat melted the harness. tech said he never saw anything like this. they needed to order the parts to fix, meanwhile i am waiting to speak with the salesperson who sold my family this vehicle.*ak
I purchased a 2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo in august 2000. yesterday, my transmission failed and would jerk when shifted into reverse. today, i contacted the dealership and was basically told "too bad," because my warranty was expired. i asked to speak to the gentleman that sold me the jeep, was placed on hold for several minutes and then transferred to someone else's voice mail. my jeep is 3 years old and has 60,000 miles on it (transmission failure!!!--i've had vehicles for 10 years with no transmission problems and three times as many miles). the business manager stated that she had seen vehicles with 3,000 miles on them fail (better watch out). the estimated cost to fix the transmission $1650. i purchased this vehicle new for reliable transportation and have had problems ever since. i have also had problems with the brakes and had to get the front rotors replaced as they were warped. my back windshield wiper hesitates before starting. it is sometimes hard to start and that has been happening since shortly after purchase. staff at the dealerships are rude and unresponsive when notified of problems. staff at the dealership informed me that repairs on my jeep for a wiring problem would take 3 days, and they ordered the wrong parts and kept my jeep for over 2 weeks (and then i had to take it back the next day due to wiring problems). i also hope chrysler is aware that they have just lost a loyal jeep owner/fan. i will never purchase another jeep and will certainly not recommend it to anyone. i can't wait to get rid of this piece of crap. *la
2000 jeep cherokee limited dual climate control, it started with no heat on the passenger side and now the drivers side is blowing cold air also (no heat). dealer knows its a issue and its not covered under the warranty.. (temp. control doors made of plastic) this should be a recall for defected parts and design.... *tr
When rolling up the power rear windows there will be a gap on the side causing the child finger to get caught. dealer notified. *ak
The rear windshield wipers were defective. the rotors were replaced, there was a gap in the back door which caused the door locks not to work, the door had to be repainted and the steering wheel cover peeled. mr *ts *jb
Problem: brakes when i am traveling approximately 50 mph, and i brake, the car vibrates. i believe that there must be a problem with the rotors. this has been going on for quite awhile, but recently, i learned that this is a problem with many jeeps. also, the mirrors (on the sides of the car) flip back and forth too easily. i had someone look at these, and i was told that the springs are gone. this seems to be shadily made, and there is no good reason why the mirrors should be flipping back and forth. *nm
Ventilation system stopped working. i was told resistor overheats causing harness and motor to melt. repair is $500.00+ service technician said it "happens alot". seems to me resistor needs to be upgraded.*ak
Driver's power window has stopped working 3 times since the vehicle was purchased. two different dealers have only temporarily repaired the problem.
Taken to dealer prior to warranty expiration, they could not duplicate problem. after warranty expired, the heater blend door completely failed, causing a lack of heat/defrost - repaired. problem returned 12/2007 vehicle is doing the same thing again, will need repairing. *tr
I was travelling approximately 55 mph with the sunroof open and all the other windows closed when the rear window imploded inward. there was no evidence of anything hitting the window and there were no other cars or people in the near vicinity. i am wondering if some kind of pressure could have been created that caused the window to implode. it was quite violent when it happened and could have easily caused an accident.*ak
When the consumer applied the brakes they pulsated, which caused the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance. dealer notified. *ak consumer wouldn't let her 15 yr. old daughter drive the vehicle in fear of the brakes failing, nor would she sell it. the vehicle had been to the mechanic many times and the problem continued to exist. *ph. the rotors and pads were replaced several times. the driver's side door was hard to lock, and the windshield wipers worked intermittently. *jb
Consumer states while driving at highway speed, the vehicle became extremely dangerous when braking, and the vehicle began shaking violently, the rotors have been replaced 4 times due to warpage and the brake pads have been replaced once.*jb
