Passenger airbag occupancy sensor fails randomly with passenger weighing 130+ pounds properly position in the seat and the car in motion on highways, and city streets. the problem is indicated by the "airbag off" light remaining lit while a passenger weighing 130+ pounds is properly positioned in the passenger seat. turns, speed, and road condition don't seem to alter the outcome.
Air bag sensor fault in passenger seat. air bag sensor does not work correctly, causing airbag to be inactive for all occupants of passenger seat. infiniti does not offer a sensible fix. the only way to repair is to replace the entire seat ($8000). this is a safety issue that should be under warranty no matter the age of the car. i have found repeated evidence of this occuring often through looking at forums and websites that own this model and year.
Passenger air bag sensor randomly will illuminate (reflecting system off) when adult is present in seat. unable to locate recall but have heard this being an issue on forums with same model.
The passenger air bag light illuminates (meaning the air bag will not deploy) when a full size adult is sitting in the passenger seat. the dealership states that the air bag light should illuminate on partial weight applied to the seat bottom. dealership states that they tested by watching the airbag status in data monitor and found airbag activates when sitting in the seat properly and turns off when getting out of the seat. however light does not illuminate in this case. according to the dealership the system is working properly. this occurs when the vehicle is underway at any speed with adult passenger and seat belts fastened. when a full size adult (175 to 200 lbs. is sitting in the passenger seat the air bag illuminates which contradicts the dealerships findings. dealership is lokey infiniti of clearwater, fl who examined the system on 8-18-2018.
Front passenger airbag off/on light. showing off, while passenger is sitting in front passenger seat, and, car is traveling at legal speed limits, on both, city streets and interstate. this light, is identified and located below and to the lower right of the steering wheel. this condition has been in force, for a minimum of a couple of weeks. brought car to ray brandt infiniti dealership, metairie, louisiana. and, the service department was nice and respectful, but, claimed to be clueless. this is clearly, a major safety issue.
Tamara recall . recieved a notice on the air bag for a recall
Airbag off notification turns on when passenger is sitting in passenger seat. when a passenger is sitting in the passenger seat the airbag remains off. searching the internet, it appears that many owners of infiniti g37s experience this problem, yet when i contacted the dealer they advised there was no recall.
The vehicle was involved in an accident where another car hit the front of the vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 infiniti g37. while driving various speeds, the air bag off warning indicator illuminated while the front passenger seat was occupied. the dealer could not duplicate the issue. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
I was in a parking lot. i backed out when i started to shift into drive the car accelerated and started to spin in circles. the steering wheel locked. i was not in control of the car and nothing would worked in the car. i couldn't shift gears so i shoved it into park. the car finally stopped but not before it hit an island causing $7822 in damages to the rear of the car. the air bags did not deploy. i was quite shaken up but had no serious injury. a police report was filed. the manufacturer was contacted at the local and regional levels. they had someone look at the vehicle but after 7 weeks they still have not contacted me with their findings. i am not driving the vehicle and i have not had it repaired. i fear that if i have it repaired and i sell the vehicle, it is an unsafe car and someone else will get hurt. i have found several reports of similar occurrences on the internet.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 infiniti g37x. the contact stated while driving 2 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. as a result, the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence. the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to an independent body shop but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate mileage was 1,800.
While driving with a full size adult in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag light was illuminated, which indicates that the passenger air bag is off. this has continued to occur at various speeds including while idling. the car has been returned to the infiniti dealer four times. the infiniti service writer, manager and technician saw the passenger air bag light on. an infiniti engineer checked the car on 9/10/2014. his report stated that the car is operating according to specification. they see no need to pursue this problem any further while this problem continues, jeopardizing the passenger's safety. *tr
Passenger air bag light would light up (meaning air bag will not deploy) when my wife (117 lbs) was seated on the front passenger seat. this was also happening on my 2010 nissan frontier pro 4x truck with leather seats. nissan dealer could not fix it. they were blaming my wife. this is a safety issue! please help. thank you! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 infiniti g37. the contact stated that the passenger side air bag light was continuously illuminated when a passenger of one hundred pounds or lighter sat in the passenger seat. the dealer stated that the vehicle was working up to specifications. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 700.
In my 2013 infiniti g37 front 'passenger airbag off' light comes on and stays on (means passenger side air bag is disabled) even when a grownup person weighing over 100 pounds sitting on passenger seat, putting front passenger at risk in case of a crash. it seems "occupant classification system" (ocs) is not working as it should making car computer think that a child is sitting on front passenger seat. i have had my car checked by dealer twice but they did not find anything wrong and stated that "it's working as designed" but the issue still persist. on nhtsa web site i found out many other owners of infiniti 2013 g37 are experiencing the same issue with passenger side air bag. i also checked for any recall my car but did not find any, however there was a recall on "occupant classification system" for 2013 jx35. i suspect 2013 g37 "occupant classification system" has similar issue as 2013 jx35. on behalf of all 2013 g37 owner, we would be really appreciate it if nhtsa can investigate this critical safety further.
Passenger air bags on my g37 its being turned off with a passenger seating in the seat. first started with my daughter age 17 weights about 120 pounds and infiniti stated that their airbags are activated by weight and that she may be too small which she is 5'4 tall. they didn't address the issue and it continued to happen with everyone seating in the passenger seat including an adult male of 6'2 and over 200 lbs. i took it back to infiniti of tampa and they didn't address the issue. for the third time i take vehicle to infiniti and now they state their airbags have a sensor that measures body mass of a person to activate and that's the reason i am getting this issues with air bags and they suggested that i should seat my family and friends that ride in the front to go to the back seat for safety. infiniti then took a look at my vehicle and gave me a same model loaner for the day which the same thing happen in that car. this is something that has to be address as it is a hazard for the safety of our love ones in case of a collision. *js
