Well honda had a engine block recall that i wasent aware 10-048 of and now my engine block cracked while my wife was driving it coolant leaked all over the place and now honda says they wont fix the problem because i was over the warranty that i was not aware of when i bought the car .

At 85,000 miles, my engine blocked cracked in one of the 4 spots identified by honda engineers in their own service bulletin (10-048). my car has been garage-kept and religiously maintained in terms of service. this is a manufacturer's defect. my primary issue (as the original owner) is that i was never notified of this problem.

After 120,000 miles i began to smell antifreeze. i took it in to a mechanic who said the engine block was cracked and would need to be replaced. this vehicle has been well maintain and should have last longer. i search the internet and found that tis was a common problem with honda civic from 2006 and 2009 and there was a tsb 10-048 from honda. since i purchased the vehicle second-hand i did not receive the information from honda about the engine defect. they offered a 10-year warrenty but i have exceed this by 15 months.

On 3/6/19 i was driving home on i-95 north when, without warning, my civic redlined and overheated. i had the car towed to rockingham honda in rockingham, nh and the mechanic, dan, diagnosed my car with a cracked engine block. after some research it was discovered that '06-'09 hondas had faulty engines knowingly installed which resulted in honda of america issuing a warranty extension for 10 years for this cracked engine block error. i purchased this vehicle on 8/14/15 completely unaware of the faulty engine, the extended warranty, or the cost it would be to me. i contacted honda of america on 3/7/19 to inquire about the warranty and the complimentary replacement/repairs for their poor craftsmanship. i was informed that the warranty expired and does not apply to me since i am not the original owner of the car. turns out honda only sent out one notice of the warranty extension and it went to the first owners of the hondas who purchased the cars off a dealership lot. secondhand owners, like me, had no chance of even knowing there was a recall or opportunity to get this "time bomb" of a repair fixed until it's too late. after a ...
