We have classified the 67 complaints from 2007 Honda Civic about TIRES into the following categories.
On wednesday, june 11, 2008 i was driving from mar vista, ca to san leandro, ca with my 4 year old son and 20 year old sister in law. we were on the 580 w driving in the far left lane at 65mph at 11:30 am when we heard an explosion in the rear of the car. when we inspected the car, the right rear tire was blown through. the side walls were intact, but the whole top part of the tire was not connected to the side wall. my car is a 2007 honda civic coupe ex and it had about 8300 miles. i purchased the car in july 2007. the crash caused significant damage to the front left side of my car. the car is now at a body shop and is being repaired in san leandro, ca. we have the defective tire. after doing more research i found that honda had issued a service bulletin about uneven or rapid tire wear. tsb 08-001 on february 8, 2008. i did not receive notification of this serious defect because honda is not required to notify consumers regarding tsbs. this defect is serious and affects nearly all 2006-2007 honda civics. this tsb needs to become a recall. all owners of 2006-2007 honda civics need to be made aware of this life threatening defect. i understand that tires should be checked regularly, and many consumers do, however, my tires did not give me any warning of uneven wearing. actually, it would be hard to notice since my 2007 civic coupe ex is not quite on the road and you can feel any little bump in the road. i was told that this was normal because of the stiff suspension. overall, i seriously hope that this is addressed quickly. many unsuspecting drivers, many of whom have driven honda's in the past are not expecting this type of problem which can cause tire blowouts and possible fatal accidents. it would be unfortunate that a class action suit or the death of innocent consumers prompt honda to make this tsb 08-001 notice a recall notice. *tr
Consumer had issues with the service on 2007 honda civic at the dealership. *nj the consumer heard a rotating chiming noise coming from the vehicle. the dealer informed the consumer the noise was coming from the rear tires that had flat spots due to improper tire pressure or panic stops. the consumer went to another dealer and was told a tsb had been issued for the rear control arms. the consumer was informed the noise would continue until the tires were replaced. *jb
Noticed excessive vibration while driving the car in the expressway and thought that must be time to rotate tires so i pulled in my garage and noticed both rear tires have bumps and excessive wear while front ones look like new. current mileage is 31,591 and noticed this been happening and slowly getting worse. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the vehicle has bridgestone turanza el400 tires, size p205/55r16. while washing the vehicle, the contact discovered a bubble coming from the sidewall of a tire. the vehicle has not been diagnosed. the current and failure mileages were 12,800.
I have a 2007 honda civic hybrid with tire problems. i have taken my car to the dealer twice with complaints about uneven tire wear and poor handling and have been assured that i am imagining everything. the tires that have been on the rear the longest have signs of separation and very different wear than those that have been on the front the longest. there is a definite problem with handling when the worn tires are on the front but my honda service manager says nothing is wrong with the tires. i even wrote honda hq and received a response that they know of no problem with the cheap bridgestone tires being put on these cars. i have read online in forum and blogs there are 100's of civic hybrid owners like me that are facing the same issue. *tr
Excessive rear tire wear under normal driving circumstances. the local dealer replaced the rear tires 5,000 miles ago to remedy the excessive wear. the new tires are cupping again. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the rear of the vehicle vibrated at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to a mechanic for an oil change and the rear suspension was inspected. the mechanic noticed that the tires had uneven wearing and advised the contact to go to the dealer. the dealer stated that the control arms and all four tires needed to be replaced. the dealer will cover the cost for the replacement of the control arms, but not the tires. the failure mileage was 19,660 and current mileage was 19,860.
Strange/excessive tire wear. *tr
Hello, i have a 2007 honda civic ex sedan. recently, everytime you go over 45 mph there is so much road noise that there is no way being able to talk in the car. we have already replaced the four set of tires, ran a tire rotation and the issue still persists. i have done some research and i am not the only one that is having problems. i have called honda and they told its the tires, where i only have 30,000 miles on my car. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic si. the contact replaced two sets of tires in less than 14,000 miles. a front end alignment has also been performed twice. the mechanic stated that there was a caliber problem on the rear tires. the failure has caused the tires to shred on the side very quickly. honda has also informed the contact that the vehicle was designed that way. a local dealer confirmed that the design of the vehicle caused the failure and that there must be a flaw in the way the vehicle was driven. the tires have shredded every 5000 miles. honda insist that the wheel bearings were not related to the failure nor is the failure related to campaign number 07v399000, service brakes, hydraulic antilock wheel speed sensor. the failure mileage was 6000 miles and the current mileage was 14000 miles.
Unusual rear tire wear and high road noise. *tr
Excessive tire wear on rear of 06 and 07 honda civics due to a combination of the tires and rear suspension geometry. tires are rendered unsafe and must be replaced along with upper control arms and flange bolts. tires are from goodyear, bridgestone, and dunlop. numerous posts are on the internet, including accidents with property damage. honda has not issued a recall and will only perform service on a customer complaint. *tr
Jan. 14, 2008, while driving my 2007 honda civic, i notice at 55mph the civic vibrate and make an unusual noise. i took my civic into my local honda dealership on jan. 16, 2008 for complaints about vibration at 55mph and clicking when trying to start my civic. there was no problem found on the clicking, when i arrived i had the service writer to come out and listen to the clicking, the service writer agreed there was clicking. the other issue of vibration when at 55mph i was advised honda will contact me once a repair is available on the service customer copy form. also, the service writer told me over the phone there had been numerous complaints about this issue honda would repair the problem, the problem is causing my tires to wear uneven and i was going to get new tires. *tr
Front tires are significantly worn after 8,000 miles. they have very little traction on wet pavement. the tires simply spin when starting from a dead stop. *tr
I bought my 2007 honda civic lx 4-door sedan on may 6, 2007. i drive about 120 highway miles each day and in november 2007, i had to replace the tires because of excessive wear on the passenger-side rear tire. i took the vehicle to the dealership but they said the car was "in-spec" and that i should have rotated the tires sooner. i document every drop of fuel that i put in my car. i write down when i change the oil, when i get it washed and where. nothing does undocumented, including the information about when i rotated the tires. that was not good enough for the dealership and they insisted that i get the vehicle aligned and buy new tires from them. i refused and took my vehicle somewhere else to have the work done. i am very unsatisfied with twin city honda in nederland texas and with honda for not addressing that they have a problem with the suspension on the 2007 honda civic. *tr
Separation of tread from the wheel...cracks in the sidewall. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. the vehicle has goodyear eagle rs-a, size p245/45r18 tires. the rear tires on the inside edge were wearing out very quickly due to exaggerated camber setting. the top of both rear tires were leaning inwards and wearing out the inside edge of the tire. the current mileage was 13,874 and failure mileage was 13,362. updated 04/03/08. *lj
I have a honda civic si, 2007 model, that i had a flat and replaced one tire. tire dealership replaced tire at around 6000 miles, when going in to honda dealership for maintenance (rotation tires, oil change) the shop foreman informed me that the tire was bad because my car was now pulling. when stating pulling, it was a major pull, not slight pull. i took car back to tire dealership and they refused to even drive my car, said it was normal to have it pull. took car to another tire dealership and they replaced tire. upon going to dealership again for maintenance, the new tire was rotated to front of car again and it was pulling again. shop foreman insist it is the tire. i bring car back to tire dealership at which time he realizes that the tire is not the right tire. orders the correct tire and installed it and the car still pulls. now this is not repeat not a slight pull, but a major pull. if i do not hold the steering wheel to the right i would be in the ditch or other lane upon taking off. the pull is really a hard pull. i have taken the car back to dealership, because tire dealership says its the car, car dealership says its the tire? can someone help? please *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda civic si. while driving at approximate speeds of 50 mph, the front passenger side tire blew out without warning. the next week, the rear driver side tire blew out suddenly. upon further inspection, the contact believed the failure to be attributed to the manner in which the tires were mounted to the vehicle. the dealer advised the vehicle would need a specific unknown tire and an alignment. the contact confirmed the failure persisted and the dealer was unable to determine the exact cause of the failure. the failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 75,000.
Dangerous handling and extreme uneven tire wear due to defective rear suspension design. honda issues a tsb 08-001 alert to all honda dealers, but refuses to replace defective rear suspension at mfg cost. three sets of tires and a new set of rear control arms later, after just finding out about the tsb 08-001 alert, has resulted in over $3,000 of repairs to replace tires, brakes and the failed rear suspension (control arms) components that have caused these issues. there are multiple class action law suits both active and pending. please contact us with questions as we have documented all our maintenance in great detail. *tr
Car was purchased new in march of 2007. i immediately noticed that when driving 60 mph or more on the freeway, the car seemed to swerve and was very hard to keep in the lane. i've driven honda civics and other small cars for more than 20 years so this was very unexpected. i took the car to a local dealer was told that the tires were fine and that they saw no problem with the car. i continued to notice the difficulty in steering the vehicle until the bridgestone factory tires were rotated at 6000 miles. moving the tires seemed to decrease the problem so i again mentioned this to the dealer. they again checked all tires and assured me no problem existed. six thousand miles later, another rotation and once again the problem starts occurring again. the dealer checked tires again and still can find no problem. i think there is a definite problem with some of the bridgestone tires that come with these civics. *tr
