We have classified the 241 complaints from 2013 Honda Accord about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
During three hour night drive the dash display dimmed to black at interstate speeds. after an hour or so the panel lights came back on. after a few minutes they went out again. the next day during the return drive in daylight panel seemed normal.
The vehicle has an electronic power steering problem. the car was being driven and the car eps light came on while i was driving at about 30 mph and coming of the highway ramp. i lost control of all steering and almost caused an accident. this car cannot be considered safe at all. i was not able to drive my car afterwards and was forced too without power steering because i have to drive to work. if this is not a safety hazard i dont know what would be considered then.
I got off work and the horn was honking. it had been honking so long the battery was dead. and then when someone jump started it and i started to drive off, it honked some more. a few minutes later entering the freeway it started honking once again! each time the honking stopped when i turned the wheel. 3 times in one morning it honked and would not stop until i turned the wheel. since i have had this vehicle the honking comes and goes about every 6 months. but this latest incident has been the worst by far. i took it to the dealer and the fella behind also had the same problem..he called it random honking. *tr
My vehicle shut down while parked in an plaza on pembroke road at the beginning on march 2015. this happened again x 2 while the vehicle was parked (engine running) on separate days. the last time it happened i was driving along pines boulevard in peak hour traffic (tuesday april 21st 2015), as i approached the intersection of hiatus road and pines boulevard, i started slowing down for a red light. the vehicle then shut down/stalled again. the fact that there was a red light helped to prevent and accident, as everyone driving in the same direction had to stop. this time i had to call for a police cruiser to stand in place until i was able to get a tow or get it started again. after about 30 minutes, i finally got it started again and made it home. i took it to a honda dealer on wednesday april 22, 2015. they were able to replicate the issue but after replacing the battery (4-23-2015), fuel pump (4-24-2015) they said that the issue still persists and is now getting more frequent. they (autonation honda in miami lakes) have been trying to 'fix' the problem but they have not yet succeeded. today is may 3rd 2015 i am asking that the ntsb looks into this issue, as the last time it happened i was in peak hour traffic, this issue can lead to an accident.. i also contacted honda corporate customer service and reported the issue. Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated when driving at low speeds or coming to a stop, the lighting on the instrument panel would dim and the vehicle stalled without warning. upon placing the vehicle in park and restarting the engine, the vehicle resumed normal function. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician was not able to diagnose the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 18,000.
I purchased my 2013 honda november of 2013 at rock honda in fontana, ca. when i first purchased the vehicle it had to be jump started, which i thought was from the car sitting so long & it being so cold.(this should have sent a red flag). after a few months & then the car began to act like it did not want to start. i was then stranded on the freeway. i called honda care. the first driver came to my car took two minutes tried to start it, said there was something else wrong (as he was rushing & did not have time to look) he asked to use my phone charger, left my hood up (which caused dents in my hood from being on the freeway with strong winds) & left. the second driver came & had to give me a jump start & do something with the gas. i brought my car to the dealer upon getting my oil change, explained the problem, & they said they found nothing. then my car died again. i called honda again & they were sending someone out to jump start it but i walked over to the sears next door & they jumped it. then it happened 2 days in a row. the first day, the honda care driver had to use two sets of jumper cables to jump my car. the second day the driver had to jump my car again, but this time i recorded it. i then again brought my car to penske honda in ontario where i explained to a service technician what happened & i called honda corporate offices while at the dealership. i told honda corporate about my hood & how many times i had to call honda care. they supposedly opened a claim but never called me back & gave me the run around when i called them. the dealership then did my oil change & checked the car out & found nothing. i then goggled the symptoms of my car & found recall with the fuel system which shuts down the battery on this site. i believe rock honda sold me the vehicle without remedying the recall prior to sale. honda corporation did nothing.
Backed out of parking spot, upon shifting to drive, the rear view camera display was black except for two red lines. drove about 60 feet then upon making a right turn i realized there was no throttle response. the engine continued to operate. removed my foot from the throttle then reapplied my foot and the engine was then responsive to the throttle. the distance was approx. 20 feet and the time 10 seconds that the engine did not respond to the throttle. this car has many intermittent electrical problems, but this problem could be very serious in traffic. *tr
My daughters 2013 honda accord has been parked for approximately 2 weeks without being driven. about 2 days ago i noticed all the windows were down and sunroof open, and last week my husband noticed the trunk was open. yesterday and last night the alarm kept going of and lights flashing ,f at first we thought it was the wind. but it contiunued throughout the night. at one point the headlights would not turn off. my husband thought it was the battery so he tried to charge the battery but it would not charge and at one point all of the interior electrical lights even on the drivers console began blinking constantly. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated that the engine failed to start. the failure had recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000. the vin was not provided.
The vehicle steering simply 'shut-down', or locked-up out of nowhere. it appears the power steering system simply failed. i was only able to regain control of the steering by bringing the vehicle to a full stop in order to turn it off and then restart it... as though i were rebooting a crashed computer! the issue repeated itself three times the next day, once while driving at full speed on a public street. we resolved to stop driving it, but by reflex i took it out the third consecutive day only to have the issue recur twice, thankfully none of these failures occurred while we were executing a turn, otherwise we may have crashed into something or someone, as some of the other complaints describe. i have now put the vehicle into storage until honda addresses the issue definitively, as others describe dealership diagnoses across the board, with virtually all admitting the issue was unresolved, even after repair or replacement of the diagnosed component(s). whether i simply have a lemon, or this is a recall issue in the making, i do not yet know, but what i do know is that this appears to be a very serious safety issue rendering the vehicle too dangerous to drive. *tr
It's been over 2 moths and 5 visit to dealer still got same problem car is honda accord 2013 and it's smart start car won't start sometimes it takes 20 min 40-50 try to start the car lost of same year honda owners are having same exact problem you can see it in google search or youtube dealer always told us the car got no problem but were having same problem 2-3 times a day we get stuck every where we go since car does not start. *tr
On jan 24th, 2013 i took my car to the honda dealership for a problem with my power steering. the eps (electric power steering) system indicator came on and off several times and lost power steering during those times. the problem has been intermittent. the honda dealership tried to fix the problem 3 times. on feb 5th, 2013 the intermittent power steering problem seemed to be fixed. then on aug 21st, 2014 the power steer problem started again. i returned to the honda dealership and honda tried again to fix the intermittent power steering problem. on aug 22nd, i drove my honda accord out of the dealership and had to turn around and bring it back because the cars' eps (electric power steering) system indicator light came on and off again and i lost power steering during that time. i'm now waiting to see if the intermittent power steering problem can be found and fixed. since i bought my car the smart entry system indicator light has turned on and off intermittently without an adverse effect that i know of. i know an intermittent problem is hard diagnose and fix but i'm starting have less and less confidence in honda the company that manufactured my car..updated 11/03/14 *bf
While driving to chicago (2 hours away) with my wife and 11 year old my maintenance minder light came on to tell me it was time to get an oil change. since it was a sunday i couldn't take it in. i couldn't make an appointment until 7/16 to get in for an oil change. on 7/16 i sat in my car to go home, but my dash lights were all lit up. brakes, electric steering, abs, check engine, my speedometer wasn't working and many more lights remained on. i called the dealer and they told me it was safe to drive it over to them although i heard a grinding sound, my brakes were soft and my steering wheel was very stiff. i went very slow since my speedometer or mileage wasn't working at all. the next morning my dealer called and claimed that a rodent was the culprit who chewed on some main wiring harness of the entire car. i find this hard to believe because why didn't it happen after the oil light came 2 days before? why didn't my wife's suv get affected by this? this is a huge quality control issue that honda needs to fix. what would have happened if all of these lights came on while i was driving my family on the highway? *tr
I recently had a very serious issue with my 2013 honda accord regarding unintended acceleration. while pulling into a parking spot at a garden nursery i applied the brakes but they did not respond in anyway, the engine then revved up making a loud noise, the car lunged forward over several railroad tie barriers, bushes, hit a truck that was parked in the lot and came to rest in a mulch pile. luckily the truck and mulch stopped the car and i was able to put it into park and turn it off. there is considerable amount of damage to the side of my car and the property of the nursery. this happened on may 8, 2014 at 5:00 pm. it was a gravel parking lot, dry sunny day. this honda was purchased new in 2013 and is a 4cyl with cvt transmission and has approximately 13,000 miles. the car had to be towed to the dealership where it sits now waiting for a honda representative to investigate this issue. it was a blessing that no one was standing in front of my car. much of my decision to purchase a honda was because of reliability and safety; however, i do not feel safe driving this vehicle. this is my first honda and i am thoroughly disappointed and alarmed after this incident. *tr
Pulling into a parking space, stopped before i could put the car into park, the vehicle lunged forward into a brick wall before stopping. prior to this incident on 4/28/14 the windshield was replaced due to a crack in the windshield after this the ldw (lane warning device) didn't function properly. 4/30/14 another windshield was installed and the ldw did not function properly. i was told to have the camera on the rear view mirror recalibrated, before i could have this service performed the accident occurred. *tr
I bought my 2013 accord sport new. almost immediately i noticed that after i start it and put it in drive, it would not go anywhere. slight press of the acceleration pedal and slowly it would move forward, however within approximately a minute the acceleration pedal press and the vehicle moving would work as they should. since i only considered this an inconvenience, even though this is not " normal", i ignored the issue. in mid 2014, while driving on the freeway, in los angeles, the vehicle's electrical system and the dashboard went completely out, only to flicker back to life within the next two seconds. a few months after, with no warning and for no apparent reason, while i attempted to start the vehicle, i discovered it to be completely dead. no clicks, no flickering lights. i replaced the battery at about 25k miles. over the next year, the sudden electrical short, where the dashboard electronics and everything electrical on the car would turn off suddenly, continued. every two months on average i would experience an episode, some while driving, some when i was stationary, with the engine running for couple of minutes. beginning of 2016, i attempted to start the vehicle, again no sign of life, out of the blue. i jump started it, had it checked, no apparent problems or issues with the battery. end of march 2016, same problem. i went to start the vehicle, it turned the dashboard lights on, then it died...no clicks, no lights flickering. i had it checked by a mechanic, could not find anything wrong with it. i don't know what to do.i liked what honda used to represent, i am not sure anymore about its reliability.
While coming to a stop in my parking spot, i applied the brake and the vehicle suddenly accelerated, with engine surge /loud noise and there were no brakes...... car plowed over parking spot barrier, into shrubs, balcony beam and neighbor's screened patio. there is considerable damage to my vehicle , shrubs, neighbor's patio and my balcony. this was a terrifying event. investigations by insurance co and mechanic are pending at this time. *tr
I have been experiencing problems with this 2013 since purchase. brought it in to mike smith honda on various occasions for problems such, as the car will not accelerate at times, the brakes something is wrong (makes a noise) car has a suction to it,barely accelerates when leaving a red light or stop sign, one time it accelerated to much and i like to hit the wall of my garage. fcw lights somes on some time for nothing,, noise from behind and under the vehicle when driving up and about to put in park. and some times when backing up. the fcw defaults. overall this is not a good running or performance car. everytime you bring it to the shop the servicemen said i sorry but that is normal when they can not fix or know how to fix something it is easy for them to say i sorry that is normal or you got to bring it to the shop when it is acting up at the time. i told them that is hard to do it may not be doing it when it is there at that time. but i thought that what the machines were for to find the problems. the appearance is good but the performance is bad. had the car seal for bugs paid over 700.00 they did not do a good job or did not do what they were paid for at all. bugs are hard to come off of the vehicle.may be other problems but this is a few that comes to mind at this time. the biggest thing is the brakes and the acceleration and suction of the vehicle. *tr
Two months after the purchase, the navi went out on the vehicle. the navi was repaired; however, march 3rd, the back-up camera went dark on the screen; after several attempts it worked again. mar 8-10th, i drove the vehicle with no problems. mar 11th, i worked from home; the vehicle was not moved during the entire time. the vehicle keys remained on the kitchen table. tuesday, mar 11th, at 3:00a.m. (spouse moved his vehicle to the street) the vehicle windows were all closed. i reiterate, the keys were on the table and the windows to the vehicle were all closed. mar 12th, 7:00, on my way to work, i noticed first that the driver side window was completely rolled down and rain had poured in. when i opened the car door, i was amazed to see that all of the windows were down and the sun roof completely open. i've never even opened all the windows at the same time since owning the vehicle. shortly after driving the car, all the system lights came on and fds failed was displayed on the dashboard indicator. i called honda, informed them of the problem and then drove the vehicle to the dealership. i was later informed by the service assistant that both boxes (i'm guessing electrical boxes) had a substantial amount of water in them, shorting out the system. honda is seemingly comfortable with shifting the cause of the problem, e.g., that i probably...left the windows open, pressed all three buttons on the automatic key (didn't even know you could do this) or maybe had the keys in my purse and something pushed all three buttons simultaneously. in short, the window as well as who knows other parts were affected by a malfunction in the electrical system. *tr
With the keyless entry i was able to leave the car in gear, turn the car off and start to leave the car when it started rolling downhill. i have done this several times when exiting the car quickly. the car does give a slight beep, but not enough notification for me to realize that i am not in park. our previous car had a key and if i forgot to put it in park, the car could not be turned off letting me know right away what i had done. i am concerned that this has certainly happened to other people and should be looked at as a major flaw to the keyless entry systems. *tr
Drivers window would go half way up stop on it's own then go back down and stick, drivers door would not open from either inside or out. could not get out of car, had to crawl over to pass. side and get out. passenger side door started exhibiting the same behavior, still not resolved. doesn't happen all the time but it does happen, safety issue. back up camera went black, they replaced camera, still the color is off at times, other times it is black or becomes distorted, color at night is in negative at times. showed them the pics. and i was told it does what it was designed to do. bought the car brand new, it shouldn't have these prob. the door is the most concerning part, if my child is in the pass. side seat and i have to get them out, and the door decides it doesn't want to open, then we have a very serious safety issue. i have had the car to the dealership 8 to 10 times since feb. 2015, i have called customer service, they don't seem to help, i am out of options. this is only july 2015, i need help in resolving this matter with the door, i can live with the camera even though it is not working properly.
Vehicle does not start easily. 3-5 ignition attempts are needed to start it every time. however, once it starts everything seems fine. the battery was checked by the dealer and found to be fine. the problem is not cold related as it occurs even at 40 f. *tr
The steering indicator on dash fezzes, dash lights turn off wile driving (day or night). taken to dealer to have this corrected they keep over night call, estate the problem has bean corrected, this is not true. this is still happening to dat" our 2013 honda accord is back in for the same problems / issues. need to get help for this on going problem or replace the car. this has bean on going and brought to the rock honda service righter attention, to up to the service manager attention, every time i have taken in for this problem they all have seen what i was talking a bought. al i am asking for is help with this. i have a lot of service paper work but the problem still remains the same. rock honda fontana ca. note:hopping this picture helps, cant drive this care and field safe not no-ing if the motors going to shut down or driving at night lights are going to turn off / out. *tt *js
Key-less access control unit is very unreliable. the push button start does not always engage. this makes starting the car a variable time event and not suitable for moving the car in an emergency situation. the problem was well known by honda and presumably fixed in some 2013's. honda service bulletin 13-038 told honda service departments to replace the module as a warranty repair. they cut this off at vin dl002124, but the problem continues. streetsboro ohio honda tells me they can order the part but they want over $600 to repair this design flaw. i purchased the car in december of 2013 and was unaware of the issue for a long time. i thought the car was just hard to start. i mentioned it to a service man at bedford honda at the time, but the car started up for him several times in a row so i just lived with it. it's now much worse.
While driving, my fcw and ldw lights came on and system failure was flashing in the middle of my speedometer. pulled over turned car off and back on, warning lights still flashing. dealers service department was closed (it was a sunday evening). the next day, started the car and the warning lights were no longer flashing. on tuesday, the tire pressure warning light comes on as i am driving, followed by the fcw and ldw lights and system failure was flashing again. car has been at the dealership for 2 days now and they called and told me all of the failure was due to low tire pressure. but, i had just had my tires rotated at that dealership the wednesday before. *tr
While driving at approx. 10mph, i pressed the engine start/stop switch and it shut the engine down completely. after applying my brakes and coming to a full stop, i put the transmission back into park and it started automatically back up. this event should be investigated by honda and a safety interface designed and installed to prevent this from happening at full highway speeds possibly resulting in a serious and deadly accident asap. the engine start/stop switch is located approximately 2 inches away from the air conditioning temperature control up and down button switches. the depression of the start/stop switch could occur while driving attempting to control the temperature of the air conditioning.
On october 9 2013 i had gotten up to go to work, as i got up to go to work that morning i noticed that the seat. did not move up ward. i started to drive to work but i was uncomfortable in my seating position. so as i went to readjust the seat the who seat slammed to the floor of the car. and i felt like a lower whiplash to my lower back and spine. the seat fell back as i was driving and adjusting the seat i also turned my steering wheel almost into the on coming traffic and person next to me. i regained control of my car but now i was sitting on the lowest level of the seats position. i pulled over because my lower back was hurting and looked at the seat. nothing had been tampered or touched. i then manually put the seat back into its upper position since it now no longer could adjust with the electronic control. forward, and back and down you could still move but upward no more. again got back in my car only now to just move forward a few mph the seat again fell back due to the forward motion of the car and gravity. i took this to the honda because it is a serious issue to shockley honda only for them to say that it was out of warranty and wanted to charge me $120 to just look at the issue. and then to tell me it will take $1200 to fix it! so safety is not a concern only profit. i since have to put a box under the seat to keep it from sliding back and from hurting my back further more. but time to time the box moved and the seat continues to slide back and further injury to my back or if not address could cause further injury to others due to loss of control of the car. i do not want to drive this car but i have to drive because it is still a car to get me to work. *tr

This is a keyless car. drove to store listing to music on the radio. pulled into parking spot, put the brake on put the car into park and turned of car. i got in the car put foot on brake and touched button to start car. put car in reverse, backed out of parking spot and after coming to a complete stop put car into drive and my display said there was no cd. i didn't touch any buttons and i was not playing a cd when i parked i didn't have a cd inserted in the cd player. this same problem happens on and off many times. *tr
My center console has been getting stuck. the screen itself gets stuck in reverse and has now the side camera has gotten stuck as well. the bluetooth is also messing up and the usb messed up my phone. there is something majorly wrong with the electrical in my car. it all started when i would start my car and the radio would switch to the cd player and i wouldn't touch anything. then the backup camera screen would get stuck and now the side camera and now the bluetooth. i'm done! this is my 4th accord out of 5 cars. i know a lot about cars and this isn't right. it has been to the dealership numerous times and they have updated it and said it would be fixed and it isn't. fix the thing or lemon law it. it's going back into the shop tonight, so lets see! *tr
I own a 2013 honda accord ex-l v6 w/ navi today i started my car and when the stereo came on it was all static with a little background music from the radio. i switched the source to xm radio, ipod, bluetooth, fm radio... all of which were loud and statickey with hardly any music. i turned the car off and turned it back on and the problem went away. the is the first occurrence but i have read online that this is a common problem in the 2013 accords. *tr
Two false tpms low pressure warnings, second occurrence 7/19/2013. tire pressure during both occurrences was correct when subsequently measured with tires 'cold' after warning. tpms was recalibrated after both false warnings. tpms is an indirect system, computed through abs system. checked with american honda for a firmware update, none pending. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated that that the air conditioning failed and blew hot air only. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the failure was located at the air conditioning condenser, which was fractured due to road debris. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure and current mileage was 7,700.
Don't install an after market amplifier and sub woofer. the anc system will cause a loud buzzing sound when you first turn on the car and put it in gear. don't be like me and waste money like i did because honda has yet to address the issue. *tr
False low tire pressure indication. honda accord owned for 12 months, less than 12,000 miles, i have received a low tire pressure indication for the fourth time. the previous three times, before taking my accord to the dealership, i checked the tire pressure. all four tire pressures are within recommended settings. after receiving my vehicle after service, the service department reports all four tire pressures are low. the last time the service manager indicates the tires need to be re-inflated every 2 - 3 thousand miles. continued false indications is as much as a safety issue as the indicator not working at all. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated that the bluetooth function would not disconnect properly. as a result, the contact would have to remove his eyes from the roadway, reach down and attempt to reconnect the bluetooth. the contact would also have to shut off and restart the engine in order to establish a connection. the manufacturer performed a software update during production, but that update failed to remedy the failure. the failure mileage was 25 and the current mileage was 500. *tr
I purchased my honda accord 4cy, no navigation in april 2013. after having the vehicle for two weeks, i was backing out of my garage and when i put the vehicle in drive, the monitor where the rear view camera shows up went blank. the radio came on but i could not see any of the channels on the monitor. i turned the power off and then back on and everything works again. this happens on a regular basis and the dealership where i purchased the vehicle said they can only run a test on the car when it actually happens and for me to bring it to them when i have the problem. they do not show any service warranties for this issue. the problem is this happens when i am going to work at 5:00 a.m. and only when the vehicle is inside a garage. if the vehicle is parked outside it does not happen. *tr
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated that there was a sudden loss of power and control of the vehicle. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle veered to the right and crashed into a pole. the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed with force. the driver sustained a broken right arm, minor bruising, and scratches from the impact, which required medical assistance. the front passenger sustained shock and whiplash, which also required medical assistance. a police report was filed. the insurance company towed the vehicle to a collision center. the vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failure years later. the vin and failure mileage were not available.
Dealer did a recall update of audio system in march 2013 to repair defects in audio system. this update immediately began to interfere with the car's cell phone blue tooth connection causing loss of pairing, loss of speed dials, etc. i have contacted the dealer and honda factory representative repeatedly. the only response i get is they are working on a solution. spoke to honda engineering several times. they offered two suggestions which did not solve the problem. recently i spoke to engineering and their suggestion this time concerns me. i was told that shifting the car out of park before the phone pairs seems to cause the phone failure and if i delay until the phones syncs that appears to be an remedy. when i asked if this was the permanent solution i was told no but now they know what is causing the problem and they will have a fix soon. i an concerned because what would shifting out of park have to do with my phone connecting to the car. if honda is using a system that is so integrated that a failure of the phone system ties in with shifting out of park what other potential failure was caused by the march update of a radio ? could that update also affect the transmission, engine or braking system? honda has known about my problem, there are many others with the same problem, since march and they claim they have been working on a solution since then. could it be the problem is more severe then honda will admit? in the mean time i own a car with a defect that is unsellable and one that could also be potentially very dangerous. my fear is that many car owners will just write off this system failure as no big deal and will use their car phones minus the hands free blue tooth. if so they could be driving a car which has been impaired in other ways, possibly with a defective safety system that resulted from honda's audio update. *tr
I was pulling away from a stop sign and had accelerated to about 15 mph. all of a sudden the car slowed down and stopped. i stepped on the accelerator and the car didn't move and the engine shut down. at the same time all the dash warning lights came on, including check engine, the big exclamation mark, anti-skid control, and the electric steering wheel warning light. i put the car in park and was able to restart the engine. at this time i noticed all the warning lights were still on, including the fcw light in the center of the speedometer with the message fcw failure. when the car was checked at the honda dealership they could find no codes related to the above issues. they did find code dtc p2176 set for throttle actuator control not learned stored in history. *tr
After starting the car, the forward collision warning came on and said failure. at the same time, all the other warnings were on( i.e. electric power steering, engine warning, tire pressure warning vehicle stability assist warning etc.) also, the econ assist went off. did not drive it until wed. took it to the nearest honda dealer. after inspecting the computer readout, said i would have to bring it to them with the warning lights on. said he could not determine the trouble with the warning lights off. the lights continue to come on and the fcw continues to show failure, but its not a continuing problem, only intermittent one. very difficult to get to the dealer after hours or on sunday, with the warning lights on. *tr
Since delivery date of vehicle from dealer my vehicles navigation and stereo have not worked. i brought it in the service dept could not figure out what was wrong, they replaced the navigation and stereo and the problem still to this day exist. when this radio is on sometimes it freezes and the nav unit states the radio is off and other times it just stays on, volume increases on its own, cannot use touch screen, cannot change stations and then the lights on the dash go on and off and car shuts off. i have gone online and see that there are many other people reporting the same problem and when i take it to the dealer if it goes back to working the service dept tells me that they cannot diagnose the problem to keep driving it and bring it back. on sept 21 i brought it in to dealer and it shut off at dealer 3x's making them jump start it and i have once again received my car with no assurance that it works. they said the battery and computer test come back ok but they changed the battery in hopes that that will resolve the issue. it is 9/24/15 and same thing happened this morning. but since after 3 hours of trying to turn it back on it did and i cant go back to being without a car because i have a 2 year old daughter, have to work and know the dealer will say its working again i have to just pray it will not happen while on the road
My wife had placed her fob in her purse & placed the purse in the trunk. when i started to drive the car (with my fob in my pocket), the trunk opened. i pulled over into a parking lot, closed the trunk & started driving. again the trunk opened, i pulled over, closed the trunk & began driving. the trunk again opened, i pulled over & my wife realized that her purse was in the trunk with the fob in it & that might have been the problem. she removed her purse, we started driving & the trunk stayed closed. we did not recognize it as a safety issue at the time but have since realized that if an item had flown from the trunk into the path of a following car, it might have caused an accident. *tr
The sporadic failure of the radio to operate, come on is some instances, or to display presets and the cd player not operating all at the same time is extremely frustrating! the driver seat memory system not reverting when re-entering vehicle and starting, all point to a possible electrical problem that honda would do good to look into -- there are youtube videos of other owners who have experienced radio malfunctions as well. the previous model accord i owned, 2011, had no such problem. with regards to another owner complaint on the engine's momentary hesitations upon acceleration, was also experienced. also, complained by other owner, was the driver side rear view mirror: the 1/4 end will cause you to immediately adjust to right in anticipation of car coming into you. this potential correction accident can be avoided by another left side blind spot device or mirror replacement altogether: i am trying not to pay too much attention to that 1/4 end part of mirror. the horn is annoyingly different from previous year and not as loud. *tr
I have purchased a 2013 honda accord touring model. it is equipped with a front collision warning system (fcw) which has a radar sensor in the grille. the system alerts can be set for long, normal or short. when set for long the alert should come on about three car lengths away from the vehicle ahead. if the system determines a collision is possible, it should give both visual & audible alerts, including a heads-up warning that flashes on the windshield. the fcw system is not working as it is described in the owners manual. in fact it only alerts @ random times. i have had the dealers technician check it out on highways, main streets & local streets. he could only get the system to give an alert once when the car ahead was standing at a red light. the alert came when we were about one car length away from the vehicle ahead. he tried it again @ the next red light & it did not give any alert. i have tested the system at all speeds & distances driving behind a car driven by my wife, no alerts. the technician said the system does not seem to be working & he would call american honda to get information on how the system should work. have been in touch with american honda & at this point in time they do not admit that there is a problem. i would have no problem having them or any third party check out the fcw system. *tr
Our 2013 honda accord ex-l is equipped with a right turn signal blind spot camera which activates when the driver initiates a right turn signal. the dash console display screen gives the driver a view of the blind spot area. the screen also displays the area directly behind the car whenever the driver places the car into reverse. on the day specified, the right turn signal camera activated as i was merging into the right lane, but then, instantaneously, the display system froze, popped repeatedly, and then went to a dark screen--much like static on a television set. this has occurred more than two dozen times, even after my local dealer replaced the unit. on other occasions, the rear back-up camera either freezes, pops, and goes to dark screen or freezes in position--while i am driving forward down the highway. i have taken the car to my local dealer five times already, and, as of yet, they have been unable to fix the problem. the whole system pops, freezes, and reboots itself multiple times each day. sometimes it is necessary for me to stop the car, turn it off, and then turn it on again in order for these features to work. *tr
This car has push button start on and off. the engine can be cut off with car in any gear and it does not have to be in park. i left the car in drive on a hill and went to get out and the car was drifting forward. i bought this car for safety features and this is a great concern. has collision ,lane change warnings and they are so low you can not hear them. i am 67 and my husband is 71 and this is not a safe car for our age group.called honda and the warnings can not be cut up and there is nothing can be done about car drifting if you do not put in park. very disappointed. *tr
Since i bought my 2013 honda accord ex-l in january 2013, i have had issues with stereo system. at times, the stereo will not turn on or it will turn on but the display screen is blank. other times, "no disc" appears on the display when i turn the car on. i don't listen to cds, therefore, i never changed the source to play a cd. i only listen to xm. the dealer stated they cannot do anything to fix unless i bring the car in while the issue is happening. the issue is intermittent and never happens while near a dealer. i did receive a recall in april 2013 and took my car in for the stereo software update. did not solve my issues. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. the contact stated that while reversing from a parking space, the back up camera and the warning chime did not activate to notify the contact there was a vehicle in close proximity. the contact crashed into another vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. there were no injuries. the approximate failure mileage was 100.
