Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda odyssey. while driving 60 mph, the contact noticed that the front end of the vehicle began to vibrate slightly. the vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where the two front tires were balanced, but the failure continued. in addition, the contact stated that moments after opening the rear hatch, he was struck in the back when the hatch fell downward. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the rear gas struts were replaced. the current and failure mileages were 38,000.

My 2009 honda odyssey manually operated rear liftgate will not hold open. given the weight of the liftgate, it could cause serious injury if the strut failed when the liftgate is open with people under it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda odyssey. the contact stated that the rear power liftgate was opened without manual assist. it reached the top and stayed up for a few seconds, then closed unexpectedly. the problem then kept occurring. the dealer finally agreed to replace the liftgate support struts under warranty.
The power back hatch on my 2009 honda odyssey exl slams shut and will not hold. the power back hatch opens all the way up, tries to stay up but slams back down. it failed intermittently at first but is failing all the time now. the hatch slams with incredible force and if any of my 3 kids are in the vicinity it could cause serious injury. a vehicle less than 2 years old should not have this type of issue. i have a full front to back warranty and apparently it does not cover the back hatch. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda odyssey. the contact stated the vehicle was parked when she lifted the rear lift gate and it fell, striking her on the top of her head, neck and shoulders. she attempted to hold the lift gate in place but it continued to fail. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. in addition, all four power windows would independently open. the dealer was also unable to duplicate the failure of the windows. the manufacturer was contacted and advised that an investigator would further examine the vehicle for the cause of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage was 23,320.
2009 honda odyssey. rear hatch door in back will slam shut without any warning or being closed. no wind or external force caused it to slam shut very fast. thank goodness there was no one under the hatch door when it happened. also, rear hatch door sometimes will not stay up without being propped up to avoid from closing. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda odyssey. the contact was driving approximately 65 mph when the front passenger's side door opened independently. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and the door was closed however, the latch failed to remain closed in a secure position. the failure became more frequent in colder weather temperatures. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer numerous times. a lubricant was applied to the door latch however, the failure continued to occur. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000. the vin was unavailable.
Power lift gate failure - without warning the power lift gate failed to operate and the struts do not keep it open. the lift gate falls with such force that it caused a serious injury (needed 8 stitches). dealer is investigating the cause and a solution. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda odyssey. the contact stated that the passenger's side automatic sliding door would lock independently and fail to open. the automatic trunk also could only be opened manually and the fuel cover would not open when activated, forcing the contact to pry it open with a sharp object. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 55,000.
