Brake fluid is dropping in the reservoir and no signs of leaking brake fluid
Brake feels spongy when you go on the brake .front wheels sometimes locks up. brake fluid level drops in brake fluid reservoir no signs of leaks
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that the brake fluid needed to be topped off every three weeks. there were no leaks and a warning indicator was not illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. a dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 111,000.
I done all new break pads router job after about one month my break paddle became soft wean i aplay break car can't stop need long distance to stop. my wife drives the car and she is so scared to drive this problem i noticed every time i done break job after some time i didn't know watt to do! it's vehicle manufacturing problem?
Vsa light is on and having problems breaking. as well as not wanting shift past gear 3 or go more than 20mph.
Any time i am driving at a relatively high speed (45+) going downhill and need to brake, the vehicle vibrates significantly. i looked this up and it appears to be a very common issue with honda odysseys -- warped rotors, and not due to overuse or high miles. my honda actually has pretty low miles. it is very concerning when i'm driving with my family in the mountains and feel like i almost don't have control of the car since it shakes so much. there should be a recall since this is easily a $500-1000 fix. as for the date below, it's been happening for years, so i just put in the most recent date. we camped last weekend and it happened yet again. finally prompted me to file a complaint...
A vsa with a triangle warning sign is on in my dashboard, i scare the abs brakes will not work properly and it doesn't work the vsa switch on the left side of the dash neither to switch on or off, i check tires and looks ok the pressure of each, is any recall about this problem with this honda odissey '07?
My back passengerdoor been acting up since i bought my 2007 honda odyssey i will hit the button to open the passengerback door it will start opening and all a sudden it will just start shuttingon peoplei have to hit the button to stop it from shutting on people and when my fuelget down to a quarter of a tank my fuel pump start making a weird sound until i fill my tank up with fuel then when it get low again it start making the sound again and i have had my 2007 honda odyssey for a little over a year now and i have already change my brakes 3 times already and change my rotors once
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. while driving 20 mph, the brake pedal malfunctioned and traveled to the floorboard. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (tom scott honda, 603 11th ave n, nampa, id 83687, (208) 466-3248) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and booster needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact took the vehicle to several independent mechanics who diagnosed that the master cylinder had not malfunctioned and no leaks were found. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 229,000.
Brake pedal travels nearly to floor before braking becommes effective..often requires pumping pedal to get effective braking. several trips to repair shops required expensive bleeding air from brake lines and fluid replacement. problem reappears after a few weeks.
Vsa light came on then the car will not go over 2000 rpms and the steering gets hard. the brakes go to floor making hard brake feel. this happened on the interstate.
Van takes too long to stop. pedal feels high, but stopping takes too long. new brakes have been installed and problem still persists. i consider this to be an extremely dangerous condition. it seems more pronounced at highway speeds.
Have had extensive issues from honda of america and local dealerships regarding the status of the odyssey's safety. this van has had issues since new that honda has consistently attempted to avoid dealing with. vehicle at low speeds has suddenly heavy and troublesome steering affected steering response and vehicle direction when turning. brake pedal feel when slowing in any forward/reverse direction is unresponsive increasing stopping distance and affecting emergency maneuvers. dealership/ honda has not and will not accept liability!
When traveling at low speed (5-10 mph) and depressing the brake pedal, the car suddenly accelerated. this happened on two separate occasions. feb 1, 2018 and feb 14, 2018. the problem caused minor accidents in both cases. on feb 1, the car was in a parking lot, pulling into a parking space, depressed the brake pedal, and the car accelerated and ran over a handicapped parking sign. on feb 14, in rush hour traffic on the highway, traveling approximately 10 mph, depressed the brake, and the car accelerated into a tractor-trailer causing extensive damage to the odyssey, but not to the tractor trailer. the honda dealership maintains that there is nothing wrong with the car, no problem with the brakes or accelerator. as the owner, i am convinced there is a problem and the car is not safe to drive, and in fact we have gotten rid of the car and bought a new one because of this problem. i also did some research online and discovered that 22 other people had had a similar problem with the 2007 odyssey. i'm concerned that there is need for a recall, but honda is not acknowledging the problem.
Takata recall my van has long braking response since i bought it, i've changed all rotors and pads, bled the system, and the brake is still soft, i check online, and there are a lot of people having the same problem
I was driving and all of a sudden the brakes just lost power and i had to press the brake very firmly to feel any actual braking happen. the rotors and pads were replaced about 200 miles ago and the entire brake system flushed due to previous issue of a very spongy or soft brake pedal. the vehicle's brake failure started at the end of a 50 mile commute at as i got off the freeway and approached a red light it took twice-three times the normal distance to stop going about 40 mph.
Very strong gas smell
2007 honda odyssey abs braking system is soft with low pedal. difficult to stop the vehicle at times, frequent problems for last several years. even after recalls for faulty seals in the brake master cylinder years ago and then the recall for the vsa modulator . bumped garage door while pulling in! dealer said: faulty abs modulator.
Van has low, soft brake pedal, and must be bled every few weeks. i feel vehicle is unsafe to drive. honda does not seem interested or care.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. after the vehicle was operated, the vehicle stability assist (vsa) indicator illuminated continuously. when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to stop completely. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but a diagnosis was unable to be provided. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact was unaware if the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 10v098000 (service brakes, air). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 48,849. updated 11/17/16*lj the consumer requested an update on this complaint. updated 05/09/2017 *js *tr
Brake peddle has excessive travel almost touches the flood when applying brakes
Low soft brake peddle
When i am driving my van at about 65 and above and when i hit the brake the steering wheel starts to vibrate very badly. this does not happen i am driving at less than 60 mph. every time this happens, i feel like i might crash into other vehicles or run off the road due to the vehicle becoming very unstable. i have taken the vehicle to the dealership several times but they test drive it and say that there is no issues.
Soft low brake peddle unsafe to drive
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced for an unknown recall, the check engine and abs warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v504000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the failure mileage was 114,256.
When going fast speeds 50mph + and then braking the vehicle shakes as if your going to flip and lose control. i can stop at a slow pace and it still shakes controllably. the rotors are warped so bad and shouldnt be doing this. this is very unsafe.. *tr
This has to do with the recent recall regarding the master brake cylinder. the car was recently taken into the local honda dealer. ever since this recall was completed, i've felt (and sometime heard) a slight "buzz" when first touching the brake pedal. the "buzz" is a vibration, which is felt in the first few seconds after application and immediately disappears if braking is held, or released. it may again appear if the pedal is depressed, but not always. braking feels normal with no other events. it has not gotten worse or disappeared. please call for further questions or comments. thank you. *tr
The brakes suddenly hardened and would not engage while going downhill. this problem was first noticed in . i took the vehicle to woodland hills keyes honda and learned that the brake power booster was defective. this same vehicle was the subject of a recall of the master cylinder. based on honda's recommendations, the power brake booster is to be replaced if there is any leak. it is my position, that the master cylinder upon determining that it was leaking as implicit in the recall required that the power brake booster be replaced. had this been replaced there would not have been a failure to the power brake booster. *js
A day after and going forward from purchasing my 2007 honda odyssey ex-l soft brake, pedal going all the way to ground before stopping when driving 5 to 55 mph. martin main line honda service representative said this is normal. i disagree. i am concern with my safety and others who will be in the van with me. *tr
Was driving on highway about 20 miles from home. i got up to about 45 miles, the vehicle brakes on its own slowing down the vehicle. it lasted about two seconds and it happened 4 times on the way home in a 5 minute time period.. then the rest of the way home everything was ok and the vehicle did not brake on its own. *tr
Owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the entire instrument panel warning indicators remained illuminated. the transmission began to slip gears with slight hesitation & stopped in the middle lane with no power (no lights, no beeps nothing new better was installed on 11/13). after 30 min. jump started & on the way home the failure recurred. the vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of this problem on 4/1/14 at 12am est. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000. also the warning for this problem is the security system going of randomly for no reason (like doors locking or closing horn going off). *tr
I was driving slowly (<10 mph) and entered into a rotary within a mall complex. i noticed the car in front of me stopped to yield another car entering the rotary. i put my foot on the brake and my vehicle slowed down. as i put more pressure on the brake to stop the car as it's getting closer the car in front of me, my vehicle started accelerate suddenly. i quickly moved my foot further left to make sure it was completely on the brake pedal and stepped harder, the engine ran even faster and it hit the car in the front and stopped. i looked at the area of the brake and gas pedals and everything was clear and separate. fortunately the speed of the car was slow, no one got injured. the front bumper of my car and the rear bumper of the other car dented. *tr
Soft brake pedal had to pump to get good brakes an avoid a collision. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that the brakes failed. the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v504000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the contact had the brakes repaired by an authorized dealer however, the failure recurred. the contact was also included in a second recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v098000 (service brakes, air) and was awaiting parts from the authorized dealer. the vehicle was not further repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 69,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph the brakes became inoperable. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road in order for the contact to inspect the failure. the vehicle was able to be driven home without the failure recurring. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the mechanic could not diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was unknown. rk
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the brakes applied independently. the contact stated that once he depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle began to drive properly but made a grinding notice. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and they stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v500000 (electrical system ) but he would have to wait until spring 2014 for parts to become available. the failure mileage was 36,000.
Brakes feel spongy and require excessive pressure to stop. had brakes bled and fluid flushed. initially the brakes felt better but within a few days, they began to feel spongy again. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number 10v504000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the required part was unavailable to perform the recall repair. the manufacturer informed the contact that the remedy part would not become available until may 2014. the contact had not experienced a failure.
On october 16, 2013, my honda accelerated at a fast speed up my driveway and caused $6,178.37 in repair costs and slammed into my front porch. the brakes did not work to stop the car. we immediately informed honda and our insurance carrier of the accident, and the car was towed to honda in old bridge, nj, as it could not be driven due to damage. on 11/15/2013, see claims summary, honda could not determine if this an acceleration issue. they never informed us of what the issue was. honda did not provide me with a rental car, so i had to rent a car from 10/21/13 to 11/26/13, which i paid $603.96 out of pocket (receipts enclosed). the amount of time honda was way too long fix my car and i had pay additional rental costs due to their unreasonable delay. shortly, after honda repaired my car, i received a recall notice that the brakes were recalled. really? this is why my car would not stop. there have been several recalls on my honda. a year after purchase, the engine broke down. i wrote to nj attorney general, who wrote back and asked that i write to you. i am also attaching pictures of the accident. there are tire marks in the driveway due to the high speed of the acceleration. photos fluids running down my driveway, and the damaged front end. i have also enclosed nj manufacturer's, copy of the claim summary dated 11/15/13. this matter is very upsetting to me and the way it was handled by honda. my husband, also purchased a new pilot, and my honda were both purchased new at the same honda. i know there are acceleration issues with this honda and this was an acceleration issue and a mechanical issue on the fault of the brakes i am requesting to be reimbursed for the car rental, insurance deductible and a refund of the cost i paid for the honda in the amount of $28,931.46. my car has never driven the same since the accident.
While accelerating onto freeway at approximately 45 mph the brakes fully engaged and engine power was lost while my foot was on the accelerator. speed decreased by about 25mph in just a few seconds. with my foot still on the accelerator engine engaged again and we increased speed to about 45 mph, when the automatic transmission was going to shift into overdrive, the same incident occurred again! power was regained at the same speed about 25 mph. we speeded up to about 45 mph again and this time i looked at the brake pedal. the brakes fully engaged themselves again the brake pedal actually depressed while i had my foot on accelerator only! i then took the overdrive off and put the transmission in d3 mode. the incident didn't occur again while in d3 mode. i was left having to drive on freeway around 55mph scared for my and my families lives! this vehicle self engaged brakes fully three times, while my foot was on accelerated only! *tr
Approx 10/2/13 was driving on a road i travel frequently and was accelerating when suddenly my car lost power and slowed rapidly. i thought it was a fluke then on 10/11/13 i was driving a road i travel on daily when suddenly my car slowed by about 30 mph in just a few seconds. i put my foot on the brake and realized it was already engaged and was why i was slowing down. 10/16/13 - car went to dealer to be repaired. dealer found source codes dtc 26-1 lateral acc sensor, and dtc 27-1 steering angle sensor but could not replicate and told me they did not know what the fix was. 10/17/13 - was driving on the same road as on 10/11 - clanging/grating sound in steering column and then brakes engaged, was accelerating slowly prior to this. slowed down almost to a stop, then slowly accelerated again. within a quarter of a mile it happened again (was driving slower at this time b/c i was worried it would happen again), this time the triangle w/ the exclamation point on it flickered (this is the first time it came on, all other times no lights or anything). taking it back to dealer tomorrow but unless it happens to them was told there was nothing they could do. repeatedly told them of the investigation but they said they don't know the fix. thankfully no one was behind me during these occurrences but if they had there would have been an accident due to how fast the car decelerated. *tr
I was driving out in the country, i was going around 40mphs when the car felt like an emergency brake was pulled up. the car braked very quickly from 40 to about 5 -10mphs. i stopped ,tested the brakes and began to go again very slowly. after driving a few mins slowly i began to go faster when i hit about 35 mph it rapidly brake again. at this point i was very scared, my kids thought i hit a animal. so i decided to stop, by the time i was able to find a road to pull over onto it repeated it 3 more times only going about 10-15 mph. i had the van towed to my mechanic. he could not find a problem so we had it towed to priority honda in chesapeake, va to have testing done. if this would have happened 24 hrs earlier i was traveling from richmond, va and i would have cause a crash. i will not drive this vehicle until this is resolved. it was very scary and felt that it had put my children along with myself in grave danger. *tr
Driving 45 miles per hour and the brakes suddenly went on very hard but not in a skid. every one was thrown forward into their seatbelts. the car behind nearly crashed into us. i put 4-way flashers on and went slower - 35-40mph and it happened again. it happened a third time going slower yet. i turned the car off at a store and when we started off again it did not happen again the rest of the way home. how can this dangerous honda malfunction be fixed? thanks *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the brake system engaged independently as the vehicle decelerated to approximately 30 mph. the contact was able to increase acceleration and regain normal function. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 65,000.
While turning into a parking space and applying my brakes, the engine revved, brakes stopped responding and the vehicle propelled forward, resulting in the vehicle jumping a median and ramming into a tree at which point the airbags deployed and engine cut-off. this left me with burns on the skin of my arms and neck area. i have owned and driven this van for six years and am certain that i was applying the brake. the vehicle had to be towed as the driver side seatbelt was left inoperable. we were told by our dealership that the side air bag had deployed within the column, but did not enter the cabin as it was not visible and was caught within the seat belt pillar. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. while driving, the vsa warning indicator illuminated. in addition, the brake pedal felt "spongy" when depressed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (victory honda of sandusky, 2301 hayes ave, sandusky, oh 44870) where it was diagnosed that the vsa module failed and needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired due to the part cost. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v500000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was unknown.
I was driving behind someone that stopped short and i went to hit my brakes and felt like nothing was there!!! it turned into a three car accident with my three children, ages 10, 2 and 1. it stopped very lightly. i also find that i can't stop where i intend to and that the car continually only lets me do "rolling" stops. *tr
While maintaining a speed of approx. 40 mph with my foot on the accelerator, it suddenly felt as if someone slammed on the brakes. this only happened once on this date. the vehicle was taken to the dealership. there were no codes and they could not duplicate the situation. they checked the braking system thoroughly but could not determine the cause of my issue. one month later (8/17/13), the same "severe unintended braking" happened again, but this time it happened three times within 1/2-3/4 of a mile. fortunately, no one was right behind me or they would have hit me. i am afraid to drive this vehicle as i don't know when it will slam on the brakes without my involvement. *tr
I entered a highway and was accelerating to a speed of approx. 35 mph when the vehicle suddenly decelerated, as if the brakes had been slammed on, causing me to lurch forward, triggering the seat belts to tighten. i maintained steering control, removed my foot from the gas pedal, then suddenly the vehicle accelerated rapidly without my pressing on the gas pedal. this happened four times within approximately 60 seconds. i'm stating this mildly when i say the experience was terrifying. i pulled over, turned the car off, and called our mechanic who advised i slowly and safely drive the van to the shop, which wasn't too far away, or consider having it towed. i chose to drive slowly to the mechanics and the problem did not occur again. upon diagnostic testing, our mechanic said it was a steering sensor that lost its memory and needed reset, an easy fix and that while this problem is rare, it's not unheard of, yet it shouldn't happen again. (we had recently had new tires installed prior to this event, the mechanic suspected that while the tires were being changed, the sensor's memory must have been wiped.) the second event was this past wed., oct. 2, the same experience as before happened again. only on this occasion, our mechanic's diagnostic testing did not provide a code as it had before, but recognizing the complaint, they reset the sensor again. in both events, the roads were dry, clear weather, we were driving on new tires and at low speeds, having just moments before turned on the ignition and begun accelerating. we are now being told that our vehicle has two broken motor mounts. we highly suspect this is due to the sudden jerking back and forwards from this involuntary deceleration/acceleration issue; it's an expensive repair! honda needs to recall this model and get a fix asap. we are thankful this hasn't caused an accident--yet. *we bought this van used in 2010. *tr
Accelerating down hwy after making u-turn when vehicle suddenly slows down as if slamming on brakes-it did this a second time approximately one minute later. vsa light turned on approximately 10 minutes later than 2nd sudden slowdown. *tr
