The car has ignition problems.
When i start the car it wouldn't start all the time, sporadically i would get no start. the light, acc, radio, nav everything turns on but the engine wont start. i try again few times it will start, i bought this car in july 2014, 31000 miles on it till date. i notified the dealership in may 2017, they could not find anything wrong with it until the warranty period expired then they sold me a battery thinking that would solve the "no start" problem. i called honda and inquired after researching the internet they refused to address the problem until their dealership is able to re create it. 3 months later the problem became so worse i would get no start 2nd/3rd time i start the car, i took it to another dealership and they identified it's the starter and would cost me $1000 to replace. once the starter was replaced, i had the problem resurface 4 times that month. i took it back to the dealership and they replaced the defective starter again under warranty. 3 weeks later i had the same problem, 4 times no start in the same week, i took it back to the dealership again and they rotated the gear pinion ring/adjusted the torque converter as per honda. the problem has not happened since, these service guys at the dealership i'm going are excellent but i cant imagine i'm driving honda 's top of the class accord ex-l which is so very unreliable.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. while the vehicle was stationary, it would not start when prompted. carey park honda in snellville, georgia was made aware of the failure, but could not determine the source of the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. when the push to start button was depressed, the vehicle did not start. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the failure occurred for the past three months. the vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure was described in technical service bulletin number: 16-002. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
Oil life at 40%. car was making noise. while driving and pressed on brakes ...oil pressure light would turn on and off. checked oil on car. no drop of oil in the engine. excessive oil consumption. no leaks.. carbon found on cylinders, inside engine and on pinston rings. this is not normal especially when consistent oil changes, fuel injection was cleaned, and cvt transmission is also replaced consistently. i just bought the car 6months ago. engine is currently dismantled and warranty does not cover! completely upsetting!
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that the starter on the vehicle was defective and prevented the vehicle from starting. there were no warning indicators illuminated before or after the failure. the vehicle was taken to matt castrucci honda (3013 mall park dr, dayton, oh) where it was diagnosed that the starter motor failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 33,000.
My 2014 accord ex sedan is on recall notice and i am having a final repair on the battery management senor next week. for several weeks i am experiencing an electrical problem intermittently trying to start my car. when i push the start button with my foot on the brake pedal sometimes the care does not start. i have had the car since nov. 2013 and have only had this problem for the past few weeks. all symbols on the instrument panel light up and quickly go off and i get a notice on the instrument panel "power is on": when i push the button again 1-3 times, the car starts. i have not experienced problems with stalling or cutting off while in motion. my battery is only 2 yr. old. and it was just checked last month and the charge was ok. clearly there is a short affecting ignition of the ignition of the engine. the problem i have described has so far only occurred when the car is stationary. i only have 42,000 miles on the car and so this should not be happening and is quite disturbing; it can become a major safety problem. i know that nhtsa has issued honda electrical system campaigns f/ recall notices for other honda vehicles with the same problem, but yet for my 2014 sedan. it needs to be included. from reviewing the nhtsa complaint database it is clear this is a known problem by nhtsa and honda and needs to be dealt with. i am requesting that this complaint be expeditiously investigated and the problem for my car and is recognized as a systemic problem for multiple honda products for many years and honda figure out a permanent solution. i am requesting that honda covers the cost of parts/labor to fix even though i am past the regular warranty period (except i am still within the power train warranty ) this week (november 13 to 11/17) problem occurred 4 times.
Vehicle was parked in private residential driveway and not moving. woke to find engine compartment of vehicle in flames.
My vehicle is having starting issues. on some mornings, it will take about 15 or more times to actually start my vehicle, and some mornings it will turn over immediately. it is very disturbing because i have a 2014 vehicle and should not be having any problems with it as far as it starting. i have also been informed that there was a recall on newer hondas for this exact reason, the starter. as always, my vehicle is stationary when trying to start it.
My 2014 accord, purchased in april 2014, began burning oil and had to have extensive work/repairs done. according to a recall notice on models manufactured shortly after mine, a similar issue occurred. i was informed by the service center that they had seen several cars the same model as mine with the same issue but no recall notice had been issued yet. if not already done, i believe this issue should be looked into for a potential recall. i can send documents of what work was done.
My car has been to honda twice for the same problem. the first incident was june 20th at 5pm at whole foods in phoenix. the car would turn over then die. the next morning i took it to honda (it started and drove). i picked it up at 5pm, they stated they could find nothing wrong with the car. as i'm sitting in the car at honda the car died and wouldn't start. the next day they told me it was the starter and replaced it and i picked up the car friday june 23rd. the car was fine until sunday around 3pm at safeway on phoenix where the car would start and then die. i took an uber home and scheduled a tow. when i got back to safeway the car started and i drove it home. monday morning june 26 i took it to my local mechanic who diagnosed the fuel pump to be bad after two days. i towed it back to honda on june 28th to have the fuel pump changed under warranty. they had to order the part and i did not get my car back until july 8th. on my way to work tuesday july 11th the car died while on the freeway interchange between i10w and i17n and was forced to the side of the rode (there's barely a shoulder) and wait for a tow as the car would no start. i was towed to showcase honda where the car is now. this last incident was more than just an inconvenience it was completely unsafe. this is the third time they have had the car and i have almost no confidence they are capable of figuring out what is wrong with this car (that's under warranty) and i honestly don't feel safe driving that car any longer.
The battery was messed up and i wasnt even aware of the recall and i had to pay for a replacement battery. i just read about the recall
This car consumes 3 quarts of oil between oil changes.
Initial problem with push button start - would not start on first push. started at about 55k mileage. problem has worsened - may start on first push, but sometimes takes many pushes in combination with brake release and depressing or just pushing without touching the brake - then braking and pushing. very intermittent in terms of how many pushes - sometimes just a couple, sometime 10 or more! now at just under 60k mileage, car cannot be trusted. error codes come up as 85-01 vsa system malfunction and 61-11 vsa modulator control unit power source circuit (ic) low voltage and b-1240 - a problem in the mode control linkage door or motor. these error codes do not seem related to the push button start issue, but is another problem to investigate and fix. the push button problem happens to many people and honda is aware of it. my mechanic called his inside contact at the local dealer and they keep starters on hand for this. they will not handle as a warranty or 'recall' type problem and one has to pay a lot for the fix - starter replacement can be close to $1k!! another honda contact knows of this issue - it is because the starter on the accord, especially the 2.4l engine, is mounted below the exhaust manifold, heats up significantly and begins to fail - depends more on the # of starts than mileage, apparently. my accord is started many times per day. this issue should be fixed under a recall event, i believe, but i must get mine fixed now!!! not good! also a problem from day 1, is the forward warning camera gets hot, here in southern cal, and will not work until the ac system cools it down. very unsafe and worthy of further review as well. *js
There has been numerous complaints in regards to the starter having a "grinding", "static-like", or "whining" sound and it has seemingly affected my car as well. for example, when i am preparing to leave for my destination, do a basic press of the starter button, and i will hear that grinding and whining sound... on occasion, it will take a number of tries to get the car started. this has been happening on the regular. there is a honda technical bulletin (dated february 5, 2016) number 16-002 in regards to the starter and also a pending class action lawsuit (merkin v. honda north american inc., american honda motor co., honda motor company ltd.) i cannot pinpoint an exact date on when this started (i gave you my best answer), but it has been going on for several months and i fear if it continues, it could hurt my car in the long run or i could possibly be stranded if i go on a long journey somewhere
I have reported the loss of motor oil to the dealer twice, in april, and today june 10. the service technician stated that hondas will lose a quart of oil every 1000 miles.. i asked lose?? he said yes. i am concerned that they are not addressing the issue. this is the second time i go in to get service.
2014 honda accord sport experiencing progressive intermittent starting problems with 56,000 miles on odometer. car has a new battery less than 4 months old. clicking sound can be heard under engine but starter will not turn. after 3 to 15 attempts starter will engage and car starts. problem occurs at any time, with hot or cold engine. internet search shows many others are experiencing same problem. dealers are recommending starter replacement. dealer repair is between $600 to $900.
Engine constantly burns oil and needs to be refilled
The month after our vehicle warranty expired, everything went wrong. i had trouble turning my car on for the time when i was at work (about an 8 mile drive from home).. i drove to work with no issues and about 3 hours later of it being stationary, it wouldn't turn on. i tried about 10 times. i had to leave my car there overnight and call someone to pick me up. i was lucky that i realized it wasn't working during lunch. i usually got off from work at 6pm when there was no one left in the office and if i didn't have a phone on me, i would have been alone there in an unsafe neighborhood. .the mechanic told me it was the starter and seeing how it was a 3 year car with not enough miles to warrant starter problems, that it was defective. we took it to honda and they said they would not cover the charges. we paid for a new starter out of pocket and it solved the problem. now the power window button on the driver's side for the front passenger window does not work. one day it just stopped working. i typically drive with my mom in the passenger seat and she often gets anxiety attacks. the wind makes her feel better and when an episode while driving happened, i wasn't able to put her window down to help her. the left headlight on the car is also broken. i didn't realize it right away since the right one works. in a sense, it's terrible that something in the car was broken and that there was no car signal to notify me. we realize that cars require upkeep, but for a 5 year old car to have this many mechanical issues is ridiculous. i realize that these
In july 2016, dealer replaced starter based on service bulletin. had complained for some time that occasionally when starting the vehicle, the starter energizes but does not engage the flywheel. i provided a video of the occurrence to the dealer which prompted the replacement in july. car was fine for a couple of months, then the problem began to reoccur. returned to dealer who evaluated and because the issue is intermittent could find nothing wrong. on 12/6/16, tried several times to start my vehicle without success. all you hear is the whining of the starter, i have on video. let vehicle sit a while and tried later with success. brought vehicle back to dealer the next day, showed them the video. the took vehicle in and determined everything was normal. they did not experience the issue with the starter because it is intermittent, occurring about every 3-4 days. they sent me on my way. i am concerned that with winter in full swing, i will be stranded out in my car because of a faulty starter. i am uncomfortable going anywhere with my vehicle.
The 2014 accord ex-l v6 has issues downshifting while coasting at 45mph down to 25mph in city streets. at 40mph and 30mph, the rpm goes from 2k to 1k quickly and roughly. also, the car hesitates when trying to accelerate around 30mph or 40mph.
This vehicle has no start condition at time. battery has been replaced in three different occassions during a course of 26 months. this vehicle was stationary.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. while starting the vehicle, a whining noise was heard coming from the engine compartment. occasionally, the engine would not start immediately. the vehicle was taken to ed morse honda (3790 w blue heron blvd, riviera beach, fl 33404) where the starter was examined, but no failure was found. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the manufacturer's technical service bulletin number: 16-002. the failure mileage was 25,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact heard a loud noise coming from the motor. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. the vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Excessive oil consumption....honda saying it is normal .....
Had oil consumption test at honda dealer i bought car from. documented car losing quart oil every 1000 miles or 2 quarts between 8000 mile oil changes. honda does not find this excessive and states a quart per 1000 miles is acceptable, which is total bs. i will never recommend or buy a honda product in the future!
Did see one time low oil pressure signal for about 2 sec when did move on the street with the speed about 30 mph. did add one quarter of the oil. in two days there was no oil in engine. immediately bring the vehicle to dealership at 9am on 5/28/16 can't trust this vehicle and do afraid to use it.
Car was stopped with transmission in park and engine idling. the engine accelerated to over 2000 rpm with foot on brake and not on accelerator. i pushed the stop/start button and shut engine off. i restarted engine and it again ran at over 2000 rpm with foot on brake and not on accelerator. shut off and restarted again and it went from over 2000 rpm back to normal idle. i drove car home and had two repeat accelerations so drove car to shop.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. while attempting to start the vehicle and pressing the push to start button, the contact had to make multiple attempts to start the vehicle. the cause of the failure was not determined. rockettown honda (1224 n h st, lompoc, ca) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that the engine stalled without warning while driving approximately 20 mph. the vehicle came to a stop when it crashed into a pole. the driver sustained bruises to the right and left wrist that did not require medical attention. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to the local dealer, but a diagnostic was not performed. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v121000 (engine and engine cooling). the approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
My 2014 honda accord coupe has 33,900+ miles and for the past year, i have had it in to fox honda in grand rapids four times for the same problem. the problem is, that it stutters often when accelerating and twice, the engine has stalled out and had to be restarted. fox motors plugs a computer into the car and they tell me that there are no reports of any problems and they can't fix what they can't detect. two days ago, while driving to the va hospital in battle creek, i pulled out into traffic on anderson rd/street and the car stalled and a fedex semi had to drive onto shoulder and onto a yard to keep from hitting us and if he hadn't, we might have been killed. i took the car into fox motors and they are standing pat, refusing to help us. they did offer to buy the car back from me, but for a terrible price and i asked them what they would do with it and they dealership manager said that they would resell it with confidence and i refused to sell it to them if they were going to resell it with a service certification. how dare them do that! i don't know what to do next.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. while driving 70 mph, the rpm gauge fluctuated consistently without warning. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
I was driving along on the highway upon slightly braking a strong vibrating started from the wheels to the engine i look into honda and problems regarding them when i lost power like a stall is related to engine which causes the vibrating as well as the braking vibrating is a well known problem with honda warp rotors with only 14,600 miles should'nt be having these issues to early cause im normal driver alsothe aircondtion blowing hot air screen going black on the dash board in and out i pay alot of money very upset with whats happening out of nowhere with this car
Flashing dashboard: fcw, engine light on, stabilizer control light,abs- all the lights flashing on dash board, unable to start card. brake pedal very hard. car was parked on street in front of home. fifth time this has happened the dealer claims it's the fourth time. car problem has never been fixed. the dealer blames alarm department. the alarm department claims dealer always blames them. however, i bought the car from the dealer, they are responsible for permanently fixing this problem. the dealership has not fixed this problem since it began in 2015. this falls inside of 18 months lemon law. i am not a mechanic but it seems to me that this is a ongoing electrical problem that the dealership seems not receptive about it.
Upon trying to accelerate, the engine hesitated then stalled. upon restarting and attempting to accelerate, the engine surged forward. driving on the freeway the engine lost power momentarily then reengaged. the a.c./climate control is again not functioning properly, and the hands-free phone function disconnected multiple times. the car was taken the car to a honda dealership approximately one week ago to have the air conditioning defect repairs completed. at that time they were unable to repair the trunk lid that has been falling down since i took possession of the vehicle in july 2014. the trunk lid falls at will.
When starting the engine a loud squealing noise happens and it can go away or remain for multiple attempts. the starter light is on during this entire process. it may not happen for weeks then mult times a day
5/1/2014hesitation (unexpected acceleration) occurs intermittently at low speed. when the car is at a low speed and more power is needed and the accelerator is pressed there is no response initially; accelerator is then pressed more and the car then accelerates much more than was expected, resulting in a jerky, on/off type action. i believe this could cause an accident either when trying to merge into traffic or when trying to accelerate gently and having the car accelerate more than expected (in a parking lot or heavy slow traffic etc). *tr
My 2014 honda accord sport with only 5687 miles on it suddenly accelerated as i was pulling into a parking space. i was driving approximately 5 mph. i had to slam on the brakes to avoid driving over the concrete barrier. i have recently noticed a strong gasoline smell upon starting the vehicle, which dissipates after a few minutes. this was an extremely scary experience. *tr
Engine cranks but fails to start, or starts sluggishly with rough idle after a few seconds of cranking in cold weather. i believe this to be a fuel pump pressure problem. *tr
Rodent damage to gas line, emission system, gas tank, and numerous other parts in an actively driven car (not stored). leading to major gas leak (half a tank of gas in a duration of a standstill at red light) that placed drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and bystanders' life at risk. would've lead to catastrophic ending if exhaust was hot. gas spilled over stretch of 2 blocks, majority concentrating at intersection between heath and main st. buffalo ny, which required the fire department to clean up. 911 was contacted for patches of flammable gasoline, which could have been ignited for numerous reasons leading to fatality. reason for filing compliant. vehicle which this happened to was a brand new 2014 honda accord purchased in june 2014. repairs denied to be covered under warranty by honda dealership and america honda. stating accident events like this is not covered, and is not a mechanical defect. two conservative repair required, still not fixed. dysfunctional car for a period of 6 days and counting. for rodent damage to occur in a brand new, actively driven car is indicative of obvious flaws in the design itself. 1. the machinery was exposed and unprotected. 2. the quality of built material was substandard for it to be damaged in a overnight situation by some "rodent" no larger than those that can fit in, and maneuver, within a confined space (seriously, i do not believe a rodent would randomly choose my car on the street to squeeze into and just bit a wire (numerous wires) without purposes of building a news or for food). 3. disproportion between the price paid for the car and the quality of service which followed it. *tr
we smelled fuel when driving to church on a sunday. thinking it was some leftover fuel splashed, we continued but then the smell became really intense. so we turned around and returned toward home. upon entering our street, suddenly the vehicle stalled totally out and came to a stop in middle of the road! we rolled it over to the side, it is a neighborhood street; then started car again and went slowly downhill to the house; car stalled again just outside our house, we could not get it into driveway, very strong fuel smell; we pushed it to get it parked on the street. tried again later that day to start the car but it wouldn't start, very strong fuel smell and gasoline leaking onto the street. car towed to honda dealer next day; after technicians examined the car they concluded "rodent damage" to the fuel line leading to the fuel tank. they would not cover any of the damage as it "wasn't manufacturer defect." also called national honda customer service and opened a case; but they would not agree either to cover anything. we were very lucky we weren't on a highway or interstate when this suddenly stalled out, we could have been rear ended as the car suddenly stopped with no warning! the fuel line last portion leading into the tank is made of rubber, it is not metal or hard plastic like the rest of the line and therefore subject to something sharp puncturing it--which is a defective design in our view. the new part they put on is same as the old, the same thing could happen again. there is no shield under the fuel tank area to keep things from underneath getting up in there. honda should at least cover the cost of the repair (we paid $684.09), car is almost brand new. and we believe this is a safety hazard, car can shut off with no warning. thank you for your help. *tr
I drove the brand new honda accord with my 9 year old son on high way 93 south in the middle of the lane. it was friday noon time, busy in high way. i felt something wrong with the car and tried to changed to slow lane. the engine stopped working with error code instead of "d" in the panel. there was big truck behind me. i pulled it over. it was within 24 hour after we picked up the car. it was scary experience! luckily, we are safe! even luckier, it happened when i drove it, not my 20 year old, inexperienced child drove. i could not imagine what would happen it occurred while he drove. dealer told us it was regulator in the transmission system broken. they replaced the transmission as a solution. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. the contact was able to merge onto the side of the road where the vehicle was restarted and resume normal function. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. however, the technician advised that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and required further inspection. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 88,833.
Car has started to stall while driving. i was coming up to a red light traveling about 10 miles per hour and the car cut off.
Similar to nhtsa complaints #10619205, #10607907, #10655300, #10630708, and #10628501. driving my vehicle on interstate, going approximately 70 mph. the vehicle came to a large incline and began accelerating, and all of a sudden, the entire vehicle shuddered violently and lost all acceleration, and the malfunction indicator lamp came on and was blinking. it felt like the vehicle had shifted out of gear, and it could not get back in gear. after over 10 minutes, i restarted the vehicle, and the light did not come back on. although i could feel that pushing on the gas pedal did not feel the same, and it felt as if the vehicle was hesitating and struggling to switch gears up and accelerate. on 8/29/2014, again on the interstate, while again in cruise control (eco boost was not active), going approximately 70 mph, accelerating up a large incline, the vehicle again, all of a sudden, shuddered violently and lost all acceleration, and the malfunction indicator lamp came on and was blinking. it felt like the vehicle had shifted out of gear, and it could not get back in gear. approximately 70 miles later, without cruise control, going approximately 65 mph, accelerating up a large incline, the vehicle again, all of a sudden, shuddered violently and lost all acceleration. the malfunction indicator lamp came on and was blinking and the dashboard lit up with a message stating ?fcw system failed.? the fcw indicator light was lit on my dashboard, as well as the ldw light, the low tire pressure light, the electric power steering (eps) system indicator, and the vehicle stability assist (vsa) system indicator. it felt like the vehicle had shifted out of gear and it could not get back in gear or it could not accelerate. after 3 service calls, honda's response is only "cannot replicate, so there is no problem." there is obviously a serious problem. *js
I have a brand new 2014 honda accord sport. it hesitates when i accelerate from almost any speed. this is dangerous as i am nervous if i have to accelerate quickly for any reason, and getting on the highway can be tough too. i have seen others list this same issue on here, it's obviously a big problem with this car. *tr

Caution, be careful - my car stopped when the start button was pressed while driving. the start button is near my knee and an accidental press caused my moving car to shut down - fortunately i was just starting and only going 5 mph. can you imagine what would happen if my knee hit the start button while going 65 in traffic.. the dealer said that is normal!! *tr
