My door lock actuator is broken on the driver door. this is a definite security problem. when i went to lock my car, the lock on the driver door kept unlocking. there were popping noises when i tried to unlock & lock my door. all other doors worked, but i had to leave my car unlocked over night because it would not stay locked. when i got to work the next day, it locked after a few tries but made a loud grinding noise. *tr
Suddenly all the doors would lock as soon as i would get in i would try to unlock with door switch and the lock back right away. they have locked me out of my own car. i have tried the resetting procedures from manual and they do not change. to get into my car you have to pull handle as soon as you hit unlock on key. *tr
The door locks keep locking and unlocking while i drive. i got locked into the car once, the car door would not open with key or manually. i had to crawl into back seat in order to open door and get out. the doors will not stay locked while i drive. this is very dangerous. when i'm stopped at a signal anyone could jump into the car. the door won't always lock when i get out of the car. someone got into the car and went through my glove box because the car wouldn't lock. i feel honda should have a recall and fix the door locks. i have seen quite a few complaints on the internet with others who have the same problem. *tr
The car kept saying a door was opened when it wasn't and then because of that the car wouldn't lock when i was in it and then the interior lights wouldn't go off. then, it just stopped happening. then on 1/14, every time i used the brake when i was driving, the doors would unlock and the interior lights would go on. and then when i would accelerate the doors would lock and the interior lights would go off. this all began the week after i took the car to the dealership to get new tires (where they ripped me off by charging me $1,300 to replace 4 tires!). very frustrating. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the door locks erroneously engaged and disengaged intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the door actuators needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 87,000.
The automatic door locks do not function properly. they lock and unlock several times while i am driving the vehicle. when i park, i am unable to lock my car securely. i also have difficulty unlocking the doors at times. this is very unsafe in my neighborhood. *tr
Locking actuator does not engaged. when trying to lock the door manually the actuator will automatic unlock the doors. this is a safety issue. after some research this is an ongoing issue with honda, and honda will not see this as a safety issue. *tr
Unable to lock rear doors when in park. rear doors lock and unlock spontaneously when in drive. when doors lock spontaneously, unable to open doors from inside even when in park. *tr
Driver side door does not lock at all. front passenger door locks immediately after pressing unlock. all doors lock and unlock while driving. it started about a year and a half ago and was worse in warm weather. now, it's just bad all the time. it's a safety issue if i can't lock the car even with the key in the driver's door. my wife and i are the original owners. *js
As soon as you would unlock the automatic doors locks - the front driver door, it would quickly lock back up, you had to force it to unlock once it locked on its own, you can use the clicker or the unlock button, but you had to be very quick to be able to unlock it - you had to have your one hand on the door handle and the other hand on the unlock button - or else you can't get out that door. once you get to speeds of 5 mph the doors will automatically lock, the back driver door started to slowly unlock while driving, while the car was stopped, it would lock once you got to the 5 mph but then start unlocking again. i replaced the actuators for the driver side doors and now the passenger back door lock started making noises and is starting to unlock on its own. called honda and they said it must happen often because they have the parts for it. i asked if there was a recall and they said no, so i had to purchase the parts. *tr
The first incident was on or about october 15, 2012. i always park my car in the garage. so, i rarely lock the car door. when i came back to the car to get groceries out, the car doors were locked. i came back to the car with the remote to unlock the doors. i got some of the groceries out and was carrying them up stairs, when i heard the door lock sound. when i came back to the car for the rest of the groceries, the doors were locked again. i had to retrieve the remote from the house, to unlock the car doors again. there has been intermitten occurences when i have found the doors locked when i return to the car. i have notice these occurences happen when i am at home because that is the only time i leave the car unlocked inside a locked garage. my most recent occurence happened last friday, april 19, 2013. i had pulled into the garage. this time i locked the car by mistake with the door lock located directly under the window (not on the rocker panel). i unlocked the car with the remote. within less than a minute the car locked by itself. this time i had not gone immediately upstairs. i was still standing there. *tr
The locks on the honda cr-v 2008 are defective and can pose a serious safety issue. the locks on the door lock at will, won't unlock when i try to unlock them, and lock while i'm driving and/or putting the reverse. passengers cannot get out of the car, even after i press the unlock button on both the door and the key. i fear that my toddler is going to get locked into the vehicle and/or trapped in if we are in an accident. this is a recurring problem that started just a few months after i bought the vehicle and many other honda cr-v owners are reporting the same issue, yet honda has not issued a recall for these defective locks. please address this issue as a safety issue and urge them to recall these locks. *tr
The door actuator went out first on my passenger front door and automatically locks now every time i stop the actuators cycles on all 4 doors and tries to relock. this is very annoying and also i like to add please don't waste your money on the black chrome rims mine are peeling solid chrome is not supposed to peel so that was $3000 wasted. *tr
Rear passanger door lock actuator failed at 45k front passanger door lock actuator failed at 68k. *tr
Vehicle door locks immediately relock themselves when trying to unlock car. sometimes it keeps me trapped in the car trying to open the door fast enough before it relocks itself. this is a safety concern in the event of an emergency and need to evacuate car. *tr
While driving the car on the interstate 635 in dallas tx area , the door suddenly unlocked automatically (driver side and driver side rear) and i felt the doors opened a bit as i can feel some vibration noise and the air noise thro the small gap , this is so risky , but the reason iam complaining this was looks like a very generic issue in the crv's and honda really refuses to address it , i would like them to have a look at it before its too late. *tr
In august of 2012, the right rear door lock would not stay locked. we had the faulty part replaced. now in june of 2013, we are having problems with the right front door lock. it began by not staying unlocked. when unlocked the door by ( any method), the lock would only stay unlocked for less than a second before relocking on its own. now the problem has changed to where the door will not stay locked as in the problem door lock from last year. the door continues to try to lock each time the vehicle reaches the speed that the doors lock automatically. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the while driving, the rear driver side door unlocked independently. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was not taken to be inspected or repaired. the dealer was notified and stated that there were no recalls for the vehicle. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 65,000. the vin was unavailable.
The first problem uncovered: the driver's door cannot be manually unlocked with a key. my daughter drove the car to a concert using the valet key and discovered at midnight that she couldn't enter the car. after family arrived with electronic key it was determined that it would not manually open the door either. following that incident we noticed the driver's door will randomly re-lock itself after the ignition is turned off and the door has initially unlocked. the locking system sometimes makes a "whirring" when engaged. the latest development: the passenger side rear door and the hatch refused to unlock using either the electronic key or the driver door controls. also, the rear passenger door couldn't be opened manually using the button on the door itself- it wouldn't budge! the next day, the problem fixed itself... at least for now. *tr
Doors will unlock by themselves while vehicle is in motion and while parked and secured. *tr
The front passenger door lock slowly locks by itself after the key fob is used to unlock the doors. the rear passenger door will slowly unlock by itself after the key fob is used to lock the doors (exact opposite of the front passenger door). the car locks will repeatedly lock and unlock themselves while driving. this is a severe safety issue as the car cannot be locked now. all auto-lock features were turned off and the condition still exists. *tr
Locks wont stay locked. once locked the rear doors slowly unlock.they have now started making an awful noise when locking or unlocking. since the doors automatically lock when my car accelerates, and then unlock themseves, i have to hear this noise constantly while driving in stop and go traffic. *tr
The passenger door-lock slowly unlocks itself after the locking system is activated. it constantly lock and unlock during acceleration. this is a major safety issue especially when young children are in the car. unable to lock the car after parking. *tr
The front passenger door unlocks immediately after locking it, with remote or by the door itself. this is a hazard because anyone can enter vehicle when stopped at traffic light or stop sign or when vehicle is parked. *tr
Doors lock and unlocked while driving. *tr
Every time the right front passenger door is unlocked either by the switch or manually, it immediately re-locks itself making it almost impossible to open the door. to open the door, you must know to be holding on the handle and pull it in the split second after you activate the un-lock button. this could be extremely dangerous in a situation where the passenger had to get out of the car immediately as in case of a fire, submerging in water or after a wreck. i am frightened to think what would happen in one of these cases and a child or unsuspecting adult were in the vehicle and could not get out. of course, there are many other scenarios where the passenger would have to get out in a hurry and this defective locking mechanism would prevent their escape. *tr
Door actuator unlocks and locks at will. right front door actuator replaced 10/6/11, right rear door actuator replaced 6/6/12, now left rear door actuator failing. this is a safety hazard as the door will unlock as you drive. *tr
Door lock actuator on rear passenger door began to give out and rattle when trying to lock or unlock. it also failed to unlock or lock and at times locked and unlocked on its own. lock was replaced. just recently, the driver door did the same and it was also replaced. now the driver rear and front passenger are doing the exact same thing. sometimes the door locks and unlocks automatically or when i unlock the door, it quickly relocks. same rattling noise as other two doors. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the vehicle door locks activated independently and could not be opened with the key or manually. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the door actuator. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.
I bought my car brand new in november 2007. it is a 2008 honda cr-v 5dr 2wd ex. a couple/few years back, the locks started acting up. it was always the same two, the front passenger door and the rear door. i would push the unlock button on my key, and the other 3 doors would unlock, but those 2 would not. i tried using the unlock/lock buttons on the driver's door, and after hitting the lock button first and then unlock several times, it would work and those 2 doors would eventually unlock. and then sometimes all of a sudden they would start unlocking again using the key. this has been an ongoing annoyance for the past 2-3 years. i can't remember the exact date or mileage when it first happened. probably about a year ago, they finally stopped completely. they will not unlock at all using the key or the driver's door. the passenger one, of course, i can manually unlock from the inside if needed. but the rear i have absolutely no way of opening that door. completely ridiculous!!! it has been a complete pain to not have that storage area. i have had to lower the back seats to put anything in there. it also caused me to incur damage to my car this year. i had a flat and needed the spare tire. well, i had to climb through the doors into the back where my spare was, only to realize you couldn't get to the spare because the rear door was in the way. so i had to rip the back flap to get to the tire. so that will cost me money to fix. this is in addition to the dealer telling me each actuator will cost over $300 to get replaced. after researching trying to find this actuator part, i came across the lawsuit and many many others with this problem. sounds like honda needs to recall this and pay for fixing their problem!!! *tr
The passenger door locks and unlocks randomly and it has been recurring more often recently. it now makes a terrible sound when it unlocks. i'm concerned about the safety of the passenger because there is no way for the passenger to unlock the door; the driver has to push the button to unlock and the passenger has only a split second to take advantage of the unlocked door before it relocks again. there would be no way for the passenger to get out of the car through the door in case of an emergency. *tr
I have a 2008 crv and my door lock actuators are failing to keep the doors of the vehicle locked. this is the second time or third time i have had them replaced and they have burned out again and are leaving the doors of my vehicle unlocked at speed. i press the lock button and they lock only to unlock seconds latter. they only seem to have a service life of 20k-35k miles! this mean every two years i have all the locks in my car fail to remain locked. i have a american car from 1996 and the original locks still work fine and stay locked! *tr
My 2008 honda crv in 2010 began having problems with the rear door lock and then the hatch lock. when i put the rear door lock into child safety mode and took it off child safety mode, the door lock would not unlock. it kept locking and i would have to manually press down on the lock button in order to open the door from the outside. i took it to a honda car dealership service dept. and was told it was the actuator and it happens often to honda vehicles and it would cost me $380 to repair it even thought the part i was told was actually only $80 dollars. to me and to everyone else this has happened to, this is obviously a manufacturer's defect if it happens often to honda vehicles. i refused the repair because it was very expensive. later in a few weeks, my hatch would not unlock unless the defective rear door lock was also unlocked. now, it is 2014 and as of friday, 2/28/14, all my locks are now locking immediately after i used my automatic door unlock on my key fob. i can't even get into my car unless i'm quick about it before it locks on me again. then when i want to get out of my car and the door unlocks, before i can even open the door to get out of my car, all the locks lock up again without my having done anything. this is a safety hazard for me and my family. the door locks are defective and honda should take responsibility to fix these defects. here is the link to arfc.org which has a list of complaints by other honda crv owners having the same defective issues: http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2008/honda/cr-v/latches_locks_linkages/problem.aspx. is it necessary for honda driver or their children or other family member go to their grave until this defect is addressed? i urge the nhtsa board to read all the complaints and take action to make honda set a recall for this defect so that honda crv and other honda vehicle owners are safer on the road. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda crv. the contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically lock the passengers out of or into the vehicle without being able to release the lock. the vehicle was inspected by the dealer but he could not determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 35,000.
Automatic door locks lock and unlock by themselves, sometimes fail to lock or unlock, and make a very loud noise when they are activated. this happens on multiple doors in my honda crv. this is a well-known defect and a safety hazard as well as a huge annoyance. the cost to repair this defect in the actuators is about $370 per door. honda refuses to acknowledge this defect. do not buy a honda cr-v. *tr
Passenger door lock automatically locks and can not manually be unlocked. took to dealer at the first opportunity, i was told care was "just out of warranty". car is now at 75,000 miles and all 5 door locks have failed. resulting in my keys being locked inside at a car wash by the employees. current class action suit is pending. honda will do nothing about it except charge me nearly $325 for each door lock repair. honda should do more to please their customers when it is such a common problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda crv. the contact stated that the front driver's side door lock malfunctioned, leaving the door unsecured. the contact indicated that when putting the transmission in park, a loud grinding noise was heard caused by the doors attempting to lock. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the door lock actuator had malfunctioned. the actuator was replaced to correct the defect. the contact indicated that the defect had also occurred on the front passenger and driver's side rear doors. the manufacturer was notified of the defect but no solution was offered. the failure mileage was 30,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda cr-v. the contact stated while driving and approaching a stop sign the rear drivers side door erroneously unlocked. the contact continued to drive and at approximately 7 mph the door would erroneously lock. once the speed was increased past 20 mph the door would again unlock. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the door actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the defect and no solution was offered. the contact indicated that previously the defected had occurred on the three additional doors and the actuators were replaced by the dealer. the failure mileage was 29,559. the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired in april by american honda at no cost to the owner. updated 06/03/2014 *js
The passenger door locks immediately after unlocking, before you can grab the handle, preventing you from opening the door. the front seat passenger is trapped inside the vehicle. this may seem like a minor problem but if the passenger needed to get out of the vehicle in case of accident, fire or water then they will have no chance and could suffer serious injury or death. from reading incident reports on this site, this seems to be very common problem and it should be fixed before someone dies. *tr
