We have classified the 211 complaints from 2014 Honda Accord about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Backup camera is now black and not working at all. i brought the car into the dealer because it was dark and pixelated they offered to charge me over $400 to just replace it. now when i put the car into reverse the camera is black, it has stopped working all together. the 2 lines still show up on the screen, so the screen is not an issue but no video. this is a big safety issue. also now when i put my blinker on the side camera seems to roll , like an old tv horizontal hold, before it becomes clear
Electronic start button does not work intermittently. battery is fine. power to car turns on but the engine does not turn over. numerous other complaints online by 2014 honda accord owners.
The backup camera display has a black screen and no image of what's behind the vehicle. sometimes it comes back on but is fuzzy and blurry. it then goes back to black. in both cases the rear back up camera feature is useless and causing a safety hazard for the driver. additionally the seat memory feature has gone out as well. it no longer remembers the location for driver 1 or driver 2. the movement of the driver's seat is also affected and does not move continuously when the controls are engaged. this affects the safety of the driver and proper seat location and viewpoint.
My 2014 honda accord sport (72,000 miles) has intermittent starting issues. when attempting to start car, there will be no sounds or clicks, but all of the lights engage as if the better is fully charged. then after 3-4 attempts the engine will turn over and start as if nothing was wrong at all. my local honda dealership seems to think this is a starter issue, but this does not seem like a normal starter problem as it is very intermittent and makes not clicking sound. have had issue for about 2 months now.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that it took numerous attempts to start the vehicle and the starter warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the starter was repaired. the failure recurred and the mechanic replaced the battery. the failure recurred a third time. the vehicle was not repaired again. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 54,000.
For my 2014 honda accord purchased brand new in 2014, i started having starter issues after about 52k miles. i was surprised because generally a starter is supposed to be a long lasting part. honda dealer did not cover it stating its past cars warranty. i did contact honda and they are also saying car is out of warranty. they mentioned something about case may be reviewed but that mostly it's not covered. i also checked online and a lot of other accord owners also had similar issues and there was a class action lawsuit in this regard.
Our car has 32,000 miles on it and the starter went out and had to be replaced. according the internet that iseems to be a problem that occurs quiet often. it cost around $500.00 to fix it and it should never have happened at that low a mileage. with this problem happening so often it seems to be a problem with hondas. the car was in the garage when it happened but we had taken it to the dearlership 2 times telling them the indicator lights said starter problem but they said they can't do anything until it stops. that was very upsetting because it could have happened anywhere. i am 83 years old and would have been in trouble if it happened away from home, we had to pay to have it towed to the dealership, they were also very rude to us because we are old saying do you know you must press the brake in to start it? then saying maybe you should press harder. that response would never have been given to a middle age gentleman.
Push button start intermittently does not start car -- lights come on but wont start think it may be part of the probelms stated onder tsb 16002 apparently a defect in the design of the starter system n--- however honda will not pay if out of warranty at 45000 miles should not happen honda needs to man up
Starter motor would not start vehicle after numerous times. problem kept getting worst until it took about 10-12 attempts beore it would start. dealer a one time good faith replacement and charged a $106.00 fee. problem has been solved for now. car had about 53k miles.
Push button start does not work at times. leaving me stranded. very common complaint for 2014 honda accord and earlier models. needs a recall.
3 lights illuminated on my dash, traction control, power steering, and tpms. dealer says its the abs module. at only 53,000 miles, i believe this is premature failure. poor design on honda behalf. same with the small oem battery honda puts in these vehicles. also failed prematurely. honda needs to issue recall for abs module. vehicle was in park and took 5 attempts to start the vehicle, vehicle would start and stall, after 5 attempts vehicle stayed on with 3 warning lights and was able to drive away.
Check charge system warning alerts turned on and vehicle electrical started shorting soon after while driving on highway. power steering and brakes started to fail. managed to drive home when problem first appeared. problem went away and came back. towed vehicle to dealer service department. they said i had a bad alternator. original recall for this vehicle (17v-418) stated "the battery sensor case mounted on top of 12 v battery may have gaps that could allow for moisture to enter the sensor. if moisture containing road salt enters the battery sensor, it could result in an electrical short and subsequently, a fire. the charging system indicator may illuminate in the multi-information display when a problem is detected with the battery sensor prior to the time that a short may occur." i addressed my concern with service representative that this battery issue may have caused my electrical failure. dealer said my alternator is bad and needed replacement and didn't agree that the battery issue may have caused this. my total bill was $862.67 plus towing. as i did some research online i found this to be a common issue with the honda accord 2014. not sure if any recourse is possible but thought i report my issue.
I took my car to honda dealership 2 weeks ago.they reprogram a key and replace a recall sensor, so i was told. they also did a system update.since then i have had multiple issue with my car. 1st was a charging system warning, which i thought was my alternator or battery, but they said was nothing. three days ago i got into my car to start it and it would not start stated " fcw system failed" after 3 attempts its started but acceleration would not respond. rmp stayed below 2000 even with my foot deep on the gas pedal. i turn the car off and let it sit for for 20 mins , then it accelerator came back. but fwc and all service lights stayed on. wake up the next day all lights went away like nothing had happened. today i was driving home and the acceleration occur again. while on the high way it would not respond. made it home safe. as i was about to get in my car again it would not start. car has power but is not starting. at one point of trying to start my mph gaged was flicking, even after i release the start button. ive read many reports by customers having the same issue with the fwc fail as well as the starter system. base on my research it seems that only honda accord 2014 having this issue. honda cant seem to find the source of the problem and this is bad. whatever the cause may be honda needs to find a solution to this. i was left stranded with no help and no one to call on. because one moment my car was driving like the 2014 car it is and next it was not.
Every once in a while i am not able to start the car. the battery is good and the battery in the key fob has been replaced. when i push the button, nothing happens. after awhile (a few minutes to 30 minutes or so)the car will crank. this is happening more and more frequently. i am concerned that i will soon be stranded and not able to wait this out.
3 dashboard lights appear illuminated on dashboard all at once while driving the car, these three lights that remain illuminated include 1) anti-lock brake system (abs) light, 2) vehicle stability control system (vsc) light, and 3) electric power steering light. honda dealer told me that the abs modulator needs to be replaced and that my car was not under warranty anymore (3yrs or 36k miles). the quote i recieved to replace the abs modulator from the honda dealership was $1,700. i decided to google abs modulator for honda accord to see if there were other accord owners that have a similar issue. upon search from youtube and honda forums, i found there to be other owners that have the same problem with 3 lights illuminated (abs, vsc and electric power steering) and the repair cost if not under warranty can range from $1,300 to as high as $2,000 from what i saw other honda accord owners to report. i feel as though honda is not taking responsibility to repair this outside of the warranty and feel as though they sold me a dysfunctional car. i feel compelled to write this complaint because my car value is 10k and to repair the abs modulator i would have to fork up nearly 20% of my cars value for an electrical issue that was perhaps faulty design on hondas part. thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you investigate it further.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. when the contact pressed the push/start button to start the vehicle, the engine would not immediately start. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 60,000.
My car was stationary. it was parked at a shopping mall parking lot . when i came back after shopping my car won't start. this has happened twice within a month. the electric ingition is not working. this is electric start failure. there should be an urgent recall. this is very unsafe as it keeps happening even when i am on the road.
Fuel pump 2014 honda accord ..
To whom it may concern, i've been reviewing several website's where car owners of 2014 honda accord sedan's has reported where the ignition will not turn over when you insert their key. i have to turn my key and take it out at least 5 times in over for the ignition to turn over. this is a major concern for my especially if i'm stranded. i was in my parking garage on 11/19/18 at 5:30pm where my car will not start. i had to take my key out and insert it in the ignition for about 5 times before it turnover. my car has had its routinely check ups and i'm not sure as to why this is happening all or suddenly. i'm noticing that this has been happen for about 2 months. when i taken my car to my local dealership- duval honda on casset ave and they stated that no one has reported this issue. however i have review plenty of complaints of the similar issue that i'm having.
I only problem i have for this 2014 honda accord lx vehicle is the starting issue. sometimes i cannot start the car and it strands me on the roadside or parking lot several times. i went to the honda dealer and they checked that there's nothing wrong. i also went to other auto repair stores several times. and some of them said it's the starter's problem; others said it's alternator or battery's problem. the problem still exists. and when the weather becomes cold, the car cannot be started more frequently than warm days. this problem causes me big troubles because i have to pay a lot to jump start it. and it left me on the road which is unsafe. the car is only 4 years old and only 55000 miles on the odometer. there are so many similar cases with other honda owner on the internet. i seriously think that honda should take care of the problem and make a safety recall to fix the problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated the starter malfunctioned and the vehicle stalled. the contact opened the hood and the engine started smoking so he disconnected the battery. the vehicle was taken to the dealer visalia honda (1016 s ben maddox way, visalia, ca 93292, (866) 220-5340) where the contact was advised that there was no recall on the vehicle. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer had not been contacted. the failure mileage was unknown.
Since the expiration of the vehicle's warranty, the following issues have occurred. both door locking actuators have failed and require replacement. this failure requires the driver to manually lock and unlock the vehicle. the air conditioning blower motor has failed several times and will eventually need to be replaced, causing no air to flow through the vents in some of the hottest and coldest days of the year. most noticeably the starter and starter solenoid has failed on several occasions, preventing the engine from starting, and will also need to be replaced.
The multi-informational display and radio turn off randomly on their own and re-boot while driving. this occurs randomly and when it does occur, usually occurs several times in a row. there have also been other occasions where the electrical system completely shuts down upon turning off the vehicle and the vehicle cannot be locked, unlocked or re-started.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. while driving 10 mph, the contact noticed smoke under the hood of the vehicle. the battery warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle caught on fire under the hood. the fire department extinguished the fire. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed to a tow yard. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. it was unknown if the vehicle was a total loss. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
After 4 yrs and 60k miles this car has had a starter replaced by the dealer and i've gotthen two new batteries. need to jump start every now and then even after the car has been turned off only while stopping for a couple off minutes. can't rely on this car to be on time to pick up kids from school or get to work
My alternator reading is at 12.0, with the car still being this recent, the price of a new alternator is very expensive. i was hoping maybe to see if honda actually has a recall on this model.
Car will not start-faulty igniton switch. i started having starter problems for the past 2 weeks. last week it didn't start at all .
I purchased honda accord 2014 as used and have just 42k miles on it now. it started giving starting troubles since past 2 weeks. last week it didn't start at all . finally it started once & took the car to dealership & i was told that starter has gone bad. costed $800 to replace it.
2014 honda accord. consumer writes in regards to battery sensor recall and connecting rod bolts safety recall. *ld *js
Starter button has gone bad at 40k miles. battery is new, key fob battery is new, still car won't start at least 3-4 times a week. after several tries, it finally starts. very dangerous to be stranded somewhere.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that the push to start button needed to be depressed several times in order for the vehicle to start. additionally, the back up camera failed to work. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to coggin honda jacksonville (11003 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, fl 32225, (904) 302-8217) where it was diagnosed that the starter and camera needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 09018590. the failure mileage was 40,000.
When you press the start button, it just clicks. after a few tries, it would start. the problem is a faulty starter (not the button, key, or battery). after only 60k miles? honda charged $900 to replace it. called honda america and they refused to reimburse me. i am disappointed that honda does not stand by its products any more. they used to be dependable cars.
On 24 august 2018, several lights came on in the dash, to include the the fcw, ldw, brakes and power steering. i took the vehicle to honda and was told that my vsa modulator may need to be replaced. they reset it and told me that if the lights come back on, i would definitely need to get it replaced. needless to say, the lights came back on 2 hours later. i called the dealership and was told they had to order the part, which was $1400 +tax and labor. this is a serious safety issue that needs to be investigated.
When i try to start my car, most of the time it won't start. it just clicks. i have to try multiple times and eventually it will start. this is a common problem that honda should fix. and it is a safety issue because, if it is dark out and your car won't start, then you are a target for a criminal. i am losing my faith in the reliability of honda's.
My 2014 honda accord has 42,000 miles. starting a couple months ago, the car would not start randomly. (battery, alternator tested good. no issues with them) i drive a manual transmission, if the car stalls in traffic or on a hill i wouldn't be able to start the car back up. this is extremely dangerous! i have been stranded places because the car won't start. one time it was 100 degrees outside and i couldn't leave to go home from work because it wouldn't start. since the issue started a couple months ago, it is no much worse. i have to turn the key 15 to 20 times and it finally will start. sometimes it wont. i have read that many people have issues with these 9th gen honda accord starters failing. mine failed at 42,000 miles? what modern car's starter dies that early?! someone else's starter died at 24,000 miles. many posts online about the issue. took the car to the dealership, they wanted $800 to fix the issue. my warranty expired at 36,000 miles. so dangerous, expensive, and frustrating! this problem needs to be fixed by honda.
Starting from last month, the car sometimes cannot be started when i turned the key to start the car. there was no sound. the engine could not be started. in the beginning, it happened about 1-2 times per week. and it could be started after 4-5 trials. now it happens almost every day. sometimes i tried 10 min but it still does not work. the machinist examined the vehicle and said that the battery was good. the honda dealer said it needed to replace the starter with the cost about $900. it seems a known problem since there are lots of complaints about this issue.
When i go to start the car, pushing the break and pressing the start button, i hear clicking and the engine will not start. i have to try multiple times before the care will finally start.
The vehicle made a loud grinding noise and failed to start at 50k miles on the odometer. dealer stated that the starter needed to be replaced at a cost of over $900. dealer refused to provide assistance with expense despite low mileage and clearly premature problem with this vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that it took multiple attempts to start the vehicle. the failure occurred periodically. the contact also mentioned that the vehicle's doors locked by themselves. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 39,980.
Last yes when the battery was 3 years old and it completely died on me, had to buy a new one. i didn't might since it was $150. a few month (august 2018) ago my car would not start from the first time i push the start bottom and i would have to push it again for it to start. this happened about once to twice a week. but over the last month (november 2018) this issue really increased. started to happen more often and the car would start after the 5th or 6th attempt. called the dealer they quoted me over $500 to fix the issue at a discounted rate. but my starter should not be going out this early when the car is only 3 to 4 years old. this issue must be happening a lot because the dealer didn't even ask to do a diagnostic. after i explain my problem they said quoted me for the starter. i have videos of this issue but i cannot upload it. i will place it on youtube (https://youtu.be/pysds6cndnq). will upload more videos.
The starter has started failing. it started out once a week and has continually gotten worse. now when trying to start the car it fails multiple times a day.
My accord is 4 years old and has about 34,000 miles on it. my starter just began failing (3 months after warranty expired). i was having intermittent starting failure for approximately 2 weeks. i would turn the key and the engine wouldn't do anything, most times i would immediately try again and it would turn on fine. one time it took about 5 tries to get it to turn. after speaking with my mechanic and paying for a replacement starter, i believe that this is a known issue from honda and they should issue a recall.
Tried to start my 2014 honda accord that has had well maintained maintenance on it and it won't start. everything works but the car won't start. this is the 4th time this week it has happened and then the car just starts. now it's not starting. i did my research and realize this is an issue with the 2014 accord. honda needs to be responsible and fix this immediately. car is too new with only 55k miles, i own a 2001 toyota sienna and no issues like this just routine maintenance. i put trust into honda and this is where it gets me.
My car has 31000 miles on when i saw all 4 rims with the paint bubbling up, and a whole bunch of white spots on the outside and inside of the rim.second now i am experiencing problems starting the vehicle, i eventually get the car to turn over but it is happening more and more frequently, it has happened twice in a week
Starter went bad and was intermittent. the solenoid would not work at times. also engine would turn over slowly like it had a bad battery.
Car would not start but would just click and electricity would turn on. problem persisted and got worse and worse. would require 2, then 3 up to 6 tries to start the engine. replaced battery and problem still persisted and got worse. went to mechanic and was told starter was faulty, had to pay for a full starter replacement at less than 45,000 miles.
I have a 2014 honda accord with 30,000 miles and has a bad starter. for the past 8 months , the starter button had to be pushed several tines to start engine. now it will not start at all. honda has made a starter that will fail premature because the solenoid is built inside the starter and carbon from the brushes destroy solenoid contacts.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that the vehicle would not start. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the alternator and the starter were faulty. the contact spoke with clawson honda of fresno (6346 n blackstone ave, fresno, ca 93710, (559) 435-5000) and was informed that the battery was no longer covered under the warranty. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 68,000.
Starter grinds or spins at startup. the problem is intermittent at first but gets worse over time untill the car won't start at all leaving you stranded. honda released a service bulletin 16-002 that covers the problem and the fix for it.
At around 35,000 miles, the starter is no longer working and should not be going out with so few miles
