I purchased a 2016 honda civic for my son in 2016. i received a notice about ac problems this year. i contacted my son and asked him if he had problems with the a/c. he reported that it doesn't blow very much air and the air never gets cold. so i had him take to dealership. he was told that the recall for a/c affected only one part of the unit which they could fix under no cost...but they said that there was a huge hole in the air compressor and this was not covered. they quoted over $2,000 to replace air compressor. i found this hard to believe and researched to find out what causes a hole in the compressor that makes it beyond repair and the only information i could find were others having the same problem with 2016 honda civic faulty air compressors. again when i tested it myself, it was not blowing cold air and sometimes not blowing air at all. since i purchased vehicle, it seems like system was not fully capable of defrosting windows in front and back and figured the design was bad.
We bought a 2006 honda civic in 2013, only to have the dealership not disclose the warranty extension put out on the car in 2010. we would have never bought that car, and bought another. terribly dangerous the have an engine block crack. the block did crack in december 2019. american honda will do nothing. passed the warranty extension.. this should have been a safety recall. the car with only 129,000 is garbage and we are out money. we will never buy honda again. we've bought at least 10 in our 27 year marriage. the cracking could have exploded the engine!
The vehicle has developed a coolant leak due to a cracked engine block. this vehicle can no longer be driven and while it is in otherwise excellent condition, repairs are economically unfeasible. this is a 2007 honda civic ex with the r18 engine. it has a clean title and i am the first and only owner. there have been a significant number of similar failures in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 model year honda civics with this engine due to bad metallurgy and weak casting during the manufacturing process. honda knows that these are defective engines as they created technical service bulletin 10-048 in response to these failures. they did not however issue a recall. i believe this is a safety issue, because this failure could occur in highway driving causing the engine to overheat and seize and the driver could therefore potentially be unable to leave the active traffic lanes. regardless, even if the driver could make it to the shoulder, that is not a safe environment. i noticed this problem when the vehicle was in motion just after exiting the highway. ...
Overheating lead to cracked block and eventually complete engine failure. starting 2006-? there has been a recall on these engines. after looking at many honda civics for sale this seems to be common problem spanning more years. i believe the recall should be expanded.
Well honda had a engine block recall that i wasent aware 10-048 of and now my engine block cracked while my wife was driving it coolant leaked all over the place and now honda says they wont fix the problem because i was over the warranty that i was not aware of when i bought the car .
