Problems with 2007 Honda CR-V LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES

On average, the 2007 Honda CR-V starts to “feel” problems with the LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES and its various aspects after 81 310 miles.

Recently reported LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES problems on 2007 Honda CR-V

The door lock actuators fail without warning. when trying to exit the vehicle the actuator is stuck in the locked position and could prevent emergency exit of the vehicle. it is very difficult for an adult to manually overide the lock and impossible for a child. one actuator failure causes multiple doors not to function correctly. the honda dealer will not fix under warranty. *tr

2007 honda automatic door locks malfunction. in december 2010 the driver side and the back door began to malfunction. honda made me pay for it and they reimbursed 1/2 since i was past warranty. now its april 2011 and here i am again the passenger side is locking then pops open again. it will not stay locked. i am at honda and it is going to cost $238.00 to repair. this is a defect in the door looks. it is also a safety issue. i feel open to carjackers as i cannot lock my doors. i drive children around, and i have no capability of securing my car and the items in it. they are making me pay first and then they might refund to me part of the fees. i feel i should not pay for any of their defects. i can request the old part for this last correction. if you want me to send it to you. i was told that the dealer ship had been replacing the door locks. *tr

Electronic door locks won't unlock. has happened on multiple doors. this is a safety hazard and it is costing honda customers a fortune each time they have to get the door locks repaired. *tt

In january of 2011 the power door locks on my honda crv started clicking at 10 mph--by february of 2011, the doors started locking on me seconds after i remotely unlocked the door--sometimes not even letting me open the door and get into the car. i had an incident in mid february, when the door blew closed with the key in the ignition, my purse and cell phone in the car--and locked me out of the car--thankfully my sunroof was open and all 63 years of me had to climb into the car through the sunroof. next day we took it to the dealer, who replaced the actuator on the driver door. almost two years later in may of 2013 it started all over again--this time the rear door behind the driver. the first time it cost us $282--this last time it was $244. we have two more doors to go and another lady said she had all of them replaced and it cost her $900.--this is definitely a defect in these cars, and honda should have a recall and reimburse what we had to pay! *tr

I have a 2007 honda cr-v. i have replace two door locks on this vehicle. a third door is having the same problem of not locking. the dealership is telling me i need to pay for the door repair and then i might get a refund depending on the district mangers consent. i feel this is unfair since there is obviously a defect with the locking system. this a safety issue and a hazard if some has small children. *tr

it started by lock the passenger side automatic and you can not enter or open the door after a while it is making a horrible noise when i try to unlock or locked the doors. *tr

At approx; 75000 miles the right front door lock started making a very loud chattering noise when you used your key remote to unlock or to lock.when the vehicle reached 10 mph during excellerating and decellerating this would also happen. now the driver side rear passenger door lock is doing the same thing.i'm afraid to let a child ride in the back seat or the front passenger seat.i was checking online for anything about this problem and came across a interesting web site that your dept; needs to look at.there are many other cr-v owners with this same complaint. edmunds.com>suvs>.honda cr-v>honda power door locks. this forum has some pretty consistent complaints about the honda cr-v door locks and there relevent safety. *tr

2007 honda crv power locks are working intermittently having problems with driverside rear door and trunk latch. also everytime i slow and speed up again the locks are trying to relock, current mileage is 51500. called honda was told it would cost $115./hr to find out whats wrong. can not afford to spend 500-600 to fix. electrical power locks should not go bad shame on honda. *tr

The driver and passenger doors keep unlocking all the time, and can't lock my car doors and it is very unsafe. *tr

As i was driving in town my back left door lock suddenly unlocked itself, without my pushing any locking button. this continued sporadically. however, when i took it to the dealership nothing happened, so they could do nothing. later the other back door had the same problem. that may have been in november of 2012, i honestly don't remember. when my husband took the car to the dealership this time, they quoted a price for repair which my husband felt was too high, so he did not have anything done. within the past two months (maybe april of 2013), the drivers' side door also came down with the same unlocking problem. last tuesday afternoon, june 26, 2013, the simple clicking sound which accompanied the unlocking action was replaced with a loud grinding sound. generally this happens when the car is moving from a standing still situation to moving forward. i saw this morning that it happened at 10 mph, but sometimes it just happens several times consecutively. the car cannot be locked, so the door could be opened while in motion, or it could be entered by anyone at any time. i know mine is not the only car of this model to have this problem. *tr

The door lock actuators on our 2007 cr-v started to malfunction a few years ago. they automatically lock and unlock while driving and the rear drivers side door will not lock at all. this is a serious safety concern. we also have lost items to criminals that have on multiple occasions gotten into the car through the un-lockable door. we got some of these actuators fixed before our extended warranty expired - but since then, they have failed once again and now we beyond the 100,000 mile warranty period. we see online that this is common problem that honda has been ignoring and now have no recourse but to complain to you fine government people to make them take care of their responsibility to provide us a safe vehicle that we can lock. all we want is for honda to fix the problem on our car with door actuators that do not leave us vulnerable to criminals. please make it so that we can lock the doors on our car. *tr

My vehicle door locks are defective they open then close then open again. not even if i open them manually! *tr

The vehicle locks and unlocks itself while driving and while parked. it doesn't happen all the time, it's random when it happens. after a quick search online, i found many people having the same lock issues or at least something similar. *tr

July 5,2010,parked our 2007 honda crv(vin:[xxx] );the passenger door failed to unlock...would not unlock with the automatic button release...would not allow the passenger to physically release the lock nor allow the door handle to open the door...also would not allow the rear hatch to open...took to dealer and was identified as a latch failure in passenger door...dealer fixed for $200...my complaint is that the passenger was locked inside and could not exit but by crawling over console and out driver door...no car door should lock a passenger permanently inside...had this involved an accident, this could lead to tragic results...i believe this is a recall. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr the consumer stated the latch failed again. updated ivoq 02/24/11

2007 honda crv , all door locks failed 6 months after expiration of 3 year warranty. *tr

2007 honda cr-v automatic door locks failing. one after the other, three(3) now. defective automatic door locks installed on this vehicle and i feel are a safety issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact was attempting to enter the vehicle and the door would not open and the alarm sounded. after repeated attempts he was able to enter the vehicle. as soon as he closed the door, the power locks engaged and the alarm sounded with the contact locked in the vehicle. after approximately 25 minutes, the driver was able to unlock the doors and exit the vehicle. the alarm shut off. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the door latch was defective. the vehicle was not serviced and the failure has recurred each time the vehicle was operated. the failure mileage was 51,000 and the current mileage was 51,500.

Front doors started locking automatically. after approx. 9 months all doors started locking automatically. all doors would lock immediately after engine was turned off, locking all occupants inside. would lock when car was idling in park and was unable to open doors manually with key from outside. car was stolen then recovered. whatever was used to steal it must have reset computer. because for approx.1 week after recovery door locks worked fine. now it is back to the problem as before. my 1 yr. old grandson was locked in the car for a brief time due to this issue, luckily one of the rear windows was down and my daughter crawled thru. i have read there is a recall for this problem on 2006 honda crv, but not for the 2007. it is possible that left over defective parts from 2006 models were used in 2007. i am told i could have to pay up to $900.00 to repair this problem. i not only don't have the money, but i don't accept that it should be my problem. it's not like it's from wear and tear or misuse of the vehicle. this is my third honda i've owned, and my last unless someone would at least acknowledge there is a problem here. thank you *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the door lock system failed numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the door actuator, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for inspection and stated that the lock system fuse needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 40,000.

The drivers door and rear passenger side door automatically lock themselves immediately after opening (within 2 seconds). the actuators in both doors seem to be stuck in the locked position. this is extremely dangerous if you have small children as they can easily become locked in the car. the drivers door is the biggest issue because once it locks itself it triggers all other doors to lock themselves as well effectively locking you out of the vehicle. this happens every time the door unlocks. while running, keys in the ignition, no keys, doesn't matter. will cost roughly $250 per door to repair and because the issue has not been acknowledge you should not trust oem parts. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda crv. the contact stated that the driver side would not unlock from the inside or the outside of the vehicle. the contact had to enter/ exit the vehicle from the passenger side door. the vehicle was towed to a local body shop to have the locks repaired. the contact has not called the manufacture regarding this issue. the contact feels this is a safety issue because the contact was locked out of the vehicle in freezing cold weather. failure mileage was 44,000. jo

Vehicle began resetting door locks whenever vehicle accelerated through 7 or 8 mph from stop. after awhile, driver side front and back doors would not lock automatically and intermittently the driver door could not be manually locked (heavy resistance when trying to flip latch). on a less frequent basis, the passenger side rear door would not auto or manually lock. for last several months the door lock solenoids fire like a machine gun whenever the doors are manually or automatically locked. some times they all lock, other times one or more of the doors won't. tolerated for many months as dealer wouldn't fix under warranty even though only 1000 miles and a few days past 12mo/36k coverage and didn't want to pay dealer estimated fix at up to 800 dollars. now starting to pick up grandchildren for after school care and need to fix. seems this problem has enough complaints to warrant recall? *tr

When driving the vehicle, the automatic power door locks are supposed to engage when the car reaches approximately 10 mph, while driving my vehicle, this does happen but after the door locks engage, both rear doors on my vehicle unlock for no apparent reason. this appears to me to be a safety issue as i have 3 small grandchildren and i am afraid to allow them to ride in the back seat of my vehicle for fear that they may open the doors while the vehicle is moving and even though this vehicle is equipped with "childproof door locks", i will not totally rely on this as the only method to securing the doors. i have spoken to honda on a couple of occasions in this matter, but they seem to attribute it to a wear and tear or electrical issue and even though they agreed with me that this was a potential safety issue, they did not seem to take my concerns seriously.i have also discovered that the 2006 honda cr-v was recalled for the exact same problem and as early as a few months ago the 2012 honda cr-v along with some acura models are being recalled for these defective power door lock mechanisms.i replaced the front door mechanism in 2009 only to have both rear door mechanisms fail at the same time a short time later. i find it hard to attribute the failure of two individual parts to fail at the same time to a case of wear and tear or an electrical issue. i feel that these parts are failing due to an inferior design and i would like for this matter to be investigated. thank you. *tr

The car doors automatically lock without any action on the part of the driver. this is a serious safety issue that should be resolved by honda at no cost to the vehicle owners. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the passenger and driver's side doors failed to lock or unlock without manual force. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the actuator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

The door on the right of driver side was locked half year's ago. unable to open it. on sept. 19, 2013, the door on the right of the passenger side was locked. and now the doors on the left of passenger side as well as the trunk were locked. it pose serious safety danger. *tr
