After each time of re-fueling the vehicle stalls while trying to drive, doesn't want to run; vehicle asks to be shifted into park and we try and pull over off on a busy 6 lane roadway. screen says service transmission after stalling. then the vehicle got stuck in 3rd gear. weren't sure if we would make it home. called jeep customer service and they would not help in any way.
Oil leak from cracked oil cooler. could cause fire. poor/defective design and bad location near heat. needed an expensive replacement. many others needed replacement also. jeep customer care was no help.
I was driving on the highway and my check engine, transmission and park lights started flashing. my car wouldn't accelerate and my computer said 'service transmission'. now my car won't shift gears or accelerate. it has 40k miles on it.
Multiple times after fueling up my vehicle my car will start to shake and sputter and just stall. has happened while on the highway with my family and almost caused a bad wreck. most recently it happened again on local streets. dealer keeps saying they can't figure it out but i videotaped the issue. also when fueling up the vehicle it gives a problem and takes forever to fuel up and spits gas out and back on to me . i don't feel safe driving this car anymore with my family and fca doesn't want to acknowledge there is an issue and says just fill the tank up only 3/4 .. something needs to be done !!
While driving my vehicle will say service transmission and get stuck in first gear without letting me go any faster than what i was going. in order for it to work normally again, i would need to pull over and restart my car. this usually happens while on the highway which is highly dangerous.
Brought vehicle in to the dealership for repairs on several ocassions with complaints of vehicle jumping into gear. recently had to replace the battery because vehicle wouldn't stay running and could not put into gear. vehicle is currently at the dealership because it was leaking oil. have been told that the oil cooler needs to be replaced. have also been told that the drive shaft is noisy and should be replaced and that the air temperature ambient sensor needs to be replaced. i gave the go ahead to replace the oil cooler and air temperature ambient sensor. told them to hold off on replacing the drive shaft as the repair alone for the oil cooler and sensor was going to be approximately $1,300. i then received a call back and was told that they changed the oil cooler and upon trying to start the vehicle it didn't want to start. they told me multiple codes were coming up and that my instrument cluster needed to be replaced at an additional cost of over $1,000. estimate for all repairs to be $2,500 plus. was also told that the instrument cluster is a special order and once ordered they would have to hold my vehicle for two weeks until it came in and could be installed. it is costing me $35.00 a day for a rental vehicle through them. i estimate total cost for repairs and rental to be about $3,000. this cost does not include the replacing the drive shaft which they tell me is noisy.
Check engine light came on. had computer scanned. code p0520 engine oil sensor failure was detected. called jeep warranty department and they said the repair was not covered by powertrain warranty. this sensor is located under the plenum and intake manifold which bolts to the engine heads. this vehicle only has 30,000 miles on it.
Traveling on town road. the battery light came lit up on the control panel with a warning to put vehicle in park. engine completely shut off. gas pedal unresponsive. we pulled over to the side of the road. tried to restart vehicle several times over the course of 15+ minutes. vehicle finally restarted like normal. turned vehicle around by crossing over double yellow lines, put in reverse. vehicle completely shut off leaving us disabled across road, same warning and battery light on. engine finally restarted 10 minutes later. returned the vehicle safely home.
My jeep cherokee keeps repeating the same problems. this has been going on for more than a year. sometimes i am terrified to drive because i do not know what is going to happen. today and on other days, the jeep has cut off on me a few times while in motion on a city street and sometimes when turning. the vehicle slams into gear when driving sometimes and feels like i am getting hit in the rear of the car. it is very dangerous because you don't know when it is going to happen. today, the jeep almost caused an accident when it just stopped on its own. additionally, it often shifts gears erratically and very rough, even jerking at times. the dealership said they did a software update but this did not resolve the issue. i have taken to the dealer at least three times about this issue and i keep getting stalled saying either come back in 500 miles so the can do an oil consumption test or that they cannot duplicate the issue. each time i take it in they say the did a software update or an oil change. the problem remains.
After transmission recall repair, engine replaced due transmission recall repair 3rd time, vehicle idles rough when in neutral, check engine light came on and jeep died. the vehicle started after a moment and the check engine light went off. still having same issues after transmission repaired and a new engine due to the dealership resetting the computer instead of repairing the transmission. so new engine and repaired transmission, still having issues. constant issue with the jeep idling roughly, sometimes not starting or stalling in traffic on the highway and city streets.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated suddenly and the vehicle shook and lost power on the highway while driving 60 mph. the contact had to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. the failure occurred several times and the vehicle was taken to fields chrysler jeep dodge ram asheville (255 smokey park highway, asheville, nc 28806, (828) 667-5213) three times. the dealer stated that the new variable valve actuator assembly failed and it was replaced during the second visit. during the first visit, the dealer stated that the vehicle was low on oil and topped it off. the contact had a code reader, which located codes p1042 and p0302 for cylinder misfire. the contact had to pay for a diagnostic test even though she located the codes with her own code reader. the vehicle was currently back at the dealer for a third time with the same failures and the same codes. the manufacturer was contacted and assigned a case manager. the manufacturer stated that they would call the contact back. the failure mileage was 78,000.
I was stopped at a light. when i depressed the accelerator, warning lights flashed on my dash, the engine stalled and a message to "shift to p then desired gear". car was hard to start afterwards, issue happened 3 more times on the way back home (less than 1 mile). car has been brought to mechanic for diagnostic testing. i did research online and this appears to be a known issue with the transmission. hopefully will still be covered under warranty.
I was in the turning lane to turn into a grocery store and when i accelerated to turn my jeep accelerated then the check engine light came on the service transmission light, traction control light, service parking brake light, there were several lights that came on and my jeep was still running but stopped accelerating as i was turning into the store on a busy 4 lane road and i was pushing the gas but the vehicle would not move i coasted into the start of the parking lot where it was now telling me to shift my car into park as i did then shifted back to drive and tried to finish pulling into the store parking lot and still nothing. so i put the vehicle into park shut it off sat for a min turned it back on placed it back in drive the check engine light was still on so i drove it to the nearest auto zone to get the code checked because it was a sunday (today 10/7/18) and the dealer ship is closed. they were unable to find a code and once the jeep was turned back on all lights were off. i drove it home and parked it and i am taking it to the deal ship tomorrow. 2 weeks ago thursday sept 27th my car stalled and shut off at a stop light while taking my kids to school the morning after filling my car with gas. it started back up immediately then shook like it may die again then nothing. no light indicators at all came on during that incident so i figured it could have been bad gas and thought nothing of it since i didn't have any other trouble til today. my children were with me both times and we got lucky this incident that happened today sunday oct 7th 2018 we did not get hit because i barely made it into the parking.
On several occasions, this car has just stopped while in motion. dashboard lights light up, get transmission warning. have taken the car in on numerous occasions to be told that it needed an update on the computer. it is very scary to be driving a car and not know when or if it will shut off, and that an "update" would cause such an incident. i have had trouble with this car since the day we purchased it. i have reached out to jeep and they just said to take it back to the shop so they could run tests on it, this was after it had been in the shop for 3 weeks. it seems like many others are having the same issue with the same model car. someone is going to get killed if something isn't done with these issues. there should have been a recall in this faulty vehicle. i am posting that this new occurance happened today, but it has happened on several other occasions.
Engine runs rough and it studded under low speeds
Oil filter housing assembly is leaking. you can see oil leaking out of a port while running. oil is puddling up and running down the motor. this can cause engine failure or a fire.. this vehicle was purchased certified pre owned; i am not sure if this is stil under warranty. definitely is a safety hazard also the transmission on occasion shifts really hard when moving from one gear to the next.
Car started to loose power while driving down the interstate, acted like it was going to stall, giving more gas only made the problem worse. was not able to go over 45 mph unless going down hill. had the same problem 6 months ago and was covered by warranty. took car to the dealership and this time its not under warranty.
Service transmission and will not shift gears, service park brake.
I bought my jeep cherokee 2014 awd with 60k miles on it. within in 6 months, my dashboard said service transmission and it was undriveable. the dealership said it was software issue and fixed it. not even a year later and i had the same issue again and it is now getting a new transmission. often when driving, it revs very high and goes nowhere, or if i'm cruising a parking lot, its revving very high and will jerk into another gear. not only that, but i've had know drive shaft bearing ands a new radio put it. the big issue is the transmission and the repeated tows, missing work, late to work, engine shaking, grinding, and now being replaced. i've owned it my own for 1.5 years, am already at this point. dealership won't replace it, just told me i have it covered under warrantly and oh well. these issues have happened when starting my car in the morning to leave my driveway, won't shift into gear. driving on the highway attempting to switch lanes and have no acceleration so i slam on the brakes before i get into an accident because i know if it doesn't take off, its not going to until i least expect it.
9-speed auto transmission which mine has rough, delayed or sudden shifting or failure to shift conditions with grinding or other loud noise during shifting ' harsh engagement of gears; sudden or harsh acceleration/deceleration; sudden loss of power; premature transmission wear or failure.
I first experienced what felt like my transmission wasn't shifting properly right away. i noticed it in lower gears. i took it back to the dealership and they said everything was fine. i then started to experience my engine randomly stalling. i would be going slow and i was usually taking a right turn. i went to turn on my car and it said engine failure. i called the dealership and they said to tow it to them. i received a call that the reason my car ahut off was because there wasn't any oil. i have all my records and my oil had been changed at a dealership less than two weeks prior. so they put oil in it and said i was fine. within a week my car died turning right on rail road tracks in an instersection. we had to have a police officer come and push us off the tracks and wait for us to get towed. the dealership told my there was a harness that needed to be replaced and it would cost $700! they said that he harness was under my hood when i did research it was discovered that it was in my trunk. they said it needed to be replaced due to water damage. in my trunk? i did research and found this harness was a common issue but it didn't have anything to do with the issues i was having. now it is a year later and we are having the same issue. my service lights will turn on randomly. my engine stalled on the highway going 70 mph. i am at a loss what to do. my two year old has been in the car with me when this happens and i just want to know my car is safe to drive.
Vehicle will randomly shut off while in motion. this happened today 7/26/18 and 2 other times this past month. no check engine lights or other warnings. after shutting off nothing on the vehicle works not even hazard lamps.
When the vehicle was in motion, i was on a city street, the vehicle randomly stalled while driving 10mph. the dash screen stated, "place in 'p' then select gear." i then placed the car in park and tried turning the ignition but it did not start. i had to get a stranger to jump start my car and eventually the car started. this happened a few months ago and since then this has happened twice. the second time this happened, vehicle was in motion while pulling into a gas station on a city street and it randomly stalled. i turned the ignition and it started up. this is extremely dangerous and thankfully on both occasions there has been no car driving behind me.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving 56 mph, the vehicle stalled and a malfunction indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (lithia dodge ram fiat of las cruces, 860 n telshor blvd, las cruces, nm 88011, (575)-888-3588) for diagnostic testing and repairs. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the results of the diagnostic test were unknown. the failure mileage was 20,000.
My jeep in currently being serviced for the third time, same problem. my jeep will stop on the highway, at highway speeds, transmission goes to neutral, engine idles. you stop the car, shift to park and turn the engine off, then you can start it up, all the dash board lights are lit and when you shift to drive it bangs. this same scenario has happened over 20 times.
While driving my 2014 jeep cherokee just shut down. after jumping the battery as soon as we took the cables off the car shut off again. my vehicle was in motion on a city street
Engine code p0520. my repair shop said this is a very common 2014 jeep issue. my sensor says there is no oil pressure, however, my cars oil pressure is fine. car drives fine other than the engine light on.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while at a stop sign, the vehicle shut down, the brakes lost power, and the anti-skid and check engine warning indicators illuminated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer from where it was purchased. the contact took the vehicle back to regal nissan (770-998-8686, located at 1090 holcomb bridge rd, roswell, ga 30076) and was informed to call a jeep dealer. the contact called robert loehr chrysler dodge jeep ram srt and fiat at 770-382-5885 (located at 567 e main st, cartersville, ga 30121) and was informed to take the vehicle back to the nissan dealer from where it was purchased. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 43,600.
The vehicle just stops with no warning while i am driving! the first time was on the nj turnpike doing 70 mph in the left lane. started it back up and it did the same thing about 30 minutes later. took it to jeep service and they said it was a loose wire. seemed ok for a few months and then it happened again. jeep replaced the transmission module. drove it another few months - happened again and this time they replaced the computer system. this is a very dangerous problem and i was petrified to drive the vehicle. when i complained to chrysler, all they could do was offer me a cdi code which is a tiny discount on a new chrysler vehicle. i finally just traded the car in and purchased another vehicle but i lost a lot of money in doing so. this situation is very dangerous and i could have been killed in this vehicle. let me repeat, this has happened 4 times so below, when you ask "when did this happen" - i am using the date of the last incident.
After filling up vehicle with gas (2 separate occurrences), the vehicle will cut-off while driving for 1-2 blocks. a prompt on the dashboard would state "place gear into park" and a restart of vehicle would be necessary. first occurrence happen in 2/19/2018 and 3/28/2018. when first occurrence happened, the vehicle was dropped off at dealership and was instructed by service department the vehicle needed to be "flashed or reprogrammed" to resolve issue. since then, the second occurrence happened recently 3/28/2018 and it needed to be towed to dealership for another inspection/diagnostic. it was then mentioned by service department, the reason for cut-off issue. the vehicle was low on oil (1 quart less). major concern with vehicle not being trusted worthy while driving and possible accident may happen because of issue. also being told 2 different reasons why issue happened.
When parking my car and driving into the space suddenly i had an engine surge. it happened so suddenly. i tried to park it yet again and the same thing happened. this time i received damage to my vehicle when it was stopped by a large light pole. i called triple a and had it brought to the dealership. they put new brakes on the car. i felt secure . the third time i was slowing down due to vehicles in front of me. suddenly the car surged again. i pulled out of my lane quickly so i would not hit the cars in front of me. now i was in the oncoming lane. i saw a car horizontal to my car. brakes did nothing to stop me. i hit her car. it happened so fast. luckily, the passenger was shaken up and taken to the hospital. this happened on a city st. the vehicle was in the process of turning into the library when the accident happened.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving at an unknown speed, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to jeff wyler automotive family (401 milford pkwy a, milford, oh 45150) where it was diagnosed that the oil sensor failed. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that there was no recall for the failure. the failure mileage was 1,800. the vin was not available.
Transmission slips, causing excessive rpms, abrupt and jolting shifts, and sudden variations in rpms. this has been an issue with the vehicle for several years. have tired multiple times going to dealer to have the issue solved, but have only been given new updates which have failed to solve the problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 55 mph and approaching a red light, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the contact shifted into park and attempted to restart the vehicle. after five times, the vehicle restarted and then stalled again. the contact stated that the failure occurred every time the oil was low. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the vehicle was consuming a lot more oil than normal. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
While driving about 60 mph the car lost all acceleration and slowed very quickly, the engine light came on and the assist emergency brake light came on ( i think that was what it said. as i pulled to the road side there was little no rpms . i shut the car off and waited , restarted and still no rpms. i disconnected the battery after googling the problem and restarted and lights where all gone . this was great for about 4 days and maybe 300 miles and again it happened . this time i had my cade reader and received a p1dcd code, i did not clear code but shut engine down and restarted. the car ran with rpms ok but was a bit sluggish . i called dealer when i got home and they said i would have to pay for them to do a diognostic test to figure what the problem is. i drive my kids in the mornings and feel this could lead to a serious accident . i dont feel safe driving it myself let alone my children with me.
I was cleaning my driveway and noticed a huge puddle of oil underneath my 2014 jeep cherokee. upon further inspection i noticed a substantial amount of oil puddled up around the oil cooler assembly. oil is splashing all over my engine compartment including the exhaust. i'm concerned of a fire starting so i'll have to repair it right away. the complain is simply this: the vehicle is barely 4 years old and has a major problem such as this. it could be a very big safety risk and have read up as it seems to be confined to the year 2014 of similar engine size or type such as 3.2 or 3.6 l v 6 engines.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving unknown speeds in july of 2017, the vehicle stalled and the service transmission and check engine indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer (darcars chrysler dodge jeep ram of rockville, 755 rockville pike, rockville, md 20852), but they were unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. while driving 45 mph, the accelerator pedal was applied, but failed to respond and the vehicle stalled. the service transmission and check engine indicators illuminated again. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 40,729. *tt *tr
Bought the car with 31000 miles on it, at 40000 oil cooler started leaking like a sieve!!!! dealer says it's not a covered repair! this appears to be a major problem with jeeps.
The car continually stalls out without warning. i have taken it to our local dealer twice and they say they can not find any problem. at first they stated the oil level read low. we had them do a complete oil change and one month later the same issue. after reviewing the internet it seems to be a very dangerous safety issue that chrylser dodge jeep just wants to ignore. mostly occurs when slowing down at a stop sign or red light. will stall in the middle of the road and the check engine/battery light displays. you need to wait 2-3 minutes and restart. all diagnostic tests report negative. fear for my safety and that of those on the road with me!
The car jerks while driving on the highway/local roads and i have reported this matter to the chrysler service center where i take it for maintenance and have not been able to get any appointments. this problem has been ongoing since december 2017 and i reported it january 2018 when i got it serviced at smithhaven chrysler. i called in april 2018 for appointment and was informed there nothing until the end of may but i was leaving the country. called again in june when i returned to the states and was told there was nothing until august 27, i explained to the secretary the problem with the car and she said "sorry, there's nothing i can do for you". she also said that if i dropped the car off, i wouldn't get the car back for 2 weeks. i have also had a software update done and that helped for about a month.
My jeep cherokee 2014 has been having engine problems since i bought it. last night was the worst experience, thats why im here. i was on the highway and the jeep just started to brake on its own. i was sliding in the snow and almost fliped. i was able to control the jeep. i had trouble pulling it to the shoulder of the highway. had to force drive to the side. would not go on reverse. when the town truck arrived,he had trouble putting it on tow truck. this problem needs to be looked at before someone dies over something that could have been fixed.
The 2014 jeep cherokee completely stalls while driving with a message that states "must be in p to shift gears". the vehicle also stalls while driving after filling the gas tank, with the same message. the dealer cannot identify the problem. i've seen several other complaints from owners for the exact same thing that don't seem to be getting addressed. failure to address this issue is a risk to those owning the vehicles as well as others on the roads and poses a major liability to the company if nothing is done to resolve the issue. i'm listing the most recent date, however this is not the first time it's happened.
After filling my tank with gas i turned onto a nearby roadway and felt my car sputtering and jerking. as i came to a slow stop at a stop light my car abruptly slammed to a stop and made a loud bang/slamming noise and prompted me to shift to park and restart the car. i followed these commands and the car would not move. as soon as i would shift out of park the loud slamming would occur again and i began to smell fumes so i stopped trying to follow the prompts. i put my car in neutral and pushed my car out of the moving traffic lanes and got it towed. the dealership claimed nothing is wrong with my vehicle and gave it back. i have experienced the same issue 3 times since. they replaced an evaporation pressure switch the second time i took my car in and this still has not fixed the issue. the last time the issue occurred i was slowing down on a highway in dense traffic and as traffic started moving again my gas pedal stopped working. i could not accelerate when i pressed the gas i only heard loud revving noises as my car coasted.. when i went to press the brakes and pull off the road i immediately heard the loud slamming noise and my car broke down again in a very unsafe location on the highway. i waited one hour and my car was able to restart and i slowly got it off the highway with my e-lights on. i will be taking it to the shop after the new year.. again. worst of all after looking into this issue online i see it is common among jeep vehicles. not just the cherokee. happens after i gas up. it is extremely unsafe as i have almost been rear ended at high speeds by other cars on the roadway. has been listed in forums as somesort of rollover fuel valve. please investigate before more serious injuries or even death occurs assuming that hasn't already happened. also please note that since the work they did on 2nd visit to dealer i have had check gas cap and engine lights on
Since i purchased my used vehicle i have had a reoccurring issue where the vehicle hesitates to accelerate in the first gear. recently it has gotten so severe that the vehicle completely shuts off. i've noticed that it occurs most frequently after i fill my tank and after prolonged periods of being stopped. it has occurred four times on the highway while sitting in traffic and most recently while waiting at a red light. when it occurs the vehicle still has power running through and a notices always pops up saying "car must be in park in order to shift." in all cases i have had to turn the vehicle off and wait several minutes before the car was able to turn back on. in all cases no indicator light appeared as to what the problem could be. after taking the vehicle to get serviced thew first time i was told it was the battery. the second time i took it to get serviced i was told the evaporated canister and purge solenoid had to replaced. the issue still exists and the dealership has asked me to continue driving the vehicle as is until a service light appears because they do not know what the problem can be. this vehicle is not safe to drive as is.
My vehicle has always had difficulty shifting and would often have hard shifts between gears. at 22,562 miles i brought my car in for this issue, prompting jeep to update my vehicle's software. the problem persisted, but i was told it was just the performance of my 4-cylinder engine. at mileage 58,160 while driving on the highway and merging lanes, my vehicle completely lost any ability to accelerate and lost all power functions. i was able to use the vehicle's momentum to get into the breakdown lane. the vehicle had a message on my driver's dash instructing me to shift the car to park. after doing so the vehicle still would not start until i shut it off and restarted the vehicle.again, jeep re-programmed my computer. one week later, on 9/25/2017, the vehicle had the engine seize again while driving at approximately mileage 58,511. jeep determined that the oil level was very low, even though a full-synthetic valvoline 5w20 had been completed at 53,335 miles and the fluid levels were checked at the dealership one week prior to the incident. the dealership performed an oil change, instructed me that after 50,000 miles it is acceptable for the 2014 jeep cherokee models to burn off 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles and to monitor the oil levels going forward. i mentioned to the dealership that the oil levels had just been inspected at the dealership one week earlier, on 9/18/2017, and was told that fluid levels were normal. as a result, the vehicle would have been burning oil much faster than the 1 quart per 1,000 miles acceptable threshold. i was asked to see if the new oil change would resolve the issue, and to bring my car in at around 60,000 miles to check the oil levels. at 62,052 the vehicle seized again and, upon diagnosis, oil levels were fine. jeep can determine the problem and cannot offer a solution. it has happened two more times over the last month.
After filling up the gas tank, i was stopped at a red light. my car started bucking, shaking and the service transmission and engine lights came on. the car told me to put it in park and turn it off. it would buck every time i tried to go from a stopped to starting position. i was stopped at a red light on a busy city street, at a busy intersection at night and terrified that i was going to get rear ended.
After having the oil changed on my 2014 jeep cherokee a leak developed. when i took it to the a mechanic the oil filter housing was found to be broken. i spoke with the shop who changed the oil, they state they use a special tool that does not allow the cap to be torqued down to tightly as the oil filter housing breakage is a known issue with jeep, dodge, and chrysler products.

Transmission has been knocking very hard when i put it into drive. one day when i started my car in my driveway, the check engine light came on and a message stating "service transmission, place car into park then into desired gear." once i put the car into drive, it felt and sounded like my engine was going to jump out of the car. i tried to turn my car off and restart it, however, i had no success with that. i have had no issues at all with my driving up until this point. i bought my jeep in december 2013 and this issue occurred november 2017. i service my jeep on a regular basis and do not drive recklessly. this issue happened all of a sudden. a day before this happened, i did notice when turned my car on and put it in drive, the transmission did "knock" into gear a lot more aggressively than normal.
